'Add to iPhoto' changed in Yosemite, breaks functionality

In Mavericks, it was possible to quickly cull from dozens of images by highlighting them all, hitting spacebar for Quick Look, going full-screen while using arrow keys to advance through them, and clicking "Add to iPhoto" to select a handful out of many. That was a lot easier than, say, viewing images in Finder and dragging the ones you want one-by-one to a separate folder.
In Yosemite, though, the "Add to iPhoto" button has been replaced by a share button, like below:
You still get the "Add to iPhoto" option after clicking the share button, but after you do that, desktop focus shifts to iPhoto. Then you have to switch back to your images in Finder again and click into full screen again because you're bumped out of full screen when iPhoto comes to the fore. In Mavericks, you could continue with the images and selecting them, and then at the end when you clicked to exit full screen, they'd all be imported into iPhoto at once, in a batch. Yosemite adds them to iPhoto one by one; which means you've got a lot of wasted clicks and keyboarding, because you have to manually go back into your full screen mode after each image you select.
Anyone know of a way to make Quick Look behave the way it used to in Mavericks? (I doubt it) Or, anyone know of a different full screen viewer app that has the same "Add to iPhoto" functionality that Mavericks used to have with Quick Look? Also, doesn't have to be "Add to iPhoto", necessarily, just some one-click way to tag/move a selection of images out of many, that saves you time by keeping you in full screen, doing any moving/importing at the end.

Using command-period is the kind of thing I was looking for, much better. I think that is about as good as how I did it in Mavericks.
To see that toolbar, select a group of images in Yosemite Finder, spacebar for Quick Look, then click this to go fullscreen
and then if you move your mouse around a little, the toolbar appears near the bottom of the screen, overlaid on the image.

Anyone have a problem using iPhoto "change date of photo" function?

I imported some old photos today and need to sent the time on them. I selected the photos and used the "Change date of photo" function. It worked fine on the first set. I tried adjust a second set and that's where problem began. I needed to change the date from 01-01-2002 to the correct date of 05-28-2004. I photo instead set the date to somewhere in 1989. I thought I must have typed the date wrong. So I selected the photos and tried again. Nope, it wasn't me. The date on the photos was set back to some time in 1983. I tried several more time... Well, lets just say I have photos dated in the 1700's..

I had searched the forum and could not find anything. Maybe someone knows where is is.
I fixed the photos the "brute force" way.
I deleted them from the library.
Changed the date on the files on a different computer and imported them again.
However this seam like a crap way to fix a iPhoto issue.
I hope that I don't need to fix the time on any more photos..

Can't Add to iPhoto from Mail - function in Mail.app broken?

I did try several Emails with different .jpg images attached, the option "Add to iPhoto" is visible in the pulldown menue (click "Safe" next to Quick Look), one can select it, but nothing happens.
No difference if iPhoto is open or not. I did do a permissions repair on the iPhoto library (9.4.1), but no change.
My system is at 10.8.2 with the recent supplement.
I checked the Console for error log entries, but could not locate something fitting.
Any suggestion how to fix? Or is it a bug?

You can work around BR saving to the desktop and importing or opening in quick view, expanding to full screen and saving to iPhoto

Will Apple add the "Batch Change" option from iPhotos into Photos? It appears to be a major complaint across the board and a severe limitation. I see complaints about this all through the forum. Apple?

HT1176 I am trying to add my iPhoto library to files to be backed up on time machine. I am told to click on the Options Minus butto, but it is greyed out. What is the solution ?

You can "see" the iPhoto library in Time Machine backups, but you cannot "open" the library or "browse" the contents while you are in Time Machine.
Apple makes you restore the entire iPhoto library to another destination...like your desktop....if you want to retrieve a few older images that you may have deleted by mistake.
This is a convoluted mess, but unfortunately, that is the way it is.

Add to iPhoto removes file name

Apple Mail - It's great that we now have the return of the "Add to iPhoto" link for image attachments However, when using this function Mail renames the file as IMAGE, IMAGE-1, IMAGE-2 etc etc in the metadata. This creates an issue where iPhoto is then unable to detect if any of the imports are already in the library, ie duplicates.
A work around is to "Save" the images to a folder then using iPhoto "Add to Library" but this should not be necessary of course.
I found this issue on both Macs in my home so presume it could be a wide spread issue? Anyone have any experience of it.

Did anyone find a good way to sort the shared albums better, so that the ones you share with can better find their way around.
You can arrange them manually in an album, select all and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date to menu option and check the box to add a set interval between photos. That will let the photos be sorted by date and be in the order you want:

Dear experts,
My requirement is as follows:
Scenario: Idoc to Idoc. I need to check if there are line items > 5- I need to do a split. The split is happening properly via my mapping but I have a problem at the header record level on the target- I do not get the values populated correctly. I need to add a context change after 5 values in the queue.
eg:
Say there are 2 Idocs at the source with following unique IDs: called Journal ID:
My source:

The split in the target Idoc is working perfectly. But inside the header record the journal ID field(taken from Item record level) is not populating correctly. I am getting this output:

Apparently this doesnt work.

The first Idoc has two line items and the second idoc has 7 line items. As the split is per 5 line item- the target has 3 Idocs.
Now the problem is that the header value in the target: REF_DOC_NO has to be created as per the number of line items and doesnt come from header record directly.

Using Preview's Slideshow, Add to iPhoto does nothing

Preview has a SlideShow feature under the View menu. Using it to page through a PDF file I've printed from Excel, I've noticed the tools that appear at the bottom of the screen include an "Add to iPhoto" icon. When I click it, it highlights briefly, but nothing else seems to happen, and nothing gets added to iPhoto. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm trying to get images to post to a wiki, and this seemed like a particularly efficient way to do it...if it would only work.

Got the same problem on the iMac. Seemed to work OK today in my girlfriend's account on the MBP. If I use Quicklook to try to add the photos to iPhoto on either computer, it thinks it's done it (icon changes to one with a check mark) but doesn't. If it does I can't find the pictures in iPhoto.
Here's hoping that 10.5.2. will fix this one.

IPhoto changes slideshow when exported

I am having significant problems with iPhoto changing the slideshow when I export it to iDVD or even Quicktime. This is so frustrating! All I can attribute this to, is one of the updates. I have used this to do DVD's for weddings, graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. with no problem, then somewhere along the line, it began changing the timing. All my hard work to synchronize the exact picture with the music - GONE!
Please help, as I have lots of these to do on a tight turnaround time. I adore my Mac & really need for this to work like it used to!

The audio syncing has been a problem with iPhoto 6 for a while now. There is a couple of ways you can do what you want;
1 - create the slideshow in iPhoto without music and share to iDVD.
2 - when the import into iDVD is complete, close iDVD without saving and look for your movie in the Movies folder. This produces the larger size movie than just exporting to Quicktime does.
3 - open the movie in iMovie and add your tracks. You have considerably more control in fade ins and outs, cutting out the dead time at the end of a track, etc.
4 - save the iMovie project.
5 - open iDVD, select your theme.
6 - drag the iMovie project file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones. This avoids additional encoding by iMovie so the only encoding done is by iDVD when you go to save as a disk image or burn directly to disk.
Are you using the KB effect in your slideshow? If not, you can get, IMO, better image quality slideshows by creating the show entirely in iDVD from the imported stills. By selecting the option to scale photos to the TV Safe Area you won't lose any of the picture to the TV overscan phenomenon that affects all QT files used in iDVD. This method also allows you to add titles/sub titles to selected slides or add a text slide as a title. The scale to audio in iDVD is very precise.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Price Break Functionality

Hi,
I am trying to implement Price Break Functionality and as per Metalink Note 204168.1 -- Flow for Price Break Note, I have setup the scenario in the system. But when I am trying to test the scenario, it is behaving strange.
When I enter the Item Information and Quantity and press down arrow to enter new item, it is changing the price. But when I save the order, it is again changing the price back to original price. (For e.g. If the original price is $100, then when I enter the item info and quantity and press down arrow, it reduces the price as per price break. But when I save it, it again changes the price to $100)
In the view adjustment window, correct price break information is available.
To get back the discounted price, I need to either update the quantity of the line or call Price Line action to get the discounted price. After this, the price is not getting back to original price.
Please help me as I need to show case this functionality to client Monday.

There is a field on order line level 'Calculate Price Flag'. When you keep this flag to 'Freeze Price', the price of lines will not be recalculated automatically. Hopefully this should take care of your requirement.

Safari 8 - Iphoto interface add to iphoto' not avail.

Just upgraded to Yosemite OX, running safari 8 and iphoto 9.6
There is no "add to iphoto" in the rightclick dropdown when trying to save an image on the web.
Have looked around trying to find a preference setting or something in both Sfarui and iPhoto. I'm stumped can someone please tell me how to get the iphoto option happeneing in the drop down please?

Are you right clicking on a JPEG image? I have add image to iPhoto in mine -
this is not an iphoto question but a Safari question - for help post in the OS forum for Yosimite
as a workaround download the image and then import to iPhoto

LIKE Sy-subrc = 0 when select statement fetches record or sy-tabix is like counter for loop.

There is no system Fields for it.
But your requirement can be done with 'AT NEW' and 'AT END' statement.
Refer this sample example,

Add To iPhoto in Mail fails for iPhone photos sent in multiple emails

Someone takes six photos with an iPhone and emails them to you.
You get 6 emails. Each one has a photo.jpg image attached.
You click the SAVE pop-down menu in the Mail message and choose Save To iPhoto. The photo is imported into iPhoto. You delete that email and do the same thing with the second email with the second photo...
BUT, somewhere the Mail-iPhoto smartness turns dumb, as the rest of the photos will not show up in iPhoto. (This may have something to do with the fact that the iPhone sends each photo with the attachment name of photo.jpg and somehow Mail or iPhoto think that photo has already been added to iPhoto).
I was having this problem with photos emailed to me by iPhone users and tested it myself.
Sure enough, after the first photo.jpg attachment is imported all subsequent Add To iPhoto operations of iPhone sent images fail... even if the photos have been sent from separate iPhones from separate email addresses.
All the attachments are kept by Mail in uniquely numbered folders in the attachments folder of my receiving email account in Library/Mail but since each attachments is named photo.jpg that seems to throw off iPhoto OR Mail (because even the quick progress update of "Adding photo to iPhoto" does not show up on these attempts).
I checked if quitting and restarting Mail fixed allowed the second photo to be added to iPhoto but it did not. Quitting iPhoto after EACH import/Add To iPhoto operation allowed each photo to be added into iPhoto.
This may have to do with the iPhoto bugs handling large libraries (I have 19000 images in it) like the spinning wheel of Names window after imports, etc.
Just sharing if others have the same experience sending 3 iPhone photos by email to themselves and seeing if all can be added to iPhoto from Mail. Thanks.
