Add '+' to all positive numbers using custom format

I am a whiz at Excel but took the plunge for Numbers recently. Many things I cannot figure out how to do, but the current one is, I want some cells to always show + and - for the integers. So, things like:
+9
-5
+14
etc.
How do I set that up? My feeble attempts so far make negative numbers appear with both.

In the custom format window,
1) Click the plus sign.
2) Choose "if greater than 0"
3) Click in the new format line then use the left arrow to get to the left of what's already there
4) Type a +
5) If you want the format to be integers, skip this step. If you want decimal places then drag the decimal format up from below and drop one on the right of the original format and one on the right of your new format. Choose how many decimals you want for each. Choose to show trailing zeros if you want them.
6) Click OK

  • Adding a currency in numbers missing custom format option

    I just paid for numbers latest version June 2012. iPad 3' v5.1.1.     Want to format a cell as a currency not in the little list chosen by apple.  Forums suggest using the custom format option but I can not see this anywhere?  Any ideas how to add a custom format or how to extend the list of currencies to all currencies. If nothing else missing out a countries currency as too unimportant to include is just plain rude!

    1) You posted to the Numbers on Mac OS X forum ( Apple Support Communities > iWork > Numbers >   Discussions ).  The iWork for iOS forum is more likely to provide the direct answer...
       it is here:  https://discussions.apple.com/community/app_store/iwork_for_ios
    2) you can add custom formats (demonstrating from Numbers for Mac OS X) by opening the cells inspector:
    Then naming the new format and setting the parameters of the format:
    If the currency symbol is not in the list then you can preceed (or follow) the value with the proper symbol:

  • How to Concatenate Date in T-SQL using custom format?

    Hi:
    I have a column in SQL Server 2008 R2, [ENTERED_DATE].  This is a datetime, formatted like so:
    2011-01-25 07:32:21.000
    I need to display this as:  2011-01-01, where the DAY always = 01.
    I've tried all manner of CAST, CONVERT, concatenate, etc.
    I don't really want to CONVERT from datetime, just display in a custom format.
    Thanks!

  • Formating Numbers Using Word Format Mask

    Hello!
    Usually i use this format command to format my elements inside of each layout ( '<?format-number:Total_Price_w_o_Tax_ID12;'999G999D99'?>' ) but in this specific case i have one form field that contains the sum of a xml field ( ' <?sum(current-group()/Taxable_Ammount_ID9)?>' ) and i cant use format-number command to the format so i tryied with word format mask #.00##0,00. My problem is when i have for exemple 75 with 00 decimals it appears '75' and i want '75.00' . if i have 75.29 i dont have problems . Someone know how i can get '75.00' instead of '75' ?
    Thanks in advance

    Instead of using format-number, could you do this?
    <?xdoxslt:pat_format_number(sum(current-group()/Taxable_Ammount_ID9), '#.00', $_XDOLOCALE)?>

  • Can cells set to custom format appear differently on different versions of MS OFFICE?

    I'm currently involved in a data enrichment project where we convert some financial data for our clients in excel. We've been facing a problem with date formats in the reports sent to us by the client.
    We're supposed to enter 4 different dates in separate columns with 3 different formats. For example in one column the date format should appear in the dd/mm/yyyy format and in another as dd-mm-yyyy. What we've done is set all these cells to CUSTOM format
    and in the TYPE dialog in the Custom Tab typed "dd\/mm\/yyyy" where we need the date to appear as dd/mm/yyyy and "dd-mm-yyyy" where we need the date to appear as dd-mm-yyyy.
    However, the client says that when he downloads the file on his computer he sees the date formats set to DATE and not CUSTOM. Is this possible?
    Can a cell set to CUSTOM FORMAT appear differently on a different version of MS OFFICE?
    Does the Operating System also have a role to play in this?
    For example if we've typed our data in OFFICE 2007 on a system with XP as the OS, will it not open as CUSTOM when we open it in OFFICE 2010 with Windows 7 as the OS?
    We need serious help on this as this confusion has put our project in jeopardy.

    Thanks for the help Jim. Just to make it clearer we haven't used quotation marks in the date formats. Further, we were told to use back slash by the client cause according to them this would help in keeping the date formats as fixed to custom format on any
    computer that the file is opened on.
    What I'm trying to figure out is that if a cell is set to a custom format, can it appear differently when opened on a different computer?
    We've sent the file using Sendspace.com to our clients and when we download the file and open it on any version of MS Office we still see the custom formats in the date fileds. However, the client insists that it appears differently on their computers.
    Is it possible for a cell set to a custom format to not appear as custom on a different computer?
    Just to remind you again that we've downloaded the file on almost every version of Office and have noticed no change in the formats set by our team. How then is it possible that the dates doesn't appear as custom formats on their system?
    I would really appreciate if you could help me solve this situation.

  • Error while using customizing object DNL_PLANT to download Plants

    Hi All,
    I am using customizing object  DNL_PLANT to download plants from the R/3 system to the our CRM system.
    From the table T001W (in R/3) to the table CRMM_LOCMAP (in CRM).
    From this I am able to download the required Plants from the R/3 to CRM.
    But the issue i am facing is that there are few entries (BP) defined as ( VERB- Affilated to Companies ) are also downloaded to the same table.
    And these BP have been asssigned one more role other than VERB i.e. BBP003 now. These BP were intially present in the CRM system with role VERB only.Now they have two roles i.e. VERB and BBP003.
    Is there anyway we can revert these entries from the table (CRMM_LOCMAP).
    Or we remove the etra role (BBP003) added to the BP, by removing thses role by simply using BP transaction and removing the role.
    Please suggest.
    Cheers,
    Sharad

    Hi,
    is this a static class with an inner class you created: GlAccountClasses.GaclAcctType ? If not then this cannot be found. If you want to pass the reference to another View Object, use
    a) a method exposed on the other VO Impl class
    b) The ViewLink accessor
    If you are using Groovy on a VO level then it doesn't help if you have accessors defined on the EO level
    This may help too: http://blogs.oracle.com/raghuyadav/entry/groovy_samples

  • Has someone knowlege of how to use Custom Number Format in Numbers V3.0

    Hello Everyone,
    From Excel to Numbers '09 I worked with Custom Number Format.
    Making formats like 60 sec, km/h or m/s².
    In the new Version 3.0 it is not under 'Format'/Custom Number Format.
    I did not find it! Has someone found a way to do it the old way.
    I am working with the German version.
    Bye

    Limmy,
    There is no option in Numbers 3.0 for Custom Format. If that is mandatory for your purposes, it is still available in Version 2.3.

  • Add (concatenate) a string to the end of a numerical field value (custom format script)?

    Hello All!
    1) I have a form field where a customer can input mileage (e.g. 48,000)
    I would like to be able to dynamically place the comma in the proper place as well as add " miles" to the end of the value the user input.
    For example:
    If the user types "123456" into the field, I would like for it to display as "123,456 miles"
    I assume this will require some custom format javascript... I'm familiar with the general syntax of JavaScript, but don't really know specific keywords/object names to use, I have a few custom calculation scripts in the form, and I've done some simple thing like concatenate two fields into one, etc.
    But this is a little different, because I'm only working with data from one field. I tried:
    event.value += " miles";
    However, this causes " miles" to get added everytime ANY field changes... so I end up getting "123,456 miles miles miles miles" as the user makes changes to other fields.
    2) Also, to further complicate things, is it possible to "remove" the custom formatting when the field gains focus? For example, if you use Acrobat's default number format ($1,394.00) on a field, when the user selects that field to edit the value, the formatting "disappears" so that the user would only see "1394".
    I would like to achieve the same with my custom field, so when the user selected the field that displays "123,456 miles" to change the value, they would only see/edit "123456"
    A bit wordy, I know, but thanks for any help!

    Here's a simple way. Begin by creating a new document-level JavaScript and include the following code:
    function my_format() {
        // Format number (no decimal point, comma thousands separator, etc.)
        AFNumber_Format(0, 0, 0, 0, "", false);
        // Add " miles" if there is an entry
        event.value = event.value ? event.value + " miles" : "";
    function my_keystroke() {
        // Restrict entry to characters consistent with a number
        AFNumber_Keystroke(0, 0, 0, 0, "", false);
    For the field in question, add the following as the custom Format script:
    my_format();
    and the following as the custom Keystroke script:
    my_keystroke();

  • How does one format "phone numbers" using "Numbers"?

    Want all phone numbers to format as (555) 555 5555
    How is this done?

    Hi Thomas,
    The old Numbers will be on your computer unless you deleted it. Look in a folder called iWork '09 inside your Applications folder. Launch Numbers 2 (Numbers '09) and do what you used to do to create a Custom Cell Format. For example, you might want a nine-digit phone number to appear as (123) 456 789.
    Save that document. To protect it from Numbers 3.0, make a copy of that document with a different name. Ensure that both your original Phone Number documents are closed (to protect them from that bully Numbers 3.0). Then Open the copy in Numbers 3.0. The custom format will be listed in Format Inspector > Cell > Data Format
    Type a nine-digit number into any cell and format the cell with Format Inspector > Cell > Data Format > Phone Numbers.
    Note: copying a cell with Custom Format in Numbers 2 and then pasting into Numbers 3 does not work. The pasted cell ends up as Text, and the Custom Format is not added to the Data Format list.

    Ian.

  • Creating a custom format for angles that adds a degree symbol

    I am creating a fillin form.  I would like to customize the format of a number field to add a degree symbol to the numbers added by the user.  So when the users types in 90 a small elevated circle representing degrees automatically appears after the digits.  Can I do this?

    OK, probably the easiest way is to take advantage of Acrobat's built-in formatting routines for a number and adapt it to use a degree symbol. In the sample linked to below I created a document-level JavaScript and added the following two functions:
    function degreeFormat() {
        AFNumber_Format(0, 1, 0, 0, "\u00b0", false);
    function degreeKeystroke() {
        AFNumber_Keystroke(0, 1, 0, 0, "\u00b0", false);
    Which get called from the field's custom Format and Keystroke events, respectively:
    // Custom Format script
    degreeFormat();
    // Custom Keystroke script
    degreeKeystroke();
    Here's where you can download a sample: https://acrobat.com/#d=t241U3Pj0w0FztiQw5jgSw
    This allows decimal entries, but rounds to the nearest whole number for display. If you don't want a user to enter a fractional part, the script is a bit more complicated, but can be done.

  • How to delete a custom format in Numbers 3

    I am one of the poor unfortunates that has upgraded to Numbers 3 BIG mistake!!
    However does anyone know how to delete a custom format in Numbers 3?
    I'm not sure where the custom format came from in the erlier version of numbers. I guess I must have created it for something, I can't remember what.
    It now appaers that when I send a Numbers 3 document via email to an Excel format  it adds a weird custom format that turns currency into garbage. Once in Excel simply going to format cells and deleting this odd format cures the problem.
    If I could find a way of deleting it in Numbers 3, hopefully the problem will go away.
    This is far from the only problem I'm having with Numbers 3. It's begining to look like I'll have to abandon Numbers 3 having had to go to the expense of buying a new iPad because Numbers 3 documents (and presumably Pages Keynote etc) no longer work on the original iPad.

    I never promote the method the deletion unless you understand the underlying tables of planning, if you search on the forum you will see posts on the subject just like this one - Delete dimension from planning application

  • "Output could not be issued" when using custom page formats

    Dear all,
    I created a custom page format using SPAD. Its dimension is 7.5cm x 10cm (190mm x 254mm). I also created this page format in windows and set as the default paper size in my printer. However, when trying to print a smartform using this size, the message "Output could not be issued" is given. When I use the standard paper sizes (e.g., LETTER, DINA4), the form prints OK.
    Can you point me to the direction to solving this?
    Thank you!
    Kyle

    Issue resoved.
    For those who are encountering the same problem, here's what I did. I tested the smartform by itself and it reported the specific error: the page format is not supported in device type SWIN. I added it in another device type SAPWIN. This was just a simple miscommunication between the admins and the developer. I added the format in SWIN and everything works fine.
