Added file not in library

I have tried several times to add file to library then iPod. It all looks OK, it does not show up. It will immediately play when I open iTunes on the computer, but not available on iPod. I cannot locate the playing file in iTunes

Once you have added the WAV file to your library, select it. In the upper-right corner of your iTunes window, where it normally says Burn Disk, it should say Convert (or something to that effect).
Clicking the icon will convert the file to the format and bitrate you have set in iTunes preferences.
Once you convert the file, you can delete the WAV file from iTunes if you wish.

  • Some files not in Library - how do I have iPhoto bring them in?

When I originally set up iPhoto I told it not to copy my pictures to its library. Later I did.
Is there any way to get it to automatically transfer all those pictures not in the Library to it and keep my Events intact?
    Thank you!

    No.
But you can try use AliasHerder to move the Original files into the Library and replace the aliases there.

  • Adding files to the library

I have a few things I've recorded myself and some other audio I would love to use to expand my Soundtrack Pro library. What's the proper way (if there is one) to add files to the library so they show up in the application's library? Sorry if this has been asked before. I tried searching for the question in a few different ways. Thanks in advance.

OKay, I just came across a question someone had about moviny their library and I realized the way they did it is also the way to add directories, so I indirectly got my answer.

  • Error when adding folder to library - Not adding files to ITunes library

Hey all, I just got my iPod for Christmas and I've been having a lot of problems with iTunes. Sometimes when I'd add a folder it'd add all the files 3 or 4 times, and now I'm having an even bigger problem. I was trying to get all my music in one place to finally have some organization on my comp, so I set it to copy files I added, then I figured I'd delete the old folder. I have a folder that, when I try to add it, it gives me the error "Attempting to copy to the disk "C:\" failed. The file name was invalid or too long."
It continues to go through the folder (Another few hundred songs, or almost 600 depending on if I did the top level folder) and it LOOKS like they're being added to iTunes, but they never get added to the library. If I try to update my iPod after this, the program takes all the music off my iPod. If I close and reopen, then it will update music, but NO files are added to the library. I can see that the files are being copied, and, as such, I'm not running out of disk space. These files are in there two or three times in some cases.
So, I have two questions. Does anyone know what causes this error, and does anyone know an efficient way I can delete all the "non-detected" files?

You'll probably have better luck asking the question here -> Windows EightForums
iTunes isn't designed to work with Windows 8 or any beta software, so theres no suprise that it isn't working as expected.

  • CD added; but not in library

I added a Garth Brooks cd about a month ago & just discovered it isn't in my library. I tried to "consolidate" but it said it wasn't possible. I went into my setting and have made sure that box is checked off now so everything will be added. I'm afraid other cd's I've added aren't in my library, either. How can I do this and how do I convert songs to mp3's?

Check the songs are really not in the Music section of the library by clicking the magnifying glass in the search box and unticking Search Entire Library if it is ticked, then typing in the name of the album. If the tracks still don't show try closing iTunes and deleting a hidden file called sentinel from inside your iTunes folder. This should make iTunes run an integrity check on the database when you start it again. Make sure the tracks are checked before you try syncing again.

  • How to Clear Iphoto and Rebuild from another file, not Iphoto Library?

I have over 7000 images. Some of the Iphoto thumbnails are from my desktop file and some from the DATA file copied into Iphoto. I want to rebuild my thumbnails using all of the pictures on my desk top, not copying them/duplicating into Iphoto. The reason I want to rebuild Iphoto is years ago while copying and moving pictures on another PC the picture data was deleted and the date data of the pics was lost. If I load the images, Iphoto mixes the images up. I have organized all the pics on my desktop into folders by month and year. When I tried to rebuild, old photos show up again so I deleted the original Data (photos) in Iphoto and after rebuilding they reappeared with many images just black boxes. I was expecting a blank page so I could start to build the thumbnails from my desktop folders.
How do I get a blank screen/no images in Iphoto? Select all the images and drag to trash? To be safe I have all my pictures saved on 2 ext hard drives. Also can a select a group (i.e. by month) and change all the date info at one time?
    If you can help...THANKS

    BgMc
It’s difficult to advise you because you’re using non-standard terms. I’m worried that if I misunderstood something that I might give you a bum steer.
Some general principles: Don’t “clear iPhoto”. Instead make a new Library: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'.
When you have this new Library working you can delete the old one.
In general, if you have a Folder of images and you drag them to the Source (or left-hand) Pane in iPhoto the pics will be imported and a new Album and Roll will be created. This may help.
Some of the Iphoto thumbnails are from my desktop file and some from the DATA file copied into Iphoto.
I have no idea why you would want thumbnails. Surely you want the full sized files? What’s a desktop file? Do you mean Desktop Folder?, also what’s a DATA file?
I want to rebuild my thumbnails using all of the pictures on my desk top, not copying them/duplicating into Iphoto.
This makes no sense to me. Why are you rebuilding thumbnails? And if you don’t want to use iPhoto then why are you posting here?
so I deleted the original Data (photos) in Iphoto and after rebuilding they reappeared with many images just black boxes
Here’s a really good general principle:
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.

  • Tracks only show in recently added? not music library

anything i add to itunes will show in recently added (or play list) and play fine but do not show in music library? Show in finder will display items where they should be in music folder in finder.  Searching through the recently added playlist is not as much fun as it sounds when you have hundreds of tracks.  Double clicking on track in finder will open track in itunes under recently added playlist, will not show under music library
    anyone else having this issue?
    thanks

Yes, it is a known bug.
By design,iTunes can only have a song in a playlist if it is also in the library.  However, due to the intermittent bug, sometimes newly added songs do not display in the Music library list.
Some people report that a system restart (sometimes more than one is needed) will get the display back to normal.

  • Problems adding files to itunes library.

I am having issues when I try to add my mp3 directory to my iTunes library.
It only adds some of my files. All my music is in .mp3 format. When I add my c:\media\music folder to winamp, it shows like 5100 files, but when i add the same directory to itunes it only displays about 4500 files.
Anyone know why this might be happening?

Same problem here. I have my library for several months, played it whole for several times, but sometimes iTunes just refuses to play some songs (no errors, songs just dont play). I right click on them, see the info, it's all there, all the technical info, the path and etc. I try to delete them from the library, but can't add them there again. I throw the songs from my directory to the library or a playlist window and nothing happens, no errors, no songs.
And no, songs are not protected. Moving the mp3 files to different directories or even hard drives doesn't help.
That happened for several times now, for different albums, just out of nowhere.

  • Problem adding files to iTunes library

Sometimes when I click on Add files to library and select the files from a folder, iTunes doesn't do anything. It reverts back to the iTunes folder on my Windows PC. Sometimes, it works, sometimes it doesn't. The only way that I am sure it will work is to add ONE file at a time.
Does anyone else have the same problem?

    Marbletucky wrote:
I had a fairly extensive library built up on my PC using itunes for PC. It was very easy to import .wma files by just dragging them into the itunes window. itunes would automatically convert them to a .mp3 format.
Correct. That is a feature of iTunes for Windows, and it makes use of the underlying capabilities of Windows Media Player. It does not work on a Mac.
I downloaded a file converter (Switch) and tried manually converting them, with mixed results. One album converted fine, but none of the artist/song information shows up when importing into itunes.
I have noticed that same flaw in using Switch. The conversion from WMA to MP3 yields tags that are truncated or missing. Most Mac users prefer EasyWMA for that conversion.

  • Added songs not in library, show up in lib search though. ***?

Using iTunes 11.0.1.12 on Win 7 Pro.
After upgrading to iTunes 11 I started having the following issue:
when I add songs to library, whether through drag-n-drop or from top menu, the songs gets copied to library folder but is not visible in library.
However, iTunes search finds the song and the artist with no problem, artwork and all however nothing happens when I click "play next" nor can I locate in library when I click on search result. Quiting iTunes or restarting computer doesn't help. Does anyone have a clue? Thank you!
Edit: found a workaround - add more songs, sometimes they all suddenly show up!

If you are using iTunes Match then when you have imported or downloaded. I have found that the following works
Ctrl B to show the top menu
    Store > Update iTunes Match

  • Adding files from another library

I am trying to add songs to my ipod that I got on my library on my home computer. The songs that I am trying to add are from another computer that has the same version of itunes and is a HP with windows Xp. I know there is a way I can do this because the other computer saw my ipod and put the files on there just fine.
    Thanks

You'll need to switch to manual update (iPod preferences after the iPod is attached).
After that, you'll need to drag the songs to the iPod icon in the source panel.
    Good luck!

  • Want to fire event receiver before workflow is execute while adding File in Document Library.

    Hi,
I have Event receiver and workflow attached to same Document
    Library.
Is it possible to fire event receiver before Workflow is
    executed ?
    Regards,
    Milind

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want fire event receiver before workflow is excuted.
If the workflow for a list is set to auto-start, it will always execute before event receiver by default.
Here is a similar thread for your reference:
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/3147/execution-order-of-event-receivers-and-workflow-on-a-list
As a workaround, you can set the workflow start by manually. Then , after executing the event receiver, you can start workflow using code at the end of event receiver.
Here is a demo for your reference:

  • ITunes for Windows freezes when importing a library. I have a large but not huge library of mostly iTunes purchased music on two authorized computers and would like to sync the files, export the library as a playlist, and import it on the other computer.

I am running iTunes for Windows 10.2.2 on Windows 7 Home. I have my iTunes library on both this computer and another authorized machine running Windows 7 Professional. I have a large but not enormous library, as I'm one of those people who doesn't pirate, use torrents, borrow from a dozen friends, or whatever other shades of gray you might imagine. It's mostly iTunes purchases with my old CD collection imported. I have started using the following technique to sync my libraries between my two authorized computers, an ability which you can probably all agree should one day be added to iTunes -- that would be different from Home Sharing, because the music would be stored locally and thus available on the road. With the added benefit of the entire library being backed up on the other machine in real-time. Anyway, when I switch from my desktop to laptop and vice versa, I use the following technique:
Connect both machines to the home network. One machine is the "Active" machine, which has most recently been used for iTunes media, purchases, ratings, etc.
On the "Active" machine, File-->Library-->Export. Save the file as "Library.xml" on the shared drive of the other machine.
Right-click "Library.xml" where it's been saved, and open another file that has two lines in it: The root path of the iTunes library on one machine and the root path of the iTunes library on the other machine.
Do a find/replace all in Notepad to make the library XML file point to where the files will be saved on the "Inactive" machine.
Run Microsoft SyncToy to synchronize the files between both music libraries; the most recent files win. This avoids copying the entire multi-gigabyte library over the network.
Open iTunes on the "Inactive" machine.
Go to Music, Select All, Delete. Keep files.
Do the same for Movies, Music Videos.
Go down to Playlists, select the top one, hold down the delete button until they're all gone.
File-->Library-->Import Playlist. Choose the "Library.xml" file you saved.
First a status bar comes up that says, "Importing library." It has the continually-scrolling progress bar, not the one that starts on the left and steadily creeps right. Then after about 30 seconds, that clears out. Wait. Typically a few minutes. Eventually a status bar will pop up saying something like, "Evaluating gapless playback information," or something like that.
The "Inactive" computer is now the "Active" computer. I can now play my library, it has all my playlists and metadata from the other machine.
Delete all the duplicate playlists named "Music," "Genius," "Purchased," and "iTunes DJ."
Well, I just upgraded to iTunes 10.2.2 a few days ago and tried to do this again like I've done it dozens of times before. Now, iTunes just goes unresponsive after the library import. It got through the "Importing library" bar to the long wait and stopped. I can still multiprocess and use other programs, but iTunes is hovering back there not responding to clicks. Task Manager doesn't seem to think iTunes is using my CPU, and I don't see my hard drive rattling. Any thoughts on why iTunes might hang up when importing a large library?
... Also, please help lobby Apple to come up with a network sync tool built into iTunes for a user with multiple authorized computers. Something different than Home Sharing so I can pull my laptop off the network and still have the synced library with me. And all my metadata changes will sync. The technique I use seems a little kludgey, don't you think?

iTunes isn't an editor. You need an app that's intended for editing audio files, like Adobe Audition (http://www.adobe.com/products/audition.html) or Audacity (free in the App Store).
