Adding a extra Monitor

HP TouchSmart 310-1124f Desktop PC
I have the above computer, and I would like to add a 2nd Monitor but it's not touch screen I do the Weather here in my area, and a Weather Spotter, I would like to add the 2nd Monitor so that I can keep my Radar, Weather Station up all the time, and stop flipping back and forth between browsers. How can I add the 2nd Monitor that is older Moniter it does not have a USB cable, it's the older type monitor plug.

Welcome to the HP Forum.
I am not an owner of this system type -- I must assume it will in some way support a USB monitor.
I don't know what kind of monitor connector you have -- you can buy a converter for almost anything these days. Adapters do not cost a great deal, although I would not buy the cheapest one you can find -- one tends to get what one pays for.
For example: Use your favorite search engine and search (to start) for "usb monitor converter" or "usb to vga adapter" if you know your old monitor provides a VGA connector.

I'm running a Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz
with an ATY, RadeonX1900
I've got an extra monitor plugged into the extra DVI out. How tricky is it to run TWO extra monitors; or what additional hardware would I require? Is there any way to run it from this setup without having to purchase a Kona (or similar) card?

You can plug in as many monitors as you have video out ports. If you want more video ports, plug in more video cards. If you have three video cards with two ports each, you can connect six monitors. Mac OS doesn't make a distinction between adding a second monitor and adding a 15th or a 23rd, and it's been that way for years.
If you want to add monitors without buying more cards, you could possibly use one of the USB-based DisplayLink extenders like the ones Matrox makes. You would plug this into a USB port and plug your monitor into that. However, using one is kind of a waste of a Mac Pro because they are significantly slower than "real" video cards and lack advanced graphics support. If you are only using these external monitors for simple things like web and email windows, then a DisplayLink solution might be acceptable.

Premiere pro cs4 is adding an extra frame to my sequences

Premiere Pro CS4 is adding an extra frame to my sequences so that when I import them into Encore an extra, black frame plays at the end. In the program monitor my sequences stop at the frame I have set the sequence to end at but the counter on the bottom right of the program monitor shows that an extra frame has been added. This duration, not the duration I have set for my sequence, is what Premiere Pro is importing into Encore. I have spoken to Adobe technical help and the representative was having the same issue but she could not resove it. Help! Thank you!

For various reasons, I always add Black Video to the end of my Sequences, to allow for any extra Audio Units. As I also Export DD 5.1 SS, I allow 02 sec. of Black Video at the beginning, to allow set-top players time to "lock onto" the DD 5.1 SS Audio Track. Many high-end units require this extra time at the beginning, too.

In the display settings on your computer uncheck "mirrored". This will put the displays in "extended" mode. In extended mode you can set the external display to its native resolution as well as drag windows from your computer to the external monitor. I assume that is what you mean when you say "split screen".

I found that the Thunderbolt input accepts the mini-DVI (in my case converter to VGA for a tutorial use monitor)
BUT, you have to really oush it in 'til it clicks. I thought it too loose until I tried it. works just fine!!

Apple tv communties said the Apple tv cannot do this, but maybe another type device can?

My thunderbolt port stopped working on my late 2011 MacBook Pro rendering my external monitor useless--or so I thought.
Mac Genius suggested using the Apple TV via AirPlay Display as a $100 solution. Took me all of 6 minutes to figure this out as there are no directions in the Apple TV box supporting this. But, it does work and I am now back in business.
PS. Don't set up with bluetooth--seems logical but you want to use AirPlay Display under Settings > Displays.
Also, I originally thought my external monitor stopped working because I upgraded the OS. This time, it was definitely a hardware issue and not software. It also fixed a known sound issue my monitor had with Macs. First time in my 15 years I've ever had a ViewSonic have issues with an Apple product, too. Thanfully, it is now fixed.

Using a laptop as an extra monitor

I have a G5 desk top, and an old power mac G4 laptop. The laptop is pants now and reallly slow. What I would liek to do is use the laptop as an extra monitor, as I work a lot in final cut pro, and studio pro, so a separate screen woudl be very handy. Is there any way to connect the two so that the laptop is just a second monitor?

I don't know the answer to your question of whether there's Mac software to do this. I do know there is Windows XP software to do the same thing on Windows (one such program is http://www.maxivista.com), so I wouldn't be surprised if there is similar software for Mac. In fact, I might be disappointed if there is not similar software for Mac.
One other possible option is to use something like VNC. If there are any VNC servers for the Mac that allow you to set up a server as a second virtual display, then you could run a VNC client on your laptop. It wouldn't be fast, but might be good enough. But I'm a Mac newbie, and don't know what VNC servers exist for it.

This works fine. But now one of our customers needs an extra element (header) in the XML file. How do I get this job done?

Adding an extra element to a XML message

Extra monitor w/laptop in office, when out of office how do I prevent Firefox from displaying on the non-existant 2nd screen?

When I am out of my office using my laptop, upon launching Firefox, it displays all of the tabs from the previous session on the non-existent extra monitor which is set up as a screen extention for when I am in my office. All of the other programs that I park on the extra monitor (Outlook for example) display on the laptop's screen when the extra monitor is not attached. Is this a bug? Or, must I not save my open tabs when exiting Firefox if I am going to use the laptop w/o the monitor?

Thanks for your suggestion. I sort of came to that conclusion as I was typing the original question. However if there is anyone out there who has a solution that is not dependent on my remembering to do something before I exit Firefox, it will be welcomed.

Extra monitors and raid storage on a 17" Macbook Pro

I have a 17" Macbook Pro, and I want 2 things:
An externnal monitor, as well as thunderbolt raid storage.
Is there any way to connect an extra monitor while using the Thunderbolt for raid storage?
Or do I have to use the eSata card for raid storage?
I need the real estate on the big screen to get things done, but I also would like to have the Thunderbolt raid storage.
What are my options? Any help appreciated.

Adding a 3rd Monitor to a Power Mac G5

I am curious as to how - and if - I can add a 3rd monitor to my G5.
Currently I have an ATI 9650 Graphics Card and it runs my 2 23" CD wonderfully. I have been considering adding a 3rd monitor if possible and getting a 30" to have in the middle of the 23's.
Does anyone have knowledge or experience in doing this. It doesn't necessarily have to be a 30 in the middle, another 23 would suffice.

video card that can be used in the g5
This turns out not to be the case. Any 3.3 volt PCI card will operate in a G5 PCI slot. This should include Radeon 7000, 9000, and 9200 PCI cards. I'm using a PCI Raedon 7000 in my G5 this moment. With my 2-head 9600, I can run 4 displays.
7000 PCI = VGA + DVI
9600 AGP = ADC + DVI
I am skeptical that any PCI card has an ADC port. The PCI 2.x spec doesn't provide for powering an ADC monitor, so I suspect an ADC display can be driven from only an Apple-AGP slot or a standard PCI-Express slot.

Address Book has added an extra day to birthday entries

Does anyone have a solution to this? I have seen a few entries on the address book automatically adding an extra day (or two) to birthday entries in the Address Book. Thanks

hmm, just to completely eliminate syncing problem turn off syncing on that computer and reset the sync folder. make sure AB is not running at the time.

You can't change your Apple ID or primary email address, if it was your primary email address you messed up, you could always create an alias with the correct spelling.

Can i use My Old iMac as a extra monitor. My Old iMac from early 2008 has a broken graphic card nvidia 8800 gs. When I start it up I hear the bong and see the symbol spinning then the screen goes black from right to left the computer is running but I can't use it. I assume it's the graphic card. Can I use this iMac as an extra monitor to my other iMac.?
