Add rss feeds

Hi all
Just a quick question regarding adding rss feeds on to the iPhone, this is new to me and I wondered if it is possible to add them in the same way as on the mac ie into apple mail. Is this possible or is a third party app required?

Look for an app in the app store, there are many.

There is no longer an option in mail in the File menu, to add RSS feeds to Mail.  When I am in Safari and click on the "Reader" button it gives me directions to go to mail, and click "Add RSS Feed" in the File menu but that option is not there when I am in Mail.  Any suggestions?

    Hi InvinsibleSach,
    Try this.
On this message thread first do the following:
Topic Options (just above your first post)
Subscribe to This Topic's RSS Feed
That will open a new window.
Take note of the URL in that new address bar.
    (/discussions/rss/message?board.id=maemo&message.id=14252)
    Now on your N900:
    Menu
    RSS
+ symbol at bottom left of screen
Type the address you noted before into the text field.
    (/discussions/rss/message?board.id=maemo&message.id=14252)
    Done
    I hope this helps.

  • How do I add RSS feeds into my website (created in Muse)?

Hi i am redoing a website for a client and previously the website was created in Wordpress (I pressume) and I am now working in Adobe Muse. Previsouly they had a simple text based RSS feed from various websites displayed in columns on their site. Now they want that again, but I am new to muse and website designing and need some help, I do not even know if my terminology is correct.
Maybe I should describe what I want: I want the headlines of posts from other independant sites to appear as a clickable link on my site with the date under it. and as new articles is posted on these outside websites, my "Interesting links" coloumn on my website must also update....
I hope I am making myself clear...

  • RSS feed, repeated password prompts

I experience this issue on both Mac OS versions that I use: Mac OS 10.5.8 with Mail 3.6 and Mac OS 10.6.4 with Mail 4.3.
I want to subscribe to an RSS feed for a blog. However, the blog and RSS feed are on a private, encrypted website. I can successfully add the RSS feed to the Mail program by...
    1) In the "File" menu, select "Add RSS feeds..."
    2) Paste the "feed://......" address.
    3) Click "Add".
    4) When prompted, enter my username/password as assigned by the website.
The RSS feed successfully appears in Mail's sidebar and the contents load.
However, later in the day it starts to fail. An exclamation mark (within a triangle) appears alongside the RSS feed. Clicking on the symbol results in the message below. I again enter the username/password, but later that same day, it will fail again, and again, and again.
"To view this feed, you need to log in to area "Mac OS X Server Web Services" on wiki.chsj23.org:443.
"Your login information will be sent securely.
    "Name: ___________
    "Password: __________
"This password will be stored in your keychain.
    "{Cancel} {Log In}"
    Thoughts?

I do not know if this is a permanent solution, but off-list I discovered something. If I access the associated website, I am of course prompted to log in. I now checked "Remember Me" via that login window, using Safari as my web browser. If I go back to "Mail", the RSS feed now works.

  • Import RSS feeds to Mail

Anyone know of a way to import OMPL rss feeds into Mail?
    --Andrew

I have a manual way that will work. It will take a few steps but you can import in whole or in batches. If you have many feeds you may want to do in batches so as not to mix them up.
This will work with Vienna. It may just work with other readers too.
    1) open Safari, and get to the bookmark manager (menu bar/bookmarks/show all bookmarks)
    2) create a temp folder we can use to import the feeds. (*1)
    3) open vienna & select a single feed or a range of feeds. (*2)
    4) drag & drop the feeds in to the temp folder in safari you created in step 2.
    5) open mail, got to (menu bar/file/add rss feed). Select the temp folder (*3)
    6) click the all the check boxes and click add and your feeds have been imported. (*4)
If you had to do it manually this worked for me. Beats cut/paste links or manually typing. There is probably other ways to do it. Hope Apple patches this RSS feature soon. I dont want to wait for OSX 10.6 to see an improvement.
    Notes:
*1 - Create a temp folder for each sub folder in your news reader. This will speed things up.
*2 - Unfortunately it does not drag and drop the folders you physically have to select the range of feeds. If your selection does include the folder (eg. your selection strattled 2 folders it will still process your selection. In other words it ignores the folder and drags your selection.
*3 - If you did create a temp folder for each folder group you had in your RSS feeder this is a step you would repeat at selecting the various temp folders. But read not 4 before you do.
*4 - Yes you have to individually click each box. Another grip is that even though you highlighted a folder in Mail it will import the feeds to the RSS main folder. This means you have to select & drag/drop into the sub-folder.

  • Rss Feed Dead

Hi! For the past couple of days, in Mail 4.2, there is a little warning triangle next to the RSS Feed for Apple Hot News. The message I get is: "The RSS feed could not be updated because no associated URL was found. This feed will no longer receive new articles."
I used the Update RSS Feeds command, but nothing changes. In Mail Preferences, under RSS Feeds, my Default Reader is Mail, and is set to check for updates every day and remove articles manually. The only download I've done recently is Safari 5.0 earlier in the week, though I use Firefox 3.6.3 as my browser.
Any suggestions on how to clear this up?

Go to File>Add RSS Feeds, check 'Specify URL for a Feed' and copy this URL in:

  • RSS feeds in mail

Is there any way to have my RSS feeds sync to my iPad in Mail, or will I have to download a separate app to handle RSS feeds?

the rss header and rss folders or feeds under that header should be added automatically.
are you adding directly in Mail or are you adding from Safari?
I have had trouble with adding directly in Mail, so what I have done is adding first in Safari, then selecting these feeds in file>add rss feeds... and browse/select the feeds that show up.
    hope this helps

  • How to Export Mail RSS feeds to another reader

How do I go about exporting RSS feeds I have in Mail into another reader like NetNewsWire?
    Thanks.

    Hi Purple Cat,
Have you considered using New New Wire as a bridge between google reader and apple mail?
    1) download NetNewsWire
    2) configure NetNewsWire as default RSS reader
    3) open NetNewsWire
    4) Enable Assentive Devices
    5) run terminal command to add RSS feed to NetNewsWire
    6) verified correct feed to add in NewNewsWire
    7) synced with google reader.
    1) NetNewsWire download, put in applications folder.
2)open safari, go to safari menu, click preferences, when preferences open chose RSS. Set the pulldown menu default RSS reader to NetNewsWire
    3) open NetNewsWire, make sure it's open, with no dialog box being displayed.
    4) open system preferences, Click on Universal Access, check "enable access to assisted devices"
    4) Open terminal, paste in the fallowing command, then press return:
    IFS=$'\n';for i in $(find ~/Library/Mail/RSS/ -name "Info.plist");do open $(grep "<string>http://" $i | sed "s/.*\(http[^<]*\).*/\1/;s/http/feed/"); osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to keystroke return'; sleep 20; done; say done;
NOTE: while this command runs do not click on any thing. it will take about 20 seconds between adding each RSS feed. if your speakers are on and your volume loud enough, you should hear the computer say 'done' after adding all the RSS feeds.
    5) in NetNewsWire verify all the RSS are good to go, remove any you do not wish to add to google reader.
    6) when your sure your ok to have the feed in NetNewsWire added to google reader:
in netnewswire go to preferences, click on the syncing icon, put in your google user name and password, Click Merge Subscriptions button, Then check "sync with google reader.

What did you try In Launchpad?
Hold the option key until the icons start to "jiggle"
Then you should see an X to delete an app.

  • RSS feed missing after Mountain Lion upgrade?

    Hi everyone,
I appreciate your time and assistance here in addressing why my RSS feed from my Mail application has disappeared. After I upgraded to Mountain Lion last night, all of my RSS feeds are gone. Furthermore, I cannot add RSS feeds. Nor can I even search for "rss" in the help searchbar inside the application itself.
It seems as if the RSS component of the application itself has been erased. I have heard that perhaps the feature has been removed. If this is the case, can someone please articulate why Apple throught this was a good idea and perhaps how I can implement a new RSS component into mail?
Thanks again so very much, I'm looking forward to your responses.

Here are some RSS readers. Vienna was well rated in the articles I looked at:

  • RSS feed with iWeb

    Hi there,
Can i add RSS feed onto my iWeb site?
    www.echoplexe.com
    Thanks for your time.
    Martin

It looks like your site http://www.echoplexe.com is hosted on a 3rd party server, right? So right now what you are doing is doing a "Publish to Folder" in iWeb and then uploading the site files to your server, right? Well, next time you "Publish to Folder" take a closer look at the file dialog window that opens. At the bottom of that window there is actually a field for you to enter your domain so that iWeb can put the RSS feed in there for you... just type in http://www.echoplexe.com/ in there and I think you'll see your RSS feed after you upload.
If this is useful information to you, please do me a favor and mark this reply as "solved" or "helpful" using the little buttons in the title bar of this reply. I would appreciate it immensely. Thanks.
