Add to Library not working in iTunes 12?
When I add songs to my iTunes library via "Add to Library", they do not appear in my library. I have quit iTunes, logged out, and still nothing appears!

I've tried this and it has now readded all the old mp3 & M4a files but is not adding the new AIFF files any more.
I then tried using apple encoder to covert the files and import as M4a but that doesn't work either.
It's like it doesn't like any of my new folders.
I've tried applying the 'share'/'permissions' to all subfolders of my music folder where the music is stored but this didn't work either.
Any other suggestions v welcome as I'm running out of ideas

I was trying to add some MP3's to my iTunes collection tonight and am seeing that iTunes 10 add to library function is not working at all.
Really irritating.Same issue here and thanks for posting that the location of the iTunes content went back to the default after upgrading to 10....I'm sure I would have been scratching my head over that one for awhile. I've got all my content on Netgear Stora MS2110 home server and after adding a few new MP3s using my Macbook I decided to update my iTunes library on my PC, but using the "File/Add File to Libary" didn't work. Once I updated the path to my content I was able to add at least one of the MP3s on my server to my PC iTunes library using the File drop down menu or drag and drop, but not all of them - strange. Definitely a bug that needs fixing.

Itunes 11 "add to library" not working (drag and drop too)
I just updated to itunes 11 and the add to library function is not working both manually and drag and drop. I used to be able to add a video to the itunes media file, click add to library, click the file and it would pull it in to itunes. None of this works including the drag and drop feature. The preferences folder is set correctly.....please help.
brockIt appears movies added to iTunes manually (not purchased through iTunes), are automatically put in the "Home Movie" media kind/category. I don't remember this kind in previous iTunes, but maybe it's just not one I used. I've seen where this is due to using MetaX, but I don't think so as "Home Movie" is not an option in MetaX. I cannot find any option in iTunes preferences to change this. Maybe Apple will change this in an update - I hope so. For now, I just go in and manually change this in the movie Info setting. I keep all of my movies in digital format, so this is a bit of a pain.

Add to library not working iTunes for mac 11.1.5
I am not sure whether I've had a need to add music to my iTunes library since the Mavericks upgrade but I've discovered that I cannot add to Library by any of the usual methods (add to library, drag dropping etc). I've tried folders, individual files and different music formats but with no success.
Nothing happens atall - it's like I didn't even select the command.

Drag & Drop artwork & Add to Library not working
Hi all,
This is only a recent problem, using the latest version of iTunes on my Dell XP PC and I'm upable to drag and drop from Windows Explorer into iTunes. I can add music and artwork into iTunes using the 'Add to Library' option but when I try to drag & drop into iTunes, I get a black circle with a diagonal line through it.

Automatically Add to iTunes folder is not working in iTunes 10.1

I have a problem since the iTunes Update 10.0->10.1.
The "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder is not working in iTunes 10.1.
Whenever I put mp3-files in that folder, iTunes only adds these files when I start iTunes. I put some new files in this folder and nothing happens. Only when I restart iTunes the mp3s are added to my library.

ThomasIt always worked that way. iTunes only acts on that folder if iTunes is running. It does not have to be playing, but it does need to be open.
If you add files to the Automatically Add folder while iTunes is closed, they will sit there until iTunes is restarted. -

Why is my Apple ID not working in iTunes or App Store on my iPhone? When I try to buy apps or music it asks for Apple ID so I enter my info and nothing happens. When I go to settings/iTunes App Store my Apple ID is not there. When I enter my ID and password it does not save or link to account. I do not have this problem with iPad ID is stored and can be used in App Store and iTunes. I have just upgraded to 5c and it's still a problem.

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio. People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.
Solve this problem of yours ASAP for us, your numerous disgruntled, dissatisfied customers of iTunes. You can do better, should, and really –in all fairness- must.

Apple ACCOUNT ID, and iTunes ID password, works but not to access iTunes with my healthy internet connection.
Apple store id It works via direct internet connetion but not through iTunes. Very strange.

If you are updating from iOS 7+ to 7.0.4 then did you have Find My iPod enabled on it ? If you did then it might be asking for the password for your account when you set that 'on'.
