Adding a title to a still image in iMovie for iPhone 4

I would like to add a title for a still image using iMovie for iPhone 4. Is this possible? I can't see an option for this and it seems simple enough. I can add titles on video clips, but not on still images. Any suggestions?

Thanks Joe, hopefully Apple adds this feature to iMovie soon.

  • Still images in iMovie for slideshow problems

I am bringing in 72dpi jpegs of some of my design work into iMovie. I am trying to make a slideshow and have the images change by using the music as a cue, new sound—new image, etc... I then want to export it as quicktime movie.
When I am in iMovie and I drag a clip(still image) into the time line the image looks dull and blurry, but when I go to media>show photo settings, it all the sudden looks great. Once I click out of there it goes back to looking like crap.
Any ideas? Do i just need a diff program for doing this?

The dpi setting is of NO importance in iMovie/iDVD - only the actual image pixel size. See Preparing images for DVD slideshows at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/6.0/en/17.html for suggested sizes unless you plan on using a lot of Ken Burns Effect zooming.

The preview window in iMovie is just that - a preview window - for use in editing. It does NOT show the actual image quality of the clip.
Some of us like Photo to Movie or FotoMagico for turning still images into slideshow movies - both offer free trial modes - you might want to give one of them a try.

  • Editing Still Images with iMovie and iPhoto

How do I turn "stills" created from imported film footage into jpegs? Basically I want to export still images from my videos into iphoto so I can edit and print the images - any ideas? When I drag the still images within iMovie 08 they won't drag to either the desktop or iphoto. HELP!

    1) Position your cursor where you want to create the still.
    2) Right-click (or control-click) and select "add still frame to project
    3) Right-click on the still frame that has been added to your project and select "Reveal in Finder"
    4) Right click on the jpeg file that has been revealed in the finder and select "copy"
    5) Paste the jpeg file onto the desktop or within a folder.
    6) Drag the jpeg file into iPhoto.

I am trying to place some still images into iMovie but when doing so I get the following error message :
    "Import Problem
The still image file "file name" couldn't be copied as a JPEG image. The clip has been imported, but you won't be able to apply Ken Burns effects to it."
I really want to be able to apply the ken Burns effect. Can someone help with a fix to get around this problem.
    thanks

    Hi
Is Your photos .jpeg photos ?
I would download/buy GraphicConverter™ and convert the photos to .pic and
    then use them.

    Hi

Thank you Neil,I have a macbook pro with snow leopard v.10.6.8.included intell core 2 duo with a processor speed 2.5ghb with one processor and cores 2.
can i download onto my laptop an update  by internet to my imovie 8.0.6 directly or as i have read, the system will not let me do that unless i have imovie 9.0.0 already which i do not have.
Perhaps i misunderstand you. Do you mean purchase a software copy from an apple Store and the can i directly upgrade.

  • Does iTunes still offer ring tones for iPhone?

Does iTunes still offer ring tones for iPhone? I cannot seem to locate it on the web site.

    Yes.
Some songs available via the iTunes store are also licensed to be sold and used as a ringtone. You can use the iTunes ringtone creator to create a ringtone for your chosen segment of a song that is also licensed to be used as ringtone.

  • Superimpose a title on a still image

Now I'm trying to superimpose a title (like someone's name) on a still image (their photo). It won't surprise you if I tell you that I don't see any text.
    Here's the steps I followed:
    1) inserted the image into the timeline
    2) double clicked on image in timeline to view it in the Viewer.
    3) clicked on the "A" in lower right.
    4) Chose TEXT
    5) clicked on sample text, then "Controls" in tab
    6) changed the text to the person's name.
    7) replay, but no text shown.
I'm sure it's something silly, but i'm getting frustrated.
    thanks

You have to put the text in the timeline.
Put the image in the timeline and put the playhead over the image.
Go to the generators and select the text tool you want.
Drag it to superimpose in the canvas.
Open the text in the timeline in the viewer.
Go to the controls and edit the text.

  • Adding animated gif to a still image, how do I do this?

I used to know how to do it, but I've forgotten.
Example:  The person who told me how to do it had taken an animated gif (butterfly) and placed it on her breast in a still photo of herself.  I know that she used Image Ready and as I recall, she created the same number of frames of the still image as the animated butterfly and then she somehow merged the two together.  Can someone help, is there a tutorial somewhere?  I'm using 7.0 by the way.
    Thanks,
    Ray
P.S.  I also remember that it had something to do with linking the layers so that you just needed to place the first frame in the sequence and link all the other layers to it, but I'm totally lost now!

I don't believe that PS 7.0 supports animation, 'least I don't know how to use this function if it does.  That is why I remember using Image Ready to do it.  In Image Ready you can use any animated gif file to do what I want, I just can't remember how I did it.  I do remember that I had to take my background image and duplicate it to get the same number of frames as the animated gif file, but I don't remember how I merged the two together.  It had something to do with placing the first frame of the animated gif where I wanted it on my background and then using the link tool in the layer box to link them together, that way I didn't have to place each individual frame of the animation on to the background and avoid an alignment nightmare.  I sure wish I would've taken notes!
    Thank you for your suggestions.

  • How to make a podcast with one still image with iMovie 09

I'm using trying to transfer my podcasts to Vimeo. I've been using iWeb to create a person web site with video and podcasts. I have embedded Vimeo with "html snippet widge." I want to do the same thing with audio, however Vimeo only accept "video" files.
In my attempt to work around Vimeo's video issues, I had the idea to use iMovie 09 to create a "video file" using a single still image with my audio podcast play in the background. The single image would be consistent for the entire length of the audio. It seems simple...one still image file and one audio file.
All of my audio files are less than 45 minutes in length. The problem is that when I insert an image in iMovie I can't get it to last for more than 10:00 minutes of my podcast. I've had to drag the same image over several times, extend each image's length to 10:00 minutes until I have enough images to last the full length of the audio file.
I'm sure there's a simple way to do this with one image, used one time, and have the audio added.
Anyone understand my situation and have a good idea?

The most efficient method would be for you to do this in iMovie 6. You can download a version if you don't already have it on your computer. http://supportdownload.apple.com/download.info.apple.com/AppleSupport_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Mac_OSX/downloads/061-3532.20070807.nq3ER/iMovieHD6.dmg
Put all your clips into a new iMovie project, in the order you wish them to play. Use the chapters tab and add chapter markers for each clip (except the first one; iDVD will add that one for you). Close iMovie.
Open an new iDVD project. Use the Media tab, then Movies, to locate your new iMovie. Drag and drop it onto the main iDVD window, taking care not to drop it into a drop zone. You should then see the title of your movie and the two options: Play Movie (which will play all the clips sequentiallly) and Scene Selection (which will take you to submenu(s) where you can select which clip to view).

  • How do I change the duration of a still image in iMovie to less than 0.1 second?

I am creating a movie using iMovie where I need the still images to be 0.05 seconds each or maybe even less., but whenever I select the still images and go to "Clip Adjustments" and under duration change 0.1s to 0.05s and select "Done", iMovie changes the duration back to 0.1s. I'm fairly new to iMovie and I've been messing around with it for quite a while now and still can't figure it out. Could someone help me?

for stop-motion there are perhaps better tools avail
istopmotion is a commercial app (starting at 40€ in the AppStore) offering additional tools for the animation master, such as onioning or tilt-shift.

  • I cannot use still images in iMovie Trailers anymore

Hi all, I am hoping someone out there can help me.
    I am using iMovie '11  Version 9.0.9 (1795)
    I have a macbook prousing OS x Version 10.9.2
Processor 2.2 Ghz intel core i7
Last year I created a few "Trailers" using still images. All of a sudden I can no longer do this.  I cannot click on the camera icon as it is 'greyed' out or unclickable.  My photos stored in iPhoto.
I can no longer simply drag and drop my images into the 'Project' anymore.
You know when you go to drag an item on Mac and the little green plus ot appears to say essentially 'you can drag here'... well this appears when I try and drag into the 'Event Library', but then a warning/notification screen appears saying "The Files will not be imported.  Photos cannot be imported to the Event Library. Try dragging directly to your Project" .... Well I would if it let me, but it doesn't.
Is anyone else having this problem or has experienced this and has a solution please.
This has wasted more hours than I care to give it, and is doing my head in.
    Thank you

  • How can i set each still image to show for 1 frame?

im trying to create a 60fps timelapse but i just can't get each image to show for less than 2 frames, i've gone to edit>preferences>import and set the still footage length to 0:00:00:01. and i've set the sequence footage to 60fps(although i'm not positive what this does)
i then bring my photos down to create new composition set it to 0:00:00:01 still duration and then each photo shows for 2 frames, any ideas?
    thanks a lot!

If you import a single frame as an image sequence it will be 2 frames long.
If you import an image sequence as an image sequence you won't be able to see the individual frames in the timeline as being 2 frames long. However, if your composition is set to 60 fps and the image sequence is interpreted as 30 fps, when you step through the footage there will be pairs of identical frames. Change the interpretation to 60 fps and the image sequence will be half as long but each frame will be unique.

  • Quality issues when importing still images as frames for animation

    hello,
i've imported roughly 600 hand-drawn and scanned (600 dpi) images as frames for video. the images themselves are really crisp and perfectly how i want them to appear. i've imported each to play for 2 frames then move to the next. once done, i save this video file as an .avi. i then repeat the process in order to layer the video (using Calculations filter) over and over again, to fill up the screen with overlapped, layered animations. in theory, these layers should all remain crisp, just like the scanned images. i was under the impression that the standard Export... > Movie... .avi file is essentially lossless and is best for editing, however when my process is completed, the final product is muddy, grainy, and pixelated. i'm not sure where i am going wrong, as i've actually done this process before with success.
is there a way to specific the working file as "high definition" or something similar so that the quality is just as crisp as the scanned images i am using as source
any help is appreciated - i am completely self taught in video editing and it is really bugging me that the file output is not how i envisioned.
    thanks,
    DB

I note you specified that the images were 600 dpi.  The dot per inch are an issue only for printing a hardcopy.  For video work, the issue is the pixel dimensions and the pixel aspect ratio. If your image is 600 pixels by 400 pixels with a PAR =1.0. If your sequence is 1440 x 1080 with a pixel ratio ratio of 1.33, then the images must be the same and PrPro must scale up the image.  You can get good images from imported stills in PrPro. I prefer to rescale my images using Photoshop.  I am told that the scaling algorithm in PrPro has been improved.  But regardless, if you are scaling up, you will see degradation becauae Prpro has to interpolate between pixels to fill the video frame.

  • Sharpness of still images into iMovie

    Hi,
I have used iMovie for two years, thought I had encountered all the bugs. However, I am now having an issue with the sharpness of still images from iphoto to iMovie. I use a lot of still images in presentations and for some reason any current photos which are loaded into iMovie are blurry and not near the same clarity as viewed in iphoto. This has never happened before! Any assistance would be appreciated.. thank you

    thank you for the reply
However, I have uploaded thousands of photos from iphoto to imovie in the last two years, all various megapixels. This is a new occurrence, clarity is blurred or not sharp when uploaded photos are viewed in the Photos screen in iMovie and then applied to the timeline. Once in the timeline, the resolution of the photo is not nearly as sharp. Hope this makes sense.....

  • When I try to change the start position for a still image in iMovie, nothing happens. I cannot see the full picture no matter what I try. Any help?

I have been using iMovie on my ipad for a while. When I add a still image to a movie, it adds close up, with only the enlarged center portion of the picture showing. I try to zoom out after tapping the Start button (Ken Burns), but there is no change. There's also no change with the End button.
    Any suggestions?

For reasons only known to Apple, you cannot zoom so far out of an image as to create black areas.
So sadly you cannot zoom out to show the full image.
The only work around is to edit the photo in a photo editing app, and add Black bars on the sides, or top and bottom till the image is the 16:9 aspect ratio.
