Adding a space to contact numbers...

I am adding mobile numbers to my contacts but am wondering how I can add a space when I add them e.g. 0411 000 000, at the moment it only will enter them 0411000000

Why do you want spaces??? It's an evil thing, I hate it and it ***** up my addressbook! It won't turn off even if I have turned formatting off in Address Book.
Apple PLEASE learn from other manufacturers who have the experience of making phones, like Nokia and Sony Ericsson. Just a simple thing as sending a contact to another phone via Bluetooth or SMS, how come you haven't added that yet???

I Am in India I got my iphone 5 and 6 from USA . The contact numbers and dialled numbers are automatically getting hyphens and spaces. Tried changing region format to India and also in icloud but no use. It is being a little annoying as I am not used to it. Please help me out . Thanks

Spaces in contact numbers when syncing from outloo...

When entering numbers in Outlook in international format and syncing with S60 phones you get spaces in the numbers which prevents the phone recognising callers.
Does anyone know how to prevent outlook from adding the spaces or getting the mail for exchange synchronisation to remove them.
Or does anyone have another solution to allow the phone to recognise callers whilst synchronising with outlook/exchange?

Thank you for your help.
I have just resolved the problem by setting my phone and modem options in control panel so my location is incorrect.
Outlook adds a space in numbers for your own country.
i.e. for the uk which has the country code 44
You get:
+44 1234567899
For all other countries no space in inserted.
+311234567890
Every other phone I have had ignores spaces in the number but with my E61 I have to set my pc to the incorrect local.
Problem solved.
Hopefully Nokia will fix or at least not repeat this bug in phones. Anyone know where you can log issues with Nokia? I don;t need them to fix this now but as a programmer I know that without customer feedback it's hard to test and discover bugs like this.

Adding Custom Labels Missing for Contact Numbers After Upgrading to iOS 8.0 and issue still exists on iOS 8.1

I noticed that after upgrading to iOS 8.0 on my iPhone 5s, adding custom labels for contact numbers got removed. It still exists on iOS 8.1 as well. Is there someone who is facing a similar issue or can someone help me how to get that back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have good news. You can still choose a custom label in Contacts on iOS 8. The option should be below "Other" in the list of labels when editing a contact. This information is found in the iOS 8 user guide:
Contacts at a glance - iPhone
Change a label. If a field has the wrong label, such as Home instead of Work, tap Edit. Then tap the label and choose one from the list, or tap Add Custom Label to create one of your own.

I have amny duplicate contact numbers under various names , coz when i syncronised my i phone with facebook this happened , now i want to identify them and delete them kindly help how i can save my time

i was using blackberry earlier and when i syncronized it with facebook and gmail it added many contacts to my phonebook leading to duplication , now i have got all thoes contacts transfered to my i phone and even downloaded appliciation to delete duplicates in i phone though it is paid application but of no use as it has not recognised the duplicate contact numbers in phonebook but it recognise only exact duplicates kindly help me how i can delete duplicate contact numbers with diffrent names

Just go ahead and go to settings>Facebook> Contacts OFF and do the same with Gmail. THe contacts related to those acct will dissapear. Then when you sync again with Gmail be carefull BCS IT SAYS IF YOU WANT TO JUST ADD THE CONTACTS OR MERGE THEM!!!!

Automatic insertion of spaces in telephone numbers in iPhone OS 3.0.1

I think there are two annoying behaviors in iPhone OS 3.0.1:
• if you go to contacts, create a new contact and enter a telephone number there will be inserted automatically spaces into the telephone number. One the one hand this behavior can be very practical (for example if iPhone 3.0.1 identify thereby already used formats of telephone numbers), on the other hand this behavior can be very annoying (for example if you want to create a special format for one telephone number). If you synchronize telephone numbers from your iMac to your iPhone, iPhone OS 3.0.1 put also automatically spaces into synchronized numbers.
• there is also missing a hyphen in the number keyboard to insert into the telephone number in iPhone OS 3.0.1.
First I think it would be a very good if there would be a function in iPhone OS 3.1 which deactivates the automatic insertion of spaces, secondly I think there should be a a hyphen in the number keyboard to insert into the telephone number in iPhone OS 3.0.1.
How do you think about my suggestions?

Stop iPhone adding a space to a phone number

Hi - for the third time or so, I am getting peed off that I cannot send a text to a number without iPhone adding a space.
For example if someone says: "Text STOP to 123456 to stop these messages", the iPhone reformats "123456" to "123 456" or some such, and the text does not go.
Surely there is a way to stop this? Blowed if I can find it! And Googling it has not helped.
On another point, it puts me off uising this type of texting for marketing of my own, because if I - fairly web-savvy - cannot suss it out, then many other iOS users won't be able to either.

IOS 5 Update Issues (contact numbers, m4r files, photo library)

Right after updating my iPhone 4 to IOS 5, I encountered the following minor issues:
1. Most of my contacts numbers are displayed as numbers only without names when they call or message me. I found out that the country code is added to their numbers (wasn't the case before the update). So, a number, let's say, 555-5555, must be updated in the contact list to read (+555) 555-5555. When I add the country code however, I still receive a call or message without the name, because it comes out without the country code, i.e. 555-5555! Confusing indeed.
2. All of my m4r files, mainly ringtones, have disappeared from my iPhone, though the sync process via iTunes shows they were properly transferred to iPhone. When I go to Sounds setting, or playlist, there is none. (Wasn't the case before the update. My ringtones were part of the Sounds setting)
3. I have double photo albumes for the same photos in my iPhone photo library. I only select one folder in my computer to sync with iPhone, so the photos in this folder are now copied to Camera Roll, and another folder called Mobile. (Wasn't the case before the update. Photos were placed in Camera Roll only)
Other than that, all working fine so far.

Note on point 1:
This is the issue with contact numbers as I further found out:
The problem basically with messages and calls.
Adding a country code to a contact number will show contact name in messages but not in calls coming therefrom.
Removing the country code from the contact number, will show only phone number in calls but not in messages where I only get the number without the name!
To overcome this problem, I have to register the same number for each contact twice, one with a country code and the other without! Duplicating numbers for each contact obviously is not the right solution.

Are you trying to reduce the visual clutter on the phone, save space on the phone, or limit the security exposure if your phone is stolen?
If you are only wanting to reduce the visual clutter and make scrolling through the list faster, you could set up a group on the computer containing only the contacts you want to see on my phone (called, for example, "Show on my Phone") and enable only that group inside Contacts on the phone. You might even have one or more existing groups that you could enable that way (maybe "Family" and "Personal").

9800 adds prefix No's to all contact numbers

New torch bought in Australia adds the No. 86 to the start of each of my contacts numbers when I call/message them. So the contact number 04xx yyy zzz becomes 864xx yyy zzz. Being Chinas' country code I am guessing my phone originated in China???? How do I stop the phone from adding the prefix??? OS is 6.0.0.668

To fix this setting on the phone, kindly try these steps:
- From your homescreen, look for the Options icon
- Choose Call Management from the menu list
- Choose Smart Dialing and pick the correct area code.

Disapearing contact numbers

Hi, from some weeks ago, sometimes, some of my contact numbers disapear while the contact names remain. this happens even o some contacts that I recently added to my contact list manually. any idea?

I am seeing the same problem. I just upgraded to the iPhone 4 16GB. I've only had it for a few days and realized just the other day when I needed to call someone, all I had was their email and home address, even though I'd been having a text conversation with them for days. Weird. I had to have them call me, because I dont know their number!
I'm going to call 800-myapple to see what they suggest. Maybe you should do the same or have you already??

Those are US based only Apps or numbers so no good. I won't be wasting money by just trying something either, especially because using a dual sim would mean purchasing another sim card on either pay as you go or monthly contact.
