Adding a Query to a Role

Hi gurus
Can anyone please let me know how to add a query to a role in Bw 3.x.

Hi Rajat,
In the Query Designer tool bar, you will see Create, Open, save, save as, delete and Publlish Icon.Next to the publish Icon, you will see downward arrow. If you click that, then it will show Publish in Role, Publish in portal/.If you click 'publish In Portal' then it will show you roles available and choose the role and save it.
Or else you can even do in PFCG.
In PFCG, give the role and choose change.
Goto Menu tab. Choose the folder under which you want to save your query, select insert report option and give your report name.
Hope it helps you. Assign points if it helps you.

Yokesh

  • Authorizations for Publishing a Query in a Role

    Gurus,
I have S_USER_AGR (activity as: 01, 02, 03 06, 78)  and S_RS_TOOLS as webpublish and Themes...but my users are not able to Publish a Query to a Role from Query Designer in a Edit mode, but they were able to add the Query to a Role using "Enter in Role" button from BEx pop up screen...what Authorizations I am missing in my role?
And also in QA and Production how can the Power Users can publish a Query or a Wrk book to a Role without editing a Query or Work book?
Can some one share their thoughts..
    Thanks,
    KK

    Hi,
I also facing same issue in Query designer. Unable to publish the roles in query designer. It is showing no roles assigned to you error mesg. I have added this object and given the * values. Then the problem is solved.
Please user s_user_agr object with activity * and values *. They will get access to publish to roles, portals and broadcasting in query designer.

  • Which authorizations are required for assigning a query to a role?

    Hi everybody,
we try to set up some roles for "reporting power users". These guys should be alble to define new queries using BEx (works fine) and also should be able to assign these new defined queries to a role, so other users can use these roles.
The idea is simple, but we're searching for the right authorization object (or - as i suppose - set of authorization objects) that enables the user to assign a query to a role (using that "enter to a role" button in the open / save dialog).
At the moment, the user can user that button, and the role, he should the query assigned to is shown. After selecting the role and clicking button "create" it take some seconds and a message "error when saving. entry has not been created" is shown.
Obviously, there is a problem with writing the role (or adding the new information to that role).
So, could anyone help me and provide me with a list of authorization objects that are required.
    Thanks in advance,
      Alfred

    S_RFC
    S_TCODE
    S_USER_GRP
    S_BDS_D
    S_OD_SEND
    S_RS_AUTH
    S_RS_BCS
    S_RS_COMP
    S_RS_COMP1
    S_RS_FOLD
    S_RS_ICUBE
    S_RS_MPRO
The above mentioned authorization objects are enough to add in the role and required for the accessing a query.
particularly, S_RS_COMP, S_RS_COMP1, S_RS_MPRO, S_RS_ICUBE are the most important auth objects which are directly getting involved in authorization of a query in a role.
SO, you have to assign the respective info area, info cube and info providers names in these auth objects.
The same scenario , i am using in my project to give access to the queries in all the areas for my end users.
The values and access/authorizations restrictions is up to your project requirement.
    Hope this would help you.

  • How to enter a query into a role

    Hello Everyone,
We are starting to look at the new analyzer.  We cannot find how to Enter a query in a role.  In the old analyzer there was a button called this.  Where is it in the new analyzer?  How to you enter and assign a query to a role?
    Thanks so much!

    Hi,
We have a new concept of authorization where you are no more suppose to assign the query to the role from business explorer.
I am not sure if you have gone through this but see this link a it explains about the new authorization concept that is analysys authorization.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/be/076f3b6c980c3be10000000a11402f/content.htm
Now we have to create authorization object and use existing SAP autorization objects to assign authorizations...
Also you use advanced search for searching new authorization concept in BI...this will give you plenty of links for it.
    Thanks

  • Best Practice for BEX Query "PUBLISH to ROLE"?

    Hello.
We are trying to determine the best practice for publishing BEX queries/views/workbooks to ROLEs.
To be clear of the process I am referring: from the BEX Query Designer, there is an option QUERY>PUBLISH>TO ROLE.  This function updates the user menu of the selected security role with essentially a shortcut to the BEX query.  It is also possible to save VIEWS/WORKBOOKS to a role from the BEX Analyzer menu.  We have found ROLE menus to be a good way to organize BEX queries/views/workbooks for our users.
Our dilemma is whether to publish to the role in our DEV system and transport to PROD,... or if it is ok to publish to the role directly in the PROD system.
Publishing in DEV is not always possible, as we have objects in PROD that do not exist in DEV. For example, we allow power users to create queries directly in PROD.  We also allow VIEWS and WORKBOOKS to be created directly in PROD.  It would not be possible to publish types of objects in DEV.
Publishing in PROD eliminates the issues above, but causes concerns for our SECURITY team.  We would be able to maintain these special roles directly in PROD.
Would appreciate any ideas, suggestions, examples of how others are handling this BEX publish-to-role process.
    Thank you.
    -Joel

    Hi Joel,
Again as per the Best Practices.Nothing to be created in PRD,even if we create them in PRD for Power users its assumed as temprory and can be deleted at any time.
So if there are already deviations then you can go for deviations in this case as well but it wont be the Best Practice. Also in few cases we have workbooks created in PRD as they cud nt be created in DEV due to various reasons...in such cases we did not think of Best Practice ,we had a raised an OSS on this aswell.
In our Project,we have done everything in DEV and transported to PRD,in case there were any very Minor changes at query level we have done in PRD and immedialtely replicated the same in DEV so that they are in SYNC.

  • Field "Location of Linked Object" missing after adding a page to a role

I am using EP5 (5.06.01.00). After adding a page to a role, the properties of the page in the role no longer include the field "Location of Linked Object". The properties now only consist of two fields: "Name" and "Location". They used to contain a third field "Location of Linked Object", in fact, in older roles the page properties still contain this field. However, when I now add pages to a role or workset, this third property field "Location of Linked Object" is not there. - I am adding the page by clicking the "Add" button to move a page from the "View" area to the role in the "Edit" area. - I have been observing this symptom for several months, but I can not identify any configuration changes or upgrades which would have caused this behavior.
All hints will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

  • Inclusion of query in the role?

    Hi,
i had created a new query , which does not have any role so far!
Now i was asked to include this query in a role! But when i check role button in query designer it says :"you are not assigned to any role"
What can be done to include the new query in the role given to me?
    Many Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hai Ravi,
To assign a query you need to have a role ,to have role  you need to have a separate user name with u r profile, so first find out whether u r assigned with one single user and that should be assigned with some roles ..if u dont have a role  ask u r basis consultant to create role ,so that u can assign queries to a role.
    i hope it will help u ,...
for more clear information...say whether u r running u r system in real environment or not ,if not u can directly create a role, username also  by urself...
reply me if u have more quires ok.

  • Regarding publishing query inside a role in pfcg

    Hello All..
I currenlty  created a role in pfcg in BW system,.
In role I have assigned object S_RS_COMP,S_RS_COMP1...
In BEX Analyzer,i then published a query to that role.
After publishing the same , i was able to see query in the role.
I assigned this role to the user.
When user tries to execute the query, the web browser opens up.
Can u pls let me know why this is happening...
    Regards
    Ajit

    Ajit,
The Internet Graphics Server (IGS) is a Server-based engine for generating graphical and non-graphical content
Without this properly installed, the web content will can not be displayed.
BW_IGS_CHART_TEST is a program which tells if IGS is installed properly or not.
Please check the path of the query.
Also note that using this link you can only access the web query and not BEx query.
For BEx query you'll have to type RRMX and proceed. Double clicking on the link would only open the web page and not BEx.
    Hope that helped.

  • How to unassign query from a role

    Hi All,
I have wrongly published a query in a role through query designer 2 times. Can you pls suggest how to unassign the query from that role, Your quick response will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sananda

Use Tcode PFCG and there you can delete th query from the role. Then the query gets deleted only from that role view. Then you can assign it to the new role.

  • Assign Query to a Role

I have a query existing in my system.
But this is not assigned to any role.
How to assign this query to a role?
Edited by: BICoolguy on Mar 30, 2010 1:46 PM

When you click SAVE, you can select a role (based in BI system) where you want to save the query.
If you're talking about roles in the portal, then you need to publish the query in a template, and then publish that template as an iview, which can then be linked to the portal role.

  • Delete query names from roles and favorites

I deleted some of the queries in production using RSZDELETE but didn't delete those objects from roles and favorites. As the delete option is disabled in query dsigner and bex analyzer, I m looking for other ways to delete the query names from roles and favorites folders

PFCG is surely one of the ways to delete queries assigned to a role. But i doubt you might have access to tat tcode in production.
If you are looking towards deleting the queries from roles and favorites using Bex analyzer, you need specific authorizations. If you have those authorizations you can surely delete the queries from roles and favorites using Bex analyzer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Re: Bex query assigment to Role

    Hi All,
How to assign a query to user role.
We will do that directly in production right?
    Regards,
    Anand.

    Hi,
You may do that in production or transport the same from dev to prod (depende on your landscape).
You just need to go to anlyzer and add/publish the same in user role. You may check the same pfcg tcode.
    I hope it will help.
