Adding a Lotus Organizer Calander to a document

Aloha
I write a community newsletter. As part of this I keep a calender in Lotus Organizer. How do I add eack month to the monthly newsletter. When I print the calender to a PDF and then place it in the document it looses the fonts? and does not import correctly.
Any Suggestions?

What Bob said, but if you want to get into the details, Pagemaker can only accept an Acrobat 4 pdf (pdf version 1.3) anything newer will confuse it. You also need to make sure that the fonts that you are using in Lotus are embeded in the pdf, not all fonts can be embeded in pdfs. A lot will depend on the software that you are using to print to pdf, Acrobat 4 is about 10 years old and some software may not have the ability to create a pdf with that compatability.

    There is an exisitng Change Document Object - MATERIAL. This is included in Message Type MATMAS. These are the steps we have done:
    1. In SCDO - added the Z structure to the Change Document Object - Material. [Z structure contains the field MKAL-PRFG_F. Change pointer option is checked for this Data element.
    2. Created a Z Message Type with reference as MATMAS.
    3. In BD52 - we have listed the fields for the new Z Message Type created.
    4. The Change Pointers - reactivated after the steps are done.
    The changes to the field MKAL-PRFG_F through C223 Tcode are not recorded in BDCPV table.
    Have we missed any steps here?

    I don't think a new zmessage type is required in this case.. is the structure added to MARA table??The change document programs are there which triggers the iodcs... In SCDO transaction code , click on generation info for MATERIAL.. You will find the includes. The FM MATERIAL_WRITE_DOCUMENT creates entries in CDHDR and CDPOS, if we maintain entries in BD52 , the entries wil be written in BDCP and BDCPS tables.
    Try to add your structure in MARA table as append strucre and then you can debug the IDOC from WE19 and use the FM "MASTERIDOC_CREATE_SMD_MATMAS" and then you also need to switch on Update Debugging on, to debug the changes in update FM   MATERIAL_WRITE_DOCUMENT.
    Please see if the change is reflected or not....

    may be you need to create a new entry in SCDO and do all the ALE configurations for change pointers.

Can't open the document again in FM Author 12 "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel".

    Should both programs be in "Authoring" mode?

    Any suggestions for Calendar and PIM software for migrating from Lotus Organizer?
    Lotus Organizer 6.1 does not support Palm Centro. Palm Desktop is a shell of a program instead. I need a real PIM that I can use.
    And no Outlook isn't much better. I've now experimented with both Palm Desktop and Outlook.
    Key is that they must work with Centro.

    The only app that I know of is called Intellisync (which is now owned by Nokia I think. There's been a lot of company buyouts). This software will let you sync your Palm to just about anything (Outlook, Louts Notes, Novell GroupWise, etc).

    Yes you can -- but you need a 3rd party plug in to sync to Outlook first -- then you sync Outlook with your iPhone.
    I don't believe Microsoft maintains a direct sync relationship with Lotus Organizer anymore without the 3rd party plug in. Do a google search for "sync Lotus Organizer with Outlook" and you will find a batch of programs that will do that.
    Each time you sync your iPhone with Outlook, you will then need to resync your Outlook with Lotus Organizer to keep it up to date - and vice versa. It won't automatically sync everything up.

  • Lotus Organizer and Windows Vista

    I have the new Nokia E75 and I want to synchronize with a PIM on my PC.
    I use now Thunderbird and Lightning but Nokia doesn't support them so I'm looking for a different PIM.
    Outlook only comes in Microsoft Office and it's very expensive (I use Openoffice); Lotus Notes is very expensive too, Windows Contacts is not good, Windows Calendar doesn't synchronize (it's not in the options of Nokia software).
    There's only one more, Lotus Organizer, but in the Lotus site it says 'windows 2000 and windows xp', so no good.
    Anyone have suggestions for a inexpensive PIM?

    We use Lotus Organizer 5.0 (old, I know) at work and I need to be able to sync it with my iPhone 4s, particularly the calendar.  I can sync between the iPhone and Outlook, and I can import from Lotus to Outlook, but I can't get things to go the other direction.  For instance, if I enter an appointment into my phone, I cannot get it to sync back to the Lotus Organizer calendar that I use at work.  I can get it to Outlook, but no further. 
    Is there a way (including upgrading Lotus Organizer) that I can either sync directly from the iPhone to Organizer or that I can get the calendar from Outlook to export to Organizer?

    Nope. Its not possible. The iPad is not a computer., Syncing can only be done through a computer. If your iPhone alread syncs your music through the computer the iPad must do the same.
    Otherwise, if your library is backed up to iCloud you can use that to sync them.
    The best you can do is use home sharing to share the library from one to the other over Wifi  but it will not be synced.  It will just be available as long as they are connected to the same Wifi network.

  • Sync BB Curve with Lotus Organizer 6.1 ?

    How I Got To Where I Am: 
    I've been trying to help my girlfriend set up her new Curve (8330 - Verizon) to sync with Lotus Organizer 6.1.  (System is a Compaq desktop running WinXP Home.)  The supplied version of the Desktop software (4.3) doesn't seem to support Organizer 6.x -- at least it doesn't present Organizer as an option when one tries to configure the PIM synchronization.  (Blackberry/RIM are so stupid to drop compatibility with older software -- how hard is it to continue being able to read and write one more file format?  And although Organizer 6.1 is old, it's still being sold by IBM because people still like it better than any alternative.)
    Reading some forum posts and other materials on this site made it look like version 4.2 of the desktop software DID work with Organizer, so I uninstalled 4.3 and installed 4.2. 
    (Sign of bugginess in 4.3: the "Remove Programs" wizard hung up when uninstalling version 4.3 -- it said it was uninstalling Roxio media software.  What does that have to do with Destop Manager??  Anyway, I had to terminate the program and then wenth through the registry by had deleting references to Blackberry Destop Manager.  After all that, 4.2 was able to install.)
     But now it seems like version 4.2 of the Blackberry Device Manager can't recognize the Curve 8330 -- it reports that no Blackberry device is connected, even though it's plugged into the USB port.
    Questions:
    1.  Is there actually a way to get Desktop Manager 4.3 to work with Lotus Organizer 6.1?  (If it offers Organizer 6.0 that'll work too.)
    2.  If not, does version 4.2 actually work with Organizer 6.1?  If it does, can I run version 4.2 of the Desktop Manager with version 4.3 of the Device Manager?  Where can I download just the Device Manager 4.3 without the Desktop Manager?
    I know after jumping through many hoops I was eventually able to get my office Blackberry talking to Organizer 6.1 there, but it was a LOT harder than it ought to be.  (And I think that was using older versions of the BB software.)

    You were on the right track however, it will not work correctly with versions BB Desktop Manager's that do not include the Organizer conduit built in.
    I used version 4.1.1 with a Curve 8320.
    Basically, when you reached the point where the Curve was not recognized is where the problem lies. The older versions do not have the Curve USB driver as part of the package. I installed 4.3 which had the correct drivers for the 8320. Once installed I copied the usbrim.* files from that installation to a desktop folder.
    Uninstalled 4.3 and loaded Desktop Manager 4.1.1. Once installed I copied the usbrim.* drivers from the desktop folder to their original locations. Open up Desktop Manager and found the device.
    You were close. I haven't tried this with 4.2 but, do know that it works with 4.1.

    This may well be an FAQ, but I've upgraded my desktop manager from 4.2 to 4.7 and seem to have lost the ability to sync with Lotus Organiser.  Has it bee nremoved - can you tell which is the last version that _does_ sync with LO6?

    Lotus Organizer 6.0/6.1 was only supported until the 4.2 version you were on.

  • What are the drawbacks to adding a Site Content Type to the Document Site Column?

    I have a client who has enough SharePoint knowledge to be dangerous.
    They are requesting that a Column be added to all Document Libraries everywhere.  We built a solution that would require a bit of work when a Site Collection is created, and it would require that we run a script to identify if there are any Libraries
    that do not have this Column attached.
    This client wants to know why we didn't just add this Column to the default Document Site Content Type.  I don't know specifics as to why that's not a good idea, just that it's not a good idea.
    Can anyone point me to a resource that identifies the reasons why this is not recommended?

    I'd say there's a risk that patches or upgrades could be affected by this, or overwrite the change.
    In the past I've derived a Company specific Document Content Type from the Base Document CT, and added any new company wide columns to that new CT.

  • Adding pages in Acrobat 9 Pro (secured document)

    I am about to switch to a new computer. The old one had Acrobat 8 Professional and the new one has Acrobat 9 Pro.
    I produce a certain kind of files where, after I have printed it to a pdf, I take a copy of the pdf. One of the files I leave as it is, the other one (with a slight namechange, I add a blank page to every other page.
    This is how I did it in Acrobat 8:
    Open the file
    Change the security setting (temporarily remove it so I can add pages, when I close the file the security is automatically turned on again)
    Click on Pages/Options/Insert page
    Go to the place where I have my one blank page (with no security added)
    Insert it after page 1
    Ctrl-click and drag so I copy the page to every other page.
    Save and close
    When I try to do this in 9 the following happens:
    First when I go to Pages/Options/Insert page I have to choose "from file". Irritating with extra more step, but I can live with that.
    I add the empty page after page 1 and then try to ctrl-click and drag, but it doesn't work. I get an error message that I will try to translate (I am Swedish):
    "Pages retrieved from a secured file looses its security settings. Do you want to continue?"
    What is this? I have temporarily removed the security settings (Secure/Show security properties/Change Settings/fill in password/OK/Cancel) just as it says in the help file. If I the click on Secure, all is permitted. When I save and exit and reopen that file, the security is there again.
    As it is temporarily without security this should work as in Acrobat 8!!
    I now have 2 options:
    1. Add the empty page after every other page manually (Insert page instead of copying the one I already inserted)
    or
    2. Permanently remove the security and then remember to turn it on (lots of steps) before I save the file.
    The files are usually about 20 pages, so I have to do step 1 10 times.... I usually do about 15-20 of these files at one time, so this is a problem that will be very time consuming for me.
    Could someone please tell me what's happening and maybe give me an idea about a way to work around it?

    The reason every other page must be blank is because the files are start-up reports for climate control units, that the technician has to fill in. We print it as a book and as every other page is blank, only the right hand pages are printed. Then the technician can have the report on a hard board and easily fill in/go to the next page. I have done this exactly the same way since Acrobat 5, and I have done it this way for so long time now that I am afraid I will forget to turn it on again one I have turned it off...
    The reason why I don't make the document with blank pages from the beginning is that the report must be in 2 versions; one with the empty pages for us to print when a customer buys a unit, and one without that we have on our web-site, for the customers to download. Also, I have about 1.000 of these reports so adding a lot of blank pages in FrameMaker (where I make them) is a time-consuming job. Better to add the pages after I have produced the pdf, then I don't need double FM-files (and don't need to change in 2 documents when I have to change something).

  • Can I get the summary of added and deleted words in two compared documents in Acrobat Pro XI as it was in Pro 6?

    I want to be able to estimate the amount of words that change from one document to another. I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI to compare two documents. The summary says "Differences exist between documents" and lists the amount of pages in each one. Then it goes on to the report and highlights insertions and deletions.
    I would like a more informative summary. Previously, in Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.0 (I don't really know after that), the summary I got after comparing two documents contained how many words had been added and how many words had been deleted.
    I have checked the configuration of the new Acrobat but I have not been able to find the same functionality. Is there something I am missing? Is this feature not supported anymore?
    If so, is there a workaround? I have been looking into using JavaScript but I cannot access properties of words that the program highlights as having changed. Thank you very much for any insight you may have.

    OCR is only for recoginition of the image / picture of text provided by an scanner.
    Content typed into a Word file which is converted to a PDF is (in Word and in PDF) *not* an image  or picture of text - it is the digital text. So, no OCR involved.
    When the "digital" (renderable) text of a PDF's page content is exported to Word no OCR is involved.
    When a PDF's content is from the image output of a scanner and this is a picture of text then OCR comes into play.
    If this content is exported to Word before doing OCR then it is the image that is exported to the Word file.
    Once OCR is performed it is the OCR output that is exported.
    OCR output is (always will be) impacted by "the quality of the OCR and the scans of the documents". 
    Regardless "Compare" is based on a Word file output to PDF1 then edits to the Word file followed by an output to PDF2. You use Acrobat Pro to do a compare of PDF1 & PDF2.
    Paper 1 scanned to image 1 to image 1 in PDF1 that gets OCR 1 and
    Paper 2 scanned to image 2 to image 2 in PDF2 that gets OCR 2
    being processed with Acrobat Pro's Compare can certainly be done.
    But - well you've described what can be observed.
