Adding a REMINDER LIST

i am having a hard time figuring out how to add a new REMINDER LIST on my phone.
i can easily add an entry in a REMINDER LIST but how do i create a new list on the phone?

Notes and Reminders are separate, but similar applies.
You can create a note stored locally on your iPhone only with ON MY IPHONE selected for the account with notes, or you can create a note with your iCloud account with iCloud selected for the account with notes to be synced and available with another iOS device accessing the same iCloud account and on your Mac or PC. I always have my iCloud account selected for the account with notes. If you don't want to create any notes stored locally on your iPhone - no ON MY IPHONE notes and there are none anyway, leave your iCloud selected for the account with Notes. There is no reason for you to ever go to accounts for Notes.
For Reminders, there is a default account selection or List selection at Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Reminders > Default List. Or if you have multiple lists and always want to create a reminder with your iCloud account, create a reminder with your iCloud account list selected.
I access my company Exchange account on my iPhone in addition to my iCloud account. I can create a reminder with my Exchange account list that will be available with Outlook on my PC at work, or I can create a reminder with my iCloud account list, or I can create a reminder with my On My iPhone list which will be available on my iPhone only if wanted or needed.
You asked how to create a new Reminder List. You can create a new reminder list under your iCloud account per the info I provided making it available on the rest of your iOS devices accessing the same iCloud account.
There is no bug here, just options and you not knowing how to make use of the available options.

Get Siri to set location reminders (using multiple reminder lists)

I found a way to get Siri to set location reminders using multiple reminder lists (but you can just use one list too):
First make additional lists in the reminder app: click list button (the lines on the left) > edit > create new list > done. Make as many as you want. I have grocery, home, personal, business, family.
Let's say you want a reminder to pick up apples when you get to the apple store. You must add the location in your contacts to your name in contacts.
Do the following:
In maps app find the location with search.
Tap the blue arrow > Add to contacts > Add to existing contact
Choose your name in contacts. It will be added under your address for home or work so you will need to edit it:
Click Edit.
Click on the small label on the left of the new address - it will just say "address"
Scroll to bottom of page and click on Create custom label
Enter the location name like "Apple Store". Click Done.
Important Note: You will need to delete the url it adds under your home url section and maybe other things it messes up with the new contact info instead of yours - so check all the fields each time you do this.
To make a location based reminder using a specific list you must open that list yourself - Siri will not open it for you.
Example:
Open grocery list yourself in the reminders app
Tell Siri something like: "remind me to pick up apples" (Do not mention the location yet - if you do it will not work)
Siri will ask: "When should I remind you?"
Say: "When I get to the apple store"
Siri will say she will remind you and you will see the location reminder in the grocery list.
This is how it works for me but if you know an easier way let me know! This is beta so I'm sure it will get easier.

I have one thing to add. You don't have to open the list manually. Tell Siri: "Add to my <listname> list". For example, if you have a list named "Work", tell Siri: "Add to my work list". Siri will reply, "What should I add to your 'Personal' list?
and you can continue from there.
There is a syntax for doing all this in one sentence, but I find it only works about half the time. Too many fields for Siri to parse in her current Beta stage

I have a list called "Tasks" that seems to be associated with an Office365 email account (for my business). I also have one called "My Calendar" associated with my personal Hotmail account. My two questions are:
1) Were these created automatically when I added the accounts?
2) Can I delete these two lists lists and, if so, how?

Managing reminder lists

Is there any way to move completed items from one list to another, or to merge Reminder lists?
For instance, if I set up a list called This Weekend and a bunch of those items are now completed, I find that I can't move those items onto another list (Home or Personal, for instance) without them being marked as NOT completed. So the only way to get rid of the This Weekend list is to delete it, thereby deleting the stuff on it as well.
I suppose the limitations of Reminders are well known by now, but I wondered if anybody had any tips on this. Thanks.

I ended up going through and highlighting the text in each chapter and removing the numbered list in the drawer and then adding it again. This pretty much took care of the problem, although I would have preferred to have the imported text with the par. numbers at the front of each par. stay the same as they were before the import. Oh well.

It should be on the top of any list you create. It is the Plus Sign in the upper right hand corner of the "Paper".

I have two reminder lists and the completed one also. How do I delete one of them; it was created in error when I got the phone.

Reminder list not showing in ical view,

That's because reminders were moved out of iCal/Calendar in Mountain Lion and into their own dedicated Reminders app.

How do I put an event into my reminder list?

With the old ical, I could simply drag an event over to the "to do" list (now Reminders) on the right side. I need this function for appigo Todo on my iphone. Anybody know how to add an event to the reminder list? I hate to have to type everything twice and appigo only syncs with the reminder list.

I figured it out. You can't drag and drop iCloud events but iMac events can be dragged to reminders. I just disabled iCloud for now til I get a chance to figure iCloud out.

Why can I NOT name a Reminder List the exact same thing as a Calendar?

Remember the good old days when ToDo Lists where automatically related to a specific calendar? I want that back. Why can I not name a Reminder List and a Calendar with identical titles? Why do I have to create a calendar named "Blue Project" and then create a Reminder List and name it "Blue Project 2" or some other iteration? This is totally asinine.

Precisely. How is "loss of functionality" progress or an upgrade? Why should I have to install an extension just to get a "reload" button? What a pile of crap. Why not have a "Use shit interface" tickbox in the Options dialogue so people can choose if they want their version of Firefox to have pants functionality?

I don't accept cookies except from "Exception" domains. However, it seems that any site that want to set a cookie is automatically added to my list of "Exceptions". Why is this?

I have "Accept cookies from sites" unchecked. I have a list of exceptions for domains that I allow to set cookies. However, it seems some site not on my exception list are automatically added to my list when they want to set cookies.

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for replying again. I've got a little bit further thanks to you. I tried the US keyboard layout as you seemed pretty definte that it should work. This time I applied the setting and also started the language toolbar and selected it from there.
Hey presto, I've got the @ where it should be. Excellent.
However the single quote ' works in a weird way. When I press it, it doesn't show up on the screen. But when I press another key, I get the single quote plus the next key I press. When I press the single quote twice, I get 2 of them. This is also the same with the SHIFT ' key. i.e. for the double quotes.
Very strange. I'll look at other keyboards and see where that gets me.

My calendars became reminder lists and I deleted them. How do I get my calendars back?

I was in the Reminders app on my iPhone 5 and empty lists named after my calendars showed up randomly (first my personal calendar, then my school one). I thought it was some strange bug so I deleted them. When it happened today with my school calendar I looked back at the calendars app and realized that somehow whatever bug (or feature?) that caused my calendars to show up in the Reminders actually caused the calendar to be deleted when I deleted the Reminder list. Is there any way Apple would be able to pull my old calendars back up and is there some way for me to aviod this in the future? I wasn't sure if it really was a bug or if it was a feature I was unaware of and misused.

Maybe this is some new ios 7.1 bug? I never tried using iCloud calendars or reminders before today but I created a shared reminder list and a shared calendar. The shared reminder list showed up as a calendar on another device and the calendar wasn't showing up at all. Went through the Apple troubleshooting list.
On the device where the calendar was missing and the reminder list was showing as a calendar:
Forced refresh of Calendar list in Calendar app. Nothing.
Killed and restarted Calendar app. Nothing.
Turned off Calendar in the iCloud Settings, waited a few minutes, then turned it back on. Success!
Missing calendar showed up and the reminder list no longer showed up as a calendar.
Something is definitely broken here but maybe my fix will work for you. If it's the reverse (calendar showing as reminder list) just toggle the reminder switch in the iCloud settings.

How do you delete the name of a new reminder list, not the list items themselves

If you create a new reminder list, you can give the list a name. When all of the items on the list are completed or deleted, how do you them remove the name of the reminder list?

Thank you, but I guess the recommendations aren't quite good enough! I don't know if anything in this troubleshooting support article will help. But there is a section in it for iOS devices. It doesn't specifically talk about deleting reminder names, but perhaps if you try refreshing the reminders as described, that might eliminate this problem

There is one other thing that might work and that is to reset all settings on your iPad. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. You won't lose any data, but it does take a while to get all of your device settings back to where they were since this will return all of the device settings back to their out of the box condition ..default wallpaper, brightness, Siri, Privacy, Location Servces and so on.
