  • Add title full movie length

I'm trying to add a title (URL Actually), through the entire length of a movie being created in iMovie HD 6.
I'm not having any luck in iMovie and was thinking I could do it in QT Pro.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks,
    Luke

    I don't understand your question.
You don't have to select all of your video if you wish. You can add the copied text to just any "selection". If your video starts and ends with a few seconds of black frames and you want the text over just the video you need to adjust the size of your selection.
Select all and then click the leftmost insertion point (in point). Hold down the Shift key as you tap the right arrow key. This will move the in point one frame at a time. Stop when your video appears.
Same for the rightmost insertion point (out point). Shift and left arrow key to move it backward until your video appears.
Now do the "Add to Selection & Scale" (Edit menu) and Save As.

  • Help Please......when I add or preview a Transition I Movie 06 just crashes

When I add or preview a transition-I Movie 06 just crashes and I get an error message Send report to apple.I checked all system requirements for installing I movie 06.I have everything in order for I movie 06.
    Please help......

Try closing iMovie and trashing the file com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User/Library/Preferences. iMovie will creat a new .plist file on relaunch.
    Update Quicktime to current version.
Then do a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility app on your Mac.
Make sure that you have sufficent free disk space for iMovie to operate. 15 to 25GB is a good range.
If you have any 3rd party plug-ins, try removing them to a different folder.

  • PROBLEM SOLVED "export clips from Color back into FCP & add transition"

If I have two clips that you cannot place a transition in between here is the only thing that worked for me.
I discovered this problem after I exported my movie clips from FCP 6 to Color and imported the color corrected files from Color back into FCP 6. I could no longer add transitions to any of my clips unless I made the following changes.
    1. 1st check to see if the video clip has an audio track underneath it. If they are not linked Select the audio and the video track to be linked, hit Command "L" and you will see an underline under the audio and video name to show that they are now linked. Do the same for the adjoining video and audio track.
    2. Next select all of the clips after the video clip you just selected by typing "tttt" this changes to the "Select All Tracks Forward Tool". Click on the track after the video track you just linked and it will select all of the tracks thereafter. Hit the "A" button to change back to the selection tool and move all of the selected tracks away from the previous video/audio track.
    3. Next type "RR" this will change to the "Ripple" tool. Now click on end of the video track on the previous video clip and type -15 (for negative 15 frames). Then click on the beginning of other video clip to the right that you linked and type +15 (for plus 15 frames).
    4. Type "tttt" to change back to the "Select All Tracks Forward Tool" the hit the "A" button to change back to the selection tool and drag all tracks back together again.
    5. You may then drag and drop your transition in between both video clips.
I hope this helps someone...this is the only thing that worked for me!!!

I am working with mostly DVCPro ftg, with a few clips in MiniDV.  I did have roughly 10 clips with speed changes, but they exported fine two weeks ago, when I did this the first time.  (Actually, it didn't keep the speed changes, but it did export with media to FCP).
The clips do have reel numbers and seem to be of the right length per clip but there's just no picture and no assoicated media with which to relink the clip.
    I'm on Color 1.5.3
Any possible ideas?  Thank you for your help...

  • Daily Help A Newbie Thread: Full MiniDV tape to FCP & add Transitions

    Hello,
Yes, it's another one of those questions, but honestly, I've RTFM, and searched the discussions here. Nothing works as it's supposed to. (Must be me, right?) Well, I'm turning to the pros.
Goal: Take a full hour's worth of my newborn girl that's on MiniDV from a Canon ZR85 and get it into FCP, add some transitions, and then export to send to the Grandma's.
Problem: I can't seem to add transitions at all. The cursor changes to an arrow with a little 'x' in the lower right corner.
    Problem Notes:
--Ok, so I can sorta add transitions, but not with two clips or subclips snapped to each other in the same video layer. It will allow say, a default cross fade to the end of one clip, while clip 2 is in another layer (V2). So the visual response is the same, but it should work with clips in the same layer.
--I can put playhead snapped to the joint between two unedited clips, and right click to add 'transition cross dissolve', but the transition ends up only being 1 frame in duration. And double-clicking on it to bring it into the viewer doesn't allow me to edit the duration.
--I can however, drop in a Bars and Tone generated object, and say a caustics object. Then I can add and edit the transition to my heart's content.
    Method:
    1. tape in, cam to play, cables set up
    2. FCP set to Format: all formats / rate: all rates / Use: DV-NTSC
    3. open capture dialog and (for simplicity's sake) use Capture Now
    4. a 13+ GB .mov file is made on the scratch disk, an external FW drive with plenty of space
    5. I then use the Mark > Detect DV start/stop to get the markers in clip
    6. select all the markers, and use Make Subclip
    7. All subclips show up as "segment of videoclip I just imported n" with the little clip icon with jagged edges.
    8. Add a couple (of 41) subclips to the timeline. So far so good. They play and sound as expected.
    9. But then I go for a simple transition, cross dissolve and try to drag it into the time line. All I get is the the arrow with the little x.
    If I...
    z. right click to add transition, it says "insufficient content for edit"
    y. .....
****, I think I just answered my own question. Yeah...huh...RTFM...Ok, here goes, see if this is what you would tell me...
    1. drop in say two subclips.
    2. (they are now end to start, if you will
    3. i have to drag the second clip (the one on the right) to the LEFT such that there is enough "overlap" so the transition covers enough on both clips for the desired duration....
That is clip 1 is 30 seconds. Clip 2 is 60 seconds. End to End won't work. But if I move clip 2 (with the select tool) back say 5 seconds. Then I can add a 10 second transition. (overkill yes, but it's an example.)
Sorry for rambling. Thanks for helping or offering um, constructive advice.
    Thanks,
    .curt
    a) Even when I Log and Capture, it always gives me the pre-post roll error message. I have turned that preference to zero, but have the same results. But OK, I can deal with that, so I did the Capture Now and manually started the vidcam.
    b)

    You need "handles" for transitions.
The length of the transition determines the length of the handle
The default is one second so you need 15 extra frames on clip "A" and 15 extra frames on clip "B"
So you need to do what you've already learned and trim back your clips to make room for your transisitons.
This is the quick expanation, check the manual or do a search on this forum for "handles" and you can get a more in-depth version.

  • Can't add transition to Quicktime import

I made a Quicktime movie in IMovie using a series of photos and then imported it to FCE. It's now sitting in the Timeline but I cannot add transitions to either end of it. Any thoughts?

If you come from iMovie, you're used to iMovie making transitions by shortening the adjacent shots, taking a bit off each of them to create an overlap for the transition to occur. This incidentally shortens your sequence and possibly pulls things out of alignment with your audio, but that's a problem for iMovie users to deal with.
In FCE and FCP and all other professional editing applications, the overlap is not taken from inside the shot; it's taken from extra material, called handles in FCE, that lie beyond the end of the shot. So if you put a shot in a sequence that uses all the available media for that shot, that is you marked the out point on the very last frame, there are then no handles for the application to extend the shot and create the necessary overlap to make the transition, and the transition will fail.
For the default one second transition you need at least 15 more frames after the marked out point of the outgoing, and 15 more frames in front of, before the marked in point on the incoming shot. That will give you enough material for the default centered on edit, one second cross dissolve or whatever transition you're adding.
    All the best,
    Tom

  • Cannot add transitions to video

    Hi There,
I am trying to add transitions to a video but none are showing up in the library on the side bar.
I tried to disable automatic transitions but I cannot click on window> movie properties
There are no transitions in the video right now.
Anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi:
As others said, you can create a short video to use as transition after your menus. You can take a frame of your menu animation as starting point and edit some animation in FCP, i.e. making your buttons (I mean the graphic/text you use as buttons) go out of the screen or something like that. I think the best inspiration is the way that menus "go away" in a lot of commercial movies DVDs.
You can add an audio track with some effects in FCP with some synchro with the movie.
Remember that if your menu background is animated, you cannot control in what point of the loop the viewer will press a button, but that happens when you use the standards trasition too.

  • Why can't I add transitions to iMovie 11?

Hi. I am using iMovie 11 to edit a video. I want to add transitions, but every time I go to content library, "transitions" is greyed out. All the items in the content library are greyed out, actually. My movie doesn't have a theme, so nothing automatic is activated. It doesn't matter if a clip or section is selected or not - I cannot add transitions. Does anyone know any possible reasons for this and how to remedy it? Thanks!!

    Hello, AmezLady.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are unable manually add transitions.  This sounds like you may have automatic transitions enabled.  Try disabling this to see if you can manually add them.

  • Can't add Transitions b/w LiveType clips in FCE

I'm making small promo movie in FCE, with a lot of LiveType clips interspersed with some movie clips (Apple Interm. Codec--but I've also tried using DV-NTSC). My problem: when I've strung together several LT clips (.ipr--but also .mov after rendering) I can't add transitions b/w them in FCE (and can't add trans. b/w a LT and movie clip). I get msg: "insufficient content for edit."
I don't understand well the whole codec process. I've read here that the properties need to be the same b/w LT and FCE, but I'm not sure exactly how to do that. The property options in both programs have slightly different presets and I've tried to match the codec & aspect ratios etc. as best I can. Since I don't know what I'm doing in this area, I've tried to match things up as best as possible, yet no luck.
BUT, even when I've opened a brand new project in FCE, brought in several .ipr clips (w/out bringing in any movie clips), I still can't add transitions b/w .ipr clips (or LT .mov files).
Help! What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

OKay, but how do i do it..
I have 2 movies...I want a transition of 2 seconds..do i Mark in from the point of the first movie where i want to have the transition to start ? And out in the 2nd movie where i want it to finished (maximum) ?
Or do i mark out on the first movie and mark in on the 2nd movie ?
The whole day i am trying things but nothing works for me.
I even did see a video tut that says it's because the videos are not NTSC...But they are HD so that wouldn make a problem ? Or does it ?
Sorry for these simple questions but there is no tut in my language and i can't find a forum that explains it in dutch..
    Thanks in advance

  • I have an iPad 3 with 64 GB of storage.  I am out of room, but when I add up my movies music and apps, my usage isn't even close to 64GB.

I have an iPad 3 with 64 GB of storage.  I am out of space, but when I add up my movies music and apps, my usage isn't even close to 64GB. I used to have about a dozen movies.  One day they were just gone and couldn't sync back on. I used to think it was a syncing problem, but it is storage.   I have done a hard restart.  I have deleted some junk from "memory".  I have tried to "clean up" my iPad, but I am missing a ton of space.  Is there a trash can that I need to empty?  Are my movies still stored but inaccessible?  I have read forum posts about an "other" category in stoarge which I don't see on my iPad.  Not sure what else to try.

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
An "other" larger than aboutn 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.  Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • Error message when trying to add transitions

can't add transitions in imovie 6, but I could 2 days ago. It was also failing to render titles.I tried these suggestions from this great forum: trashed iMovie prefs, repaired permissions, checked for 3rd party plug-ins, ran repair hard disk, ran MacJanitor, reinstalled imovie 6,freed up 28 GB on hd, but still couldn't render titles. After I ran diskWarrior, I was able to render titles again but still can't add transitions. Is the number of photos or titles an issue? I have 450 and still need to add video clips & music. I have to have this idvd project for our church done in 3 days and things keep screwing up!

What is your operating system?  Reader version?

  • Is there a way to add transitions to several still pictures without doing them one at a time

Is there a way to add transitions to several still pictures without doing them one at a time

You don't say which version of the program you're using but, in version 10, if you select several media clips on the timeline at once, you can right-click and select the option to Add Default Transition between them all. (You can also designate any transition as the Default Transition.)
You can also use the Slideshow Creator in the Media panel to apply the Default Transition between any stills you've gathered to create a slideshow from.
And, if you create your slideshow in the Elements Organizer (prior to sending it to Premiere Elements), you can select the option to add random transitions between your slides.
You can learn how to do all of these thing step by step in my books, by the way, if you're interested.

  • How do I add transitions automatic in iMovie 10.0.3

    Hi,
I updated imovie a couple of days ago and I can't find the feature in iMovie that adds transitions automatic. All guides on internet says that you have to press "file- project theme" and change it from there. When I click the file button in top of the screen the option "project theme" is not there. There has to be a way to add transitions automatic. Right now I'm working on a slideshow with hundereds of pictures and adding transistions manually is not an option

  • I am unable to add transitions to any clip unless it is on the main timeline.  So if I want to add an image that crossfades on a different timeline, I am completely unable to do so.  Any suggestions?

I have seen Youtube videos where they just drop it on the second or third timeline and it works like a charm, if I do it, it is only applying it to the main timeline.  Any help would really be appreciated, I have spent close to 4 hours trying to find the solution to this with 0 success.

Transitions cannot be added to connected clips.  You have to convert the connected clips to 1 or more secondary storyline(s).  Just highlight the connected clips separately (or as a series); then go to Clip in the FCP Menu and click on Storyline.  The converted clips can be highlighted; then add transitions.  Hope this helps.
Not exactly true: the transition implies that the clips be in a storyline, but you don't need to create the storyline yourself.
If two connected clips are adjacent, you can add a transition. FCP X will *automatically* create a secondary storyline for you.
I am guessing that the problem the original poster may be because there is some interval between the two clips.
If that is not the problem: then the first thing to try is deleting preferences.
