  • Curious about adding a shuffle to the mix

I hope sombody out there can answer this problem. I have a iPod Mini. and I just bought my Son a iPod shuffle. I want to know if I have to install a seperate program for his shuffle or can he use the existing one that I have?
    Mini   Windows XP

Your son can use your iTunes. The songs that you have and the adds will auto sync to both iPods unless you put them into manual mode. If you don't like/want this then you will need to create another user account for you son... do a search since it's been brought up many times.

  • Using a iPod and a iPod shuffle on the same computer

I was given an iPod shuffle for Christmas and my son has a iPod. He has down loaded the iPod program on my laptop with his songs. If I down load my shuffle on to the same computer will it delete his program and songs or can I use his itunes for my shuffle? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. I've just added a shuffle to my iTunes for my wife's use. I have an existing mini. I have attempted to follow the advice you gave in answer to the previous message. I now have two differing playlists but I am unable to follow the steps shown in Method 2 where you use 'Sync music' & then 'Select playlist'. I cannot find these 2 in any of the iTunes menus or by right clicking. I have also referred to my original iPod Mini user guide & am unable to follow the advice in there either, where it says select iPod mini in the Source list. There is nowhere in my iTunes menus where it says 'Source list'. I would be grateful for some help. thanks

  • Making shuffle very random

Ive got one great smart folder in iTunes that picks from various other smart folders. It updates itself and is amazing.
BUT...on my iPod it tends to pick two songs next to each other from the same Smart Folder. It doesnt appear that random!
How can I make the shuffling even more random within my iPod and iTunes?
    Tc

Okay, first, let me repeat that random is random and your brain isn't. In early days we had lot of discussion where people attempted to prove that random wasn't random. Apple eventually added the shuffle options in the Preferences to, in effect, make random less random!
Basically, if you set Smart Shuffle to the Random setting, you get real randomness which means you might wind up hearing four Stones songs in a row. If you move the slider in one direction, you increase the likelihood that the next song will be by the same artist or on the same album while if you move it in the other direction you decrease that likelihood. If you select the Artist or Grouping then an Artist or Grouping is randomly selected and all the songs by that Artist or Grouping will be played one after the other, then a different Artist or Grouping will be randomly selected.
Of course you can also create a smartlist that selects music randomly from your criteria. This random selection isn't influenced by the preference settings so your criteria might be selecting 100 songs from 20 different artists and wind up with 50 songs by one artist. No matter how randomly you try to play that list, your chances of getting three songs by the same artists are pretty good.

  • Help! -Itunes wont sync, Set-Up Assistant pops up, Cant see iPod contents..

I have several problems happening at once - please help if you can!
When I connect to iTunes, my iPod starts to sync, but then I get an error message "Cannot synchronize ----'s iPod. Unknown Error (-48)"
It then jumps straight to the Set Up Assistant, as if its the first time I've connected my iPod! (I've had it for a year now). I'm too scared to go through that option in case it wipes the music/video off my iPod.
After all this, my iPod's name Imine) is actually visible in the left side panel of iTunes - BUT, i cant see any of the contents ie songs, video etc.
Funny thing is, I can still load songs & video onto the iPod, and it synchronizes and saves. But, I just cant see anything thats on the iPod (meaning I cant edit or delete, which is annoying), as iTunes only recognizes it as a brand new ipod.
    So, what can I do?
I've tried to reset the Ipod, and reloaded iTunes. I've even used an earlier version of iTunes on a different computer and the exact same thing happens there (which leads me to believe somehting happened to the iPod).
I dont want to restore the iPod - I have nearly filled the 160GB capacity and I simply cannot back it up anywhere as no computer i have has enough memory and all my original music is overseas at home.
Why is itunes not recognising the ipod, but it still saves data on it??? How can I bypass the Set Up assistant?? (its irritating).
    Please help!!

I am also having the same problem. This is my second ipod (I've added a shuffle and already had a nano). The nano works fine. When I connect the shuffle, it is grayed out in the left pane. The main view only shows two tabs, Settings and Contents. It doesn't seem to matter how I have the syncing setup.

  • Af:query & selenium testing

af:query creates search elements with ids such as "myQuery:value00", "myQuery:value10", and so on.
As I understand it, adding or shuffling search attributes will break any automated testing (in our case, our Selenium tests).
I would think that ids such as "myQuery:city", "myQuery:state", "myQuery:someOtherAttributeName" would result in more robust tests.
Is there any way to accomplish this?

  • Help with adding new song to 2007 iPod shuffle

I have an iPod shuffle from 2007 and just recently went to add new songs to it.  Itunes program keeps telling me I have to erase everything and reload w/ new playlist I've added??  Confused, don't remember it working like this last year when I added songs.  Any help??

With the 1st and 2nd gen iPod shuffle, it can only be associated with one iTunes library at a time.  That has always been the design.  It is basically like a mobile playlist for iTunes the library.  The 3rd and 4th gen shuffles work more like the "bigger" iPods that have a screen, which is different from the very simple 1st and 2nd gen.
If you previously used this shuffle with a different iTunes library, iTunes is asking if you want to associate the shuffle with the iTunes library you are now using.
    Any help??
What do you want to do...?

  • I keep getting the message on iTunes that my Shuffle (which is current on updates) needs to be restored.  It is showing up in devices, but when I try to add songs to it, I don't get the little progress bar showing me that the song is being added. ***?

I updated to the new iTunes last week.  Today I plugged in my 4th generation Shuffle to add some new songs.  The shuffle appears in Devices, but when I try to add songs, I'm not getting the progress bar at the top of the screen, so I'm assuming the song isn't being added.  I tried ejecting the Shuffle and plugging it in again, and I got a message that my iPod needed to be restored before it could be used with iTunes -- even though the screen also said the Shuffle is up to date on the software. I finally gave in and restored it, but I continue to get the same message.  When I eject the iPod and try to play it now, I'm getting nothing, and when it is connected to the usb port, the orange light is continually flashing.  I've been trying to figure this out for about 3 hours now, so if anyone could help me, I'd be eternally grateful!

The 1st and 2nd gen shuffles do not have an automatic syncing mode, like later shuffles and the "big" iPods.  It is maintained manually (or by using the Autofill feature).
If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The shuffle appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES, when connected.
To add songs to the shuffle...  Show a list of songs in the iTunes window.  For example, you can select Music under LIBRARY (in the sidebar) to show your complete iTunes music library list.  Select a song and drag it to the shuffle in the sidebar.  You can do this with more than one song selected.  Alternately, select the song(s), right-click the selection, and choose the command to Add to Playlist -> [name of iPod].
To remove songs from the shuffle...  Select the shuffle in the sidebar.  To the right, it's Settings screen is shown.  Toward the top, where it says Settings, click on On This iPod (to the right).  The list of songs on the shuffle is shown below.  Select the song you want to remove and press Delete on the keyboard.  You can do this with more than one song selected.
NOTE:  At the bottom of the shuffle's list of songs, there are controls for the Autofill feature.  You can also use Autofill to fill your shuffle from your music library or from a specific playlist.

  • HT1399 I have an ipod shuffle 4, my playlist is in alphabetical order on my itunes, when I go to add it to my ipod it puts it into order of "date added", under "View" i can change it, but when I sync it, it immediately reverts back?!!

Yeah - not really. Sorry - but you will need to get it fixed so you can back it up. You are going to want to Restore your new iPhone from that backup when you get it, so it will really be worth it.
As soon as you get your new iPhone, set up automatic iCloud backups, or if you don't have Wifi, then it is really important to get into the habit of backing your device up weekly to iTunes.
    Best of luck!

  • Shuffle "finished syncing" after only adding a few songs

i've tried resetting and restoring the ipod shuffle but when i try to autofill from a playlist, it first cues up the appropriate number of songs to sync (about 270 with down-convert to 128 turned on) but will stop syncing after 5 or so songs have been added. if i turn off the option "replace all songs when autofilling" then i can hit "autofill" and get another 5 or so songs copied (and can repeat this till full)... any suggestions, anyone seen this before?
also, don't know if its relevant but my shuffle has been "stuck" in random for past few months regardless of what the switch is set to. thanks! c.s.

Also having the same problem, cues up the songs correctly & then downloads somewhere between 2 & 40. However I have noticed that it only happens when down-converting to 128kbs. It is really annoying though.
Have the same problem on 2 shuffles so I guess that this is a software issue on itunes. The shuffles work fine apart from the syncing issue.
    Anyone have any Ideas?

  • Unable to shuffle Music Video added to Playlist in iTunes

I am unable to shuffle music videos added to iTunes Playlist. I want to listen songs present in playlist with a random selection instead of a sequential playback. Also when I activate the shuffle button while playing videos the playback stops after completion of the current track.
So please suggest a way out.
    Thanks

If the iPad works the same way as the iPhone, I found a workaround, created a playlist in my music (instead of videos), added my videos to this playlist then play everything off the 'Music' app rather than the 'Videos' on my iPhone. Works perfectly for me, can shuffle, loop...

  • Shuffle function on shuffle when adding your own playlist

here is the problem, i plug in my shuffle, all good up until i try to sync a specific playlist to the shuffle. When i try to use the autofil function that asks what playlist you want to use, it won't work unless it is from iTunes premade lists, not one i created. I can hilight all and right click and add to shuffle, which works for adding music to the shuffle. however after unplugging the shuffle, correctly, it only plays music on the continuous function and not from the first song. Also it blinks green and orange indicating no music on the shuffle when on the shuffle function. I'm wondering if it is a bug in the shuffle, or Itunes?? I exchanged my first shuffle as i thought it was the problem, it wasn't so i'm assuming its an iTunes issue?? Any way to fix this?
I am up to date on versions and am running a 30 gig video ipod on this i tunes as well, but rarely plug it in. The shuffle is teh second generation 1 gig.

well, i got it fixed, not totaly sure of how, but got it done. i made sure that when in the get info pop up box after highlighting all that skip was checked NO. it also for some reason deleted about 150 songs from the original playlist when i converted to aac, so i re-added the songs and hit auto fill and it worked...i'm happy, and i'm never plugging the shuffle into my computer again!!

  • Shuffle Recently Added Playlist (or any playlists!)

How can you shuffle recently added playlist music? I know that you can click the normal shuffle songs option, but if you wanted only to shuffle the recently added music or music on certain playlists and not the whole library on the ipod, how do you do it? Can you do it? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Sam,
CRMToolBox gives you an option to work on webresources. Alternatly, You can export the webresource, work in Visual Studio and use the browse button on the webresource editor to upload the updated file.

  • Adding music to iPod Shuffle PROBLEM!!!

    ok...
when i try to put a music on my iPod Shuffle with iTunes after like 5~10 music the iPod just disconect from my pc and keep doing this all the time
anyone know how to fix that?

An iPod shuffle can't contain content from more than one iTunes library at once. Use the Transfer Purchases command in the iTunes Store menu or other methods to move the music to the new computer and then erase and sync it.
