Adding a TV monitor.

I have a modified Gateway fx640.  I have swapped out the ati video card that came with the computer with a GTX 460 (I have 2 gateway computer monitors connected to the card).  I have 16 gb's of ram.  It came with a 500 watt power supply.  The motherboard has a dvi output.
Can I use the mobo output to connect to a 22" hd tv, or do I need a separate video card?  Either way, will there be a performance hit on editing?  Any info will be appreciated.

I found that the Thunderbolt input accepts the mini-DVI (in my case converter to VGA for a tutorial use monitor)
BUT, you have to really oush it in 'til it clicks.  I thought it too loose until I tried it.  works just fine!!

  • Adding a 3rd Monitor to a Power Mac G5

I am curious as to how - and if - I can add a 3rd monitor to my G5.
Currently I have an ATI 9650 Graphics Card and it runs my 2 23" CD wonderfully. I have been considering adding a 3rd monitor if possible and getting a 30" to have in the middle of the 23's.
Does anyone have knowledge or experience in doing this. It doesn't necessarily have to be a 30 in the middle, another 23 would suffice.
    Thanks in advance!!!

To my knowledge, the ATI 9600 PCI is currently the only PCI based
video card that can be used in the g5
This turns out not to be the case. Any 3.3 volt PCI card will operate in a G5 PCI slot. This should include Radeon 7000, 9000, and 9200 PCI cards. I'm using a PCI Raedon 7000 in my G5 this moment. With my 2-head 9600, I can run 4 displays.
    7000 PCI = VGA + DVI
    9600 AGP = ADC + DVI
I am skeptical that any PCI card has an ADC port. The PCI 2.x spec doesn't provide for powering an ADC monitor, so I suspect an ADC display can be driven from only an Apple-AGP slot or a standard PCI-Express slot.

  • Adding 2 extra monitors

I'm running a Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz
    with an ATY, RadeonX1900
I've got an extra monitor plugged into the extra DVI out. How tricky is it to run TWO extra monitors; or what additional hardware would I require? Is there any way to run it from this setup without having to purchase a Kona (or similar) card?
    All ears...
    Ben

You can plug in as many monitors as you have video out ports. If you want more video ports, plug in more video cards. If you have three video cards with two ports each, you can connect six monitors. Mac OS doesn't make a distinction between adding a second monitor and adding a 15th or a 23rd, and it's been that way for years.
If you want to add monitors without buying more cards, you could possibly use one of the USB-based DisplayLink extenders like the ones Matrox makes. You would plug this into a USB port and plug your monitor into that. However, using one is kind of a waste of a Mac Pro because they are significantly slower than "real" video cards and lack advanced graphics support. If you are only using these external monitors for simple things like web and email windows, then a DisplayLink solution might be acceptable.

  • Extending the desk top, adding a second monitor/screen

    Hi,
I bought an Apple Mini-DVI to VGA adapter that allows me to plug my 20" vga monitor into my imac so that I can have more screen space. I had hoped to be able to drag files over to the 20" screen. That works, but when plugged into my imac, the 20" screen is blurry, and I can't look at it for more than five minutes without getting a headache. If I hook up the 20" screen to my pc, I can work on it all day.
I got the idea to add my 20" monitor to my imac after reading posts here on the forum, which all gushed about how great the result was. I went into the Genius Bar to ask about the blurriness I was experiencing, and they told me to call Apple Care. Apple Care didn't know what to do, and after putting me on hold several times, they said the blurriness was "normal distortion" from the adapter. Well, then in my opinion, the adapter is useless.
Is there anything I can do, or should I return the adapter?

Thats strange, I have the same set up as you and the second monitor works fine with the Mini-DVI to VGA adaptor. The only thing i could suggest would be to try connecting another monitor to the Mac and see if you have the same problem. If not, it must be the monitor.

But while testing RFC connections before saving, it giving following erros :
SC4_RZ20_COLLECT_195119Error when opening an RFC connection

Error during remote call of SALC function: Error when opening an RFC connection
Error during remote call of RFC1 function: Error when opening an RFC connection
Are these errors of any concern?
or shall i go ahead and save the entries?
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
ssue has been fixed after following
SAP Note 1453112 - CCMS agent and kernel: patches 2010
1:) Here we first performed kernel upgrade then re register agents as per note.
2:) While for mentioned error during remote monitoring entry we checked in path
Tcode-> sm59-> TCP/IP connectiones -> then in RFC destination SAPCCM4X.<SID>.<instance no> and found destination information was not correct so we corrected as
    SAPCCM4X.<monitoring system id>.<instance no> then
then perform remote monitoring entrory steps via RZ21 and issue got resoulved

  • Adding 2 more monitors to HP p7 1435 pc

I want to run a third monitor on my HP Pavillion p7 1435 desktop computer. When I hook the third one up using a USB Video adapter...it shows that its there but unable to get it to function at all

Hello kosmond62.  I understand you're trying to get a third monitor to work.
How are the other two monitors connected?
What USB video adapter are you using?
If you remove one of the other two monitors does the USB video adapter work?
What version of Windows are you using?
Have a wonderful day.  I'll be keeping an eye out for your reply.

  • Adding A 2nd Monitor?

    Hi all,
I have two old G4 towers (see data below). I'm considering consolidating them.
I'm wondering if I can take the graphics card out of one G4, and install it in the 2nd G4, and then run two monitors at the same time.
Does the graphics card do all the work of powering a monitor? Or will the G4 processor have to work harder to display images across 2 monitors?
My wish to use two 19 inch monitors at once, to double the viewable area, more room for windows etc.
Am I on the right track? Will this work?
I assume it would be easy to move the hard drive and RAM from the one G4 to the other? How about the DVD drive?
I'm planning to hire a local college student who does Mac repairs. Should I assume these are all fairly easy jobs, no big deal?
    Many thanks for any advice!
    Machine Model: Power Mac G4
    CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.9)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 533 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
    Memory: 512 MB
    Bus Speed: 133 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.1.1f1
    Serial Number: XB10209EKAN
    RAM: 512 MB
    Type: SDRAM
    Speed: PC133-333

What type of 19" displays do you intend to use - standard 4:3 aspect ratio or 16:9 widescreen? With (2) graphics cards, you can run dual displays to enable the second display to extend the desktop for twice the viewable screen. Unfortunately, your G4s both have graphics cards installed in an AGP slot - of which there is only one in each computer. An AGP card can't be installed in a PCI slot, which is the only option in your G4s for a second graphics card. You'd need to purchase a Mac-compatible PCI graphics card and install it in an available slot. The hard drive and memory can be easily transferred from one to the other. The DVD-ROM drive from one could be used to replace the existing optical drive in the other G4 (assuming that it doesn't already have a DVD drive), but you can't easily add a second optical drive to that G4 without substantial modifications to the metal chassis (Zip drive) bay and the plastic optical drive faceplate. I'd replace the DVD-ROM drive with a DVD±RW drive (like this one), so that you could read and write to DVD disks.
All of these upgrades can be easily performed by someone who is familiar with Macs.

  • Adding a extra Monitor

    HP TouchSmart 310-1124f Desktop PC
I have the above computer, and I would like to add a 2nd Monitor but it's not touch screen I do the Weather here in my area, and a Weather Spotter, I would like to add the 2nd Monitor so that I can keep my Radar, Weather Station up all the time, and stop flipping back and forth between browsers.  How can I add the 2nd Monitor that is older Moniter it does not have a USB cable, it's the older type monitor plug.
    Thank you

    PSURob,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
I am not an owner of this system type -- I must assume it will in some way support a USB monitor.
I don't know what kind of monitor connector you have -- you can buy a converter for almost anything these days.  Adapters do not cost a great deal, although I would not buy the cheapest one you can find -- one tends to get what one pays for.
For example:  Use your favorite search engine and search (to start) for "usb monitor converter" or "usb to vga adapter" if you know your old monitor provides a VGA connector.
    Your System Resolution: 1600 x 900 (16:9 aspect ratio)

  • Adding second VGA monitor

    Hi -
I recently purchased the 20" intel imac. When I purchased it I also purchased the mini DVI adapter to connect to a television - that works great. I also wanted the option of setting up a second monitor with my computer. I have two older VGA monitors (one is a cybervision c50 and the other is an old mac monitor.) I purchased a mini DVI to VGA adapter and hooked up the second monitor - the computer recognized the monitor was present but I couldn't get an image on the monitor. Thinking it was a bad adapter I exchanged it at the Apple store for another one. I hooked the new one up and had the same problem - I tried it with both monitors I have - both were recognized by the computer but both screens remained black.
Does anyone have any thoughts about why this is happening?

Yes - I did power up all of the monitors -
I also tried selecting the mirror option -
My thought is that since the other adapter works with my television that it is not a problem with the video out of the computer - unless there is something I don't understand about the way it works so.......
I either purchased two bad adapters - or
there is some compatability issue with older vga monitors - would this be possible?

  • Adding Concurrent Request monitoring to an application

I am trying to implement just the concurrent request monitoring and did the exact steps as described in the OA Dev. Guide. Also, I am passing the requestID as an additional parameter to the request monitoring page. I am using a fireAction to get the request id that the user clicked on and doing the following
    HashMap params = new HashMap();
    params.put("requestID",requestId);
    pageContext.forwardImmediately("FNDCPVIEWREQUEST", (byte)0, null, params, true, this.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_YES);
I am getting the following errors when it gets into the request monitoring page,
    # Method findChildIndex cannot find the child with the given itemName.
    # The window title attribute for the page layout region has not been set. This attribute value will be used for the browser window title and should be set according to the UI standards. A default window title will be displayed for all such pages that violate the standards. Action: Set the window title or title attribute for the page layout region. The title attribute is used as a secondary source for the window title if the window title is missing.
Also, it is not filtering the results with the requestID that I passed.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Nat

Just a thought before you can goto support is that you can create a function of your own with the given akRegionCode and other values. Give it a try with your function call or check if the provided seeded function is correct in all aspect, at times seeded values are corrupted.

  • Adding an additional monitor m

I have an 22" HP TouchSmart PC and I would like to have a second monitor attached to help me on some video tutorials. Is there a way to do that on my computer. If so, how? My email is [email protected]

    hey,
i've recenty bought a usb->dvi adapter to my TS 600-1210. it works like a harm. I'm able to output mkv via extended desktop mode at full 1920x1080p@30 on my lcd tv, it consumes huge amount of cpu power but it works like there was a normal two headed graphic card inside

  • Adding monitors to a laptop

i just added an additonal monitor to my laptop and i need a second one to total three. They all need to be capable of showing different windows at the same time, is this possible? I dont have another VGA outlet on my laptop, is there an adapter. Also, since I attached the 1st monitor, my computer will go to a blue screen and I have to shut it down and reboot. Is there, is there some other software that I need, none came with the monitor. Thanks

Adding a third monitor port will be difficult.  You MIGHT be able to find an ExpressCard video card, or you can get a DisplayLink USB video adapter.  The ExpressCard solution will perform much better than the USB solutions.  The USB solutions will only be useful for basic word processing and spreadsheet tasks - you will NOT be able to play video on them or do anything 3D.
As to the bluescreen - no clue, shouldn't be happening.  Update your video card drivers is about the only reccommendation I can give.

  • How do I use my second monitor when first monitor in full screen??

  • Dual monitor setup on imac G5 only works in mirror mode

Hi, I have an iMac G5, 2Ghz. I have added a second monitor but when I go to Displays, I don't get an option to setup the monitors like I do on my Intel iMac. The G5 goes into mirror mode and displays the same image on both monitors. I would like to setup the second monitor to extend my desktop.
    Thanks!

    Your iMac is perfectly normal.
For a long time, Apple's "pro-grade" Macs like the PowerMac towers and the PowerBooks allowed extended desktop settings; the "consumer-grade" machines like the iBook, eMac and iMac had only video mirroring.
The better handling of external displays on iMacs did not start until the Intel Macs appeared.
There may be third-party software solutions available but I don't know where to point you
