Adding a simple audio fade at the end of a movie - help

Hi gentlemen,
How do you add a simple fade out to the audio track at the end of a movie ?
I tried adding a keyframe about 5 seconds before the end of my movie, but can't figure out how to do it. Not sure how to do this :-(
I need some help. ( I read the manual and I don't get it )
Thanks,
Dave.

Dave,
In Effects>Audio Transitions>Crossfades, you should have 2 Trransitions. Choose Constant Power, and drag it to the end of your Audio Clip. Depending on your settings in Edit>Preferences, you may need to drag the beginning of the Constant Power Crossfade to the left, to get the 5 sec., that you want.
Other method would be to highlight the Clip, and in the Effects Control panel, choose Volume. Go to 5 sec., before the end, and click the "stopwatch" to add a start Keyframes and add a Keyframe. Go to the end of the Clip and click the "add Keyframe" button. With the CTI still over that Keyframe on the end of the clip, drag the Volume slider to -00.0db.

  • How do I apply a fade to the end of an audio track?

    I'm using Captivate 7, and have added one of the Gallery sounds to a slide in my software simulation. I want the track to fade at the end of slide, so I guess I need to apply an effect. All the help refers to "clicking the triangle next to the audio track name" to expand the track for editing, then goes on to talk about keyframes. I don't see a triangle next to the track name, or next to anything related to the track. I am in the Effects workspace. Also, on the EFFECTS tab, all the selections are grayed out.
    I also tried adding a fade by using the settings on the PROPERTIES tab, but it doesn't affect the playback.
    How do I apply a fade effect?

    Effects have no relation whatsoever with audio clips, I don't understand why you were looking there.
    You can edit audio, and to get into the editor there are several ways. If this is slide audio, the clip is visible on the timeline and right-click menu has an option Edit. Another way is to find the clip in the Library, and the right-click menu on its name has more options, not only Edit in Captivate, but you can also use another application which I would recommend. The audio editor in Captivate is pretty limited, I'm using Audition, but Audacity is free to use.
    For an easy way to have a fade out (you can time it, not the way of fading like in a real audio editor), you don't even need the audio editor in Captivate. Look in the Properties panel, part Audio and you'll have Fade in and Fade out.

  • Fad out the end of a clip

    Can anybody tell me how I can fade out the end of the sound clip I have created in sound track pro?
    Thanks a lot.

    If you're in multitrack mode, you'll need to use volume automation. Click the arrow to the left of the track name to open the automation pane. Double-click on the volume automation line at the place you want your fade to begin. Double-click again at the place you want your fade to end and grab the little square dot to the bottom.

  • Adding time at the end of a movie

    Is there a way to add a couple seconds of black at the end of a movie without having an object on the timeline?

    You could try extending the work area, but why not just put a black matte and do the job properly?
    If you play out the timeline to tape, a very short black clip at the end will generate permanent black output to tape, so you can avoid longer timelines that way if you wish. But exporting to file needs all frames to be specified.

  • In iMovie '11 how do I slow down my credits at the end of my movie.  I typed them in, but the speed is too fast.

    I have iMovie '11, and I can't find how to slow down the "credits" I've typed in at the end of my movie.  I guess
    it would be the scrolling speed.

    Credits scroll at the speed that is necessary for the scrolling to complete by the end of the clip.  So, to slow them down, simply prolong the duration of the scrolling credits title clip by selecting and draggging out the yellow boundary.
    Geoff.

  • What is the best way to make "credits" at the end of a movie?

    Is there a way in iMovie (or iDVD) that I can create credits or just a black screen with words on it? I am sure there is a way, I am just not sure.
    Thanks!

    If you want it to be on a black background ( and use the 'over black' option) it will add onto the end of your movie.
    If you want it to play over your movie, uncheck the 'over black' option box.

  • Audio Fade off at end

    I have added an audio stream to the timeline and want to fade off the volume at the last few second of the audio. How can I do this???

    Every piece of audio in the timeline has a button at the start and end that allows you to fade the sound in or out.

  • A simple audio fade

    Hi,
    I just started in Premiere CS4.  I'm so used to having a metal mixer do my fade ins and outs and I cannot figure out how to simply fade out audio at the fade to black at end of sequence.  What I did was:
    mark in at FTB
    mark out at FTB
    open up audio effects
    try to drag and drop the constant power i think it was
    i tried double clicking on that effect once it's on the timeline to tell it to fade out; no luck as it does not open or anything
    i'm at wits end
    surely there has to be an easy way to do this.  please advise.

  • Only a 2 second fade at the end of a song?

    This is irritating: I can only do a fade-out at the end of a song over a two second span. It is way too abrupt. Are there any ways to make the fade out more gradual?

  • Audio disappear at the end of my merged subclips after a relink

    Hello everyone,
    I am currently experiencing a new bug I've never seen before. Let me explain.
    *1. The project of my workflow*
    - I digitize HDCAM dailies (23,98) at low resolution with a DV codec
    - I use the "Cinema Tools Reverse Telecine" to have the clips in 23,98 instead of 29,97
    - I merge the video with the sound (which is 29,97)
    - I create a subclip from the merge to remove the unwanted black at the beginning and the end of the clip, because the audio file is longer than the video file
    *2. The problem*
    Because I had to move my mediafiles to another hard drive, I had to relink them. The relink worked well, until I discoverd I couldn't hear the end of the sound of my merged clips. At 3/4 of the clip, the audio just stops. But if I go in the audio tab of the clip, I can see the waveforms.
    +In green the part I can hear, in red the part I can't hear when I play the clip.+
    Really weird. It's like FCP doesn't consider the audio anymore.
    If I drag the clip to a timeline, it appears like this:
    +I can't extend the audio in the timeline, even if it exists.+
    *3. The workaround*
    I tried relink one merged clips several times in a row. Each time it loose a bit of the end of the audio. In five relink, I have no audio anymore.
    The only option is to remove subclips limits. There I have my audio back. But if, for whatever reason (and it can happen in a project) I have to relink, it will be the same problem over and over.
    I don't really understand why this is happening, but I think it might be related to the 6.0.2 update, because I've never seen this bug before.
    *4. The questions*
    Does anyone had the same problem?
    If there is something unclear in my explanation, please ask me precise question about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes it is the correct workflow, I've done it before.
    I found a workaround: instead of transcode the clips I digitized from 29.97 to 23.98 first, I create the merged clips while the video is still the same frame rate than the audio (29.97). Then I apply the "cinema tools reverse telecine" on the merged clip.
    This merge doesn't present the problem I had before. It is a bit much more complicated than the other way, because the transcoded merge is not always sync to the frame.
    Does anyone had experienced the same problem than me with the 6.0.2 update?

  • Why is Final Cut Express adding 5 minutes of black to the end of my .dv export?  I've marked it out, there are no additional clips at the end, it's doing this consistantly.

    I'm using Final Cut Express 4.0 and when I export to .dv it adds 5 minutes of black to the end of my export.  Any ideas on why this is happening?  I have it marked out and there are no additional clips at the end that it's trying to capture.

    According to previous posts in this forum, Apple does not support FCE with Lion, no less Mountain Lion. Nonetheless some people report no problems using FCE with Lion, depending upon upgrade protocols from Leopard etc. You list FEC 4.0, but FCE has an update to 4.01 free download from software update.

  • Automatically getURL at the end of a movie?

    I’ve been using Swift3D to create a splash page.
    I’ve imported the movie into Flash and worked out how to
    [stop();’] my movie from repeating. At the end of the movie I
    want it to another webpage in the same window.
    I’ve tried adding the getURL script in the last frame
    of my movie but I get this error in the output window:
    **Error** Symbol=movie.swf, layer=Layer 1, frame=59:Line 1:
    ')' or ',' expected
    getURL(http:/www.mysite.com/);
    The movie plays but the [stop();’] action is ignored
    and the movie continues to loop. I’ve tried putting the
    getURL before and after the [stop();’] action but I get the
    same error.
    So what am I doing wrong? I’m really new to this.
    Trying to learn DremWeaver at the same time and my head is fried.
    Can someone help?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Thanks Rapatski & dzedward it works but I now get an
    error saying that Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe
    operation. The following local application on your computer or
    network is trying to communicate with this internet-enabled
    location.
    Is this just because I’m testing the file on my local
    desktop? Will this error go away when I upload my files to a
    server? Or is there a way of changing the security settings in my
    Flash movie?

  • Listening for the end of a movie

    Hi, I have some code that loads a movieclip into an empty
    clip
    var container:MovieClip =
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("container", this.getNextHighestDepth());
    container.attachMovie("twdc_mc", "twdc_mc", 1, {_x:300,
    _y:275});
    then i want to wait until the end of the movieclip, unload it
    and load another in its place - all without leaving frame one of my
    main timeline...so my initial thought was to add this:
    function getframes(numFrames,totalFrames) {
    if (numFrames == totalFrames){
    trace("removed") //changed the return variable to this for
    testing
    container.twdc_mc.onEnterFrame =
    getframes(container.twdc_mc._currentframe,container.twdc_mc._totalframes);
    (the use of a function because i want to re-use it)
    the problem is that the if statement is parsed and evaluated
    to false immediately, then it moves on to the next statement
    without looking back despite the existance of the onEnterFrame
    function
    So my question is how can I listen for this event without the
    need to add unLoad or removeMovieClip to the end of the offending
    mc?
    Thankyou in advance for any replies, I'm trying hard to get
    to grips with "as" but Im a php boy at heart and really struggling!
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
    in AS, you can't pass parameters to an event or callback
    function like onEnterFrame this way. You can either pass a function
    reference (without brackets, otherwise the function would execute
    immediately and the event is undefined after that):
    container.twdc_mc.onEnterFrame = getframes;
    or define a function 'on the fly':
    container.twdc_mc.onEnterFrame = function(){
    Since you want to use the first way, getframes() can't have
    any parameters, but instead it can use the scope of the event it is
    bound to through the 'this' keyword:
    function getframes() {
    // trace(this._totalframes);
    if (this._currentframe == this._totalframes){
    trace("removed")
    Now 'this' depends on the scope in which getframes() is
    called, so you can use it with the onEnterFrame event of the loaded
    clip:
    container.twdc_mc.onEnterFrame = getframes;
    and it will compare twdc_mc's position to it's end. Bound to
    another MC it would take that MC's values.

  • Detecting the end of a movie clip

    Hi,
    Objective: Display a book that the user can turn the pages to
    view more text. I used a tutorial from the web to create the
    turning page.
    Process: On layer 1, frame 1 of the main time line, I put an
    image of a book. On layer 2, frame 1 and also frame 2 of the main
    time line, I put text for the book. I then created a movie clip
    (MC) called PageTurnMC that looks like a page in the book is being
    turned. On layer 3 of the main time line, I put an instance of the
    MC and called it PageTurn. On layer 4 of the main time line, I put
    a button to play the MC and advance to frame 2 called drawer1cont
    (see code).
    //code on the button used to turn the book's page
    on (release) {
    PageTurn.play(); //plays my PageTurnMC
    gotoAndStop("drawer1cont"); //advance to the next frame of
    text
    Problem: I need to detect when the end of the MC before I
    advance to the next frame. I have to use the PageTurnMC many times,
    so it is not possible for me to put the action in the last frame of
    MC. As of right now, my frame 2 text appears as the PageTurnMC
    plays which is not what I want.
    Thanks for any help.

    I just tested it and got my quick example to work. Here are a
    couple of possible areas to double check:
    In the last frame of PageTurnMC, gotoAndStop must reference
    the main movie clip, e.g. _root.gotoAndStop().
    Also, make sure the parameter _root.frameID isn't in quotes
    because it is a variable, not the actual string.
    As I said, I'm not a Flash expert nor do I know the setup of
    your movie, but this should work as long as you have all of your
    references correct. If you can't get it to work, try to trace
    necessary variables to make sure you are accessing the appropriate
    variable.
    The suggestion by nilu_only will also work, but it will waste
    some cycles because you will have to wait for the movie clip to
    end. Here is what I mean:
    Immediately after playing PageTurn, accessing
    PageTurn._currentFrame will return the currentFrame only once. So
    if PageTurn isn't on its lastFrame, your condition statement
    (PageTurn_currentframe == PageTurn._totalframe) will fail and
    gotoAndStop will never be called.
    Instead, you would need to wait for some time and continually
    check the _currentFrame until the condition statement is true, e.g:
    on (release) {
    PageTurn.play();
    while (PageTurn_currentframe != PageTurn._totalframe) {}
    //wait until reaches the last frame
    gotoAndStop ("drawer1cont")
    This approach is likely to be suboptimal since you are
    wasting cycles checking the current frame instead of just having
    the movie let you know when it has reached the last frame.
    Depending on how Flash handles that while statement, you could have
    serious slowdown from that while statement. And since Flash doesn't
    have a sleep() function, you would have to do some sort of
    setTimeout() to slow down those checks. Either way, I would venture
    to say this approach is better off avoided.
