Add WPS printer to Time Capsule

Hi !
I Need to add an WPS HP printer to my TC, with the old firmware i had no problem, but now i have 7.6.1 and i can't find the menu to enable WPS.
Where i can find the old "add network client" in "base" menu ???
Tks.

It seems that is not connecting to my Time capsule.
Can you help me out ?
plug the printer in to the computer by USB and use the install program which you will have to download from HP if you don't have a DVD drive on any of your computers. If you have cd drive just follow the install and manually set the printer to infrastructure mode and put in the TC wireless name and security settings.
The latest version of the airport utility supposedly added the WPS install for wireless printers.. are you running 6.2 airport utility?? Look up how to do printer installs with it if you haven't already.
I always prefer the manual setup as I am then in control.. but as you like.

  • How to add a WPS client ( not a printer) to Time Capsule?

    Hello,
I am trying to add a WPS device to Time Capsule 802.11ac firmware 7.7.3 using Airport Utility 6.3.2.
I have to add a device that can be connect to the network via WPS only ( it is a Mitsubishi MAC-557IF-E module that control via internet through Mistubishi MELCLOUD server my home air conditioning)
Airport Utility lets to add a WPS printer only. I have tried to add the device as WPS printer and Airport Utility shows the device ( with its right MAC address) in Network tab > Access Contro list . Unfortunately then  Time Capsule does not assign to it any IP address; so my WPS device cannot connect to internet.
Just to be shure the device is functioning properly I have tested it with another (Belkin) router with WPS button and it works fine.
It would be great to be able to connect it vie Time Capsule.
    Any suggestion is welcome.
    Thanks,
    distrits

The why is known to Apple alone.. so you have to ask them.
But due to the weakness of WPS .. it is a major security flaw. I can understand Apple not wanting to use it.. but that is no excuse to not make it workable when people do need it. I guess one button is one too many.. Apple already have a reset button.. having a WPS button would cause confusion.
I would go back and attempt it again.
But this time make sure you are using SMB standard wireless names. Everything in the world (even apple since Mavericks) uses SMB network. The problem is Apple wireless names are not SMB compliant.
So let me recommend you start over. Factory reset the TC.
    Give it a name. TCgen5
Please use different names for both wireless bands.. TC24ghz for 2.4ghz and TC5ghz for 5ghz bands.
Please set the 2.4ghz to channel 11, as that does seem to help. (if you have lots of wireless around you test on 8 or 9).
Then test with no security. See if the gadget will work. The reason to test with no security is not all wireless is compliant to standards. If it fails with no security then there is no hope with any other security level. So only if it passes continue to the next step.
Use WPA2 Personal security at first with a shortish password.. say 8-10 characters.. pure alphanumeric of course.
If that fails then you can try WPA+WPA2 but that is significantly poorer security.
    Good luck.

  • Add WPS Printer ALWAYs grayed out

This is driving me nuts. I've searched high and low and can't figure out how to get this "Add WPS Printer..." menu item to light up. I'm following the (very poorly documented) proceedure provided by Canon for my Pixma Pro-100. What am I missing?

I was able to get it to ungray out by clicking on the AirPort Extreme and authenticating.  Then it appeared.
I had to do it a few times, and the sequence that seemed to work was starting WPS on the router first, then starting the search on the printer.

  • We are trying to connect a new WPS printer to our network. We go into Airport utilities and then hit the Base Station drop down to access Add WPS printer. However, when you hover over the Base Station menu, nothing is highlighted. Suggestions?

We have tried to add a WPS Canon Pixma-Pro to our Airport Extreme network. However when we are in Utilities and try to access the Base Station drop down menu nothing is highlighted. Therefore we can not click on the Add WPS Printer title. I'm sure it is some user error that we are overlooking, but extremely frustrated. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Open AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme icon
Click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Now try the Base Station menu again

I connected my Canon printer to time capsule, and can print OK. However, I can't get the printer scanner to work. How do you set up the scanner with Time Capsule?

You cannot use USB. It has to be a network capable printer.. is it?? You did not indicate how it is connected.. but by wireless or ethernet then scanning is possible otherwise not.

  • How CAN I PRINT FROM TIME CAPSULE?

I've set up Time Capsule through Airport utility and Time Machine but had some problems doing so. Consequently, it was set up with print cable still hooked to iMac. Now that Time Capsule is functioning as a backup for my files, I've tried to print from Time Capsule to my HP PSC 1610 printer. I've transfered my print cable from iMac to Time Capsule and tried to make any changes necessary to print from it. But it doesn't work. What am I possibly doing wrong? I've tried following page 28 of Time Capsule setup guide (If your printer isn't responding) but that has not helped.

  • Add WPS Printer

In trying to add a WPS printer, the options under the BaseStation menu are there, but not available.  Why is this happening?  How can I fix it?

When follow the steps just above, this is what comes up.
Clicking on Add WPS Printer brings up the next option.
    And so forth.
Sorry, but I cannot duplicate the error that you are reporting.  Perhaps another user can help.

  • HT4600 where can I find the WPS button on Time Capsule (for connecting to a Canon printer)?

I can´t find the WPS button for connecting to a Canon printer wireless. Somebody who can help me?

There is no WPS button on the Time Capsule.
You might be able to get the printer to connect using the following method:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit
Click the Base Station menu at the very top of the computer screen. Do not click the Base Station tab in the center of the screen.
Click Add Printer and then select the First Attempt method, then click Continue
The Time Capsule will search for you printer. If it finds it, click Done
If this method does not work for your pinter, you will need to follow the manufacturer's instructions for manually connecting the printer to the wireless network.

  • Can't print through Time Capsule using Windows-operating computers

I've just bought a time capsule 500GB and it's working fine. It backups my macbook every hour and I can easily print whatever file I want through my Canon iP1800 series, which is connect to WAN port of my time capsule.
However, I have others 2 notebooks running windows, and I can't print from them wirelessly. I've installed the airport utility and Bonjour in both computers using the CD that came with my time capsule and I followed these instructions of an old topic here (_but it didn't work out_):
“1. Make sure the printer is recognized by the base station.
    2. Select 'Add a new printer' in Windows
    3. Select 'Local Printer' in the dialog box (auto detect and install
    should be off), click next.
    4. Choose 'Create a new port' and "Standard TCP/IP Port'. Click next.
    5. For the printer IP address, enter the address of the base station 10.0.1.1. The port name will be filled automatically. Click next.
    6. For the device type, choose 'Hewlet Packard Jet Direct', then click Finish.
Choose your printer from the list and follow the rest of the prompts to install and configure the driver.”
Do someone have any idea to tell me what's happening? How can I fix this problem and have Mac and Windows laptops printing through my time capsule?
    Thanks

When you installed bonjour did the Bonjour Print Wizard appear on your desktop? Or in the program menu?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3052?viewlocale=en_US
In my personal experience Bonjour sometimes doesn't install properly and doesn't appear on either the desktop or program menu, particularly if it is installed at the same time as another piece of apple software. Each of the times this happened I removed bonjour, using Windows Setup:Add/Remove programs, and then downloaded it again individually.
If you have the same experience as me you'll then be asked if you want to install a shortcut to the printer wizard. The wizard has done the trick for me. I've not yet had to resort to the rather more complicated "add new printer" route.

  • Can't connect macbook to wireless printer via time capsule

I recently installed time capsule as my lan router. i use a 10.6.8 macbook; i use a brother mfc-6490 printer wireless. the printer was working fine on my previous setup, which used just a normal wireless router. the printer sees the wireless network but i can't print to it from my macbook. i've reinstalled the drivers. any suggestions?

Did you delete the existing printer in System Preferences > Print & Fax, and add it again?
I realize you reinstalled the printer's drivers, but deleting and subsequently adding the printer is certain to be a requirement as a consequence of changing your router. As far as your MacBook is concerned, the printer no longer exists where it had been accustomed to finding it, so you simply have to tell it where it "lives" now.

Do a google around for that printer and airport usb.. (since airport is more common).
    eg. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1785847?start=0&tstart=0
Not all printers work or work well through usb print server.. often the drivers are just not written for remote usb connection. Or the printer is GDI type and actually needs direct connection to process the job.
Proper network inkjet printers are cheap.. keep the Canon connected to a computer if you want.. and get a wireless or ethernet network printer.. do not use the USB.. use the printers own internal print server.. and these days make sure it does airprint if you want to use iOS devices.
Remember the printer is cheap.. the companies make all their money on blades ink cartridges. Which they now add chips to, to prevent you cheating and buying OEM types.

  • Add USB hub to Time Capsule

If I add a USB hub into a Time Capsule, can I add HDD and printer(s) into the hub at the same time?
    Thanks.

Is there a limit on the number of devices (printers, HDD's) the can be accessed via the Time Capsule if I connect them through the Time Capsule's USB port via a powered USB hub?
    Thanks,
    Rick

  • How do I manage to setup my Canon to print via Time Capsule

    Dear MacGurus
I've got a Canon MP520 printer/scanner that I've connected to my MacBook Air (OS X 10.8.1) and works well with printing & scanning. Just received my 2TB Time Capsule and want to set it up as a printerserver. I've joined it to my local WLAN that connects to Internet and set it up with Time lapse for backup.
Now, plugging the MP520 USB into the back of the TC I go to System Preferences -> Print & Scan. Here I naturally see the MP520 being unplugged from my McBook Air (as it is now plugged in to the TC...) Anyway, I click the small [+]-icon and selects "Add new printer or scanner". Here I now see the "Canon MP520 series" listed as a "Bonjour"/printer with Location on my TC. Selecting it and clicking "Add" a pop/says "Setting up Canon MP520 series-2, downloading software" and the progress par reaches some 30% progress when I get the following error message:
"Can't install the software for the Canon MP520 series because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."
What is the problem? The printer works fine locally, but not over the air. Is it not supported by Bonjuor?
    Kind regards
    Niclas

Much more likely they don't have network drivers for ML.. try downloading whatever software is required directly and then installing it instead of allowing auto install.

  • Wireless + wired printing with Time Capsule?

I print wirelessly from 2 MacBooks through a Time Capsule to a wireless HP printer, and would also like to print from a non-wireless Vista PC. How do I add the PC to the mix? Thanks for your help!

Download and install bonjour for windows.. the printer should then show up as available.
