Add the same email address twice
Hi there,
I am in the process of moving my email address from gmail to a server.
I am keeping my gmail one going for awhile to reference old emails so ideally I would like to have my email address connected to google and the same email address added connect to my server. So I will receive new emails from my new server and the same email address to see my old emails on google.
Is it possible to add the same email account twice but connect to different servers?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Jamie
Isn't your original email address used for an icloud account, or is it an old one from mobileme? If the latter, and the account was not upgraded to icloud, then no, you can't use it. When you create a new icloud account, you specify an ID (which is used as the email address). It must be an unused ID.

I have an OS X 10.6.8 and have had problems with my mail. I have changed my account settings with my mail provider, but they suggest I now delete my account and add a new account with the same email address. Will this delete my email history? Can anyone please advise?
I have the same problem as the emails go to my iCloud account that I cannot access!!! I cannot answer the security questions as someone else must have set up my iCloud account. Nothing seems to work. It would be great if someone has some ideas as what can be done to recover the situation?

I have in the past created an Apple ID for use with the UK itunes store, because I want to read in English. If I sign in it seems that this ID will only allow me to purchase from the UK store. But I live in Belgium, so I can't download from the UK store. So I tried to create an apple ID for the Belgian itunes store. But I want to use the same email address as I used for the first apple ID I made (because I'm fed up of having to remember which email address I used for which account). When I tried this, I just get a message saying that the email address is already in use for another account (which I know, because it's me who made that account). Does anyone have a workaround for this?
cheers
AndrewI have tried again using the same password. and it still doesn't work.
I'm presuming you went ahead and set up a new Apple ID, yes? Using the same password in more than one Apple ID has worked for me in the past, but I haven't tried it in a while so the tightened security may have changed that. You could use the same password but add "-UK" and "-BE", or something like that, to make it easier to remember.
I understand what you mean about losing the ability to deal with UK purchased stuff, but this is becoming so inconvenient that I do want to delete that UK apple ID account. I have looked everywhere I can think of on the apple website (apple id, itunes, support etc) and I can't find a link/eplanation/contact point that deals with deleting apple ID and itune store accounts. Surely this must be possible?
It's possible, but Apple is very reluctant to do it, and it's not something a user can do on their own. It would be better to just stop using the UK account rather than trying to get it deleted. Just remove your payment information and there should be little reason to have the account deleted. If you really want to try, though, you'll need to send a message to iTunes support specifying that you want the account cancelled.
On a completely different matter, I have bought my son an ipod touch. But since he is younger than 13 years old, how does one go about using the itunes store to get music onto his ipod touch?
You would need to buy tracks for him; he's too young to have his own iTunes Store account. To control what gets synched to his iPod, this should help:

My husband and I share an Itunes account so use the same email address and password. Our iphones are now connected and we get each other's messages and share each other's contacts. How can we stop this happening?
A couple of different approached:
Create a second AppleID for one of you that includes the email address and phone number you wish to use for messaging, but do not apply it to the iTunes and app store (just keep the current one). My wife and I do this and it works quite well. Also allows for easier syncing of Contacts , notes etc. using icloud if you wish to do that.
Add additional emails/phone numbers to the existing account and change the Send/Receive settings for Messages. this will not fix the Contcts isues for you however. -
Hy please help...
My husband purchased an iphone at xmas and evrything was fine until i purchased 1 yesterday . We both use the same email address which is linked to our itunes account (ithink) I registered mine yesterday and all my husbands contacts came on to my phone, so i deleted them and he lost them all on his phone :-( now if he adds or deletes anything i get it or the other way round please please helpIf you are saying that you both have iCloud accounts and use the same icloud ID, then yes, the contacts will be deleted. The idea is that all devices using the same icloud ID are kept in sync. You need to use different IDs. You can keep the same iTunes ID so you can share the songs and apps. But use different icloud IDs.

I have an iPhone 4 and a 4th gen iPod linked to the same email address and apple ID. I am trying to change the email address on the iPod so a family member can use it but when I do it says it doesn't recognize the email address. Where am I going wrong ? I just want them to be able to iMessage and email without having to use my email address.
The procedure is Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>Add another email address. The email address has to be a valid working email address, obviously. Apple should verify the email address and you have to go to the inbox of that email account, read the verification email from Apple and follow the inductions in the email in order to complete the verification. Then you go back to the settings, uncheck your email address and check the new email address to be used as the contact email address.

How did you "add that email to the original account"?
You changed the AppleID to your new email address? -
Merging two accounts on the same email address?
Somehow, by going through fits and starts of using skype and never quite remembering my username, I have 3 skype accounts registered to the same email address. Is it possible to merge these into one, or to remove two of them etc? It becomes endlessly confusing, because I give people my email to add me as a contact and they never know which one is me.
Thanks in advance!Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Nope...only one actual email address. But, if you can create an alias on either server, you might be able to use that. If I recall correctly, MS issues an additional email address (hosted something or other...can't recall for sure) for their services. Or you might be able to create an alias that works on the Domino server. But, you can only integrate one email address once to a BB device.
Good luck! -
My husband and I share the same email address at home. Is there some way creating an Apple ID using the same email address? We have multiple apple devices at home (2x iphone4, imac, mini ipad, and notebook) and want our emails from that one address to come through on the different devices.
No, you cannot have the same primary email address used for two separate Apple IDs.
However, you can sign into the same email address on your separate devices for the purposes of receiving mail. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts & Calendars > Add Account.
Apple IDs are for using Apple services, like the App Store, iTunes, etc.
Email addresses (while used as the NAME of an Apple ID), are separate entities. -
Hello can someone help me I have an iphone 4 and my daughter has an ipod touch we are on the same email address but somehow with in the last 25hrs all of my contacts are gone and only hers on on my phone is there a way for me to get all my contacts back?
If you need assistance with finding any of your restores or attempting to restore from any that happened prior to his incident follow this article
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
IF you do find a backup that has your contacts; I'd /highly/ recommand turning off your wifi network after the restore is finished because if the issue is with your iCloud your contacts may merge back with her's.
With iCloud you DO NOT want to share the account; bad things happen Evil evil thigns...
But in all seriousness; if two devices have the same iCloud; iCloud is told to merge and sync infomation between hte two and can't tell that it doesn't belong to the same person -
My icloud and Apple ID aren't the same email address. My phone wont let me change my icloud email. I don't know the password to my icloud account, and every time I try to email myself the password, it doesn't go through.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your Apple ID and iCloud email address don't need to be the same, you can't change an iCloud email address.
Also check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether. You may also wish to contact your mail provider to see if their spam filters are removing the email before it gets to you. -
My husband and I both have an iPhone and we share an iPad. We also share the same email address so how would this work with iCloud because we don't share all the same contacts?
ThanksAn icloud account is designed to be used by one user. That user can have all his/her devices synced with the same Apple data (email, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc.) . When two people use the same account, then problems usually occur when one user edits data that the other user doesn't want changed on their device. You can continue sharing the same ID for the itunes account in order to share the purchased music, apps, etc. itunes accounts and icloud accounts are different.
It's by far better that each user has his/her own icloud account. -
My husband just got an iphone. I've had mine for a while. We use the same email address so I thought we could use the same apple id and password. But now it appears everything on my phone also shows up on his phone and vis versa, even "Notes." Not good. How do I unlink them?

Can all 4 devices have different apple ID under the same email address. Also I wanted to know because for the game center we wanted to keep track of each individual not just o e account. Two Apple ID with the same email address.
Hello,
I have 2 Apple ID's using the same email address.
When I sign in with my Apple ID in the Apple Support Communities web he request me to "Choose your Apple Support Communities username.", So I write a user name and click continue - and this error message is shown: "account utilizing this email address already exists. Only one account per email address is allowed on Apple Support Communities."
I know which Apple ID user using this email address but I can't change to different email address (this option in "Edit Profile" is impossible).
What I can do?!This advice is not proper for the issue at hand.
Your advise lets you reset the Apple ID not verify your current ID.
In either case the recommended link does not work at this time - nor gives any response as to why you do not recieve the email they promise!!
