Added Noiseware plug-in to Photoshop - Can Lightroom do the same?

I just bought a new Canon 7D camera which gives the option for high ISO up to 64000. Even at 800 ISO, this camera seems to be giving me plenty of visible noise as I zoom in to the image in Lightroom. I've purchased the plug-in for Photoshop called Noiseware Pro which seems to really do the trick, smoothing out noise and maintaining detail.
The question I have is: Noiseware has controls for luminescence and others that look like the same controls that are available in Lightroom. Noiseware seems to give the right setting automatically based on the image, at least gives a good starting point, but my question: is is possible to achieve the same results in Lightroom? I'm thinking it is, but it also seems to require more fiddling than I can muster where Noiseware simply hits the mark and I'm good to go.

I'm the senior product consultant and testing engineer for Imagenomic, the creators of Noiseware and after reading your post, I thought I would interject a few tidbits of wisdom for you.
Although Noiseware has sliders named similar to Lightroom, the actual usage varies on image content. Each image has its own unique noise signature and so in essence, Noiseware's slider implementation takes this into effect.
As to achieving the same results in Lightroom, most any of the noise reduction programs, especially the top commercial ones, will allow a much more dynamic range of control and hence better results. Even out of the box default controls will usually whip LR with major tweaking. So far the LR3 beta hasn't impressed me any on its color reduction  (though it does differ from V2) and the odd exclusion of luma control is a flag to me as the intermixing of the two values, luma and chroma, is where the issues arise within the noise reduction world. The jury is still out on the end results at the final release though.
Adobe has decided not to give plugin developers a true path into the 'non-destructive editing' that is one of Lightroom's major marketing hypes so we're all stuck with outputting to a separate file first which adds another image and step to the workflow process. Ideally, plugins would fit into the develop module tabs and allow realtime preview of the results. As it is now, we must use a totally standalone executable (PC) or app (Mac) to achieve functionality which defeats the 'non-destructive editing' workflow.
Also, as a last note, you can run the Noiseware plugin through Photoshop from within Lightroom using droplets. The droplets are available here as well as a video tutorial showing how to implement them:

  • Can Lightroom invoke the same Photoshop functions as Bridge can?

Bridge has a tools menu with a Photoshop item sub-menu. It can invoke a number of Photoshop functions such as "Image Processor" and Auto "batch" functions on a selection of images from within Bridge. Does Lightroom also have this capability?

Lightroom replaces the functions of many Photoshop batch capabilities, with its own Export and Publish and Print to JPG features. The usual expectation for a LR user, would be, that Lightroom carries out the creation of different sized JPG versions etc. It is in some ways more efficient and economical at this than Photioshop is.
The specific batch tools you mention, are in effect scripted extensions of PS which I don't believe LR can access. In any case, the images that LR itself manipulates may include entities that Photoshop tools could never access, for example Virtual Copies.
That said, it is possible to reference a Photoshop Action in a "droplet" file, add this droplet to a list where Lightroom can see it, and then invoke this as a postprocessing step as part of a batch Export initiated by Lightroom. So, if you are creating a set of JPG (TIFF, whatever) images which need standard treatment as far as resizing, colourspace etc but also that need some kind of a standardised Photoshop operation to happen, this is a way to do it.
The PS postprocessing in this scheme, happens only to a brand-new, separate,  exported file. If you want PS to modify the master image as viewed in LR, then you are getting more into LR's standard external editing function instead - which is done image by image (and which similarly spins off a new image version and new file saved on disk). Any file-changing editing of the type that Photoshop does, it completely at odds with the nondestructive approach of Lightroom - like chalk and cheese, and this is reflected in the quite compartmented workflow under which these happen.

  • I'm in the trial period for Creative Cloud - I have about 19 days to go on Photoshop CC on my iMac.  Can I use the same CC trial on a second machine?  Specifically on a Windows 7 machine?

Nothing personal to you or Rajshee, but this is exactly why I absolutely despise these "community forums" (not just Adobe but any company).  I called the Tech Support phone line today after digging and digging for a phone number, and they told me the exact opposite, and they did it a lot faster than it was possible to get a forum response.  (That's really not personal, because you can't control that, but it's a fact.)
Their answer: As long as I'm signed in with the same ID, I can try, say, Photoshop CC on my iMac at home and also try Acrobat Pro CC on my Windows 7 machine at work.  Same account, same login, one trial.
This makes complete sense to me as I'm financially on the hook (potentially) for the same package.  If I give away my login to someone else, which I wouldn't do, I'm still on the hook.  This is why the cloud approach to software is such genius and I applaud it.
BTW, 99% of the "community forum" wrong answers come on Microsoft sites, so don't feel bad.

But sorry for my ignorance. I understand how you mean it, but I don't know how to do it. I'm scared to lose the settings/edits of the images.

You need to run a platform swap:

Until it's through, you can use the trial version.

Use Software Update to update your os to 10.6.8 and anything else that needs to be updated.  After the installations go to /Library/Preferences - trash the com.apple.Preview.plist file.  Repair permissions, restart your computer and empty the trash.  Your Preview issue should now be resolved.

Unfortunately, no. the CS programs are platform specific. You have three options. Upgrade to CS6 and request a platform swap, in which case you will give up the Windows serial number. Second, you could buy a second serial number for Mac outright. Third, you can buy the subscription to Photoshop CC, which can be used on both Windows and Macintosh..

If I sign up for a monthly thing of photoshop, can I cancel the subscription at any time?

If you go to the single app subscription, by month and paid by the month ($29.99/MO), you can. If you get the photography package ($9.99), no. You are buying a one year subscription. You can cancel it, but I think you will have to pay an early termination fee.

  • Can I sync the same iTunes library on both my iMac and my MacBook Pro?

Can I sync the same iTunes library on both my iMac and my MacBook Pro?  I've been connecting my iPhone to each and it's causing problems for me with them being different, despite my purchases always being under the same Apple ID.

The easy way to do this is to keep the library on an external drive which you can plug into either computer.  Of course this isn't always the desirable solution.  You can try routinely copying the library from computer to computer though this gets tiresome.
