Adding a new Airport express N to an older system with Airport express b/g

I have the following setup:
iMac with OS X 10.4.11
Airport Express with 802.11b/g software V6.3(used only for airtunes- with wired speakers)
Airport Admin. Utility V4.2
Older style airport extreme base station for internet access
I'd like to add another pair of wired speakers in another room via a second Airport express, but am wondering if I can mix and match the 2 "vintage" expresses?
Will my current version of Airport Admin Utility be able to setup the new airport? If not, will the updated utility recognize my older systems?
Any thoughts or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Sointly, Ollie! (Think Laurel & Hardy) I currently have three fairly ancient AX's that worked just fine on the first gen Extreme, then moved over to Time Capsule (still on B/G speeds, working OK). Also, three USB printers and a 500 GB Seagate USB. Sometimes, the smallest printer, iP90, gets moved around to another AX or a laptop. Each of the Expresses is supplying an independent set of speakers which can be assigned to any source (my wife likes to have her laptop in the bedroom with her own sounds and her own printer). With the coming of Remote on the iPhone, the whole setup can be changed at will.
Can you use Airport Utility ver 5.3.2? Or move up to Leopard? Much easier to use.....

I have 2 1st Gen AirPort Express stations. I have my original AirPort wired into my modem with an ethernet cable and it works fine. I have my new AirPort plugged, well within range of the network but it doesn't show up in AirPort Utility making it impossible for me to extend the network.
All of the previous forums I've seen say to reset both routers and "set up manually" and select the box that says "allow this network to be extended". When I go to setup there is no option for either of these.

You are looking at instructions that apply to Snow Leopard and earlier operating sysems. You are using Lion or Mountain Lion.
Hold in the reset button on the Express that you want to use to extend for 9-10 seconds and release.
Close AirPort Utility if if it open.
As edex67 notes above, click the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of the screen and look for a listing of New AirPort Base Station. Just below that, click directly on AirPort Express.
AirPort Setup will open automatically and take a minute to analyze the network, then tell you that the Express will be configured to "extend" the network.
Enter a device name that you want to use for the Express and click Next
AirPort Setup will take a minute to configure things. When you see the message of Setup Complete, click Done.
You are done, other than locating the Express approximately half way between your "main" Express and the area that needs more wireless coverage.

Hi, it can but i have lots of problems because my mac keeps switching between the express and the extreme. This causes that my connection goes every time down and i have to switch off my airport (in my mac) off and on again.

After downloading firmware for airport utility, airport express base station no longer registers with airport utility on my Mac. Now the base station is blinking amber with no info of what is causing all this to happen. Any suggestions?

There are only a couple of things you can do to resuscitate a nonresponsive Express:
"Hard reset":
Press and hold the reset button with a pen or pencil until you see the status light (LED) start to flash amber rapidly, which should occur after about five seconds.
If that does not work,
"Factory defaults reset":
Unplug the Express from power.
Press and hold the reset button with a pen or pencil, then plug the Express back in while continuing to hold the button until you see the light (LED) flash rapidly. This should happen after a few seconds.
Release the button.
In either case you will have to reconfigure the Express as a new device. A moment or two after it has been reset, the LED should be blinking slowly. It must then appear in your Wi-Fi menu like this:
Earlier versions of OS X will report it as "Apple Network nnnnnn".
In either case, select it, and then launch AirPort Utility.
If it does no appear in your Wi-Fi menu after it has been reset using one of the two techniques above, it is defective. Other than attempting another reset, there is nothing you can do.

Will adding a new OEM Windows 8 license to the system replace and free the current OEM license?

I have computer (computer A) with a Windows 8 Standard OEM license. I would like this computer to run Windows 8 Pro OEM, and move the Standard license to another computer (computer B).
Correct me if I'm wrong (and please confirm if I'm right), but as far as I've understood it the OEM licenses have changed from Windows 7 to Windows 8, and on Windows 8 they are no longer tied to the hardware. Therefore, I assume the license doesn't need the
manufacturer's special disc or recovery drive to install. (This is not really an issue, since I have the DVD anyway.) The Windows 8 license should thus be free to move around, as long as it's only installed on one computer at the time and is activated online.
There should therefor be unproblematic to move the Windows 8 Standard license from computer A to computer B, so that I can install Windows 8 Pro on computer A. If this is true, could I just buy a Pro license, go to Control Panel on computer A and add this license
with "Add features to Windows 8.1"? Will this Pro license then replace my Standard license, or will they co-exist somehow? Will the Standard license be free so that it can be moved to comptuer B after I have added a Pro license? I would rather avoid
formatting computer A, but I will format computer B.

I'm not aware that OEM-supplied/attached licenses are now able to be moved. Can you provide a reference for that theory?
OEM SB (System Builder) licenses, if you are building for yourself (i.e. not building to resell), *DO* allow transfer

So, here's how I understand it:
a) if you build your own computer, and purchase an OEM SB for that computer, for your own personal use, that license can be transferred to another computer.
b) if you buy a computer which is already built and has Windows OEM attached, this Windows license cannot be transferred to another computer

Older Macs with Airport cards (pre-extreme): will they work at all?

I have three Macs, only one with the extreme card (current MBP C2D). I've been using an old Airport Base Station and have been thinking I should upgrade it but am wondering if I do so, whether my other two computers will not pick up any signal. Obviously the two older Macs will not house the extreme cards, although I suspect they would not be shut out of a signal, however compromised, but would they be shut out of the wireless in the case of the new base station, with the 802.11n vs. 802.11g?

Using An Older PowerMac With Airport?

I own one of the first G4 Powermacs: a Yikes G4/450. I would like to incorporate it into my airport network if possible. What is the best/least expensive solution to achieve this? Is it possible to plug an airport extreme card into this model somewhere or would I need to find some kind of PCI card to achieve this?

You take a bit of a risk with this approach. Manufacturers regularly change hardware and firmware on these cards - so a driver that works with one version of the card may not work with another version of the same model card. Sometimes the driver works with one MacOS version, but then "breaks" when Apple releases a MacOS software update.

yes.. iPhone and iPad and maybe Explorer for other platforms (not sure what everything SAP produced) would be nice bonus.
All PC users would get Explorer experience from their PC.
Somehow I think that this would be nice logical way how to make people familiar with using these technologies and how to make demo "without making demo".

What else do I need to configure my wireless with AirPort Express?

This is what I have. iMac PowerPC G4 (2.1) without Airport Card, AirPort Express and a couple of laptops with Airport capability. Is there any way to configure wireless for all computers with what I have?

Would that be an AirPort card?
If the clock speed of your iMac G4 is 700 or 800 MHz, it is ONLY compatible with the original 802.11b AirPort card. It is NOT compatible with the AirPort Extreme card.
If the clock speed of your iMac G4 is 1 GHz or&greater, it is ONLY compatible with the AirPort Extreme card. It is NOT compatible with the original AirPort card.
If you need the AirPort Extreme card, it is still made and sold by Apple.
If you need the original AirPort card, Macsolutions.com seems to have some.

If you have a look at page 15 of the Setup Guide for Airport Express, available at http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/AirPortExpressSetupGuide.pdf - it shows the connections it can be made to plug into.
Every hi-fi system I've seen has stereo RCA jacks (red and white plugs) on the back for accepting auxiliary inputs. You'll just need to get the appropriate cable from your supplier of choice. If you system is more modern, using fibre optic cabling may be a better option (avoids ground loops, avoids multiple analog/digital conversions, etc).
You can only use iTunes to send sound to the Airport Express, unless you get a third party application like AirFoil (from http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/ ), so technically "what I like" would need to be restricted to that which you had in iTunes, but basically, yes.

Loosing and slow connection with Airport Extreme

Hi. Before I start, I hope there are some who suffer the same problem as me.
First of all, I have a problem with my MacBook and Airport Extreme. The Network I created with Airport is getting really slow or unconnected with my MacBook. So I tried to reset both the modem and Airport. Actually, it kinda works, however this problem occurs later.
First time I thought it was the problem with uTorrent that I didn't use uTorrent anymore but it still has a problem.
Because of this **** problem, I have to reset my modem and Airport Extreme several times a day and it really stressed me out. Embarrasingly, I don't even know what the problem is. is ti the problem with My macBook? AirPort Extreme? Modem? No idea..
I need a help...
P.S. Modem seems working fine since the ethernet is working fine. maybe problem of Airport or MacBook. I think I should go to the Genius Bar but I am afraid that 'Genius' is going to just check once and say 'It has no problem.'

Does your Wife use the Outlook Express address book called Windows Contacts for storing contact info?
If so and your Wife wants to sync her iPhone's address book with the address book used by Outlook Express, this is selected under the Info tab for her iPhone sync preferences. If the address book used by Outlook Express includes contacts and her iPhone does not include any contact info, the contacts in the address book used by Outlook Express will be transferred to her iPhone. If her iPhone's address book includes contacts, the first time she syncs her iPhone with the address book used by Outlook Express, she will be provided a merge prompt, which she wants to select.
If she doesn't currently use the address book that is used by OE, she needs to enter one unique contact in the address book on the computer before syncing contacts. Make the contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt.
