Add text to photo

I'm looking for a way to add the date to the picture so that when I'm veiwing it I can easily tell when it was taken.  I'm taking most of my photos via my iPhone and.
Any ideas quick and easy way I can complish this?
Thanks

Not with iPhoto. You can use Preview (already on your Mac) or an external editor.
In order of price here are some suggestions:
Seashore (free)
The Gimp (free)
Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
Acorn ($50 approx)
Pixelmator ($50 approx)
Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

I have looked at lots of apps, and havnt found anything simple and easy.
    Thankyou

You cant on the native phone app, but heres one i found that might do the trick.

  • Can't Add Text to Photo

Using Photoshop Element version 8, I couldn't add text to my photos. I contacted Adobe support and opened a case and was put through a comlicated procedure to rename  my Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 Prefs.psp which I did with no success. Then I was told to create a new user home because mine had probably become corrupted and if this didn't solve the problem to uninstall and reinstall the software. I did uninsall and reinstall the software but was afraid to mess with my user home which was working properly. I still couldn't add text. Then I tried this forum, read a number of posts. Then I read a post by (Tricia_Rouse). She wrote "if all else fails..First try resetting the Text Tool". First make sure the text tool is highlighted. Next go to the Re-set button to re-set this particular tool. In Elements 8 there is a nearly invisible donward facing triangle. Click this tool and then click "Resey Tool" It worked after I had spent the better part of 16 hours on this preoblem. I hope this helps someone. J_Beginner

Thanks everyone... I am quite ready to shoot the screen too! And to have it happen on TWO computers on the very same day...
I will try all of your suggestions...
SaurabhGupta, I had thought of adding a new layer but have never done it before; now I will just do it.... shouldn't be too hard. I think there must be a place that says "add layer" like in Power Point, which I just taught myself.
Alexander, I will also try typing in 200 size font.
Barbara, I seem to be having trouble with both images, from my memory stick AND with photobucket, as well as images I've downloaded to "my pictures".
I am also thinking about sending the image to tech support and seeing if they can figure it out. But in the meantime, I will try all of your suggestions to see what happens.
I will be away from my computer till Thursday but will check back via laptop; won't be any way to access PSE till I get back.
Thank you all SO much for your suggestions!! I so appreciate the support.

  • How to add text to photos[non slides]

I can't find any way to add text to a slide except with slideshow or book page. Surely Aperture couldn't forget this. Anybody??

Aperture didn't forget that -- it's outside its remit.
Aperture provides powerful tools for two tasks:
Digital photograph conversion and development (esp. RAW), and
    Digital asset management (a/k/a DAM).
You might be able to do what you want with the free but full-featured Aperture plug-in Border FX.
For true compositing (combining graphics elements, text, and geometric primatives), you need a graphics program.
Terence Devlin has provided a superb linked list here.

You can't using iphoto. You'll need an external editor. Seasgore is free, Photoshop Elements is relatively inexpensive, Photoshop is very expensive. Graphic Converter may be on your machine already. Search on http://www.macupdate.com

  • How do I add text to a photo when making a calendar from iPhoto?  I see the text box for the dates but not for the actual photo...thanks.

I can't find a way to add text to a photo once it's been put into the top pane of the calendar month...is there a way to do this since I'd like to add a descriptor to the photos?  I see the text box when you click on the calendar date, but don't find one for the photo pane.  Thanks for any assistance.

Right - you can not add text to photos with iPhoto - you must use an external editor

    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60

  • Adding text to photo

I would like to add text to photos - that is have the text appear on the photo itself. Can I do this with iphoto?
    Thanks, M.

Not easily with iPhoto only, but Martin S. has directions for doing so here:
    http://simnet.is/klipklap/iphoto/adding-text/
Rather easier is to use an external editor for the job: starting with free and working up:
    Seashore
    Graphic Coverter
    Acorn
    Photoshop Elements

  • I need to add text over a still photo in iMovie.  Following directions that always worked before but not this time.

I am running OS 10.6.8, an upgrade that I did after Christmas.  A couple of times a year, I need to make a video of my students' performances, and have always been able to add text over the still photos before, using the directions in iMovie "help."  However, this time, I am not able to choose a title style; no amount of clicking makes anything show up on the selected still photo.  And no amount of trying to choose the font style makes anything show up either.
This is iMovie 09; is it possible that it is not compatible with my OS upgrade?
I've been able to insert still photos into the video footage, but can't add any titles or acknowledgements.  Thank you so much for your help!  Since I only do this a couple of times a year, it always takes me forever to accomplish, which is why I printed off the Help directions to follow.

just to make thing clear (sorry for sounding impudent!)
    you do .... :
    create a New Project
make a selection of an Event and add it to the Project
select a title and drag it onto the clip?
iM does work with your OS ...

  • How do i add text to my photos?

How do i add text to my photos - previously you could do this on iphoto

Many users find the excellent and highly-recommended BorderFX more than meets their needs.
A couple of things to note:
    - "Photos" misleads us into an understanding of what we manipulate with our computers that differs from what our computers are programmed to manipulate.  Within Aperture, you have Images (called, imho confusingly, also Versions and also Photos); outside of Aperture you have image-format files that you see listed in the Finder and use in other programs.  BorderFX lets you overlay text and watermarks, and add borders, to Images in Aperture.  When you do this, a new file is created and automatically imported (it becomes a new Original).  You can also export via BorderFX, in which case a file based on your Image and the changes you've set in BorderFX is saved to the location (outside of Aperture) that you specify.
    - Adding text to an Image is a _graphics_ operation, and not a _digital camera file_ operation:  it is outside the remit of Aperture, which hews to being a photographer's non-destructive RAW digital camera file storage and development workspace.  You use Aperture to store, organize, and develop (make as good as possible for a particular use) digital camera files.  When you need a new graphics file, you (generally) export your Image from Aperture, and create new graphics files using a graphics program (e.g.: Photoshop, Pixelmator, GIMP, etc.).  Graphics programs are built from the ground up as compositors.  Aperture does almost no compositing.  BorderFX is a slick, purpose-driven compositing plug-in.

  • Is there any way to add text or arrows onto photos in iPhoto when creating a book?

I am creating a photo book (Album), in iPhoto, in Projects. There are some place where it would be helpful if I could draw an arrow on the Photo to indicate certain places. I also would like to add text onto a photo in the book. This is as well as typing in the 'text box' provided. It needs to be on the actual photo in the book. Is this possible? I am using Version 9.5.1 which i think is the latest and i am running on Maverick on my iMac.

There is no way to add anything to the face of a photo in iPhoto at all You will need an extenral editror for that kind of work. You can add text and arrows etc with Preview, already on your Mac or with apps like these:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store.
