Adding a background?

Okay, so I have designed a simple layout in PS. The image is
the header, navigation bar, and background for the entire site all
wrapped into one image.
I would like to make this the background for my site and be
able edit the regions where the background is to add text, images,
etc. I've tried doing Insert -> Image, but it will not let me
edit inside of the image.
Do I just create a div container for the entire background,
and then add editable div containers inside the image where I would
like to add text, images, etc?
I've been reading Dreamweaver: The Missing Manual, albeit a
great book, its not helping. Thanks for any help. =]

This is the worst possible approach, you know?

  • Adding a background image to every page.

    Problem:  I am attempting to add a company logo (.jpg) file to a multipage PDF document.  I know I can add the logo as a stamp but I need the logo to be on every page in the same position and with the same size.  I was hoping that using it as a watermark would be the answer but I can't seem to get it to work.  It would be great to be able to add it in the header section but it is not an option either (so I think).  Please let me know if there is any tricks I can learn to accomplish what I am seeking to do.  I would be willing to upgrade to Acrobat Pro X if needed.
    Background:  I am running Mac OS X (10.6.7) and Adobe Pro 9.  The issue I am running into involves a file in Microsoft Excel 2008 that contains multiple pages of spread sheets and charts/graphs.  In Excel, I add the company logo to the header section and it shows up on all pages.  When I go to print out the document some of the pages need to "Shrink to fit" and when they shrink so does the logo.  Ok, take the logo out of those pages, done.  Next, on the pages that have graphs and visual charts the logo appears on the computer but is hidden behind the visual graphic when you save as a PDF.
    That said, I have a well functioning PDF but after saving from Excel only some of the pages have the company logo on them while the others do not.  I need to have the logo on all pages in order to send as a digital version (company requires it).  My only solution right now is to print out the pages (not containing company logo) on pre-printed paper containing the logo and then scan those pages back in digitally and add them back into my PDF document.  Not only is this method time consuming but it also cuts up the PDF into a on OCRed type of PDF.
    Can't wait to hear your replies on this one!
    I really appreciate your help.  Feel free to contact me directly or via the forum with any questions.

    Boy that makes a lot of sense.  There must be something up with my file in regards to adding a watermark.  When I have my document open in Adobe Acrobat 9 and I try to add a watermark I receive the following error.
    "An error was encountered while retrieving page content."
    I open a different document that I don't care to add the watermark to and it opens fine.  I think your answer to use watermarks is spot on.  I need to see if Adobe Acrobat X will allow me to add a watermark to my file.

  • RE: Adding Custom Background

    Hello Everyone.
    I have Imported the .psd file into Encore. Later, I opened the Backgrounds Inside the Library, and I Dragged the .psd file Into the Backgrounds. But the .psd file dose not show Inside the Backgrounds, But It dose show Inside the Images In the Library.

    If that is what you want, you're set. But double clicking a background in the library should just add that image as the background in the menu (already added to your project) that is in the menu viewer.
    Did you import it originally to Encore "as asset" or "as menu"?

  • Adding a background to all topics

    Hi again
    I have searched the forum for this and have not found
    anything. Has anyone got any ideas as to how to add a watermark to
    every topic on a HTML Help File made using RH HTML (X5.01 with 5.02
    upgrade)? In RH for Word, you go to the project settings and can
    add an image as a watermark there and specify if you want it to
    scroll with text or not.
    I suppose I can do this on my RH HTML Help File, maybe in my
    CSS but I am not very familiar with the way CSS files are displayed
    in RH. Is there a style that relates to a topic body and that is
    valid for all topics? My watermark is a jpg with the company logo
    and apart from adding the relevant code in True Code on each topic,
    I do not know how to do this?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    1. Select Format > Styles.
    2. In the Styles: window, select Background + Text (BODY),
    and click Modify...
    3. In the Modify Style window, click Format and select
    Borders and Shading.
    4. In the Borders and Shading.window, select the Shading tab.
    5. In the Pattern > Image area, browse for your image and
    experiment with the other settings until you get what you want.
    Good luck,
    Leon

  • Adding new backgrounds to Photoshop Elements 11

    Hi I have recently purchase Photoshop Elements 11 and i am wanting to transfer all my backgrounds and graphics to the program.  I located the Photo Creations folder and pasted my backgrounds in the "Backgrounds' folder but when going back into the program they are not showing.  Could someone please let me know what i am doing wrong, thankyou

    I am wanting to do this as well.  I had more graphics and backgrounds in PSE9 than in this v11 - and I really want to add those back to v11.  I am replying so we can get this back up to the top and maybe get an answer.  How do we get the graphics from previous versions back in PSE11 and add additional graphics as well?
    Anyone know how to do this??

  • Adding a background image in php

    Hey guys, i have a php file on which i need to add a background image to better coordinate my website and i can´t remember the code and where it goes. Could someone help ?
    thanks guys.

    I think the two links from w3schools should show you.  Or go to any straightforward web page and use your browser to view source and take a look at someone elses page.  Or get to grips with a Firefox plug-in called Firebug.  Or just read any basic CSS tutorial.
    If you can post a link to your page it will be easy for someone here to show you but in my opinion, this is one you ought to work out for yourself.  A consistant piece of advice regularly given here by the experts is to learn HTML and CSS if you want to get to grips with DW.
    Having said that, DW will hold your hand a little if you use it's tools for writing CSS.  http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/css.html

  • Adding a background video clip covers my template.

    Is there a way to have a background video playing behind the framesFilmstripCover template?
    Thanks!

    Do you have Flash? If so, it's pretty straightforward - there's a FLV playback Component, you drag that onto the stage, link it to your FLV file, and save as a SWF (more or less).

  • Adding a background window

    I have a JFrame with a set size that now needs to have the possibility to be maximized. BUT, I want to keep the size used previously. Ie I want to put the present window into a new window with the proportions and restrictions kept.
    I'll try to describe below - the small window is my original, the larger is one that is only needed because the user wants it maximizable and to change all layout would take too much time.
    |----- |
    || | |
    || | |
    |----- |

    /Olle

    Ok, after trying the solution out I need to rephrase
    the question: The user can resize the window - but
    what I need is to be able to keep my original window
    its original size. I want to keep my window (e.g.
    500*600) the same size, but since the user wants to be
    able to fill the whole window with something I want to
    put a white background to it.
    /OlleThat sounds like using null-layout.
    If you set the bounds of your components directly they keep the size and the location with null.layout when user maximizes the frame.

  • Adding a background image with HTML?

    Just a quick one. Want to add a background image to the html

    Thanks all!

    You can place the image in flash. Flash has onResize handler
    which in conjunction with
    listener, can detect the changes in stage, scale movie to
    fill the window while preventing
    other content from scaling. This is very common, when we
    resize background to fill window
    but hold the content intact. Try to search the forum for
    "onResize". That's the only case,
    in most posts, where we deal with the exact same issue as the
    one you looking for.

  • Explorer Issues with Website Adding White Background

    I am working on making simple cosmetic changes to a website I did not build. More complex job than I thought mostly because of trying to figure out the past designer's coding. I have a basic knowledge and was able to make the needed changes. Except that in Explorer there are white boxes behind my header links. The background used to be white with blue text, I have switched them. Works fine in Chrome, Firefox and Safari.
    The website is: iflygillette.com
    Anyone have an idea on how to fix this? You can see the screen shoot below. Our slideshow of banner ads also stops after one loop on Explorer. I've been reading through code until I'm cross-eyed. Not sure. Thank you!

    Your banner is a Flash animation which cannot be viewed by iPhones, iPads, iTouch, Androids or any other browser/device that does not have Flash player.
    You may want to change that to a jQuery rotating banner.  For examples, look at jQuery Cycle2 or Wow Slider.
    In your SpryMenu.css file towards the bottom, there are hacks for older IE browsers.  Currently, your background color is set to white.  Change that value.  Save and upload the style sheet to your server.
    /* HACK FOR IE: to stabilize appearance of menu items; the slash in float is to keep IE 5.0 from parsing */
    @media screen, projection
        ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE
            display: inline;
            f\loat: left;
            background: #FFF;  /**CHANGE THIS COLOR**/

  • Adding colored background and border to the report

    Hello again,
    May I know how can I add background colour and border to a particular row or column of the output of a report? Thanks a lot!
    Regards,
    Anyi

    Are you saying that this does not work?
    report zrich_0001.
    format color 1.
    write:/ '12345', '12346', '12347',  at 132 ' '.
    format color off.
    In my system, it is a solid background color from posistion 1 to 132.  The entire line is blue.

  • Adding a background behind a video

    I've been using quicktime to add a black background to my files. My files are 720x300 and I put a 640x480 black background behind them. I resize the 720x300 file to make it fit into the background.
    Is there anyway to do this in FCE? I plan on buying a book so I can learn the program, I just wanted to try it out before filling my mind with lots of info about FCE.

    It's the default behavior of FCE to place a black "background" behind everything, so yes.

  • Adding a background to a photo

    hey every one this is my first post and I'm kind of new to adobe Photoshop elements.i make custom spearguns and I just hired a web designer to build me a nice web site but he wants me to take pictures of all my speargun using a green background so that the guns look distinguished so his team can extract the image and put it into a different seen which is fine so I painted a lime green back drop and made a stand and painted that the same color so they can do their magic but the problem is that I have pictures of different guns that I've made taken on the top rail of my truck to where their would be foliage in the background and I would like to use those pictures for the web site but I don't want to have to pay his design team to abstract  the guns from the photos to where we can use them and look professional.SO how do I take the gun from that photo and put a lime green back drop behind it. are their any tutorials that would help me? or maybe one of you guy's are experienced in this matter and can give me some insight.here is a picture like what I'm talking about thank for all your help

    Cory,
    Here is what I did:
    Opened picture file
    Duplicated background layer, shut off visibility of background layer, worked on background copy layer
    Used lasso tool to isolate the speargun from the background
    Went to Layer>new>layer via copy
    Placed a blank layer between layer created in step #4 and background copy layer, and filled blank layer with green
    Duplicated layer created in step #4, and went to Filter>Stylize>Find Edges, and reduced opacity of this layer to 10%
    Sharpened slightly with unsharp mask.

  • Adding a 'background' to page numbering

    Hi,
    I have a large document which includes multiple PDFs that have been imported into the appendices.
    I want to turn page numbering on so all the pages are numbered, which is easy enough of course.
    The problem I have is that some of the pages (in the appendices) follow totally different formats or may have graphics and text where the page numbering is and therefore you are unable to see the page numbering on these pages.
    Is it possible to format the page numbering in a way so that it always shows up - perhaps say a white box so it appears on top of other page elements?
    Many thanks.
    I'm using Acrobat XI.

    A 'background' layer always drops to the bottom of the stack, hence the name.
    A 'watermark' layer can be on top or beneath, but if it's on top and left editable it will be above the header/footer too, so you need to flatten it as got go:
    Create your 'whiteout' boxes using the Watermark tool.
    Open the Layers panel on the left sidebar in Acrobat.
    Click the tools dropdown and choose Flatten Layers, agree to the warning
    Now use the header/footer tool to add the page numbers on top

  • Adding 2 background images

    Hello all!
    I'm trying to figure out if this is possible..
    I have 1 repeat-x image to the body that acts as a gradient background but then I would like to add a second background image with repeat-x again. I need both images to repeat at 100% width behind all the other elements, like header, container etc. But it seems I can use only 1 background image in body.
    Is there a way to add 2?

    Since you want it to go behind everything, just create a div that wraps around your content, and apply the background to that.
    body {
      background-image: url('images/imageA.jpg');
      margin: 0;
      padding: 0;
    #wrapper {
      width: 100%;
      background-image: url('images/imageB.jpg');
      margin: 0;
      padding: 0;
    <body>
    <div id="wrapper">
      All your page content goes here
    </div>
    </body>
