Add User Group in App Server 8.0

Hi,
I can not add a user group in App Server 8.0. Previously, one can do the job with realmtool. Now, the realmtool is gone. asadmin tool does not have the command to add a user group to the server. Would someone please let me know if we still can add a user group in App Server 8.0. thx.

No apologies needed. When you add the user, you specify the group, it does not have to exist previously.

  • Add User/Group API's restricted functionality.

I'm trying to add user/group attributes that are present within the iPortal GUI but appear absent within the API (WWSEC_API). Namely 'Default Homepage'. Could someone please advise if this element can be assigned values through an API (perhaps other than the one I am using).
    Cheers.

It doesn't appear so. I have managed to assign a default homepage via setting up a default homepage for a group and then assigning the person to the group. Unfortunately, it works off and on.

    Hello,
You have to create a new alert for that user C or delete existing one and create new one for all. Ultimately all single alert will be part of collection so there is no harm to create multiple alerts.

  • Where to find the user groups in SQL Server

    Hello All,
where to find the user groups created in Shared Services in SQL Server tables?

Yes thats correct its stored in Openldap
Native Directory (OpenLDAP), an open source Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)-enabled user directory, is bundled and configured with Shared Services.
    Native Directory functions:
**Used to maintain and manage the default Shared Services user accounts required by Hyperion products*
**Is the central storage for all Hyperion provisioning information because it stores the relationships between users, groups, and roles.*

  • Moving Users across different App Server versions

    Hi everyone,
I need to move users and groups from a 9iAS portal to a 10gAS system which uses 10.1.2.0.2 for OID.
I was wondering if we can move users, groups into the new OID alongwith their passwords. I tried to search on forums but could not get a clear help. Has anyone done the same thing before, and would like to drop a hint or two on how to do it please?
    will highly appreciate.
    thanks.

Thank you very much Grant for your help. I appreciate it.
    1. first method requires us to upgrade systems to 10g and then to 10.1.2.0.2. I am familiar with the first choice but have hesitation to take it.
This is a painful upgrade and we just finished upgrading, adjusting and fixing applications in our portal upgrade paths from 309 to 904, 10.1.2.0.2 and then to 10.1.4.0.0. Here for OID upgrade, we won't need the third stage but even the two takes a few days. Even backup costs 5 hours for our repository. so by the time we finish this, the list of users become old/obsolete. we need to move users for the launch phase of the upgraded portal.
    2. the second method and track apparently should be fine to extract users and info. however, i haven't seen any method or procedure in the Metalink literature to keep their passwords intact. in fact, on the contrary, they suggest that the password attributes cannot be moved using ldapadd and bulkload in 10.1.2. (ref It is not possible to load orclpassword or authpassword attributes using either ldapadd or bulkload. Reference Note 401662.1 ). That leaves the choice of resetting passwords to some default pwd as one article suggests.
But our client is reluctant to email or communicate passwords to users by any method. This is the cause of this hesitation.
OID is still quite new to me and I am wondering if any other method (other than the ladapadd and bulkload) can be used to migrate users/groups without sacrificing the passwords.
    thank you very much.
    with kind regards,
    AMN

  • How to add user to a terminal server list ?

Hi , is there a way out to login users to terminal server remotely without GUI(rdp) from some commandline?
    background:
i am trying to remote login user after machine restart in order to start a automation test run, so in order for the automation testrun to work properly i need to open a user session on the remote machine. after restart only two entries are found (when qwinsta
    is queried)
SESSIONNAME USERNAME    ID STATE TYPE DEVICE
    console             administrator 0  active wdcon
    rdp-tcp                                 65536 listen rdpwd
so i can't use tscon to connect to a user session as not user session exists in the first place?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
As per your comment, you can login users remotely to terminal server with “mstsc” command line as per below command.
    mstsc [<connection file>] [/v:<server[:port]>] [/admin] [/f[ullscreen]] [/w:<width>] [/h:<height>] [/public] | [/span] [/edit "connection file"] [/migrate] [/?]
For more information, refer beneath article.
Use command line parameters with Remote Desktop Connection

    Hope it helps!

  • Server name change leads to Server.app not being able to add users/groups

I changed the name of my server from vanroodewierda.rna.nl to rna.nl. I recreated my DNS setup (only used on the LAN) and everything works. I do have one problem, though: in Server.app, it is impossible to add/delete users and groups. (Yes, I can use Workgroup Manager, but this situation makes the system less robust, certainly, so it should not persist)
changeip -checkhostname says all is well:
    $ sudo changeip -checkhostname
    Password:
    Primary address     = 192.168.2.66
    Current HostName    = rna.nl
    DNS HostName        = rna.nl
The names match. There is nothing to change.

There is one stupid thing I might have done myself that caused this. In WGM in my Machines directory there was a machine called vanroodewierda.rna.nl$, I removed that and replaced it with the same MAC address and the name rna.nl$. Might the following have to do with that?

What must I do to correct this? It feels like something should change in the Keychain and/or in Kerberos, but what and how?
    Thanks,

    @John & MrHoffMan,
    thanks for replying.
    - I know about the split-horizon DNS, it is by design so that, say, mail.rna.nl on the LAN resolves to the same machine as on the WAN and people can take their laptops anywhere and mail 'just works'.
I tried this in Server.app (last night also). I now changed from rna.nl to rna.nl to vanroodewierda.rna.nl and back to rna.nl. (I did this because a change to the same might be ignored by some services and I wanted to force them). In the system log I notice (esp. the first 4 lines):

Problem remains, but I wonder: can I remove the identities in Keychain that may be messing things up? And if so, which ones? Some are even duplicated in System and login key chain.
(never mind the weird whitelist domains Server creates, I'm managing that by hand anyway)

  • Will deleting user & group accounts make server inoperable or damaged? See ScreenShots

Should I delete the unknow users and groups below?  I have no idea what there purpose or intent is.

Those entries are related to various operations operations of your system and your server.  If you scroll down through that user list, you'll find the web server user; the environment that runs the Apache web server, for instance.
Bad Things will happen if you start deleting those users and those groups.  OS X intentionally hides a number of users (technically those with user IDs below 500) just because folks were modifying or deleting them and getting into trouble.  Some deletions might not be noticed, or might not be a problem until you need the associated component, and deleting certain other users could cause immediate problems.
If you wish to learn more about the Unix underpinnings of OS X (and OS X Server) and about the environment that these users operate in, then that will probably best be via the command line and Terminal.app and more direct exploration of the Unix command line and operating system.
Otherwise, you will probably want to disable viewing the system accounts, and leave those existing entries unmodified.
In general, I'd avoid deleting and modifying bits, at least to start with.  If (when?) you do decide to start making to hidden users and Unix-layer settings, either use a test system, or have a backup should the modifications not work out, or both.  Have a path to recover your data.

  • Manually augmenting users/groups for wiki server.

can someone tell me what a group looks like after its been augmented for use by wiki server? i need to manually change this because i need leopard installed in advanced mode and i also need to use my tiger OD server as my OD server NOT leopard. what i am trying to do is unsupported, i know, but i don't care if i have to write lines of code for every user, i just need to get it done.
is anyone else out there dealing with this?

    Hi
You could have tried this yourself however what follows takes all of 10-15 seconds and should give you pretty much anything you want:
    dscl
    list
    cd LDAPv3
    list
cd IPaddress or FQDN of your LDAP Server
You should now see something like this:
    AccessControls
    AutoServerSetup
    CertificateAuthorities
    ComputerLists
    Computers
    Config
    FileMakerServers
    Groups
    Locations
    Machines
    Mounts
    Neighborhoods
    People
    PresetComputerLists
    PresetGroups
    PresetUsers
    Printers
    Users
    cd Users
    list
You should now see something like this:
    diradmin
    root
    user1
    user10
    user2
    user3
    user4
    user5
    user6
    user7
    user8
    user9
    vpn_73565997fb81
Follow this with read followed by the the name of the user you are interested in. eg:
    read user1
You should now see a whole raft of information some of which will look like this:
    NFSHomeDirectory: /Network/Servers/serverfqdn/Volumes/HardDrive/Users/user1
    Password: ******
    PhoneNumber: 12345 678901
    Picture: /Library/User Pictures/Nature/Cactus.tif
    PostalCode: NG16 2DQ
    PrimaryGroupID: 20
    RealName: User1
    RecordName: user1 User1
    RecordType: dsRecTypeStandard:Users
    State: addressinfo
    Street: addressinfo
    UniqueID: 1025
    UserShell: /bin/bash
As you can see you get the UID number as well as the GUID. Does this answer your post?

  • Am I trying to add users to a group correctly?!

    Experts (Dave?!):
As posted yesterday, I'm finally able to log in to the RHS Admin Console.
I've been testing the Users areas. I'm having trouble adding users to a group other than the RobAdmin. Please let me know what/if I'm doing wrong. My procedure:
    1) Access the Users panel:
    2) Click the upper Add to add new group writers:
    3) Click OK. The writers group appears in the Group pulldown:
    4) Type in new user Kurt:
    5) Click Add. Note how the selected group snaps back to RobAdmin!
    6) Click Yes to confirm the user addition:
    7) Observe how Kurt is now added to the RoboAdmin group. (D'oh!).
    8) Observer how Kurt is NOT added to the writers group. (D'oh d'oh!)
Is the above the expected behavior? If so, how does one add users to a non-RobAdmin group?!?!?
    Thanks in advance!.
    -Kurt

Kurt, I hope the robo team is reading this, because I think this problem has been going on for a long while. What happens for us is, you can create the group, then add the user, then the group disappears from the drop-down upon refresh. I remember John Daigle looked at it a while back and was puzzled. It's the only part of server that isn't working right for us now, but it's a real pain--I can't create groups or add users.

  • Server App not seeing external LDAP users & groups

I have a clean 10.8.2 + Server install set up with our standard external LDAP directory (Novell's eDirectory in our case) configuration that is known to support Lion & Mountain Lion client LDAP authentication. With this same configuration on OS X 10.8.2 Server both Directory Utility and WGM can see all the LDAP users and groups as expected.
When I look for the external users & groups in the LDAP domain under the Server App "Accounts" heading I cannot see any entries in either users or groups lists. Should I be able to or is this a Server App quirk?
I can add individual LDAP users to a local group and enable access to individual services. How can I give access to services to all LDAP users without having to build & maintain a massive "All LDAP Users" local group?
Is there a published list of required LDAP attributes for users & groups for Mountain Lion Server? I suspect there are new requirements over and above those for 10.6 server but I have failed to find a good reference. I've noticed I get different behaviours for LDAP templates that includes a mapping for GeneratedUID to one which does not for example.
This is all so much more opaque than our superbly reliable Snow Leopard servers!
    TIA

    Ok, and again:
You want to see Users and Groups , which are stored in an third Party directory service like OpenLDAP, in your Server.app? This is what you have to do:
Connect the third party ldap to your server
Have all your external LDAP entries made so you can see them in the Workgroup Manager and are able to Login with them
When you see your LDAP-entry in the Directory Manager, change it from "From Server" to "RFC2307"
Edit the entry, add the following mapping to it:GeneratedUUID maps to apple-generateduuid
To your group and user entries in the external LDAP add the follwing attribute:apple-generateduuid gets the value taken from the output of "uuidgen"
    Feel lucky
And there ist ist; now you are able to use The accounts taken from an external LDAP.

  • Unable to add AD user or group in app-v 5.0 management console

    Hi,
I am doing POC of app-v 5.0 at customer’s environment. I did the testing of app-v 5.0 in my test lab environment and its working fine but at customer environment I am getting below error in app-n management console.
    Invalid input was passed.
There was an error on the server. Please view the event logs on the server for more information.
I am getting the above error when I am going to add or giving access to any active directory user or group in app-v console. Below are the snapshots.
So can anyone help me in this?

What does the AD environment look like? Have you confirmed that there are no issues with authentication and name resolution?
Is this a clean server that you're running the Management Server on?
    What's in the event logs?

  • How to add user in administrator group of project server 2010 with powershell command ?

I want to add one user in Administrator group of Project Server .
Please let me know how to do this through power shell command.

    Hello,
You would need to use the PSI in your PowerShell commands. Here is a .Net example to get you started, convert this to PowerShell:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ajjose/archive/2013/05/24/creating-a-project-server-user-and-adding-user-to-a-group-through-psi.aspx
Examples of PowerShell and the PSI can be found here in some of the scripts:

These wont do what you need but will give you an idea of using the PSI in PowerShell
