Adding a field to Repeating frame

HI
I am trying to add a field to repeating frame.When I select the text box from the tool pallette then I drag or click on the repeating frame,it creates the field.
But when I am trying to adjust it , it doesnot fit into the repeating frame.Then I copied over the existing fields inside and created a duplicate.But that still doesnot fit into repeating frame.

..Not sure to have understood what you mean by "But that still doesnot fit into repeating frame."
You can test to deactivate the Flex mode (Click on the icon "Flex Off" )
and uncheck the option "Snap to grid" in the menu View

Hi,
How do I add new fields to Repeating Frames in existing Report. The Report has 2 GRPFR, 1 HDR and 2 Repeating Frames. I would like to add a new field(column) to inner most repeating frame. I added the new golumn to QUERY and GROUPs in Data Model. After adding the new column to inner most Repeating Frame in Layout Model, the Layout model is losing all other frame and it is showing only the modified one.
How do I add new column to repeating frames without disturbeing other frames.
Any hellp will be appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!.

you must work in your layour editor
expand your repeating frames do it more big
for add your new items or field. after you inserted or add, can you put more little your repeating.
too can you to do one copy of one field in your repeating frame and assign it in his source your new item in your data model.
normally i begin with the principal frame and go one by one internally.

How can I add a field to a Repeating Frame in the body of an Oracle 9i Report whose source is in a higher group?
I want to change an Oracle 9i report. The report has no header or trailer but only a body. The body has the parent frame fields & a repeating frame with four fields, A, B, C & D. They all seem to be in one group. I want to add another field E to the repeating frame whose source is from the 'header'.
I added the field & created a boiler plate & then added the new field, E to the original group A, B, C & D. In the Property Inspector for the field, I pointed the source to the source column in the main query. However, when I run the report, I receive the error "Invalid body size". Some notes on Metalink indicate that this could be due to margins being out of the printable area.
Moreover, after making the changes & after having unsuccessfully run the report, when I try to open the Page Layout for the report, I get no details.

Please suggest problem in increasing height repeating frames

Hi,
in my report normally up to 100 are printed. i setted the vertical elasticity as expand and horizontal as fixed.
but while priting, in vertical, it is contracting if date is too short enough and expanding when dat is large enough. But what my requirement i want to specify the height of each field in repeating frame fixed. i.e. 3 centimeters and it should be same for all records printed on page and on each logical page and i want to print maximum 8 records per page becoz my print page size can hold maximum 8 records and each record at 4 lines. And even if the data is short enough it must not be contracted, if data is one line,and the remaining space that is in 3 cemtimers should be left blank and it must to go to second record. That is in fixed heigt of record repeart frame i want to print the data. If data goes more than 3 centimetres then date must be truncated. I did not find any height to set this property in Repeating frame property.
please suggest solution'

Hi Prasanth,
Enlarge the Repeating Frame height to say, 3 centimeters in the layout.
Set the Vertical (& Horizontal as well) Elasticity of the repeating Frame as Fixed.
In the Property Palette of Repeating Frame, set Maximum Records Per Page to 8 and Set Page Break after property to Yes.
This will solve ur problems.

Non repeating frame - when/how to use

Hi,
How do I use a non repeating frame on it's own.
I have one query in which I have selected 3 fields.
In the paper layout, I have placed 3 fields in a non repeating frame.
When I run the report, I get a REP-1213 error - Filed 'xxx' at frequency below its group.
When I place the 3 fields ina repeating frame, it works, because the repeating frame property inspector allows me to enter the group and the non repeating frame does not.
So, my question is, when and how does one use a non repeating frame.
I need to understand the principle behind it.

You mainly use regular frames to group objects together or prevent them from being overwritten. Check the help on About Frames.

Adding a field to a Repeating Frame in Oracle Reports

Hi,
I have a report that has 4 repeating frames. At the lowest level (Level 4), I have several fields to do with school swimming sessions - Session Start Time, End Time etc..
I want to add a field to that frame for Session Notes, and have tried doing this by going to the Layout Model, selecting an existing field (e.g. Start Time) and doing a copy & paste into the Layout Model, with a view to then renaming it and changing the Source to Session Notes.
However, each time the new field is being created at School level (this is the Level 3 repeating frame) - obviously then when I attach the Session level column as the source for my new field, I get a field referenced "at a frequency below its group" message.
Any idea how I create a field in the Level 4 group?

PS I am using Oracle Reports v6

Before adding the items for the level4,create a repeating frame and put the right source to the repeating frame.
After doing this,put the items on this frame,and they will be level4 items.

How to put non-repeating field in a repeating frame?

I have a formula field that creates the header for a list in a repeating frame. I seem to be in a quandary though-if I include the field inside the repeating frame the header gets repeated. If I put it outside the frame I get an error 'Field references Column at a frequency below its group'. If I move the formula column to the parent query it works except in the case where the child query returns no rows-then I get the header with no data.
So, I either need a way to display the header inside the repeating frame, but only once, or I need a way to suppress the header when the child query returns no rows.

Keep the formula column in detail group and create one more summary column as serial number for the detail records so in repeating frame place that field (formula column) in repeating frame and use the PL/SQL code for that field as below...

RETURN FALSE;
END IF;Then it should display for the first record only.

Premiere adding repeated frames when overwriting with transitions

Hi,
Having a bit of a problem (software bug?). I work with groups of clips on a timeline with 5 clips for each group (Intro / segment1 / segment2 / segment3 / outtro) and each week we replace 1 or 2 of each segment so we don't have to do a complete re-edit each week (for example one week we may replace segnemt 2 in each group for the new week and keep 1 & 3 intact)
I'm replacing clips on a timeline using an Overwrite Edit while keeping the transitions from the previous clips intact (cross dissolve with center alignment). The new clip is IDENTICAL in length to the previous clip I'm replacing (so "handels" are already there) however Premiere is adding repeated frames to the head of the new clip (so the incoming image freezes up until half way thorugh the transition). One way I found to fix this is using the SLIP tool to drag the new clip to the left and line up the in point of the new clip to where it should be. I'd use this as a fix, however I'm replacing over 300 clips in some instances and it's just not time efficient to slip and tweak each one.
I hope this makes sense.
Anyways, has anyone else encountered this? Is it a bug? Any workarounds?

I hear ya, unfortunately in our case we actually don't have a choice deciding where each scene begins and ends because the first frame of the next clip is the next frame in the animation sequence (we have a tile wall floating with moving images over so the flow between the two clips needs to be seemless.) We use a cross dissolve where the overlapping frames match each other during the transition, so the 5 segments stitched together look like one consistant flow). We do this so we can swap out different content segments each week so we can quickly update rather than spending hours re-building the entire segment each week. If you've ever seen the FirstLook conclusion in the movie theaters before the movie starts, that's what I do Sounds like Ann's solution will work for us in this case.

Why the placement of repeating frame hide he record of other fields ?

Hello,
After creating a data group in Data Model, I place a repeating frame corresponding it the group created.
But In the presentation of the report, There is records in first line and after space, no records of other columns only data for the column grouped is seen. And too the reality number of pages has increased.
Why this fact is occured ?
How to avoid this ?

Try 2 select the repeating frame by selecting one of the fields in ur group layout then
e.g
F_BANK_NAME then select it's parent frame > will select the repeating and adjust it.

Hiding Text Fields Outwith a Repeating Frame

Hi
I have a set up where a row of data fields are within a repeating frame but the text headings are outwith the R frame because I do not want the headings to repeat.
How can I set this up so that if the main data fields is null then return false for the text headings?
I am finding this difficult because the text headings are outwith the repeating frame so I can't manage to reference to within the repeating frame (i.e. when field is null return X) using the format trigger.
Any valuable feedback on how to comlete this otherwise simple problem would be very much appreciated?

Than if there is another parent row the Data 1 repeating frame breaks and continues as below but this time there is no data 2
Heading 1 for data 1
Data1
Heading 2 for Data 2
And the heading is still there but no data.

All fields same height in repeating frame

Hi,
If I have multiple fields inside a repeating frame and all fields and the frame are set to vertically expand, how can I force all fields to be the same height as the highest field so that everything looks equal in height even though there may be less text or no text in some fields?

If you use expand property to all fields they can't be at same height.
You mast set the property to fixed and set equal height to all fields on the canvas.

Format Fields in a Repeating Frame

Hi All,
I have a repeating frame with multiple fields in it. I was trying to change font and size of those character fields when some parameter changes. If I put the "if ... then.." in each field's format trigger, it worked. Since those fields are included in the frame, I was thinking can I just use frame's format trigger to change its fields attributes? Is there anyway I can refer to individual field while using srw functions?

Typically you want to use the following order when dealing with how to manipulate data:
- do it on the server
- do it in the data model
- finally, do it in the layout
If you do want to do this in the layout, then you'll need to keep track of the the previous value in a PL/SQL package variable and set this value in the format trigger. You can then reference the previously set value on the next instance of the repeating frame.
However, this creates difficulties since a format trigger for a single instance of an object may execute more than once (basically when it doesn't fit on the previous page). To get around this problem, you'll need a count column in the data-model to check when you need to update the package variable value in the format trigger.
If you can, take a look at changing your data to calculate this value and just display it in the layout.

CS5 adding repeat frame

I've exported QuickTime files from Final Cut Pro for VFX artist using CS5. The file format is Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2 23.976. When the files are handled in CS5 at 8bit they are frame accurate, however when the comp is switched to 16bit or 32bit the first frame is repeated (thus causing the comp to render out a frame short at the tail). I tried Uncompressed 8-bit as well and same issue. I tested ProRes and don't get the repeat frame at any bit depth. As a note using AJA kona 3 driver 8.

Page Break Before & Repeating Frame (Reports 10G - Windows)

I have to give page break when a condition met in a tabular report.Like it s advised I tried some layout objects with page break before property true and wrote their return code true if this criteria occurs. But whatever I tried, I couldnt get my desired output.It gives page break but repeats a blank repeating frame in the next page but only with that object I added later with page break property. Anybody have an idea ?

Hi,
sounds like there's no child object for your object with page break before. This property has only impact of the object itself and all it's child objects. An object is a child object of another object, if the position of this objects has impact of the own position. This is only the case, if the parent object is vertical expandable and the child object is horizontally overlapping the virtual expand-region, or the child-object is anchored to the parent object.
So if you have this layout:
blue box fixed size
red box fixed size
yellow box fixed size
and you set page break before to the red box, you will get:
blue box
yellow box
-- page break
red box
If the red box is verical expandable you will get:
blue box
--page break*
red box
yellow box
So in your tabluar report your field of the report should be in a frame and this frame should be child object of your new object which must be vertical expandable or anchor them together.

How often do you need to display it? It sounds like you might want to base a summary on that formula with a function of first or last. If it's a per page basis, it can be a page level summary. If it's at a higher level repeating frame, then you can create the summary at that level. I'd suggest taking a look at the online help for summaries using the first/last functions.
