Adding a new system to existing ChaRM Project

Hi,
We have configured Charm in our landscape and we use Solution Manager 7.1 SP08.
Requirements:
Add a new system to the existing ChaRM Project.
Edit the logical components for e.g. To replace current SID (QA1) with another SID (QA2)
Add items (Systems or Tasks)to the existing task list
We faced problems (duplicate record dumps), while configuring as per our requirements above. SAP suggested us to
Close the Project and create a new one to include a new system. [This is not feasible for us]
Close the current maintenance cycle and create a new one if you want to edit the logical systems or to add any task or system to the existing task list.
So we have the following questions
What is the impact on closing the current maintenance cycle? We have half of transports in released and half in locked status.What happens to the transports that are not yet released?
Will they automatically get released or
Will they not get impacted or
Will they get assigned to the new maintenance cycle automatically or
Do we need to do it manually or does it not matter
Since we are close to starting our ITC, how do we go about that? How will we bundle our transports for our ITC with different maintenance cycles holding transports
What is the impact on locking a maintenance cycle?
What is the impact on project team members on creating a new maintenance cycle?
How does the maintenance cycle get impacted if we refresh existing systems?
Have you faced a similar problem? Is there an alternate solution?
If we need to add a new development system to the Project do we need to close the current project or just add it to a new maintenance cycle?
Reporting
How do we run a report for stats by Maintenance cycle
--> System --> Transport released
--> System --> Transports created (not released)
How does reporting get impacted if we make the changes stated above

So we have the following questions

We have half of transports in released and half in locked status. - dont close the MC with out proper TR movement in PRD. it will make the system inconsistency. if it is released TR not able to unassigned from MC . this feature available from SP10. What happens to the transports that are not yet released?
Will they automatically get released or - no
Will they not get impacted or - make solman inconsistency
Will they get assigned to the new maintenance cycle automatically or- if not released from DEv, it needs to assign manually from one MC to other MC

    It is possible, But not recommended. Better if you have solution like...
    DEV-->QAS1-->QAS2-->PRD
    But it is possible by using transport groups. There are lots of posts aleady regarding this.

  • Problem adding a new field to existing BPS planning layout

    I am new to BPS and planning
    I have a requirement to add a new field which has values maintained as 0 and 1 to an existing planning cube.The user wants this new field in the existing planning layout where in he can enter the values for this field as 0 or 1.I have created a new field and maintained values for this field as 0 and 1.I have added this field to the existing planning area and have created variable with fixed value with range 0 to1.I have added the same in selections in existing planning level and package as well along with other existing selection conditions.
    In additional functions of adhoc package they have made setting as set to all possible char combination.
    In this planning area all the selections are locked in planning level and package.
    Now when i execute the planning layout to enter data,my new field is grayed out,it does not allow me to enter the values.need help  with this as to how can i make this field input enabled.This is an independent characteristic.

  • Change Pointers - adding a new field to existing Change Document

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to capture the changes made to the Material object through the transaction C223. The changes to field MKAL-PRFG_F have to be captured.
    There is an exisitng Change Document Object - MATERIAL. This is included in Message Type MATMAS. These are the steps we have done:
    1. In SCDO - added the Z structure to the Change Document Object - Material. [Z structure contains the field MKAL-PRFG_F. Change pointer option is checked for this Data element.
    2. Created a Z Message Type with reference as MATMAS.
    3. In BD52 - we have listed the fields for the new Z Message Type created.
    4. The Change Pointers - reactivated after the steps are done.
    The changes to the field MKAL-PRFG_F through C223 Tcode are not recorded in BDCPV table.
    Have we missed any steps here?

    HI,
    I don't think a new zmessage type is required in this case.. is the structure added to MARA table??The change document programs are there which triggers the iodcs... In SCDO transaction code , click on generation info for MATERIAL.. You will find the includes. The FM MATERIAL_WRITE_DOCUMENT creates entries in CDHDR and CDPOS, if we maintain entries in BD52 , the entries wil be written in BDCP and BDCPS tables.
    Try to add your structure in MARA table as append strucre and then you can debug the IDOC from WE19 and use the FM "MASTERIDOC_CREATE_SMD_MATMAS" and then you also need to switch on Update Debugging on, to debug the changes in update FM   MATERIAL_WRITE_DOCUMENT.
    Please see if the change is reflected or not....

    may be you need to create a new entry in SCDO and do all the ALE configurations for change pointers.

  • Adding a new field in existing  Genric Func Module extractor

    Hi,
      I have created a  generic data source of type 'Transaction'  with Function module and it was working fine and loading data into ODS succesffuly . Recently I needed to add one field.
      I have enhanced the function module and the extract structure accordingly. However I am not sure what next to do to have that new field visible in the data source.
      I went to transaction SBIW --> Maintain Generic data source   in change mode. However I am not able to see the newly added field in there.
      Need help.

    Hi,
    Just check the ROOSFIELD table in se11 for your datasource. Possibly the newly added field is hidden.  You can execute this code and the field would appear in RSO2.
    tables ROOSFIELD.
    update ROOSFIELD set SELECTION = 'X' where
    Datasource = ' <Data source>'
    and field = '<your field>'.
    This would make the field appear in RSO2/RSA6.

    Gurus ,
       currently our landscape is a 3 system landscape . We are SAP BUSINESS SUITE users  . we are using ECC 6.0 on AIX with AS ABAP .
       we are planning for one sand box system on AIX with both AS ABAP and AS JAVA . but we  have certain confusions and lack of clarity on certain portions . hope over which you all can throw light ,
       - Will there be any difference in license info for using ECC with AS ABAP (or) ECC with AS ABAP + JAVA .
      -  would be able to add this system to our transport domain without including the system in solution manager
    - can we make clinet copies from a ECC system with ABAP alone to a ECC system with ABAP +JAVA
    - How to get more clarity on the license perspective of adding this system 
    please guide us

    According to me there is not any differences in license, when you apply for the license you have to select the system as ABAP+JAVA and i dont think that you need to install any license for java in ECC

    Yes if Solution manager is not your domain controller. You can add the system into your domain, For the transport between 2 system is the requriement is that both system should be same relase with Same ABAP support pack and Kernel (as per my understnading).

    This is think might not be possible but not sure for this, becuase there must be some ddic difference in both system.
    Please correct me if i am wrong.

    Hi Gurus,
    I am trying to add one sandbox system to my present landscape
    configure TMS for four systems, out of which two systems (DEV1 and DEV2) are with same SID (DEV). As recommended by SAP, I understand that there can not be two systems with same SID in a transport domain.
    and also my domain controller is DEV system,
    please suggest how can i add DEV sand box in this landscape

    Hi,
    Yes, you can do that. Once cofiles and data files are generated after transport request is released in Quality system, you can import them into Sandbox system by manually adding them into import buffer.
    If Sandbox system does not have common /usr/sap/trans, you have to manually copy those cofiles and data files from Quality to Sandbox /usr/sap/trans/cofiles and .../data and add the request to import buffer of Sandbox system from either STMS or OS level using tp addtobuffer command.
    Please make sure STMS is configured in Sandbox system as local domain before you perform above said steps.

    Really?!  I didn't know that made a difference...I thought secondary lines were $25 - well, ya learn something new every day!
    And a side note - we added a line for my 75+ yr old mother with one of our old flip phones and CS was extremely kind in waiving the activation fee (I could have sworn it was $25 charged and credited on the bill), PLUS they boxed up the flip phone after activating it (with an out of state number to boot) and shipped it to my Mom, all at no additional cost to me.  I'm not saying that will be everyone's experience, and I was amazed the service rep offered to ship it for me - but I smiled and said "THANK YOU!" and accepted it!

    I have created PO through Import Standard Purchase Order and now client requires to add more line into existing approved PO which has been migrated through interface table.So,I wanted to know what necessary steps I need to follow for adding lines into existing purachse order.I tried to update action column as 'ADD' in po_headers_interface table but everytime records is being rejectd.
    Please help me if anybody knows the solution.

    you want to do change PO, if it is the case, oracle has provided public APIs to do the changes. for details you can refer manufacturing api's and po interface tables pdf docs.

  • EIS - Adding a new parent for existing 2 members

    Hi All,
    I have an existing model and a metaoutline in my EIS. Which is getting built using a star schema from my oracle relational database.
    In my dimension in question - I need to make a small change.
    There are 2 members named "X" and "Y" - I need to make the change in the outline such that I have to introduce a new member "Z".
    This new member "Z" would become the parent of "X" and "Y".
    X and Y wud simply roll up to Z and Z wud roll up with other members to the Dimension.
    I don't want to make any changes in the database(oracle) - how do i go abt it in EIS? Any idea? hints?

    Yes, I've tried to use the 'Add member as child' and 'Add member as sibling'(manually as u said) in the EIS to add the new member "Z".
    But it does not allow me to add the member at the lower generations (need to add at generation4 in my case ). The options get disabled when I select the gen2 or gen3 in the meta outline in EIS.
    I'm only able to 'Add Member as child or sibling' at the higher level - i.e. at the dimension level.
    Any idea how do i proceed now?

    Go to SM37,  go to the "released" version of your job. I assume that it is a periodic job, hence there should be a released version of it.  select it and click from the menu,  Job--->Change.   Click the Steps button from the appliation tool bar,  now click the create button.  Enter the name of the abap program,  click check, and save.  That's it.

  • RZ21 - ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED when adding a new system

    HI,
    I installed saphostagent on a sateliete system (Linux suse 10 with Oracle 11) to be able to monitor the system with our SolutionManager.
    Our Solution Manager is on 7.01 EHP1 support pack 8.(WIndows 2003 with SQLserver 2005)
    When I try to add the system to be monitored in Solution Manager with transaction RZ21 I get an error.
    In RZ21 : --> technical infrastructure --> configure central system --> create remote monitoring entry
    I fill in all the details, and when I save, I get the following error message:
    SOAP:1.023 SRT: Processing error in Internet Communication Framework: ("ICF Error when receiving the response: ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED")"
    I found SAPnote 1450589, which descibes the error, but unfortunately our system is already on the mentioned support pack in this note, so this note is not applicable for us.
    Does anyone got an idea on what can be causing this error?

    ICF errors nt the program errors, it is just the connection failure errors,
    please check the RFC for the managed system which you maintained in the remote monitoring entry in RZ21.
    please correct that RFC connection, it could be any reason,check this too

  • Adding a new field to Existing data Datasource

    If  I want to add extra field to the existence Data Source in SAP R/3 how will you do? and how will you extract the data in SAP BW .could you please explain the steps. I would appreciate.

    1)Go to RSA6 and find the data source you need to enhance.--> Display
    2)Double click  on the Extract structure.
    3)Now click on the append structure button to add the required field on to the existing structure.
    4) add your required fields with ZZ appended to your field.
    5) Save & Activate the append structure. Then go back and make sure you activate the extract structure also.
    6) Now again go back to RSA6 and select your Data Source. But this time go to change Data Source to remove the hide option to the enhanced fields. By default they’ll be in hide mode. If you don’t remove the hide field then this field will not be seen in BW side.
    7) Now go to SE38 to write the logic to populate the data into the enhanced field. Program name to write the logic is ZXRSAU01.
    8) Check + Save + Activate.
    9) Check in RSA3 if data is populated as per your requirement.
    10) Replicate your Data Source.
    11) Now go to Data Source/ Trans. Structure screen. Now you can see the enhanced field on the right hand side.
