Add smartphone to America's Choice Family SharePlan?

I'm currently one of three members of an America's Choice Family SharePlan 700 that has gone off-contract. All lines are currently basic phones.
I'd like to upgrade my line to a subsidized smartphone. The other members will probably want to wait.
What are my options in terms of the plan, and what's the most cost-effective, assuming that I only need 2 GB of data? I assume I can either add data to my line or convert to a Share Everything plan? How would the costs compare?
Also, is there a possible issue of flexibility? We may want to add a fourth line to the plan, and other members may also want to upgrade to smartphones within the next year or so.
Thanks for any advice.

Those plans went a way a long time ago. So I'm not sure what changes you can make on them if any. What exactly do you have on that plan and what are the costs not counting taxes, fees etc.
A Share Everything plan with 2 basic phones and 1 smartphone with 2 GB data would be $160 not counting taxes and fees or taking into account any employee discount you may have, if any. Converting those 2 basic phones into smartphone would be $10 per phone per month extra. Any data you may want to add would be $10 per 2 GB though you are not required to add any. Adding a 4th line would be $30 for a basic phone or $40 a month for a smart phone. Once again you can add data or not add data.
On old plans data plans are mandatory for each smartphone and those are a minimum of $30 a month and give you 2 GB.

• Change family shareplan

I have the AC family shareplan with 700 and two phone lines. i would like to change my family shareplan to 1400 and add a line so that would be 3 phones sharing 1400 . Would it be cheaped to go with talk or talk&text plan . My daughter has a pay as you go phone (t-moblie) and it seems that we are buying her a call for the phone alot. She texts alot so would 1400familyplan talk & text be a good plan or advice for the best family share plan that is going to not cost that much and if I change my plan and add a line could I use the phone she has or buy one from verizon.

Your America's Choice plan is an older "grandfathered" plan. If you need more then 700 minutes, you will HAVE to move to one of the current Talk or Talk & Text plans, and you will lose your ability to switch back to the AC plan. This is how it works with all grandfathered plans, you can keep them as long as you stay with them, but once you switch away, they are gone.
It's impossible to say what the best plan will be unless we know your usage. Now would be a good time to log in to MyVerizon and view your usage for the past few months, you should also look at your daughter's account to see how many minutes/texts she is using. If you can give us an idea of what your needs are, we can suggest a plan, or you can call in to Verizon and have them walk through your options with you.
T-Mobile phones used GSM technology, and Verizon phones are CDMA, so you will not be able to use her current phone on Verizon. When you add her line to your Family Plan, you will have the option of signing a new contract and getting a subsidized phone for her at that time.

• Add Current Indv Plan to New Family Share Plan

I am currently under a 2yr an Individual 450 min plan contract, that expires in about 8 months (11/10/11); my mother is planning on porting her Sprint number to VZW with her company's discount. I cannot just add lines to my account as I do not qualify for her discount, so we would like to create a 2yr 700min talk & text family plan with her number being the primary account, my number as a second line, and another Sprint number as the third line.
Will I be charged an Early Termination Fee to move my individual plan number to this family plan? And will I be able to upgrade to a new phone with the 2yr plan price, in turn extending my plan another two years? Or will I need to wait til my plan expires to join this family plan with a new phone, in order to avoid paying full retail price?
The primary number (Mom), and myself would each like to get the iPhone or similar 3g smart phone, where as the third line will be a basic, non-smart, non-data plan, phone.
Thanks for any insight!

Thank you lewisr13 for your reply, the information is correct. I have some additional information about our AOL (Assumption of Liability) program that should also help with merging accounts. You will not be billed for any Early Termination fees when your line is assumed by another person. You do not have to wait until your contract expires. Your upgrade date will remain the same, however if you become a secondary line on the new account, you will loose your New Every Two discount.

This must be completed prior to processing the Assumption of Liability.
5. Forward this Assumption of Liability email to the new assuming customer.
6. You must contact Customer Service at 1-800-922-0204 to authorize the account transfer with the name of the new assuming customer.

• Family shareplan upgrade

I have 5 lines on a family shareplan. The main number contract expires in 8/11. Theother 4 lines expire before that. One line is eligible for an upgrade now but I do not want to lock in to another 2 years because of the mandatory data plan which we do not use. I am thinking of waiting until 8/11 and switching servicer. However, my daughters env2 is acting up -dropped calls, shutting off, not sending messages etc and I would like to change that phone. If I obtain a phone on my own and activate it, will I be subject to the mandatory data plan or is it phone dependent ie activate another env2 vs an env3 ? Any other options anybody can think of?
Thank you

You can swap a phone you either purchase at full retail price or from a source other than Verizon at any time without affecting your contract.
The mandatory data "feature" is indeed dependent on the type of phone. Since the enV3, with what Verizon claims are amazing web use capabilities, is a "3GMM" phone, it will require a data plan if you activate it. An enV2, however, since it was released before January 18, 2010, will not require a data plan.

• Activate a KIN on America's Choice Plan?

Does any one know if a KIN can be activated on a grandfathered America's Choice plan? One of my accounts got switched off of my America's Choice plan and is in the process of switching back, so I'm unable to check online.

Maybe you already read this thread I'm linking to, but it sounds like you can keep your America's Choice plan, but you cannot use minutes for data. I read on another forum that this is one of the few phones that works on an AC plan. Hope that helps.

• Grandfathering America's Choice $5 Mobile Web on Kin TWOm?

If I activate the Kin TWOm, will I be able to continue using the $5 a month mobile web option under the America's Choice plan?

I highly doubt it, there aren't too many phones still left that are still compatible with the America's Choice Plan. Would be best to call and ask. *611.

• Americas choice family Plan 500 min shared

I TRIED to talk via Chat to a rep last night and got nowhere they wanted me to change plans and all i wanted was an answer to a simple question.
I have had this plan for years and when I got My smart phone, I added 1000 text for $10.00 extra a month . Before I added that I thought I had 100 text included in my plan . I was asking if they could confirm that and kept getting a run around to change plans . The reason I ask is because i don't even use 40 text a month so I was considering dropping the extra $10.00 expense, But they couldn't answer that i would have the 100 text included from the original plan . Does anyone Know ? ? I even asked for a supervisor and was told they are Busy. I said I would wait and then was told they were Unavalable ??

Most times reps are not capable of answering questions about grandparented plans because they are not trained on it.
"How much does text messaging cost?
Text messaging charges vary by your plan. Please refer to the list below to learn about your text messaging rates: The MORE Everything Plan -- You have unlimited domestic and international text and multimedia messaging.
Nationwide Talk & Text Plan -- You have unlimited text, multimedia and instant messaging while within the United States.
All other plans -- Each text message sent or received is $0.20 each. Text messages sent to other countries are $0.25 per text sent and $0.20 per text received."
So you would be under the last category. Your best bet is to keep the $10/1000min text plan.
Good Luck

How do I add my new lap top to my family iTunes? I downloaded music, but cannot play it on my laptop

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

• SharePoint 2010 survey: Add additional text boxes beside choices/checkboxes?

I have a survey question which requires the user to list certain items beside each choice provided by the question.
For eg:
What are your favorite things? List names against each category
Name [Textbox]
Place [Textbox]
Animal [Textbox]
Color [Textbox]
And the answer would look something like:
Name [Wee, Woo, Mee, Moo]
Place [LA, Paris, Bombay]
Animal [Cat, dog]
Color [White,Black]
If anyone has any ideas to implement this or guide me to a related article or literature, that would be great!
Any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi Ritesh,
Try utilizing IE developer toolbar/ Firebug to locate the ID of the element "Specify your own value". Mine was something like this: ctl00_m_g_2c113611_bc41_4c82_94e9_a6e253aa8444_ctl00_ctl01_ctl01_ctl00_ctl00_ctl04_ctl00_ctl01
Then go to the NewForm.aspx or EditForm.aspx of your list , insert a CEWP below the ListFormwebPart. In the

tag of your CEWP add the following script:

Save and done!
As I mentioned this is not the best way since you have to add multiple label ID's corresponding to every "Specify your own value" label that you want to change....

• How can I add my photo after setting up family share

I Set family share as organizer and did not add a picture can i now add my picture.

Hello there, bryan1953.
The photo used by Family Sharing is based on your Contact card in Contacts. The following Knowledge Base article walks through how to add a photo:
Contacts: Add or change contact pictures
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11580
Add or change a picture
Select a contact or your own card, and then double-click the picture well.
Select a picture:
Drag an image to the picture well.
Click Camera to take a picture.
If you have pictures in iPhoto, click the Faces button to use a face from iPhoto.
If the contact is linked (it’s in multiple accounts, but displayed only once in Contacts) and has multiple account pictures, click Linked.
Click Edit to edit the picture.
To zoom in and out of the picture, drag the slider. Drag the picture to change which part of it is visible.
To rotate the picture, hold down the Option key while you click and drag the picture.
To apply special effects, click the Effects Gallery button and choose an effect.
Click Done.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,

• How do I add an email address for a family member to my .mac account?

Can I add an email address for my mother to my .mac account? I'd like to set up, manage and pay for an email address for her use. I thought this was possible but can't seem to navigate myself to the place where I can get an additional address.

So, after further reading I assume that I must ad an apple id for my mother. Is this correct? Can I, as the responsible party, control purchases and apps that are added to the device I have provided her? I'm not so worried about what she might do as I am what a grandchild might do without her knowledge.

• Alltel Smartpack vs. Verizon Family Shareplan

Anyone know what the difference is?
Currently on a SmartPack 1200, and i have my account set to upgrade to the 2000 next billing cycle. Went to Best Buy tonight to look at the incredible 2 for $1, and they were going to force us to switch to the SharePlan 2000. We would keep our unlimited data, but would switch to the verizon plan instead of alltel.
Anyone know the difference? Pricing seemed about the same I believe. I just don't want to switch to find out we're going to lose some of the old school fringe alltel benefits, etc.

I would think the big difference would be price. What is the base rate for the plan you are on?
VZW 2000 $99.98 for 2 lines (Without messaging and data)
Nights and weekends will be 9pm vz 7pm with the Alltel plan.
You get 10 F&F with the 2000 plan. I am wondering if you have more with the plan you have now. I have the 500 Smartpack plan from Alltel and I have 12 F&F.
One thing with going with a 3rd party reseller, they can not in most cases not keep you on an Alltel plan and VZW will not switch ya back as once an Alltel plan is off the account, it can not be put back.
You will need to determine if the money saved on the phones will offset the price difference of the plans.

• What is the process to upgrade at full retail, switch SIM cards, and keep old plan with unlimited data feature

I'm on a really old plan...America's Choice Family Share 500, Free N&W, with 2 lines, and each line has the unlimited data feature on the line.
Neither line has a texting package.
I currently have a Droid Bionic (large SIM card) & want to get a Droid Turbo (small SIM card). It is literally cheaper for me to pay full retail for a phone (actually 2 phones) than switch to a "More Everything" plan because my plan is so old. Across the two lines, we probably only use 3-5 GB/mo, so we aren't 'heavy' data users, but we aren't using 1-2GB/mo either.
I went into a VZW Corporate store, and they said I should be able to keep my plan with unlimited data if I pay full retail, but the sales person said their system has been knocking off unlimited data for other customers, even for something as small as a SIM card change.
I tried upgrading on verizonwireless.com, and the system tried to kick me out of my America's Choice Family Share 500 plan.
What is the process to get a new phone, pay ~$600 for it, get the new SIM card assigned to the account, and keep my calling plan with unlimited data?
(I also have the option to turn on & off Mobile Hot-Spot for $30/mo at will...but probably only have it active for 1 week a year, if that)
Thanks!

Just log into your my verizon and order a phone at the full retail price. When you add the phone to the cart you choose 2 yr price, edge or full and then hit add. You will have to choose a plan but that plan does not go into effect since you are buying a phone out of contract, it is just part of the process. You then will not lose the data

• Is mobile hotspot an available add-on option to the Single Line Smartphone Plan?

My current plan is an ancient $35 450 minute America's Choice voice plan and a $30/mo 2GB data plan. I only picked the 2GB plan because for that family of data plans one is required to pick a 2GB plan or higher for smartphones. This works fine for me because I don't talk much and so this combination appears to be cheaper than almost any of the currently-available plans. Another nice aspect of this is that if I need mobile hotspot for a while I can switch to the $50/mo 4GB plan which includes it and then switch back to the 2GB plan when I don't need it.
Just today I ran across the Single Line Smartphone plans on the VWZ website. The 1GB plan is only $60/mo, which would be cheaper than what I'm paying now. But it says nothing about mobile hotspot. I realize mobile hotspot isn't included with it, but I'm wondering if it can be purchased as an add-on, and if so, for how much? Ideally I'd like to do something similar to what I can do now -- add it when I need it and drop it when I'm done with it.
Is any of this possible, or do I need to stick with what I have (or switch to a More Everything -- which would be silly for me because I'd be paying a lot more)?

Mobile Hotspot is a great feature to have, QuantumMechanic! Just like you, I am all about saving! Mobile Hotspot is certainly available with all plans whether if it is an add on or embedded in a plan. Our More Everything plan with 1GB of data is actually $80.00 per month. This includes the $40 access charge for the smartphone $40 for the 1GB data plan. I would like to look into the plan that you mentioned. I just sent you a follow request, please send me this information in a private message so that I can better assist.
