Adding a scanner to PSE 11

I have purchased a new all-in-one How do I add it to PSE 11 so I can scan from it? Although I've made it my default device in the Windows 7 control panel, PSE is still only showing the old one.

What model printer?
Go to the manufacturer's website and download and install the latest printer drivers for it.

Scanner in PSE 11

I use a canoscan 9000F to scan my old negatives directly into PSE via File>Import.
Now that I have updated my PSE from 8 to 11 my scanner does not show in import anymore.
How do I fix this?

Adobe recommends WIA support for all modern scanners but if you need the legacy plug-in do this: Copy the Import-Export folder from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\Optional Plug-Ins\
Into
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\Plug-Ins\
N.B. Program Files on 32 bit systems

How to bring photos in from scanner to pSE 12.

I just downloaded the PSE 12, and I am seeing that I am unable to scan images directly into PSE 12. How do I accomplish this?

HI, Me again, I went to hard drive to install twain and I clicked on support files, then optional plug-ins, and there is
no import-export file in there. The TWAIN. plugin says"could not complete request because photoshop elements does not recognize this type of file". Now what the heck do I do. Soooo very frustrated.. What am I doing wrong?
I am not good at this stuff, and have sooooo much work to accomplish. Help please.

Adding notes in organizer (PSE 7)

I'm trying to organize my digital scrapbooking supplies in the organizer. Often times the items have the same notes, is there a way to mass update the notes just like there is a way to update the captions?

Anne,
There is no way in the Organizer to update the notes of multiple photos at the same time.
However, if you find yourself adding the same caption or notes to many photos, that may be an indicator that a keyword tag would serve your purpose better. You can add detailed notes to the keyword tag itself.

Adding old scanner where Image Capture will see it

I have an CanoScan N1220U flatbed scanner. Canon does not have driver software for this scanner for Intel Macs. I have downloaded a plugin for the scanner that was written for Power PC system X Macs, and I've put it in Photoshop's plugins folder. I can use it to scan with Photoshop provided I run PS in Rosetta mode. Is there some place in the system where I can put another copy of that driver (it's not a TWAIN driver) so that Image Capture will see it and use it? If so, will I have to run Image Capture in Rosetta mode, or can it automatically deal with parts in Rosetta mode, as some programs allegedly can?

Your 1220 was designed when the Mac was system 7, running at 40 Mhz. and a large hard drive was anything over 150 MB. If you are scanning paper, buy a new epson all in one. I trashed my D660U canoscan because it took forever with very limited internal memory. can you spell recycle?

Added a scanner with Secure Easy Setup and my wireless network has disappeared?

I just replaced my fax/scanner. I have a secured wireless home network. I installed the fax/scanner with Secure Easy Setup. The fax works - but my home network as disappeared!!! Where did it go? Do I have to start over and reinstall my whole wireless network? It took me forever to get it working the first time! HELP!!!

when u run easilink again it will give you the chance to change some settings wirelessly, it could be that you have changed some settings and missed that part...
you could check that by accessing the set up page of the router 192.168.1.1

Adding a printer in PSE 9

I just installed PSE 9 for Windows. I tried to print an edited image and I got a message that before I could print I needed to add a printer.
I've looked high & low for where to do this, to no avail.
Can someone please help???

Start>Control Panel>Devices and Printers.
The printer installed on your sysyem should have a green checkmark. If it does not, right click on it and make it the default printer.

Problems adding the scanner of a cannon 1370

i just add a printer/fax/scanner, its a cannon image class 1370, but can't use the scanner, and i really don't know what else to do, download a driver didn't work... please help.

I presume the canon is connected to an apple router since this is the forum area for routers not print and scan problems.. How is it connected and to what??
This is a network device and should NOT be used by USB.. scanning will not work over network to the USB. You must have it plugged in by ethernet.
If it is plugged in and you have the correct drivers downloaded for your OS.. then you will need to check with Canon for the issue. Scanning over networks is not easy and often impossible.. you might find limitations with drivers etc. But it has nothing to do with the apple router in this case.. although I would check that by making sure the computer is plugged in by ethernet to the same router.

Adding music to a PSE 11 slide show

When I try to add MP3 music to a slide show in PSE11, I get an error message that I am missing a codec. I have installed two codecs without any success. Wil this problem go away if I use tthe premier version?

PSE 12 for Mac doesn't see my scanner

PSE12 for Mac refused to work with my scanner. In preferences I checked "Additional Plug-Ins Folder" and selected the Optional Plug-Ins Folder which contains the TWAIN.plugin. I restarted the PSE and the File> Import... command remains dimmed out. Tried resstarting the iMac and PSE still doesn't see the scanner. PSE 11 used to recognize the scanner right away. I hope this isn't a permanent change in PSE 12!

Hi Barbara - I reinstalled PSE 11 on my iMac and verified that it still works with the Canon 8800F scanner. I also installed PSE 12 on my Macbook Air, moved the Twain plug into the right spot, and found that it doesn't see the scanner either. Preview on the Macbook does see the scanner OK so it's not a connection problem there either.
I noticed that the Twain plugins in PSE 11 and 12 are the same version but different sizes. The get info windows for the two versions of PSE on the iMac (Kahawalu) and the PSE 12 on the Airbook (Niumalu) are below. Would you be able to let me know the PSE 12 Twain file version and file size that is working with your Canon scanner? It might help narrow this thing down.

PSE 7 Win Vista x64: Scanner no longer works after reinstall

Hello,
I was using my Kodak i1220 scanner no problem in Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 on Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 for several months (prior to that, I had been using PSE 6 with no issues).
Recently I did a clean install of Windows. I loaded Photoshop, then installed my scanner (in that order).
Now, when I try to scan, the scanner pulls through 2 pictures and then stops with an error stating that Photoshop was unable to obtain the file from the device.
Interestingly, the scanner works just fine with Photoshop CS4. However, I do not want to scan with that because it is an extra step to then have to save each image and then launch PSE to organize them. My mother is helping me with this project and I can't make her do that.
In terms of troubleshooting, I've uninstalled the scanner and PSE7, rebooted, installed the scanner, and then reinstalled PSE7, but the problem persists. I thought perhaps the order in which I installed the scanner and PSE might affect it, but perhaps that's not a factor.
Hopefully someone can provide some insight on this. We've scanned over 12,000 pictures into PSE in the past 6 months and I would hate for this roadblock to sabotage the project!

Epson 2480 Scanner doesn't show up in File Import menu in PSE 6

Intel iMac
Mac OS X 10.5.8
I recently upgraded from PSE 4 to PSE 6 and everything is fine. It delivers everything I expected but for one little thing.
Il have been using my Epson 2480 scanner with PSE 4 for years both on G4 and Intel based Macs. I never had an issue. The driver used to be listed in the File>Import menu.
After installing PSE 6 I uninstalled the Epson driver and installed the updated version.
The Adobe authored TWAIN.plugin is correcty installed in the Adobe Photoshop Elements 6/Plug-Ins/ImportModules.
It still works in PSE 4.
Yet it isn’t listed as it should in PS6. Did I miss something?

I don’t repair permissions often. I probably should;)
I’ll check the Rosetta box when I need to scan stuff and I’ll let it unchecked the rest of the time. PSE 6 works perfectly well as it is.
BTW I read in the PS forum people say it was as shame to use a sophisticated soft like PS for such a trivial job as scanning. They suggested one could just use the scanner dedicated soft. I found the argument ludicrous. If I need to process the images with PSE it’s darn convenient to get them with PSE in the first place. Thanks to you I'll be able to do so.

Il was using my Epson scanner with PSE 4. The driver used to be listed in the File>Import menu. After installing PSE 6 I uninstalled the Epson driver and installed the updated version. Yet it isn’t listed as it should. Did I miss something?

Help with Canon MX870 - scanner stopped working

Hi,
I bought a Canon Pixma MX870 printer/scanner a month or so ago and it was working fine up till this week. I had installed the Canon software and ran the OS X Software updpate when setting it up.
All of a sudden last week I couldn't print. It kept saying the printer couldn't be found. So I downloaded the Apple Canon printer software and reinstalled it thinking it couldn't do any harm. The printer is working again. The scanner not so much. If I do manage to get it to work (either by using the scanner from System preference > Print/Fax > and choosing open scanner or by using the MP Navigator it typically now will only work 1 time. After that it says "scanner not found" and sometimes if I close and reopen the scanner from Print/Fax it says "trying to open scanner session".
I know the MX870 is connected to the network. The blue wifi light is lit, it shows in the router's list of connected devicies, it also shows in Safari's list of Bonjour Devices.
I need this machine to scan and play nice with OS X - I need to scan more than print.
I ran Disk Warrior, ran chrons to do maintenance and fix permissions etc. I tried deleting and re- adding the scanner. That didn't work and I had to restore it from backup.
Anyone have any ideas on what to do next?

The 80 number would have been the MX870 wifi network address - not the IP address. The scanner selector tool does not show the device IP address, only the network address.
...asking if "Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector 2" could accept incoming connections from the network and there was a 3rd choice listing the scanner as "Canon MX870 series_3DXXXXX (where I am putting in Xs because I suspect it is a serial number).
Based on this I would guess that the firewall is enabled on your Mac and the prompt is to add an exception to for the networked MX870 (and the X's are the last digits of the wifi network address shown in the selector tool) so that communication can flow between both devices.
