Check out their site for a FAQ on how to embed this service
into your
own site. Technically it's just a linked image, you just have
to find
out what you have to put into the link.

For me it's not. I don't use them, none of them. While the
idea is not
that bad in general (but not that convincing either), IMHO
it's really
stupid to have two dozen of these services. Do you really
want to have
that many little ugly icons on your pages? I clearly don't.
People who use these services could also add bookmarklets to
their
browser or even use a browser like Flock for example, which
has built-in
support for such "social services". This would allow them to
bookmark
_any_ site and not only these with two dozen little ugly
items on them.

Del.icio.us Contextual Menu for Safari

I am new to Apple and don't know anything about AppleScripts and stuff like that.
What I want to do is be able to view an RSS feed, right click on the hyperlink to a particular item in the feed and select "Add to Del.icio.us" which would then open the "your bookmarks" page in Del.icio.us where I can then add the item to My Del.icio.us. The goal here is to save me the trouble of opening posts when I can already tell from the headline/abstract in my RSS feed that I want to save the item to Del.icio.us.
I also don't want to jump through hoops to do this because I am not saavy about these things.
Any ideas?

I never did an answer so I guess no one is offering what I was hoping to find. Oh well.

I am sure everyone know about http://del.icio.us - the site that started the "social bookmarking" concept. I had registered for it a long time back but didnt really start to use it. The concept was great but the website was light on features and browser integration.
I visited it recently and it is much better, they have RSS feeds, browser buttons, Firefox extensions, the whole works.
What does everyone think about sharing their usernames on this forum and any interesting tags they assign to items? This way, we can all share our travels through the Internet and maybe even subscribe to each others' RSS feeds.
Who knows, with the proper care and feeding, this can even grow into the FAQ/wiki thing that we were talking about on that other thread.
Just assign tags in abundance, put in some notes when you post to delicious, maybe even add some tinypic.com screenshots and voila! - a community-maintained dynamic resource to search for HTML DB questions complete with forum links and examples.

Can't login to del.icio.us with new Tiger installation

Apologies if this isn't the right forum -- please point me in the appropriate direction.
I recently finally installed Tiger (I think it's 4.11--it's the most recent version that will run on my single-brain iMac)-- and now I can't access my del.icio.us account via any of my browsers (Firefox, Safari, IE 5.1 or Netscape). The site apparently doesn't recognize my user ID and password. I changed no browser settings. I can access the site and account fine with IE on my PC so the account is there. The Yahoo/del.icio.us customer service folks suggested making sure cookies were acceptable (the default with firefox, no problems I can see) and that I might have a login script security setting that needed to be changed. Since it's inaccessible via all browsers, I assume this means something at the OS X level but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.
Have others experienced this? Suggestions are appreciated.

If many are Repaired, you may need to reapply the update.

Unable to access del.icio.us

As of this morning, I am unable to get the del.icio.us pages to load. The only suspicion I have is that I cleared the Java caches (and Safari history, cache & icons - to try to speed things up a bit) earlier.
When I try to access the del.icio.us site I get the following message, which means nothing to me:

Can anyone help me try to fathom what's happened here?

No problem accessing that site here with Firefox or IE 11.
You might try getting a different WAN IP address for your router, just in case sateliteguys is blocking your specific IP.
You can drill through router settings to release the WAN IP and hope it will get a next one in a few minutes, but the surest way is to power down the router overnight and the power it back up in the morning.
I suggest you try that and see if it fixes the problem.

Safari can't open del.icio.us, for some reason. Help!

This is probably something quite obvious, but I'm all out of ideas, so hopefully you can help! I also hope it hasn't been asked before, though I've searched previous topics...
For some reason, Safari displays the 'Failed to open' page whenever I visit http://del.icio.us. "The server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy," it says. "You might be able to open the page later."
I've tried later, I've cleared my cache, I've tried it on another browser and even on a Windows machine. Might there be something with my network, perhaps my IP address or - and I'm getting into areas I don't know much about - something about my DNS settings that are preventing me from seeing this particularly website?
I really hope someone can help - all my bookmarks are stored at del.icio.us!

Well i don't know yet. I read in some other posts that safari has problems in some specific web links. Till now safari is running tranquil and "cozy" i can say but let's hope that it was a myspace problem, cause i own a music booking agency company and the internet is my most important tool for my work and promotion.
If the safari is making that problems then i suggest to Apple that they should try the application's reliability first before giving them for public usage.
Hope that the updates in the future will fix some "small" problems of the OS X Snow Leopard.

Listen to add/upd/del on a db table using JClient

I am building a UI that views a log table on the database. The log table is constantly updated by external procedures in the DB. I've used the BC4J wizard to import the log table and built a UI client around this.
Is there a way to listen to events on the underlying table using the framework I've built. i.e can the BC4J entities recieve notifications about row add/upd/del and relay this to the VO?
Any help appreciated. (Otherwise I have to consider a background timer that refreshes the view every n minutes).

IOS 8: del.icio.us service in the Action Extensions pane?

I am an old time user of the del.icio.us online bookmark service (remember them!) and have been starved of it's services since switching to Safari. There are offerings but on iOS not so.
Only just recently did it dawn on me that one could be made compatible with Safari now iOS 8 allows for extensions in the "Action Extension" menu and was wondering (not being a developer myself) if del.icio.us could be made to work here?
The thing is all of the existing options appear to be a single click affair, while adding a webpage to the del.icio.us service requires input in the way of Tags from the user (either written or selected) and am unsure if it could be possible?

Trying to add a DELL (Lexmark) V715w printer to my MacBook Pro

Purchased a DELL branded Lexmark V715w AIO printer a month or so back. I was able to install it to my Windows based home system. When I try and add it to my MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, I cannot get it to print at all. It will show up in the print and scan Queue fine, but will never print anything when a document or picture is sent to it.
I have tried multiple versions of both DELL and Lexmark drivers, updated the firmware, downloaded the newest MAC Lion drivers to no avail. I like this printer, and hope that someone can assist me in getting it setup for use.
When I try and complete teh Lexmark Wireless assistant, it hangs at the Connect USB cable screen and never allows the "Continue" button to be selected (stays grayed out), I found a fix for this on the windows side, but nothing for us MAC users.
Any assistantance would be greatly appreciated, starting to get tired of saving to a UB Stick and getting on the Windows machine to print items.

If the printer is a wireless capable printer and it is connecting to a wireless network, make sure it is properly connected to the wireless network first. The printer may have to be connected to the Mac initially via USB.
As stated in that article the printer may need to be connect directly to the Mac Via USB during the initial setup.
What a joke.

Like someone else, I keep getting a pop-up message that says "api.del.icio.us:443 USPS uses an invalid security certificate"; However the pop up is so persistent I cannot use Firefox at all, I am posting this from Safari.

I have tried clicking on "cancel" or "details" and nothing will dismiss the message.

Del.icio.us playtagger keeps disappearing

Hello!
The forum was very helpful when I asked how to add a "play" button to my webpages so that mp3 files would play right on the page. It worked for a while, but I've noticed (while uploading revised pages) that the script has disappeared from all my html files. I had used Text Wrangler to add the script. I used it again to put the script back in, but it's still not working. If I click on the mp3 it will play, but will open a separate page first. That's rather clunky when the little blue arrow was so nice. Any suggestions?

You are correct. After you update your pages, iWeb will overwrite the playtagger code and you will have to reenter it into your pages.
A lot of time after you make updates, the changes may not appear in your browser because of caching issues. Try emptying your browser cache. With Safari, if you look under the Safari menu, select "Empty cache..." Then reload your page and see if you see the playtagger stuff reappear.
Otherwise, you can check your html files manually and make sure that your program is making the correct additions.

Another iMac G3 down

Similar to Londonman's issue, but different.
I inherited a Graphite iMac G3 600 MHz 256 Mb RAM running Sys. 9.1. I've been a Mac guy since 1986 and am a more-than-average experienced user, but this things got me stumped.
While tooling around on the machine I noticed it was just buggy and not doing things right. So I rebuilt the desktop. Still running oddly. Zapped the PRAM. Still running oddly. I decided to reinstall. So, I inserted the 9.1 boot disk, set up the "startup disk" to be the boot disk and rebooted. It booted using the system on the harddrive. I rebooted while holding down the "C' key. It still rebooted with the harddrive. So I thought I'd go ahead and try running the 9.1 installer. It told me that that software couldn't run on my machine (!!!). How can that be, that's the software that's already on the machine, and it's the disk that came with the machine?
So, I renamed the system folder "Old System Folder" and rebooted. It still found the harddrive system. Rebooted with the "old" folder, boot disk in the drive, and held down the "c" key. it STILL booted from the drive. Then I created a new folder, left it as "unnamed folder" and put the system into it, inside the "old system folder" and rebooted. It STILL found it and booted from the machine.
I have already trashed everything that was on the machine and was planning on erasing the drive and starting totally fresh anyways, I just need the thing to boot up from anything but the internal drive to do it. So, I put the system back in the "old system folder" renamed the folder "System Folder" and tossed the whole thing in the trash. Upon commencing the trashing excercise one by one each item would either be trashed or I'd get a message saying the item couldn't be trashed because it was in use. I would hit continue and ended up with a dramatically reduced system folder. I figured surely now the thing would boot from the 9.1 boot disk. NO! it still booted from the hard drive. Mind you, it was now acting quite strange.
I then dragged the system folder from the boot disk onto the hardrive and copied it over. I then retrashed the original system folder and somehow managed to get everything trashed including the System that was currently in use. I did get a warning stating that the machine no longer had a viable system and that I might have difficulting getting the machine started again. But I figured it's got the system folder I dragged over from the boot disk, not officially installed but it's all there. Plus, I've got the boot disk in the slot drive. It has always been my experience that if a mac can't boot from the hard drive it will immediately search all other drives looking for a bootable system. I figured I had it covered.
All I'm trying to do is get the machine to boot from the cd so I can use disk utility or disk first aid to erase the drive completely. Then I'll reinstall from the boot disk.
Unfortunately, upon restart the thing completely lost it's marbles. It can't find the Super System it always found before, it doesn't see or can't use the "uninstalled" system on the hardrive, and it can't find the boot disk that is sitting in it's own mouth.
It's sitting here asking me to provide it with a brain. There is a small folder icon which alternates flashing between the mac OS double face icon and a bold question mark.
The patient is critical, vitals are weak, shallow, and falling. My bag of tricks is empty. Anyone got a defibrilator? Care to try mouth to mouth?

iMac G3 600MHz Mac OS 9.1.x Graphite

Well, I did a google for Mac Serial Numbers and found what ends up being Apple's official Serial Number checker. http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html
It told me all of this:
Name: iMac G3 SE (Early 2001)
Model: Mxxxx iMac G3 600MHz graphite
Bus speed: 100MHz
Screen size: 15 inch
Factory: RN (Mexico)
Anyone know what the SE stands for? I remember the old Mac+ had an SE model. I used to know what SE stood for on that machine but I can't remember now and don't know if it's the same thing now or not.
There is also a link provided on the above page that takes you to what seems to be Apple's history page http://www.apple-history.com/ which gave me all the info below based on my serial number. I know from above it shipped around March 2001. It says below that the "Minimum OS: 9.1, Maximum OS: 10.4.7". So, doesn't that mean that it shipped with 9.1 and that it should accept that disk? It was running 9.1x when I received it. So, while your links have provided me with absolute and total info about my machine, it still seems I've done everything right and I have the proper startup disk. Still, I might spend the $40 for 9.2, or I might spend $50 and take it to Micro Center, the only true "Mac Store within a Store".

Announced in February 2001, the iMac SE brought a number of small improvements over the previous high-end iMac, in addition to a dramatic change in the iMac "colors". Apple chose to get rid of Sage and Ruby in favor of "Blue Dalmatian" and "Flower Power", two new patterns that were molded into the case using a technique which took Apple 18 months to perfect.
The iMac SE featured a CD-RW drive, a new and improved PPC 750cx processor, which had an on-chip 1:1 L2 Cache, and a speedy new graphics chip. It featured a 600 MHz processor, 128 MB of RAM, a 40 GB hard drive and a 56 kbps modem, was available in Graphite, Blue Dalmatian or Flower Power, and was priced at $1499.
