Add video effects to iMovie

Hi everyone
This is the first time I visit this forum. I bought my first mac last Xmas.
So, I need to make videoediting and I found iMovie very simple.
Does it is possible to add some extra effect like transition, moving video clip, titles with funny graphics or something like this? I found something on geethree.com but it seems to be just for iMovie6.
Please, help me.

Plug-ins like from geetree where closed when iMovie'08 was introduced and is not
possibly any more. Only alternative is to get iMovie HD6
or FinalCut any version where You can add Plug-ins at Your liking.

Not real happy with 08 over previous versions but I would like to gain back some of the functionality that I regularly used. How do I add special effects, such as slow motion to a video clip or a portion of a video clip.

Both applications can be run on the same computer. Use whichever application best serves your needs. If you need a lot of plug-in effects, use HD. If few or nor effects other than standard transitions and titles are required and speed is paramount, then use iMovie '08. If you like being innovative and want to try your hand at creating your own effects, use iMovie '08 and learn how perform pre- and post-edits to create your own fast motion, slow motion, stop motion, pseudo time lapse, still framed, backgrounded, blended, layered, picture-in-picture, etc. that may "tickle your fancy."

Hi, I'm a new user of imovie and I have found some difficulties: where is the video effects menu? In particular, it is possible to increase (or decrease) the speed of a clip?

iM08 offers no effects at all, that option was dropped by Apple..

Video effects in iMovie 10.0.3 for Macbook Air?

I recently purchased a Macbook Air which has iMovie 10.0.3, but I can't figure out how to add effects to my video clips, like the bokeh effect, I have seen tutorials on the internet but they are all for the older version of iMovie!
Can someone tell me how? step by step? Thanks in advance

Put your videos in a folder and sync iPhone with iTunes, "Photos" tabpreviously selected "Sync photos" and checked the box next to "videos include" I understand you do not have Mac, but with a PC can do the same, with this you will reel and your videos can be edited withiMovie on your iPhone.

Is there a way to add video censors in iMovie 09?

Just want to add a video censor to a couple films. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, just a black box will do just fine.

You should be able to simply drag a video clip onto your video track; the same place you previously had your background image. I believe Video Track 1 is recommended for the background you are going to use.

Okay I could totally be missing this in the program, but is there any video effects in Imovie 08. I can find transitions and titling but no video effect, and if there is, than where? Please someone help me.

How to save video effects for title templates?

I just started playing with Premiere Pro CS4.
I have a beginners question, hope you don't mind:
In my video I use a third-low title to tell the name of songs played. I put them in a bin, basically just copy the first one and change the names in the copies. But when I add them to the timeline I noticed it looks much more professional to add a video-effect where opacity goes from 0 to 100% in a second, and then the other way at the end.
My problem is that I seem to have to do this over and over again, for each title. Is there a simple way to make one title-template, put it on the timeline, add video-effects, and then save that and make copies just changing the text in time-line? That would save me a lot of work, and the video-effects would be consistent in looks and timing.
Thanks for any hints or tips for this newbie.

I'm trying to add video effects to my project. I can not find the video effects button. I clicked on the clip, then the inspector comes up. The directions say to find a video effects button that says none, but I can't find that.

Does iMovie have Sound and Video Effects?

Before i begin filming my college film i wanted to ask and see if imovie has sound and video effects. what i mean is like, say in the film a gun is shot, well does imovie have a shot going off sound? are there sound effects? or am i asking in the wrong place and see if garageband has these?
also, video effects? i know imovie has like sepia and black and white tones among others but can i add other types of effects? if so, what kinds?

you're looking for specific effects for your specific needs.. why not launching iM on your MacBook.. and look for your own..???
BEFORE doing a "serious" project, I would allway do some test/dummy projects, just to get comfortable with some software ...
plus:
the two additional audio tracks allow easiely to place small audio snippets, downloaded from anywhere in the web to your movie.. if you need explosions, gunshots, lightsabres, whatever, the iNet is full of sources...
plus:
you can teach iM lots of new tricks by installing/purchasing 3rd party plug-ins, if you need very special effects , iM does not support out-of-the-box.

(PS - you can't simply drag and drop an effect on multiple clip selections, the effect will only be applied to the clip you drop it on -- but double clicking the effect will apply it to all selected clips at once.)

Add multiple effects to a title and to a video

I have an edited video and inserted a title before the video starts. I would like to have the title zoom and while zooming, fade in. I apply the zoom to the begining of the title on my timeline, edit the duration and the start and end size then try to add a fade but the fade overwrites the zoom. On all the videos I found, they drag and drop the effects onto the clips on the timeline (I have to add them to either the front or back) then it appears on the Effect Controls under Video Effects. When I do it, I do not see the effect under that, I can only see the effect options when I click on the effect on the time line.
I have tried the same thing to the video itself and can only add one effect to each clip.
What am I doing wrong? How can I add multiple effects to things on my timeline?

Here is a +1 for Jim's suggestion to look into Keyframing the Fixed Effect>Motion>Scale, to create your Zoom.
You could well explore Keyframing another Fixed Effect>Opacity, to have more control over your Fade-In too.
