Add the ability to manipulate image data early during the import process

Following many discussions about the inability to cleanly support aspect ratio in LR, it would be useful to have the ability to interviene in the import process (early) and manipulate the exif data. It is possible to attach a metadata preset during import but presets do not give the ability to change the aspect ratio and cropping tags.
This feature could have many other uses such as allowing more complex naming schemes, copy location, etc.

Perhaps your post would be better received in the Lightroom forum? (this is the SDK forum).
Or perhaps better still, the feedback forum: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/import_actionshttp://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/new
SDK-wise: one can easily intervene via plugin and apply whatever transformations pre-import that one could think of...

  • Image date/time format for import naming

When naming images with the image date & time during import, it uses the format of YYYY-MM-DD HHMMSSAP
Is it possible to reconfigure this so
    1) the space in between the date and time is gone
    2) the hyphens in the date are gone
    3) it uses 24 hour time not am/pm?
I didn't see anything in the preferences, nor did I see anything appropriate in the plist.
Unfortunately using that format and then exporting an image from it for the web leaves it with an ugly file name that needs manual editing - I hate seeing URLs with a %20 in them because of spaces in file names.
    Chris

Although I agree that I would like more ability to customize the date and time format (Have you seen the renaming feature in Graphic Converter? It's great!), there is a quick workaround for at least eliminating the space in the name:
    1. Open the name format editing window by selecting Edit from the name format pull-down.
    2. Select Image Date/Time.
    3. Look in the Format field. See how the two ellipses with Date and Time are separated by a little space? That's actually a space character and can be edited.
    4. Put the cursor in that field and replace the space with whatever character you want (like _ for instance).
    5. Now filenames will look like: 2006-04-03_121212PM which is a bit better.
    6. And Aperture very cooly remembers this edit, so on the net import you only have to select Image Date/Time from the pull-down and you still have you edit.
Now, what I want to do is get rid of the -'s in the date and have the time be 24hour format. Sequential and unique names that are as short as possible!

  • Can a script be written to improve the import process?

    Hello everyone -
One of our managers would like to create topics by importing text from Word.  That is simple enough, but she would like to add a 'mapping' function to the import process that would create the topics in the appropriate folder.
For example, the RH table of contents is structured by category (4), state(50) and line of business(15).  The Word file is structured as a table, and in that table are columns for category, state and line of business, along with additional text (such as description, etc).
During the import process, she would like to map the Word file by category, state and line of business.  Using that mapping, import each line of the table and create a topic in the appropriate category, state and line of business.
Is it possible to write a script to accomplish this task?  Or, is this just too complicated an operation?

Photoshop Scripting-wise this seems fairly "easy".
But I would recommend creating a template file (that already combines background image, png overlay and the Type Layers).
Maybe data driven graphics would also be an option …

  • Import not responding after completing the import process

    Hi All,
This is the problem i am facing:
    1. Imp utility is not terminated after the import process is done. Had to manually terminate the process with ctrl+c or ctrl+break.
    2. Log Files are not generated properly. Log file are created and updated partially.
    3. Although database is effected with all the changes there in the dump file, it is not being shown on the screen (and hence log is not appended).
    4. When using SHOW=Y parameter, Imp process is terminated successfully with success/warning/error messages and log files are generated properly.
I have checked in the database: although the results are not shown on the screen ( or log not getting generated), the db is effected with all changes in the dump file up to last line.
    5. Commands I have fired:
    imp [email protected] file='Y:\IDW Analysis for Initial Load\IDW Data\isdshrd_temp\GROUP_DIM.dmp' log=c:\ImpLogs\ACCESS_GROUP_DIM.log fromuser=GEAM_DIM touser=kanchk

    Please respond asap
    Thanks,

As an experiment, can you try to import the same on the database server itself. This will help us to understand is it network issue or something else.

  • Speedup the import process using imp tool

    hi,
how many ways to speedup the import process using imp tool in oracle 9.2.0.8

    Hi,
    Follow below guidelines also:
    IMPORT(imp):
Create an indexfile so that you can create indexes AFTER you have imported data. Do this by setting INDEXFILE to a filename and then import. No data will be imported but a file containing index definitions will be created. You must edit this file afterwards and supply the passwords for the schemas on all CONNECT statements.
Place the file to be imported on a separate physical disk from the oracle data files.
Increase DB_CACHE_SIZE (DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS prior to 9i) considerably in the init$SID.ora file
Set the LOG_BUFFER to a big value and restart oracle.
Stop redo log archiving if it is running (ALTER DATABASE NOARCHIVELOG;)
Create a BIG tablespace with a BIG rollback segment inside. Set all other rollback segments offline (except the SYSTEM rollback segment of course). The rollback segment must be as big as your biggest table (I think?)
Use COMMIT=N in the import parameter file if you can afford it
Use STATISTICS=NONE in the import parameter file to avoid time consuming to import the statistics
Remember to run the indexfile previously created.
Note: Before following the above guideliness check your requirement aso.
    Best regards,
    Rafi.

I recently downloaded a movie with an avi extension, I changed it to .m4v and then tried to import it into iTunes but never goes through the importing process and it never shows up.

    That WON'T convert it.
If I do the same with an MP3 and change the extension to JPG, it DOESN'T make it a picture. It makes it unusable.
Change it back to AVI and download "Handbrake". http://handbrake.fr/
Use HandBrake to "convert" it to M4V.

  • How do I load a picture from the clipboard (either Windows clipboard or Labview clipboard) into image data that can then be processed in Labview?

I want to load a picture from the Windows clipboard (and if not possible, then from the Labview clipboard) into actual numerical image data so that it can be processed in lab view. When I'm at the main screen where I can add controls, I see a section of controls called "Vision" in the tool bar where all the different controls can can be added from. When I go to the control called "Image" and put that on my form, and then look at the flowchart/blockdiagram programing window to see what inputs and outputs it has, I only see one output, and no inputs. And when I right click on it, I see NO way to load an image into the Image control. PLEASE help me.
Message Edited by Ben321 on 11-09-2008 04:32 PM

    Hi Ben,
National Instruments has an image processing software called Vision and although I am not completely sure, I think the controls that you found in the control pallet are used in conjunction with the software. Depending on what kind of image processing you want to conduct in LabVIEW, you might want to consider purchasing that product.
If cost is an issue, there are functions in LabVIEW which allows you to take in image files and process them. However, please keep in mind that the capabilities are limited.
Images should be loaded onto LabVIEW not via the clipboard but through loading it from folders or directories. (There might be a way to and so if you find a way please let me know! I would like to know myself =D) If you open the function pallet by right clicking on the block diagram, in the programming folder you should find a directory called "Graphic and Sound". There, you'll find functions in which allows you to process images.
In the "Graphic Type" directory there should be a function called Read JPEG file.vi. There are also others which allows you to read png and bmp files. Please note that there are functions which write as well. Set a file path on the block diagram and inside the "Grahic and Sound" there is a "Picture Function" directory and inside there, there should be a function called "Draw Flattened Pixmap.vi" That changes the image into a format where you can process on LabVIEW. Inside the "Picture Function" directory there are several functions which allows you to process the specified image. Play around with it and see how it goes. And don't forget to Write the file in the end to save any changes.
    I hope this helps

  • Question about the import process in UC&CU upgrade

    Hi,
    We have are doing an UC&CU upgrade ( 4.7 => ERP6 ehp4)
We have export the database (unicode converssion) and we are in the step where it's the import.
I would to kno what i have to do in this SAPinst step :
Database Schema Database objects have been found in the database schema (dv1 in DV1) used for this installation. You must delete these objects, or use another database or SAP SID as entered in the previous dialogs.
and there is check box : Delete existing database objects.
I would like to be sure about this option.
I supose i have to valid this option if someone could confirm this point.

If you do a Unicode conversion (no matter in a UC & CU scenario or as a single project) the target system must be empty - means, you will create a new database and load it with the content you exported.
You can't install the export into your already existing database with the same name.

  • Accessing WS data set during selection screen processing in BG processing

    Hello ABAPers,
I am attempting to access a working storage table variable that is set during selection screen processing after the user submits the program to background processing (using F9).
I have tried using export to memory id in the at selection screen section and then import from memory id in the start-of-selection section, but it does not seem to work all of the time.  Is there a better way of doing this?
    Thanks

  • On my Macbookpro computer when I import a photo to LR, the photos import two stops overexposed. I have not done anything to set up the import process. Freshly installed LR from CC

I just downloaded LR 5.7 on my new MacBookPro computer. I did not set up any presets or anything at all, for that matter. When I import a photo, it changes in exposure automatically. Two stops overexposed!! I never had that issue with my other LR programs on Dell.
    any advice?

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
    1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
    2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
    1. Right click images you want to share.
    2. Select Export version.
    3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
    4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
    See how you go.

  • Aperture Video Import Problem - from Lumix GH4: Imported clips have their dates changed to the import date.  The files show up on the hard drive but many are not showing up in Aperture.

Aperture Video Import Problem - from Lumix GH4: Imported clips have their dates changed to the import date.  The files show up on the hard drive with import date not created date, but many of these same files are not showing up in Aperture. Sometimes the clips actually show up with the current import but take on the video information from a previously imported file.

It was suggested I move this question to IPhoto or IMovie which I did.
Well moving to a different discussion group did not provide an answer to this question either. But what I finally did was import one batch of photos and videos into IPhoto for a given day at a time. Working with these I could change the date and times in order to get them in the original sequench taken. Then I would create an album with that batch. These would all be on the same day (IMove was closed for this phase). Then I would open IMovie, generate the thumbnails for that album, and select the album I had created. This was necessary because the importing process in IPhoto was using incorrect dates for my video so it was a real struggle finding them in IMove until I developed this approach.
I believe that this whole process was so screwy because I was importing from an external hard drive not a camera. I had these photos on a PC and did not have the original cameras to use to import directly which I am fairly sure would have made this easier!

  • How does LR Import process sort images on memory card

It seems as if there is no rhyme of reason as to how the import process presents the previews to select for import. I did s shoot last night and the images are spread out over different areas between other photos that I took in the past. Shouldn't they just be sorted by image name so they are presented together?

Check which sort type you have at the bottom of the Import Window

  • Import process takes a lot of time to connect to schemas in the RPD

    Hi Gurus,
I am facing this problem where when I start to import tables from my database into the rpd, it takes hours to load/display the schemas. Once I select tables, the import process takes another hour.
Does this look like a setting issue on OBIEE end or database connectivity? I can connect to the database through SQL developer within seconds with the same credentials. Its eating a lot into my dev time. Please suggest at the earliest. Much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dan

tried it. It keeps saying connection failed. My problem is my connection is fine. I can connect without the localhost:port/sid. The next step of choosing Tables,views.. that screen too loads within a second. Once I hit next on that screen, it takes a lot of time for my schema to show up.
My setup here is I hv downloaded the admin tool only, created a dsn connection and trying to import tables in online mode. All connections work fine but they take a lot of time.
I just need to validate if its a database connecticity issue or obiee connectivity.
