Add Written Signature to PDF

I want to add a written signature to an existing PDF document.
I would prefer to use an Image XObject in an annotation, but unless I'm overlooking it, there doesn't appear to be a way to create an annotation that shows an image.  So now I'm thinking that the only way to add an image to the page is to create a content stream that shows an Image XObject, and add the stream to the page's '/Contents' array?
The other way that I've found is to vectorize the signature and use an Ink Annotation, which seems pretty straightforward, but would require a lot of changes to my signature capturing system.
Any other options that I'm overlooking?

Don't look for annotations, look at the form field capabilities: You can
add a button with an image as the button face. That's a fairly straight
forward process to bring an image into a PDF file. Once the button is in
the PDF, you can then flatten the page to "burn" the image into the PDF so
that it's no longer an interactive button.

  • Digital signature on PDF file from C#

I want to add digital signature on PDF file from C# code. I understand from web that there are some third party license required, or I would need to use Adobe Acrobat to apply digital signature on PDF using acrobat APIs.
What is the licensing mechanisim for acrobat is APIs? What is the cost effective way for applying digital signature on PDF files.

Hi,  Use C# to create signature on PDF. You can refer to my link http://www.e-iceblue.com/Knowledgebase/Spire.PDF/Program-Guide/How-to-Create-PDF-Digital-S ignature.html

  • How to add digital Signature Field in cfdocument pdf files?

    Hi,
We are generating pdf files using cfdocument to populate values and wondering how we can add digital signature field in those pdf files. Any help or comments would be deeply appreciated.

    Hi,
Yes, we have options to add digital signature to the pdf. We have one attribute called "Permissions" in "cfpdf" tag. If we provide permissions = 'AllowSecure', then system would allow digital signature for that pdf.
Please go though the docs for details info. I will post in details next.

  • Is it possible to add a signature box on the bottom of forms?

is it possible to add a signature box on the bottom of forms?
We have a customer who is thinking of using forms, but needs a signature box to be included in the form is this something that can be added?

    Hi,
Unfortunately, Adobe FormsCentral does not have an option to add signatures.
In order to distribute forms requesting signatures, you may use the following Adobe products:-
Adobe Acrobat:- PDF creator, edit PDF | Adobe Acrobat XI
Adobe EchoSign:- Electronic Signature Software, Digital Signatures | Adobe EchoSign

  • How can I add a signature and insert pages?

The security settings only let me either add a signature OR insert, rotate or delete pages. I need an option to do both. Is there a way to make my own custom security settings?
Basically, what I need is a document that is not editable when you open it in illustrator or other editing programs. Setting the security to allow only adding and rotating pages is perfect except for the not being able to sign it thing...
We work like this: We print a file, add one of the customized "approved" stamps in the annotations pallet, add some other pages to it and send it to the sales rep. They may need to extract or delete pages but have no need to edit them. However, compeitors occasionally will get the file and want to import it into their own system. Which is why we want the security, so they cant.
If theres another way to add some sort of stamp or signature to the file, that would be fine. Its just an iso thing.
Im using windows 7 and adobe acrobat XI pro.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by "security". Do you apply a "Permissions" password to PDF? If so, then remember that Adobe products and some other PDF Viewers obey restrictions that you set for a PDF, but many 3-rd party PDF Viewers do not. So, even if you set the restrictions, it is still possible to not obey them. There are even Web services where you can upload a PDF with restricted permissions and it will return an unrestricted PDF. This whole restrictions thing was put in PDF when Adobe was the only game in town but that was 10 years ago..
You can use certifying signature to reliably restrict what can be done to PDF, but Acrobat UI provides limited restriction choices. Other Adobe products, like LifeCycle provide more restrictions choices but this is probably a too expensive solution for you.

  • Signature with .pdf image only?

I have created a fillable form using Adobe Pro XI.  The form can be filled out using Reader and
users can put in their digital ID signatures into the blocks I created for
that.  However, going through the process
of signing the form, the only option for a scanned in image of a hand written
signature is a .pdf file.  Guess I
thought any type file such as jpegs, bitmaps, etc. could be used.  The problem with the .pdf file is our users
cannot crop this type of image down to just the signature using Reader.  So, when the image is placed into the
signature block, it is the whole 8.5x11 page.
Can’t really see the signature.  I
tested some other fillable forms for Reader found online from other sources and
it I is the same thing.  Can only use
.pdf  file as the signature image.  Is there another way to do this?  Am I missing something?

Reader only allows signatures from pdf files, Acrobat from other files. When scanning their signature they should be able to scan to a custom size page or use a graphics program to crop the scanned image even if it is a pdf. The Mac Preview program is capable of cropping pdfs. The only graphics program I use on Windows is Photoshop, which can do the job, but it is certainly what I would call overkill for the job. Perhaps ImageJ or Gimp can do the job of cropping.

  • Digital signatures on PDFs

Sorry if I am posting this question in the wrong location, but hopefully someone who sees this message will be able to answer or point me in the right direction. I did perform a search and could not find a definitive answer.
There are documents in my company that will be circulated for approval and we would like to apply digital signatures to indicate that certain personnel have reviewed/approved these documents. I have the capability with Acrobat 3D version 8.1.5 to add digital signatures to a PDF. My question is: Is that true of all versions of Acrobat? If not, can anyone tell me the most recent version of Acrobat that has this capability or how I might find this out. I won't necessarily be the one creating the PDFs; thus, the question. Also, is there a better practice for indicating review/approval of a document?
    Janice

    Hi Janice,
First thing, the comment above is incorrect. You can most certainly add multiple signatures to a single PDF file, and one signature does not invalidate the next.
Onto your question; if you want to author the document with existing signature fields in a specific location you need Acrobat. However, once the fields exist you can “Reader enable” the document so the signature field can be signed using either Acrobat or Reader. If the file has been Reader enabled, then the user can create (place) a signature field wherever they like.
The ability to add signature fields has been in Acrobat since version 4 when digital signatures were introduced. The ability to sign using Reader has been around since version 5.1 (there was no 5.1 of Acrobat, only Reader). The ability for Acrobat to “Reader enable” a document for signing has been there since version 8.0.
    Does this answer your question?

    Hi,
I am using Adobe acrobat x pro for editing pdf documents from sharepoint, it's working fine but when i am trying add digital signature it shows me save as diloug box which i don't need because I want to edit that file directly on server location.

When a signature is applied in Acrobat/Reader, it forces a Save As. Otherwise it can't work.
