Adding a short ppt presentation into my existing keynote presentation
Please help me
Can this be done?
I have copied the slides from a ppt presentation and want to add them into keynotes
I am running a conference and I want all the speakers presentations to lead onto one another so thought I would incorporate them into my keynote presentation but I am having problems.
I can copy the slides but don't seem to be able to paste them inbetween slides in keynote
Is there a way to do this?
Thank you
Deborah

Open the pp presentation in Keynote +(right click and under Open with, select Keynote)+. Then you can drag the Thumbnails from one to the other.

Importing PPT files into Keynote
All ...
Looks like VERY solid group here ... I am pleased to see how many questions are closed as 'answered' ... All of that being said, I've spent the past hour scanning topics and answers and have not found one that satisfies my realtively simple problem (or, at least I hope it is simple) ...
I purchased iWork06 over the weekend and installed it this morning ... I ran Software Update in my Apple menu and there appear to be no updates to the software ...
Upon attempting to import a PPT slide to Keynote (both by dragging the PPT file onto the Keynote icon and attempting to open the PPT file from within Keynote), Keynote crashes ... This has happened 5 times in the past 5 minutes ...
I'm sure there is likely a simple fix I am unaware of, but it escapes me at the moment ...
A little help?
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks for the reply ...
I'm not positive, but I think it may be a graphics issue ...
I decided to "cut and paste" the content of each ppt slide into a new Keynote file using the 'blank' master slide as a default ...
The original ppt file had 46 slides in total and took up 5mb ...
When I got to slide 40 and went to cut and paste, I got the spinning wheel of death - but was patient and let my machine do its magic - and ended up waiting about 5 or 6 minutes for the conversion to Keynote ... It looked like the chart in the slide may have had several hundred data points in it and the sheer mass of the metafile may have crashed the conversion ...
Other than that, cut and paste was seamless for all of the other slides which included similar graphics and charts, but none with quite so many data points ...
The only other thing I can think of is the fact that the ppt was on a templated master slide - it had my client's company logo in the bottom right hand corner of all of the slides ... Perhaps this ppt formatting caused the problems?
Regardless, I've gotten the think into Keynote and am looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and learning to manipulate this seemingly impressive piece of software ... However, I am hoping to find a long term solution to importing that does not include cutting and pasting 46 slides ...
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Chris -
Hi - I'm wondering if someone has done this or can recommend the best way to do this.
We have a PPT/Presenter file that was created using PPT 2010 and Presenter 9. We recorded audio for the training right in Presenter and have also imported videos into the file using Presenter.
We need to output the file to DVD to actually play on a DVD player. We know we can do that with Captivate (we are using Captivate 5) and are wondering if there is a way to take our file (the package so to speak) and get that to open in Captivate and retain all of the pieces that we have added to it (audio, video, hyperlinks).
Or, alternatively, if there is a way to publish our Presenter file to DVD format, that would work for us too.
Thank you for any information or suggestions!
EmilyHi Emily,
Presenter contents and captivate contents are different. but you can achieve it using the following steps in presenter.
1. Open you presentation.
2. GO to Adobe Presenter>>Publish .Publish dialog will open.
3. Check the CD package checkbox and publish the content.
4. Now Goto the publish folder and burn the content on DVD.
After successfull Burn, You can play on DVD player.
I hope this will work for you. Kindly let me know if you are facing any problem.
Thanks,
Sunil

Adding an OVM server back into OVM Manager after a reload
We have created a sandbox environment to test Oracle virtualization and had 2 physical servers setup. One running Oracle OVM and the other Oracle Linux. The Oracle Linux box had OVM Manager installed and was using local storage for the repository.
After about a month of running the Oracle Linux box was reloaded without saving any of the OVM Manager configuration information. After reloading the Oracle Linux box and installing OVM Manager my first issue was adding the OVM server back into a pool. We were getting the error that it was already being managed by another host. After a quick search of the Oracle forum I found a post suggesting that we stop the ovs-agent on the OVM box and remove a file.
These were the commands:
# service ovs-agent stop
# rm /etc/ovs-agent/db/server
# service ovs-agent start
After doing this I was able to discover and add the server into a pool. The next issue was when I went to look at the virtual machines hosted on the OVM machine. All 6 of the virtual machines that were created now show as "orphan_004fb0000060000...". In digging around I noticed that the repository for the local storage was not setup so when I go to try add the local disk back as a repository and I select "create a data repository: select physical disk" it comes back as blank.
If I click the storage tab and look under local file systems I see the disk and it has location repository specified and server listed under presented servers.
I am thinking the mapping is somehow messed up after adding the host back to a new OVM Manager and I need to relink the storage to the repository but am a little lost as to how to accomplish this.
I am trying to avoid reloading the entire OVM server so I don't lose the work already done with the existing virtual machines.To answer your second question first, It is an unclustered server pool.
When I run the refresh I get an error. Below are the details:

Short dump 'Table does not exist in database'
Hello All,
When a report is executing it is going to short dump by saying 'Table does not exist in database'. As per the short dump analysis this issue is happening because of the following Native SQL statement statement :
Program : %_T050N0 (This is a dynamic program generating by SAP )
Form Name : DYN_LIC_SEL_TOT
exec sql performing LOOP_MOVE_WRITE_ISAP.
select single_plate, itm_num, ctry_code, model_lot,
lic_hold_flg, qty into :dcat-lplate, :dcat-matnr,
:dcat-werks, :dcat-charg, :dcat-holdflag,
:dcat-qty from ZLICENSE_R2 where itm_num = :p_matnr and
model_lot = :p_charg
endexec.
As per the customer this issue occurring since they migrated the SAP back-end data base from Oralce to DB6. Here I felt that ZLICENSE_R2 is not migrated from the Oracle to DB6. But as per the BASIS Team, even this table was not maintained in Oracle also. If the table was not maintained in the Oracle, this issue should have been there even before migration also.
Following is the short dump details:
Short text
Table does not exist in database.
What happened?
The table or view name used does not
exist in the database.
The error occurred in the current database connection "DEFAULT".
What can you do?
Check the spelling of the table names in your report.
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_NATIVE_SQL_ERROR', was not
caught in
procedure "DYN_LIC_SEL_TOT" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING
clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
Triggering SQL statement: "select single_plate, itm_num, ctry_code, model_lot,
lic_hold_flg, qty from ZLICENSE_R2 where itm_num = ? and model_lot = ? "
Database error code: "-204"
Could you please let me know what might be the reason for this issue.
Many Thanks in Advance.Transaction SE11, input ZLICENSE_R2 for table name, and display the table. Did the table display? If not, that is the main problem.
If the table displays, go to menu item Utilities -> Database Object -> Database Utility
In the resulting screen, under the "Status" fields, you should see text "Exists in the database." If you don't, then the table exists in the dictionary, but doesn't exist in the database system. Click the "Create database table" button and then you should be able to run the program.
You may need basis team's help to carryout some of these actions. -
How can you create a writable PDF document from a PPT presentation ?
How can you create a writable PDF document from a PPT presentation ? Upper part with the image , lower part with a free space in order to take notes for students during presentation or course.
Thanks.
BYou can make a PDF file out of you notes and handouts but using the Adobe PDF printer.
Open your PowerPoint Document then go to “File” “Print”
Select ‘Adobe PDF” Printer
Under slides, select which way you want to print. Note it will not print to a printer but to a PDF file.
After then go into printer Properties and Setup PDF properties, do the following: (see second image below)
Default: PDF/A 1-b
Adobe Security: none (change as needed)
Adobe Output folder: Prompt for Adobe file name
Adobe Page size: Letter (change as needed)
Check the following check boxes
View Adobe PDf Results,
Add Document Information,
Rely on system fonts only,
Delete Log files for successful jobs.
Select OK
A pop will ask you where you want to save the document. The file extension should be PDF. After giving the file name select okay and the file should popup as a PDF. Down side is if you want to speaker notes included then you will have to do another file, like wise with just screen shots then combine into one PDF document.
I used Acrobat IX Pro. So to do this you need Acrobat IX or X Pro.
Hope this will help.

Blue and red are reversed on external monitor in ppt presentation mode only
Hi all,
I have a mid-2012 macbook pro and I'm running OS X 10.9.5 Sorry but the problem's a bit complicated so the description is a bit long.
After I upgraded to maverick I started having a problem at work. I am a university professor who uses my laptop to project ppt lectures onto an external monitor. I have never had a problem with it. I am not sure that the problem is related to maverick but it was around that time that it began to occur.
The problem is when I project my display onto the screen before I switch into the presentation mode all the colors on the external monitor are fine, when I switch to the presentation mode on ppt (14.4.5) reds are blues and blues are reds (for most but not all, weird enough) on the external monitor, and blue strawberries are really unappealing. It is not limited to one projector on campus, I've bothered our IT guys to death about it and they've checked the monitors (not the monitors) and they worked trying to fix my problem but they are flummoxed, I've called microsoft about it and stumped them (they refunded my service fee because they couldn't solve the problem). My IT guys did find one work around where I changed the settings for displays in ppt from presenter view to mirror show and that worked but it created other problems in that I couldn't advance my slides easily (for each and every slide advance, I had to "pretend" to "end show" after I'd advanced and then it would advance...) so that's not a viable option either. I opened the ppt presentation in keynote and still get the same color reversal happening. This leads me to think that it may be a maverick problem? But I don't know. Now my semester is gearing up and I'd love for the lovely Apple community experts to chime in and give ideas on how to solve this conundrum! I'd be so very grateful!
LauraEither an update to 10.7.4 or a restart with the computer closed the entire time seems to have solved the problem. Not sure which.

Place smart object into pre-existing Photoshop file
There's not a way to do this in Bridge, but maybe there is a way to script it?
I've never used a Bridge Script but would love to how to implement them, if I can get a script to do this...
I need to Import multiple files into an existing photoshop file (with a predetermined size ) as smart object layers in photoshop.
The options that Bridge currently offers falls short in 2 area
Load Files into Photoshop Layers-- does not import smart objects and creates a new photoshop file that ends up being as large as the largest imported file
Place into Photoshop--only lets you do one at a time
I need "Place into Photoshop" with multiple files
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks!!Please try this version, I've tested this in CS4...
#target bridge
if( BridgeTalk.appName == "bridge" ) {
PlaceFiles = new MenuElement("command", "Place Files In Photoshop",
"at the end of Thumbnail");
PlaceFiles.onSelect = function () {
placeFilesInPhotoshop();
function placeFilesInPhotoshop(){
var sels = app.document.selections;
for (i = 0; i < sels.length; i++) {
var t = new Thumbnail(sels[i]);
sendPicToPhotoshop(sels[i].path);
function sendPicToPhotoshop(fileName) {
function _placeFile(fileName) {

var id37 = charIDToTypeID( 'FTcs' );
var id38 = charIDToTypeID( 'QCSt' );

var id43 = charIDToTypeID( 'Vrtc' );
var id44 = charIDToTypeID( '#Pxl' );

var id45 = charIDToTypeID( 'Ofst' );

Importing Word doc into Previously Existing Project Corrupts Related Topics
Hi,
I had a few extra topics that I documented in a Word document
and imported that document into an existing HTML Help project in
RoboHelp. After doing this, it used the CSS file called by the new
folder it added for those new topics (based on the name of the
imported word doc) and when I look at topics in WYSIWIG, the text
on them is Design_Time Con. (I used the text only style of related
topics). When I select the related topic button in WYSIWIG and view
the popup, the menu choice for properties is deactivated so I can't
even edit the topics in them. And, when I try to add a new related
topic, it looks the same "corrupted" way.
What am I going to do? Is there are project setting that is
pointing to the wrong directory? What can I do to save my related
topics. I have over 400 topics all with related topics buttons and
each has an average of 6-8 related topics listed.P.S. I also tried creating a new project and importing the
htm files into it but it is doing the same thing.
Here is the code for the Related Topics in one of the topics
as a sample:

Third party Order Processing PPT Presentation:
Hi, Gurus!
I am asked to give PPT presentation on the subject topic, so can any one help me with a good PPT.
Its very urgent.
Full points for good PPT.
Thanking you gurus.
Sushil KumarHello friend,
I dont think you will get a PPT for a small topic like Third party. Please go through the details mentioned below hope that will help you in your presentation.wishing you all the best.
Third-Party Order Processing
Purpose
In third-party order processing, your company does not deliver the items requested by a customer. Instead, you pass the order along to a third-party vendor who then ships the goods directly to the customer and bills you. A sales order may consist partly or wholly of third-party items. Occasionally, you may need to let a vendor deliver items you would normally deliver
Yourself.
Process Flow
The processing of third-party orders is controlled via material types. Material types define whether a material is produced only internally can be ordered only from third-party vendors, or whether both are possible. For example, a material that is defined as a trading good can only be
Ordered from a third-party vendor. However, if you manufacture your own finished products, you may also want, from time to time, to be able to order the same type of product from other vendors.
Processing Third-Party Orders in Sales
Third-party items can be created automatically by the system, depending on how your system is set. However, you can also change a standard item to a third-party item during sales processing manually.
Automatic third-party order processing
If a material is always delivered from one or more third-party vendors, you can specify in the material master that the material is a third-party item. During subsequent sales order processing, the system automatically determines the appropriate item category for a third-party item: TAS. To specify a material as a third-party item, enter BANS in the Item category
Group field in the Sales 2 screen of the material master record.
Manual third-party order processing
In the case of a material that you normally deliver yourself but occasionally need to order from a third-party vendor, you can overwrite the item category during sales order processing. For a material that you normally deliver yourself, you specify the item category group NORM
in the material master. If, as an exception, you use a third-party material, change the entry TAN to TAS in the ItCa field when processing the sales document. The item is then processed as third-party item.
If address data for the ship-to party is changed in the sales order in third-party business transactions, the changed data will automatically be passed on to purchase requisition and also to the purchase order ,if one already exists. In the purchase order, you can display the address data for the ship-to party in the attributes for the item. You can only change the address data for the ship-to party in the sales order for third-party business transactions, and not in the purchase order. -
Installing Peoplesoft Database schema into an *existing* database ?
Are there explicit restrictions against installing a Peoplesoft schema (SYSADM) into an existing database where other application schemas are already present ?
If it is permissible, are there real-world experiences with such an implementation ?
What are the pros and cons ?
So far my experience has been 1 Peoplesoft Schema in a "Peoplesoft-Only" database.
Hemant K ChitaleHi Hemant,
Having more than one Peoplesoft application in one database is really painful.
First, on security and setting level, have multiple symbolic id (SYSADM1, SYSADM2...) implies different symbolicid for all the users.
Then, you may have some troubles to tune the database if appl and usage are differents between each other. Without saying about tables/tablespaces...
It is so much easier, scalable and reliable to have one-to-one relationship between appl and database that I do not see anything good to get all-in-one.
I worked on such config few years ago (FSCM and HRMS in one database), after few months of production, the maintenance was really became a nightmare, a project has been made to cut it in pieces.
It has been strongly recommanded by Peoplesoft to avoid multiple appl in one database for years.
Now I'm re-reading your post, you may ask about an other appl (other than PS) within a PS appl into one db... never done such thing, but again, each appl have their own usage and specificities. It could be even worse since each appl ignore the other one, I would tend to avoid that.

Hi there,
I would like to import a ppt presentation into a FCP project.
First, I tried to make a movie directly from the Power point application (this option is offered in the application). I got a .mov file that I cannot import into my project.
Then I tried to open the .mov into mpeg streamclip and save it as a QT movie. Works OK but I loose many of the transitions of the presentation or get unrelated transitions...for example, three images arriving from three different positions would show on the top of each other at once.
I checked on the original .mov from the ppt file prior to transforming it into QT, and it seems that most transitions are lost at the very first step of making the movie from the ppt file, although I checked that the option box was checked for mainting tricks and transitions.
Could anybody help me there ?
I know it is not quite a FCP question but may be someone else on this community experienced similar problems....
Thanks a lot in advance
IvanThe best way to do this is to recreate the screens in photoshop. I know this isn't practical in many cases. Better to export the individual screens from within powerpoint. If I remember correctly, you can export all the screens as a batch. You may need to fool with your screen resolution before you do the export from within powerpoint as sometimes powerpoint scales to match the screen resolution. You'll have to recreate the timing and transitioins between screens.

Problems importing PPT videos into iMovie
Hello -
I consider myself a pretty computer literate person, but I'm afraid I'm stumped with my current problem.
I need to import a Power Point Presentation into iMovie so I can record video of myself speaking over the presentation. I found many bits of helpful advice about how to do this. Apparently, the steps should be as follows:
1) Time out your PPT presentation as needed.
2) Save the PPT presentation as a movie (MOV) file.
3) Convert the file into a format iMovie can read with a converter like MPEG Streamclip or MacX Free iMovie Video Converter.
4) Import the new file into iMovie.
All sounds good, but I have a problem with step 3. After the file has been converted, the resulting video cuts off the first slide and the time it should have taken. This happens with both the converters (listed above) I tried. So, I thought I would just add some time to the PPT presentation and it would be ok, but the same things happens even when I add a minute at the beginning of the video.
I checked the original PPT video file and it looks to be the correct lenght, but the converted versions cut off the beginning of the video.
This is quite odd and I'm stumped. Any ideas would be very welcome.
Thanks!

My computer is converting downloads from a ppt file into a pps?
How do I stop my computer from converting downloads from a ppt file into a pps? When I download PowerPoint presentations from online for class my computer is converting the ppt files into a pps, even though I have PowerPoint. It used to download ppt files fine until recently.
Yep, this happens. I have not found a way to keep the files from downloading as a ,pps. So I use a work around. Find where you have the downloaded file. It should look something like "slides.ppt.pps." Click on the file name to edit and erase the .pps. You'll see a dialog box that asks you if you really want to eliminate the .pps. Say yes and it will be removed from the name and you can then load into PowerPoint. Hope it works for you.
