Add WLC to Prime 1.2 trial

Hi,
I have installed a trial of Prime Infraestructure 1.2 and I want to add one WLC, but I can not see the menu show in the prime configuration guide: condigure/add controller, does any body knows how to add the WLC?
thanks for you help.

Hello,
The normal procedure is:
Adding a Wireless LAN Controller
Step 1 Choose Operate > Device Work  Center.
Step 2 Click Add. The Add Device  page appears.
Step 3 In the Add Device page, enter the necessary  parameters.
Step 4 Click Add.
For further clarification take a look at the following cisco doc in "working with device configurations"

  • Cannot add WLC 5508 to Prime Infrastructure 2.1

    Regards,
I've been migrating / implementing a WCS to PI 2.1. I had several problems at first to add the 11 WLC we have to PI which I could be solving by trying and testing as I have not found many references by Cisco when it comes to troubleshooting when deploying PI.
    I have several queries:
    1. The WCS was added 11 WLC using different SNMP communities are configured on each of them. At first when trying to add the WLC had PI SNMP communication problems. I performed the test to eliminate any of the WLC added to WCS and add it again with some communities already existing R / W without any problem. At the end, I could not add the WLC so I had to create an SNMP community with the IP of Prime in the WLC so that they can be added. Does anyone know what is the cause of this?
    2. I could not add a WLC 5508 IOS 7.3 using this method, even creating an SNMP community and IP mask 0.0.0.0 / 0. No access list or FW in between the WLC These WLC are spread over several countries but i was able to add the other WLC adding a community in each WLC pointing to the IP of Prime. It is similar to this case:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12232506/cannot-add-wlc-5508-v761200-prime-infrastructure-21
    Thanks for the help.

It turns out that this situation was caused by a bug in 7.6.120.0 (CSCuo73572).
TAC handed me an escalation image (7.6.120.16) that fixed this.
Added the controllers sucessfully on the first try.

  • How do I add my serial number to the trial version?

How do I add my serial number to the trial version?
Downloaded the trial version of CS6, purchased it, and now I'm trying to add the serial number, but don't know where to enter it.

On the Trial page , where it shows "x" days left.
On bottom you will find a button "License this software " , click on that and follow the onscreen instruction.

  • Use WLC's service interface IP when add WLC into WCS

    Hi All,
Does anybody know if there's any limitations or bugs to use WLC's service interface IP when add WLC into WCS?
Another question is I remember there's a post previously says that there are a bug regarding to ARP if the WLC not using LAG but connect one port to one switch, connect another port to another switch, so that's why it is strongly suggested to use LAG, but I can't find it now, anybody know it? Thanks!

The service port is controlled by the service-port interface and is reserved for out-of-band management of the controller and system recovery and maintenance in the event of a network failure. It is also the only port that is active when the controller is in boot mode. The service port is not capable of carrying 802.1Q tags, so it must be connected to an access port on the neighbor switch.
If the service port is in use, the management interface must be on a different supernet from the service-port interface.
The service-port interface controls communications through and is statically mapped by the system to the service port. It must have an IP address on a different supernet from the management, AP-manager, and any dynamic interfaces, and it cannot be mapped to a backup port. This configuration enables you to manage the controller directly or through a dedicated operating system network, such as 10.1.2.x, which can ensure service access during network downtime.
The service port can obtain an IP address using DHCP, or it can be assigned a static IP address, but a default gateway cannot be assigned to the service-port interface. Static routes can be defined through the controller for remote network access to the service port.

  • Cannot add WLC 5508 7.2.111.3 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0

Though the Cisco Prime Infrastructure Compatibility Matrix list out that 7.2.111.3 is supported for PI 2.0
I am not able to add the controller to the PI 2.0.
The Reachability Status always shown "Unknow" and SNMP Status always shown "No response for SNMP Get".
There is no firewall between the WLC and PI.
And ping test shows it is reachable.
If I try to add controller by non-management port (I know it is not work but I want to try the reachability), the Reachability Status shown "Reachable" but the SNMP Status always shown error.
And if I use some SNMP testing software to test the SNMP port. SNMP can be quoted.
I have try to lower down the "Maximum VarBinds per Get PDU" but no luck.
Any thing I can do to troubleshoot the problem?

Yes, I follow the procedure but it does not work.
    Another update:
I add another WLC with version 7.0.98.0. It is fine.
And I setup another new PI 2.0 and new temporary WLC5508 with 7.2.111.3 to test. It work fine also......
So, I am wondering the existing 7.2 WLC have problem in responsing the SNMP Get. But I dont have any idea to test....
Do anyone have idea to test the snmp connection between PI and WLC?

  • Cannot add WLC 5508 v7.6.120.0 into Prime Infrastructure 2.1

    Hi everyone
Hope you can help us with this issue.
We already configure the WLC using this guide: http://mrncciew.com/2013/02/14/configuring-snmp-on-wlc/
    snmp v2: enable
    snmp v1: enable
    default port values
community: incaenic with ip and mask 0.0.0.0 to allow access from any network or ip
traps receiver:                   community: incaenic                 ip: 10.100.100.15
when we try to discover the WLC with the PI it gave the error "SNMP Connectivity Fail"
WLC is on subnet 10.100.102.0/24 and PI in 10.100.100.0/24; there is a Catalyst 3850 between then with no access list on then.
Did someone can guide us with this?
    Best Regards.

    Hi,
Which version of SNMP are you using?
If you are using v1/v2 you should be using community string rather than local database credentials?
Regarding the service port what is the ip address assigned on the service port. From the configuration guide "Prime Infrastructure uses the preferred management IP address from the loop back interface. If the device does not have a loopback interface, Prime Infrastructure uses similar logic to the OSPF algorithm to select the router’s preferred management IP address."
    Hope that helps.

  • WLC 5508, Prime Infrastructure, 7921 phones and QoS

    Hi everybody!
I have deployed about 50 wireless cisco phones int the network with 27 APs with the WLC 5508.
I'm trying to investigate phones behaviour (I have some loss of audio).
And I use Prime Infrastructure for monitoring.
I run the Voice Diagnostic on the selected two phones.
and in the Charts I see the next:
    1. for one phone "Downlink AC Queue Usage" shows all the traffic of "voice packets". but "Uplink AC Queue Usage" shows all the traffic of the "Best efforts packets".
    2. for the second phone "Downlink AC Queue Usage" shows all the traffic of "Best efforts packets". and "Uplink AC Queue Usage" shows all the traffic of the "Video packets".
that is strange, very strange. the WLAN of these phones uses platinum QoS. none of other WLANs uses "gold" QoS.
does this mean I have a QoS misconfiguration?
where may the failure be? WLC? switches? router?
    please, any suggestions...

I noticed few misconfigurations as per your response
    1. Are you configured AP as FlexConnect ?  If not AP connected switchport should be configured as ACCESS port & trust DSCP. If it is configured as FlexConnect, then you can configure switchport as turnk & in that case you  have to trust CoS using "mls qos trusct cos" command.
    2. WLC connected trunk ports always to be configured to trust CoS not DSCP. Otherwise WLC set QoS value ignored by your switch.
    3. If you WLAN is set for Platinum then you have to configure Platinum QoS profile for 802.1p & set value as 6.
I would suggest you to verify QoS value preserve across you switch network. You have to take some wireshark packet caputres (as shown in my reference link) and make sure your voice packet DSCP goes into rest of your network as EF. You need to do this for upstream & downstream (from 7921 perspective) traffic. Here is the traffic flow if AP connected to switchport 1 & WLC connnected to switchport 2.
    7921 <-> AP <-> Switch port 1 <->  Switchport 2 <->  WLC <-> Switchport2 <-> Rest of your network
Once you do this, then you can go to Prime & check those charts to reflect QoS values correctly. Otherwise you do not know where these QoS value get stripped/or modified in your network.

  • How to Add additional Module to SAP NETWEAVER TRIAL

    Hi! Everyone,
I'm completely new to SAP, I was able to install the above subject with its GUI and working perferctly fine, however is it possible to add additional modules such as Logistics, Procurement and sales? Thanks in Advance

    Hello Albert,
If it's a trial Netweaver, maybe it's not possible.
Generally you use SPAM or SAINT tcodes to add more packages.
Maybe SAP NetWeaver Administrator   will be able to help you.

  • Add WLC in WCS

    Hi,
i can?t add a WLC in my WCS. The WCS can ping the controller, SNMP is configured properly. I got the message "Failed to add device to WCS". The WLC is running Version 4.0.155.0, the WCS is running version 4.0.66.0. Are there any other credentials than snmp which have to be configured ?? Have anybody these versions installed ? Thanks for any suggests.

Did you change the default snmp strings in the controller? Make sure that the status is enabled and try setting the ip address and subnet mask to 0.0.0.0. Then try using both the read or the read/write strings. I had that issue today and I just deleted and recreated the strings.

  • WCS cannot add WLC over slow link

I have a WCS running at our main data center. We recently added a WLAN Controller (4402)in a remote office that is located over a VPN tunnel.
The WCS can PING the WLC (but it is slow at about 250ms), and I can access the controller's web interface from the WCS server. I just cannot add the controller, it gives me the error "No response from device, check SNMP communities, version or network for issues."
Any thoughts on what I can try?
I have also verified the SNMP communities and removed and re-added them on both the WCS and WLC, and I've tried both the RO and RW strings. No difference.
    Thanks.

Here is what appears in the log when I try to connect via SNMP v2c.

I tried an extended ping from the WCS's default gateway and if I increase the datagram size to 1500, I get the “M” = could not fragment reply. However a size of 1300 works fine.

  • CPI Device add (WLC) failed (InventoryCollection Error)

    Hi,
I have a WLC (2500) and want to add it into the CPI.
There are many other WLCs already in the CPI with no problems.
So when the CPI starts the collection of SNMP information from the "evil"-WLC this process ends with an failure:
    "Collection failure"
Other error::Wireless Controller inventory collection failed. Failure to collect feature class com.cisco.server.managedobjects.bridge.SnmpCommunity.
Software on the WLC is 7.4.100
Software on the CPI is 2.0.0.0.294
So I checked the WLC.....found nothing.
A SNMP debug on the WLC was OK.
Than I checked the Jobs on the CPI and the following Jobs status was failed:
    PushCollectionPlanToDA
A check of the log shows the error why the CPI could no add the WLC:

Can anybody help me to fix the problem?

I also tried this many times - but always with the same result.
I tried SNMP v1, v2, v3, created other credentials on the WLC and used them.
Might there be a problem when exporting a config from an running WLC, modify it and upload the modified config to a new WLC? Thats the only thing that differ from the other WLC managed from the CPI.

  • Add wlc to the WCS

    Hi experts,
I want to add a second wlc 4402 in branch office(4.1.171.0) to WCS (4.1.83.0) in Headquarter. During this operation I receive this messages from wcs:
"controllers unreachable, check smnp and network for issue". I try to ping from wcs to wlc (no problem), snmp community is correct (there is another controller that use this communiny without problem). There aren't firewall between wlc and wcs. Can you suggest something?
    Regards,

Are you using the ready-only community instead of the read-write community?
Are you able to do an snmpwalk from the WCS box?
    (assuming linux with net-snmp-utils installed)
or something like getif on a windows box.
What about ACLs between the two devices?

  • How do you add LDAP to Prime Collaboration Provisioning?

    Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any suggestions why the LDAP test continiously fails when adding LDAP as a resource to Prime Collaboration Provisioning 10.0?
I'll attach a screenshot of the details that I'm using. The details are correct as using these directly from CUCM 10.5 installation works fine.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
"Admin Distinguished name" should be the name of the user that should be present in LDAP user search scape you have provided.
I suppose you have locally also created the same LDAP user on CPCA with different password (same passowrd doens't matter).
Let me know whether you are still getting same issue.
