Adding a Lightroom action to Export Actions folder

Despite endless monitor calibration with Spyder, my prints from Mpix come out much darker than they appear on my Intel iMac monitor (running OSX 10.5.5). I have tried using Shades to darken my monitor, but I don't like my screen looking that dark all the time, and I am afraid if it is not on all the time I will forget to use it when photo-editing. I am considering leaving Shades off and adding an action to my export preset for printing that would increase the brightness in Lightroom 2.1 by a certain amount. I know I could use a Photoshop droplet to do the same thing, but Lightroom will already be open, so I'd prefer to do it in Lightroom. How would I go about creating this action? I think I know where it goes once I've created it, but I don't see any menu item or subject in the Help files for how to create one. I'd appreciate any available help. Thanks

You should try using their icc profiles.
Apparently, they will send their profiles if you ask for it as others have been having the same issues with Mpix. I you have LR 2, you can export directly to these icc profiles. Also, make sure that you calibrate to a reasonable brightness of around 100-120 cd/m2, which is usually around 2/3 of the brightness scale on most monitors. These intel iMacs have very bright screens and might need even lower settings.

  • Export actions parameters

Is there any way to change the parameters LR send to programs (WIN)?
For example i have a export profile that saves images to e:\export\web and then opens my FTP program (filezilla). I placed the filezilla shortcut to export actions folder... Now when ftp program opens after export, it ties to connect site called E.
Same thing with my email program thunderbird, opening it after export it reports "e is not a registered protocol".
Also i tried to edit export presets manually to add command line parameters to programs that are opened (forexample filezilla.exe -s defaulsite), but those parameters were ignored.

Yes you can drag files straight to filezilla. BTW if i change my export location to somewhere in F:\ drive LR now passes "f" parameter to programs. I would understand LR would pass the whole folder to programs or would not pass anything, but this is quite annoying. Or LR passes some arguments in "table form" where first cell is drive letter...
Adding web browser as an export action opens the file, so i believe the programs that i have used don't support the parameters LR is trying to send.

  • Lightroom Export Action and Automator

Hi. Have an interesting anamoly that I hope someone an explain to me. I am trying to leverage Adobe Lightroom's export preset post-processing option to help in importing photos into iPhoto (where I can make easy use of the .mac photocasts). I created an Automator workflow comprised of the following actions: 1) Get Specified Finder items (with the export folder from Lightroom selected) 2) Get Folder Contents 3) Import Photos into iPhoto (with the delete source option selected).
I placed the Automator app, named "Import to iPhoto" into the Lightroom "Export Actions" folder and selected it in the post-processing drop down in my export preset. When exporting from this preset, the file(s) are exported as expected, however, for some reason the Automator action imports duplicate files into iPhoto for each photo exported. If the photos are exported separately without the post-processing export action, and then the Automator action is run manually, there are no duplicate files imported. Does anybody have any ideas what might be occuring here?

Why can't I Export a folder of DNG's , run a CS3 action and have the output imported and stacked to the original DNG (in the same folder) ... weather it be a PSD or JPG.

  • Help with AppleScript as Export Action

I've been trying to get an AppleScript working as an Export Action in Lightroom 3 on OS X (10.5) without success.
The script (modified from one I found):
    on open theObjects
        repeat with theObject in theObjects
do shell script "/opt/local/bin/mogrify -colorspace Gray " & "'" & (POSIX path of theObject as string) & "'"
        end repeat
    end open
    I've also tried it as:
do shell script "/opt/local/bin/mogrify -colorspace Gray " & (POSIX path of theObject as string)
I've also tried some simpler things just to check if the script is getting called at all, and it doesn't appear to be.  Is there something special I need to do to use an AppleScript as an Export Action?  It's in the correct folder, and the script name comes up as a selection in the drop-down menu when using a custom Post-Processing option.
    Any help or insights appreciated!

  • I am unable to create an Action to Export from .ai to .psd. The OPEN and EXPORT steps in the Action

I am unable to create an Action to Export from .ai to .psd.
The steps in the Action such as Open and Export seem inextricably linked to the file from which the original Action was recorded.
The steps in the Action do not seem to be generalized commands that I can apply to any folder of .ai files.

I'd recommend to exactly describe what you're doing. How did you set up your action? Which settings did you choose in the Batch Process dialog? What exactly went wrong? What did you expect instead?
Whatever issues you're suffering from, there is no way to provide a hasty answer and no way to give an elaborate answer without knowing the details.

  • Export Actions

After processing, I want to export to two external drives in one operation. I'm assuming I can send to the second drive using an Export Action, but I can't figure out how to do this. Anyone?

Make an action in PS that does this, then make droplet of that, put into LR folder, run. Although I'd be inclined to just make a copy of the folder from time to time.

  • 2 different problems using Export Action

I'm using LR 1.1 and Photoshop CS3 on a MacPro and PowerBook. I created an identical Action in PS to use as an Export Action in LR. It was to export .dng files, open them, run Noise Ninja (many were high ISO shots), and some other things.
On one Mac, the files would only open in Adobe Raw Converter, so I'd still have to click to go further for each. With the other, I'd get an error message immediately in Photoshop once the file opened, saying "Feather Command not available". (I had done nothing consciously in creating the Actions (later Droplets) to put in such a command.
My guest teacher, who knows Photoshop (and Lightroom) far better than I, knows of now reason why such a "feather" error would come up.
Any reason why an Action written to be identical except for where the files are ultimately saved should work so differently on 2 Macs (both with OS 10.4.9)? Or how I can cure these problems? I'd love to be able to write more Actions to Droplets I can use as Export Actions from LR. (And some I've written *do* work, just not the last couple...)

I've modified the script so that it now actually works as I want it to (more-or-less).
I will look into using Get-Hotfix instead of WMIC to check that I am happy with the returned data.

  • OSB : How can we copy  actions from one project folder to other projects?

How can we copy actions from one project folder to other projects in OSB?
    For eg:
I have a service call out action in Project1/proxySer1
I want to copy this to Project2/proxySer2.
Espicially, in our case error handling callout is common to all of our projects and we should be able to copy from one to another.

    Thank you for the reply.
It was my fault. I was on two different servers, while i was doing this and so didn't work. But copy /past action works as you suggested.
Can I select multiple actions from one stage and paste to different proxy service? I have too many options to copy/paste and hence I have this question.
Is there any other way of copying all selected actions in one stage to another, but not the complete stage itselft?

But you can proxy it by knowing that, say, a JPEG at 3000 x 3000 at 90% quality will be about 5 Gigs. - example, figures not meant to be accurate. Or a Tiff at 1000 X will be.....

  • Export actions in merchandizing project in bcc 10.1

    Hi,
I was using the export action in a merchandizing project to dowload an xls of my media-internal assets.
It says successfully exported but not say where it has been saved. How to check where my assets have been exported???
Any pointers would be really helpfull.

It will show your browser's file open/save dialog for the generated Excel file and depending on your browser settings file may also get downloaded automatically. Make sure you don't hit ESC to close the success message notification that appears on screen as it can accidentally close the file open/save dialog as well.

  • What 'item type' do I use to add action to SCHEDULER CHAIN folder?

I am using SQL Developer version 3.1.06.82
I would like to add a User Defined Extension to a Scheduler CHAIN. I am looking through the Namespace for Version 3.1 at: http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/sqldeveloper/3_1/dialogs/index.html. Under the COMMON OBJECT TYPES, I do not see any of the Scheduler items. I was able to use <item type="SCHEDULER"> to add an action to the SCHEDULER folder, but what I really want to do is add an action to a CHAIN.
Does anyone know what type name to use??
Has the Namespace been updated and published somewhere else?
If you have an example, it would be greatly appreciated.

Those COMMON OBJECT TYPES are database schema objects so SCHEDULER or CHAIN would not be in those lists.
Did you try "CHAIN" or "SCHEDULER CHAIN"?
I suggest you change your thread subject to match your question and maybe one of the developer team members will notice it.
For example: What 'item type' do I use to add action to SCHEDULER CHAIN folder?

  • Exporting action script in 2nd frame

I have a preloader in frame one so I export frame for classes
in frame two in the publishing settings. I have a scrolling
component in the .fla and when I set up the linkage for the
scrollable movie clip, it exports into the 1st frame. How do I tell
Flash to export action script for component in 2nd frame? Because
of the conflict with the publishing settings set at frame 2, the
scroll bar won't work unless I publish export action script into
    frame one.
    Please help,
    Darryl

Thank you for replying. I was instructed that it is better to
have the action script load in the second frame if my preloader is
in the first frame in order for the page to cache faster on the
users PC. So in the Publish Settings, in the Flash Tab under
Settings, I was informed to "export frame for classes in "2".
The action script for the compenent in the Library only gives
me the choice of it exporting in frame 1. And because they do not
correspond, the scroll bar will not appear unless I change the
Publish settings to export in frame 1 and I will get this error
    message Error opening URL
    "file:///D|/Flash%20Studio%208/nams/scroll".
My goal was to increase the download speed of the Flash page.
Is there a way to get the compenent Action script to export in
Frame 2? The only option box through the Library Linkage is Frame
    1.
    Thank you again for responding,
    Darryl

  • Mogrify 2 in Lightroom 3.4 Export disruption

Windows 7(professional)-8ram 4 core-video ATI 5850 and Windows updates current
Lightroom 3.4 has been VERY slow to load; click the icon and wonder if the shortcut was clicked then it appears.
The Windows updates for May were installed and suddenly the shortcut click produced a response in the regular amount of time... or like any other software started.
I include this update info  because that is the only operating system thing that has been a change. The video board was updated earlier in the month and no aftereffects.
The screen flashing when moving to the export dialog started. This flashing of the Info dialog box used to happen in the previous versions. It had stopped in v3.4
Then the export box is VERY slow to produce text. Finally last night the export action just had Lightroom go into a NOT RESPONDING but I could click on the X and shut off the export dialog box.
One by one I shut off the various plug ins that are enabled and I haven't used and there was no difference. Disabled the mogrify plug in and export was smooth and efficient.
There is a choice in the mogrify to have a text log and I have had that selected but no text log appears on the desktop location.
When the V3.4 was installed the mogrify was gone from the list although it was still on the harddrive. This had me go and find that Imagemagik was updated so I downloaded it and another download of Mogrify. Removed the original and  installed both new downloads and v3.4 used the plug in with no issues.
The export action using Lightroom is fine but I'll miss the extra features that mogrify included if there isn't a solution to get it back and talking nicely to Lightroom.
Is it possible the recent Windows updates put in stuff that messed up the routine with a plug in?
    Rose

I'm replying to my own query.
Steps taken to get Mogrify 2 to operate smoothly in the Export dialog....eliminating Lightroon is not responding.
I updated the video drivers for the ATI Sapphire Radeon 5850.(11.2 which gives a more efficient catalyst manager)
Removed the recent mogrify download and reinstalled it.
The reinstall was placed in the root of the drive F.
I suspected that I had it too many folders deep as a result of unzipping to an existing folder I created. Now it is in its own folder LRmogrify2.irplugin
Listed it in the Antivirus 'ignore list'
Added features to be available one at a time in the Mogrify plug in and did one export at a time (width, then width with size restriction followed by adding a border)
For three to four exports (1 image at a time) as jpg , (Mogrify features 900 wide, restricted to size 120 ) everything was normal. The dialog box popped up  with text completely in view and the NOT RESPONDING did not occur.
Continued on with 3 or 4 more, one at a time and the lag started again. The dialog box takes a couple of seconds  or more as a white box, setion border lines and then slowly the text displays...BUT the 'not responding' did not happen.
I watched what was happening to the CPU with the resource monitor  when the export went into NOT RESPONDING flickering on and off....and all the boxes had the cpu at 100%. The other signal is the Information overlay takes on a black background and starts flashing.
Now after the reinstall and video driver update the Information box just leaves its text overlaying the dialog box but no black background.
BUT the export does occur instead of sitting in the ongoing 'not responding' flicker.
Searching around did not produce anyone having a similar action.
Of course, non of this behaviour happens if I  use the Lightroom export and have mogrify disabled.
So is this sort of thing part of the Lightroom environment and one just accepts that there is almost a 'choking'
