Adding a good quality microphone & web cam

Hi all, Happy Holidays
I want to add a good quality microphone and an isight cam to my Macmini (early 2006 model)
Any recommendations and which port do I use? Thanks Web dude

Hello Web dude
For my normal voice work, including speech recognition and iMovie voiceover work, I use Logitech USB Desktop Microphone. It works fine for me.
About cameras: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5725045&#5725045
Your system info shows Mac OS X (10.4.8). If you update to 10.4.9 or later, you can use the UVC cams mentioned without additional driver software. Depending on which processor is in your mini, I suggest you apply the current version for your Mac:
Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC) or
Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel))
mini users sometimes use Firewire hubs or other extenders. If you do, and if you are still considering buying an external iSight, be aware of Possible hardware or software conflicts with (external) iSight.
Have fun shopping,
EZ Jim

  • Hello All, I want to measure sound level and do octave analysis for Pumps pl suggest a good quality microphone

Hi all, please help me to choose microphone to measure sound level of pumps

I agree with DOS. a 2.8Ghz CPU should OC to 3Ghz easy and should reach 3.2Ghz without much trouble. If I where you I would go with Kingston, Corsair or Geil, probably in that order. If you don't plan on overclocking passed 3Ghz their is no reason to go above 3200 for the RAMM frequency.

  • T400 Yellow Hue in WEB CAM??

Hey Guys, New T400 arrived today, took 5 days to ship! Everything looks good, except the WEB CAM has a NASTY yellow tint to it.. I know I saw someone else post this issue but cant seem to find the post, are they all like this and if so is there a fix? Thanks!!! Running XP pro. Also, got the Vista business downgrade, XP on the HD no vista disks, but the license is on the bottom of the machine and HD only has ONE partition!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
your recovery disk should content XP.
Vista should be on your recovery partition, take the disk out of your drive and
    boot with pressing F11.
May be in Ati Control Center is an option to calibrate the webcam?

  • Satellite S70-A-11H web camera image quality is not good

    Hi,
Running windows 8.1 which came with the laptop.
    New out of the box.
    As per title.
I find the image quality of the camera image to be very grainy, poor color etc.
When I start the web camera using the search bar on the right, it starts using the Microsoft application, when you scroll down to settings all that is available under settings/options is Photo aspect ratio, Grid lines, Location info.
I have been in touch with Toshiba Tech support who advised to do a Laptop refresh, which I did.
    This made no difference.
After which they asked me to find the Toshiba web camera application on the laptop, this should have been in the Program Files folder in the Toshiba folder.
This application does not exist on my laptop.
The tech checked the same model laptop that he had available, which I was told when he selected the web camera, it opened using the Toshiba Web camera application, not Microsoft.
I have looked at other Toshiba laptops with web cameras, and found the image quality to be better. Unable to get to settings as these laptops were on display and in demo mode, hence locked down to some extent.
I can't believe that a web camera in this day and age for this value of laptop to have such poor image quality. My digital camera from 10year ago has better image quality.
I have checked through the laptop, and I do not have this application installed.
I have checked for updated drivers and software for my laptop, and cannot find this application to be applicable for my laptop. Drivers etc appear to be up to date.
I would like to know, do other users of this S series have any issue of camera image quality.
When the camera is selected what application is being used, Toshiba or Microsoft.
Is Toshiba web camera application applicable to Windows 8.1, as I cannot see it listed for 8.1
Does this sound like a hardware fault or a application/software issue.
Any direction or help on this matter would be appreciated, as I am getting to the point of returning this laptop for a refund.
    Thanks in advance.
    D.
Yes, I have tried using the FORCE!

    > The tech checked the same model laptop that he had available, which I was told when he selected the web camera, it opened using the Toshiba Web camera application, not Microsoft.
The Toshiba webcam application is available for Win 7 system but the Win 8 and Windows 8.1 system use the own Microsoft webcam application.
    > I have looked at other Toshiba laptops with web cameras, and found the image quality to be better.
Different Toshiba notebooks are equipped with different webcams.
Satellite S70-A-11H was equipped with a *0.92 mega pixel webcam*
A Satellite A660 for example was equipped with an _1.3M mega pixel webcam_
So there is a difference in webcam resolution

  • Web camera video quality in Flex

Hi, I have a flex app which turns on a web camera and shows
the video from the camera. The problem is that the video resolution
is a bit choppy or pixilated. I know it’s not because of the
quality of the webcam since the video is very clear on other
players. Anyone have an idea how to make the resolution clearer?
Here is a test app you can try yourself.

    Hi John
Sorry i don't have the answer, but i'm interested in your question because i have the same kind of issue when i import in iMovie 08, 09 and iMovie HD from my Sony SR10 AVCDH camera.
I just can say that when i export directly from iMovie to iDVD the quality is bad; this seems to be a well known problem and it is recommended to export video using the Quicktime with H264. With that method, i can obtain good quality in the STATIC images, but during the panoramic movements of the camera the final result (i mean a DVD on my cathodic TV) is disappointing, with a "jerky" rendering.
You can download on my iDisk an exemple of it at: http://public.me.com/leclercqpascal
When i compare with the same sequence treated on the PC Sony's software, i find in the latter case a perfectly smooth result.
The problem is the same when i import from the camera to FCE.
Help welcome, because i would be disappointed to resort to a PC software!

  • Good web cam

Can anyone help, Im looking for a good quality web camera that I can use with a OS 10.4.11 Tiger. I publish photos to the web using Image Caster. I have been using a logitech pro 9000 good quality but it has no supporting softwear/driver and tends to melfunction the softwear. Im using an Isight at the moment but the quality is not that good. Have a look mayefilms.com/campage_html.
    Thanks

You have pretty good camera's already, there good. No need for drivers, the Logitech is UVC compliant. You need a good broadband connection that is stable. Have you considered comparing the application you use to cast to other comparable applications? This might bring an improvement that doesn't require the purchase of a new camera.

  • Does the older external iSight Web Cam produce better quality video than the built-in iSight in current computers or is it about the same?

I am starting to do video blogging more and have built in iSight on my MacBook and MacBook Pro.  I also have the old iSight external web cam that was made prior to them being built into the computers.  I never used the external camera because when I bought it, web cam's weren't popular and I couldn't get anyone else to learn to use one to skype with me, plus back then... I had no idea nor no use for video blogging.  Before I pull it out and try to learn how to use it, I was just wondering if anyone else has used it and whether the quality from the external camera is significantly better than the built in cameras - enough to warrant using it rather than the built in.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

  • Internal microphone and web camera not being detected

I've just bought last week this toshiba Satellite L845D-SP4387RM model and my microphone was working just fine a few days ago, yesterday that I wanted to use it for skype it just stoped working, actually the computer does not detect  any internal micro nor the internal web camera, I've allready tried reinstalling the Conexant Audio drivers, restoring Windows 8, reseting BIOS to default configuration, I've also tried going to control panel and check if the micro and camera are enabled but the internal ones just does not appear on the list, the only ones that appear are the corresponding to external ones. I don't believe that the problem is hardware malfunction because everything was just fine a few days ago.
Some help on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated!

After some reading I found that the intenal camera and microphone are connected with the same cable, so I believe that if the camera is not working then the micro will not work too, I'm triying to fix this, perhaps the problem is with the camera drivers, Does anybody have any idea that will provide me with some help? thx.

For recording video , the 720P HD video camera at the back is amazing quality when their is enough lighting. You would be pretty amazing what a little device such as the iPod Touch can do.

  • Vf-0040 instant web cam is not working good

This is my first web cam it's a hand me down ,i spent days trying to figure out how to get it working until i found out i needed 2 different software's to run it. Download the Creative WebCam Center and WCC_PCApp_US_1_71_02 driver and know it's sort of working after all my effort.
It is so blurry i can't even make out my own face? I cleaned the lens with alcohol and a cue tips and it wasn't any better than before and there is what seems to be a fake focus adjustment knob but it doesn't move? I played with the software and used the advanced settings and got no noticeable difference except in the color of the blur that's supposed to be my face.
What did i do wrong or is the web cam wrong

    Hi there @Vonita
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having problems with your webcam, and I am happy to help. Firstly, can you post the full product number and the operating system you are using? That would help me to direct you to the correct drivers.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
For now, you can take a look at whichever of these most applies to your system.

  • Can't get good quality audio/video.

I'm creating a video chat application, and no matter what combination of Camera/Microphone/NetStream properties and functions I use, I cannot get high quality video/audio. I get occasional audio latency, pixelated video, occasional frozen video and the degree of each depends on the combination of properties/functions I set/call.
Others such as TokBox, TinyChat, Chat Roulette, etc. have achieved great video/audio quality with FMS, what is the secret? At least point me in the right direction, because right now I'm not impressed with FMS ability to provide a good video/audio experience.
    BTW, I'm using a P2P mesh using a group specifier, not NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS.
    Thanks in advance!

You mention that if Flash Player is used for encoding you cannot achieve very high qaulity as of now, just wondering how else the encoding would happen, as users of this video chat app would be broadcasting via their web cams. In that case does FP handle the encoding, and what else are my options other than FP?
I think we are using FMS in its default configuration after installation (we use the Amazon Web Services FMS).
How can I "disable aggregate messages or totally disable the queues on the FMS that reduce latency, especially for live video chat applications". I'm very interested in hearing more about that.
Typically there will be up to 8-12 people in the group video chat room, with video pod size of about 147x110 px.
We are using Speex for audio currently.
Hoping more info might move us forward.
    Thanks very much.

  • What are good quality speakers to purchase for mini mac

what are good quality speakers to purchase for mini mac?

While I can't recommend any brand of camera, you should consider a couple of things about the editing... iMovie 8 is a good program to use if you just need to create something quickly with little real editing and sound manipulation. And iM 8 will interface with both DV tape cameras as well as hard disk/flash drive types as well. You can export the product to web services, etc very easily but it will take some extra effort to create a DVD from the edited shots. There is no direct export to iDVD.
If you want to get more serious about editing, you should consider looking iMovie 6 as it has much more flexibility in rearranging clips, adding and editing sounds, etc. However, it will only interface with DV tape cameras, which by the way, are the highest quality pics available, and you can create DVD disks.
You might try borrowing a tape camera to make a test run and compare it to a camera that uses a HD for storage. Use iM 8 and compare to ease, etc, and the product to one created in iM 6. This certainly is not the kind of recommendation you are asking for, but maybe will help in making your decision about which way to go.

  • Web camera info

is there any cheap web cameras i can use on my mac? as long as the quality is good where to buy?

    Hello nobrain,
    And Welcome to Apple Discussions!
There are a number of cam's which may work with iChatA/V, but I'd suggest you search this and the iChat forums first, as well as read this:
    http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/configs.html
It's got some good information and just as a parting comment, sometimes you get what you pay for, but w/the iSight, although expensive, has a lot to recommend, such as being designed by Apple, for the OS X system, having noise-canceling microphone, auto-focus and except for hooking up a FW camcorder (expensive and not nearly as simple to use), has the best resulting picture. If you want I'll post a link showing a comparison.
    Respectfully,
    Bill Gallagher
