We didn't configure Dataguard Broker.. is there any way to configure without dataguard broker. i have tried in Primary server on emgrid on availability page for add standby link.. but it's not accepting sys password for standby.... Please Give me solution.. We need Sync alert between Primary and Standby through EM Grid
Regards,
Madhan

From your description I do not understand what you have (provide full version numbers not marketing labels for each one) and their operating systems. Also the full version of OEM Grid.
What edition do you have Standard or Enterprise?
Is the source database RAC or stand-alone?
Did you read any docs telling you how to configure the standby? Post a link so we know what you were trying to do.
And finally "it's not accepting" means what? That the server reboots? That it gives you an error message you didn't think important enough to post?
Here's what your post reads like to me:
I need to add a second car for my family .. it is a 2009 Honda. Standby car is a Subaru wagon. I need to have both. I didn't do anything with my insurance policy. I have tried to start the car but it doesn't start. Please give me a solution."
{code}
Which car? Is it out of gas or did you use the wrong key? How can we know if you don't tell us.
Please provide all of the information and we should be able to answer your question ... but for starters. Data Guard broker is only "required" for RAC clusters.

  • Add WebLogic Domain to OEM Grid Control

On a host, say x, i have installed OEM grid Agent Version: 11.1.0.1.0. The host is listed on OEM grid control. On this host i have a weblogic domain version 10.3.3. Now i am trying to add this weblogic domain to OEM 11g grid control which is on a different host.
    It gives the following error
Error: Failed to connect to agent x:3872
Failed to connect to agent x:3872. Reason: java.net.UnknownHostException: x.
Only an agent 11.1 or later can be used for finding targets.
    How can i solve this?

bummer.. any response? I'm getting the same error now, and the documentation isn't all that clear gasp

  • Which? - License for OEM Grid Control or just the additional Packs and Add-Ins?

I took a look at the price list and I wanted to clarify the "Named User Plus". The Diagnostic and Tuning Packs are each shown as $100 for the named user. As a DBA, if I have a named user license for these two management packs, does this mean that I can manage as many databases as needed with these two management packs?

Wow, 25 separate dbcontrols sound like a nightmare.
By the way, our Oracle rep just happened to come here yesterday, and he validated what was said here.
You can install the Grid Control free; you simply un-check the Packs/Add-Ins during the install.
As I understand it, you would install the Grid Control Agent first on each server, then when you install Oracle RDBMS, the Universal Installer will detect the Agent and enable the Grid Control instead of the Database Control.
Then you install the OEM Grid Control repository and software on a separate server, and that is where you manage all of the Oracle RDBMS servers from.
He also said to use the highest version Grid Control Agents on the database servers and repository server and keep the versions of that software in sync, which is separate from the Oracle RDBMS version.

  • License for OEM Grid Control or just the additional Packs and Add-Ins?

I have searched the forums and found the link below in a discussion about the Enterprise Manager Grid Control, but nobody answered this question specifically:
Can you freely install and use the Grid Control (with no additional Packs or Add-Ins)? Or does the Grid Control itself require a license?
P.S. The price list linked here only displays prices for Grid Control Packs and Add-Ins:

  • OEM grid 11 installation on windows server 2008

    Hi ,
We have a 64 Bit windows 2008 server , on which we need to install OEM grid 11.
For this we will be using :
OEM 11 for windows 32 bit
    Oracle 11gr2 windows 32 bit
    Weblogic server 32 bit.
the instalation order would be :
    1.Weblogic
    2. Database
    3. Grid
Please suggest if these are the right versions and also if its ok to install 32 bit versions on them ? since I read somewhere that 64 Bit Db wont be compatible with OEM and weblogic.
    Thanks and Regards
    KK

    Hi Eric,
    Thank you for the suggestion.
We have first installed the weblogic. Then the database and lastly the Grid.
While installing grid , it was stuck at the 12th Step which was configuring the Agent.
On checking metalink we came accross a note and followed the steps mentioned as it is.. So for the moment it was done..
But now everything is up , inspite of that the grid aint visible.
I am trying the following :
    http://hostname.domainname:7799/em
and it just gives a blank image.
https://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1103539 speaks of the same issue.. I am going through it now..

  • "Add Standby Database" wizard licensing

there is a wizard in grid control known as "Add Standby Database" does it require licesning ?

Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control provides access to the complete set of Data Guard 10.2 features. Limited monitoring-only Data Guard functionality is available in Enterprise Manager Database Control. It's not a licensing issue, it's an inherent limitation of dbcontrol. It (dbcontrol) works with a single database. To create/manage a DG setup, you have to be able to work with multiple databases, hence the only flavor of OEM that will do it is GC.

  • OEM GRID AGENT

    hi,
I have already installed OEM 10g Grid Control OMS on my linux sever which also has EBS R12.1.
I want to manage our EBS 11i which resides on another server
I downloaded the Linux_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0.zip file from OTN,
and put it to the target server and unzip it.
Then I runInstaller and choose add management server.
I followed this link for the agent install>
    http://www.idevelopment.info/data/Oracle/DBA_tips/Enterprise_Manager/OEM_12.shtml#Install%20Management%20Agent%20%2810.2.0.5%29
But I got stuck up on the Screen Page for entry of
Management Service Host Name > server01.abc.com
Management Service Port         > 4889I got error : The connection can not be established to Oracle Configuration Manager
Reason > Error connecting to server peer not authenticated
But in the server linux fire fox browser, I can access it using > http://server01.abc.com:4889/em
I can not understand why this simple thing to follow just stuck with this
Oracle Configuration Manager > There is a "Test Connection" button there.
And it will not pass over it. How do I test connection from the OS command prompt? What command does this
screen use to validate connection to the OMS server?
Did I miss someting ? a pre-requisite perhaps that is needed by this connection?
What do you mean by "peer authentication"?
    Please help....
    Thanks a lot,
    Ms K

  • New targets need to be added in OEM GRID

    Hi Gurus,
I have OEM grid configured and added four targets in that GRID.
    My question is,
    1. is it possible to add SUN application server to the OEM target?
    2. there are some middle ware utilities are running, I want the status of that utility/service. I mean if the service is down it must be notified. Is it possible to configure in OEM?
Please provide some light on this
    -Thanks & Cheers
    Antony

I have OEM grid configured and added four targets in that GRID.
    My question is,
    1. is it possible to add SUN application server to the OEM target?OEM supports IBM WebSphere Application Server, JBoss Application Server and Apache Tomcat. I am not sure about SUN application server.
To get complete list of targets supprted and plugin required , please check :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oem/extensions/index.html
    2. there are some middle ware utilities are running, I want the status of that utility/service. I mean if the service is down it must be notified. Is it possible to configure in OEM?
If plugin is available for that middleware then you can configure notification rule for that .
Otherwise you can create an OS script and call it in OEM . You can also configure an alert for that.

  • Sending Comparison Report from OEM Grid

    Hi All
I have configured a job to compare a schema objects in two database. I used Grid Control's Change Manager for this. I want an email
to be sent me when ever a comparison job completes and this email should
contain the comparison report of the comparison. I need a report same as we use
to have in change manager which comes with Oracle Administration Client and
generates and HTML report of schema comparison. Can you please help me setting
this. I have already setup configuration of my mail server and email adderess
    in my OEM Grid control.
    Thanks

What you first need to do is set up a notification method.
Then you will need to set up your own notification schedule.
Then add the job you are wanting to run and be alerted on to the notification rules.
Then you will want to subscribe to that/those rules.
Then you will want to check the notification you wish to get in the job itself.

  • Oracle ORA_16000 when trying to add standby instance to existing rac node

I attempted to use dbca to add a new standby instance to an existing cluster. The cluster is 4 nodes, Linux RHEL 5.3 Oracle 11.1.0.7. Also using ASM, asmlib, ocfs2 and shared block devices.
ASM instances are up and functional on all nodes. current config appears to be running normally and correctly.
I have a 4 instance database running on the cluster. I also have 3 physical standby active data guard instances running on 3 of the nodes. I wanted to add a new ADG instance to the 4th node.
While running dbca I received ORA-00604 and ORA-16000.
The active data guard database was open (read only) and redo apply was on. I am using data guard broker as well, but not grid control.
Does anyone have a procedure for adding an instance in this environment? Do I need to have the standby in mount state? If dbca won't work does anyone have a manual procedure for adding a new instance?
    Thanks

    zulo

Do not be concerned about ora.nusclust160##.ons being OFFLINE, as that will be fixed shortly in a step that follows this one.
    5. As oracle :
    On nusclust16007:
    cd /apps/ocr/oracle/product/11.1.0/crs/bin
    ./racgons add_config nusclust160##:6251

    On nusclust16007:
    cd /apps/ocr/oracle/product/11.1.0/crs/bin
./cluvfy comp clumgr -n all -verbose
Should see Verification of cluster manager integrity was successful.
    8.
Use the following command to perform an integrated validation of the Oracle
Clusterware setup on all of the configured nodes, both the preexisting nodes
and the nodes that you have added:
    AS oracle on nusclust16007:
cluvfy stage -post crsinst -n all -verbose

On nusclust160## as oracle run the following:
    cd /apps/ocr/oracle/product/11.1.0/crs/bin
    ./crs_stat -t | grep OFFLINE
    If you see this:
    ora.nusclust160##.ons application ONLINE OFFLINE
    then run this:
    ./crs_start -all
    After:
    ./crs_stat -t
    ora.nusclust160##.ons application ONLINE ONLINE nusclust160##
If you see the above then you can move on the next step.
Adding database binaries to the nusclust160## server and setting up the listener.
    1.
    From nusclust16007:
Open an X window (The OUI part takes 13 minutes)

    ./runInstaller -addNode ORACLE_HOME=/apps/dbs/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1 $*

On the target node, run the Net Configuration Assistant (NETCA) to add a
listener. Add a listener to the target node by running NETCA from the target node and
selecting only the target node on the Node Selection page.
I shall do the following on nusclust160## using X Windows
Now before I do this I see:
    crs_stat -t
    ora.nusclust160##.gsd application ONLINE ONLINE nusclust160##
    ora.nusclust160##.ons application ONLINE ONLINE nusclust160##
    ora.nusclust160##.vip application ONLINE ONLINE nusclust160##
Connect to nusclust160## and open up X windows session.
    netca
    Choose Cluster configuration.
select nusclust160## as the node to configure.
    Choose Listener configuration, then Add.
When it prompts you for a listener name choose LISTENER as it will append _NUSCLUST160##(server name) to end of the LISTENER name to make a complete listener name.
At this point you will have listener to support the new node in the crs.
    now
    crs_stat -t
    will show:
    ora....0#.lsnr application ONLINE ONLINE nusclust160##
    ora.nusclust160##.gsd application ONLINE ONLINE nusclust160##
    ora.nusclust160##.ons application ONLINE ONLINE nusclust160##
    ora.nusclust160##.vip application ONLINE ONLINE nusclust160##
At this point the necessary crs entries for gsd, ons, vip, and the listener on nusclust160## all we need now are the ORADB4 and +ASM4 instances added.

    8. Set up init.ora, listener.ora, and tnsnames.ora for ORADB4 on nusclust160##.
    a. init.ora set up
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
    vi initORADB4.ora
    SPFILE='+DATA1/ORADB/spfileORADB.ora'
    b. add entries to tnsnames.ora:
    ORADB4 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = nusclust160##-vip)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =

    9. Reload the listener.
    lsnrclt
    set current_listener LISTENER_NUSCLUST160##
    reload
    exit
    10. Check audit trail, add instance to cluster, and start db instance.
    a.
Check for audit directory and start the instance.
    /apps/dbs/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/rdbms/audit
If this audit trail directory does not exist then create it.
    b.
    srvctl add instance -d ORADB -i ORADB4 -n nusclust160##
    srvctl modify instance -d ORADB -i ORADB4 -s +ASM4
    srvctl enable instance -d ORADB -i ORADB4
Will probably show: PRKP-1017 : Instance ORADB4 already enabled.
    c.
    sqlplus '/ as sysdba'
    startup
**Because the cluster_database_instances parameter requires the complete shutdown of all instances in the cluster, you might have an issue when it attempts to start the instance. If you receive an error then run:
    srvctl stop database -d oradb
    sqlplus '/ as sysdba'
    startup
    shutdown
    srvctl start database -d oradb
    shutdown
    srvctl start instance -d ORADB -i ORADB4 -o open

  • Steps to add cluster instances/database to GRID 10gr1

    Hi
I need to add cluster databases(10gR2) to OEM Grid (10gR1).
Guys can some one help me with steps / any link?
I got good doc from help link from OEM Help itself. How ever I here we need to do some thing with srvctl to keep quite CRS. if you any one know better/best please stop by and give me some instructions.
    Thanks

    Hi
I am also not very sure about that SRVCTL. I just heard from some other person. If we do not change some parameters while registering with service control then CRS work creazy. I am not sure what that mean is.
I do went to help document. There it is asking me to list 2 cluster servers to note in TARGET.xml. I never tried, one that I ask to work is prod so I do not want to take any kind of risk, so, prior to put that server on GRID, I want to get some BONDs give some suggestions.
How ever currently we do not have any CRS issues.
    Regards,
    RK.

  • How to install OEM Grid Control R2 on RHEL AS4 (AMD64/EM64T)

    Hi all,
I was able to install the Oracle Application Server (Infrastructure and BI and Forms) successfully on the another machine with the same specs. The application I installed on the 64-bit machine is a 32-bit Oracle Application Server.
Now, I tried to install the OEM Grid Control R2 (another 32-bit Oracle Software) on an identical 64-bit machine but had no luck. Ran linux32 bash before trying the install.
I always get the error "error in invoking target 'dm_on ioracle' of makefile 'OH/db10g/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk".
Please help me/guide me in this install if it is at all possible.
    Thanks and regards,
    Mike

Did you read the installation docs?
Did you look up trying to do this on metalink before proceeding?
