Adding an image to email message

How do I add an image to an email message? I see how to change the font color and background color, but cannot see how to add an image. I am not able to copy and paste an image into the email (and actually cannot copy and paste ANYTHING into an email, that's another question I guess). I would really like to add an image to an email, however, and just can't see how to do this!

Assuming you are using Verizon Webmail for your email, as far as I know you cannot attach any files if you are using the Basic version. However, if you are using the Rich version, you should be able to add attachments using the Attach box above the email you are creating.
To check which version you are using, under My Settings click on the General tab and see what is shown for Desired Interface. If it is Basic, you can change it to Rich and you will now have the ability to attach files. Note that Rich takes more bandwidth on your internet connection, so unless you have DSL service or better you will probably not be satisfied with the performance. But if you try Rich and you aren't satisfied you can always switch back to basic.

Adding PDF File to Email Message

When I attempt to add a PDF file to an email message (via Outlook) I get the following error message, after which the program shuts down: "The instruction at 0x6148f787 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read." Please Help!

It runs in a Window titled Outlook all by itself. Guess I'm an idiot because I still can't find the version. Anyway, this problem only happens when I'm using IE. When I use Firefox, I can attach a PDF file to an email message just like I used to do using IE.

How to NOT embed attached image into email message...

Hi all, I am using nokia E6 anna as my workhorse. One problem I come across is that when I use Nokia Mail (@ovi.com) to send email with photo attachment, the receiver will get the email with that photo embedded into the message, rather than an attachment download option at the end. It causes inconvenience as sometimes I use the phone to send 8MP photo via email and such attached photo "stretches" the message big at the receiver side.
However, if I use mail for exchange with gmail to send photo, everything is OK, the attached photo doesn't embed into the message.

Thanks for the quick response.
Contact your local Care line who will be able to reset your Nokia Messaging account. This will most likely fix the issue if removing and adding the Ovi account hasn't worked. They will also be able to help you out if resetting the account doesn't make a difference.
In regards to the maximum email download size, this option is indeed not included in the E6. When developing an update we will always take the comments on the boards into consideration, so thank you for your feedback.

Adding company logo to email messages?

I'd like to add my company logo to my Apple Mail Signature, but I'm not sure how to do this without it becoming an attachment. I'm assuming I'll need to include a link to an external website that stores the logo. If so, is there a way I can use my iDisk account to facilitate this?

I would use a JPG but you could use a PNG or a GIF. If the logo has been created in Photoshop or Indesign (doesn't really matter how it has been created really) but a compressed image will save a bit of space.
Something to be aware of is that some Mail servers are set up by some companies to convert HTML or rich text emails into plain text so any image may end up as an attachment in that scenario. While it might look nice and pretty when it leaves you, that may not be the case when delivered.

As far as I know, OWA doesn't include the ability to insert images into signatures.
However, you can create a signature that contains an image, provided the image is on a web server accessible from the Internet and you paste the rendered HTML into the signature. For more information, please refer:

I want to add an image as the email footer. I'm using messaging server 2005Q4. I saw a thread about how to add a disclaimer, is pretty similar but with text. Does anybody has done this before? any help will be appreciate it.

How do I insert an image within an email message, instead of attaching it?

I'm always receiving emails with images right in the email message but when I send an image with an email message I always have to send it as an attachment because I don't know how to put the image right in the email message.

That's how DW was designed initially and, for standard websites, that works very well. Unfortunately DW has never been great for email newsletters and its handling of external image links has always been spotty to bad depending on what you're doing.
For html emails, I normally work with local versions of the images until it's time to "go live", then I swap out the image sources from local to the ones on the server as the last step from Code View.
It's not ideal, but it works better than trying to get the http links to display the images correctly without opening/closing the file or program repeatedly.

Adding a rounded dropshadow effect behind a HTML email message

Hello. I am looking to add a rounded corner box with a dropshadow effect behind a HTML email message. I got it working great in gmail with four corner images and repeating background slice for the sides and top and bottom. The problem is background images do not work in Hotmail and a few other email clients. Anyone have any suggestions as how to achieve this? Thanks.

Ah, "the client wants it". That factor has led to more bad design decisions over the years than I can count.
The client needs to understand that there are literally hundreds of millions of email users with hundreds of millions of different settings for their accounts, and there is now way imaginable in heaven or on earth to FORCE all desired styling and content to appear in every possible viewer's email when they open it. On a local network maybe, but not the entire world. So, ultimately they're asking you to design something that far less than tenth of one percent of possible recipients may (not will, but may) ever see.
It's a bit like asking you to paint an elaborate mural inside a closet and then they lock the door and break the key off in the knob. You did a great job on it but no one will ever see it.
I don't work for Microsoft or Google, or Yahoo or Opera (or any of the hundreds of thousands of proprietary hosted email services out there), so I couldn't venture even a wild a guess as to how to force their servers to display content for a single insistent client somewhere.
I'm sure this has been tried unsuccessfully many many times in the past, but I seriously doubt it's been "done" universally. I've seen a few dozen people here who've tried it and tried it, and eventually gave up because they realized just what I just laid out... was true.
If the client still insists, politely explain to them that they are defeating their purpose in adding all the fancy effects because of the minute number of people who will ever see them. Invisibility is not the purpose of promotion, and if promotion is the purpose of the emails, making them invisible won't help.

You can't.
All photos transferred from your computer are stored in the Photo Library. The photos in the album or albums below are not duplicates - they include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. This way you can view the photos in a particular album only by selecting the album, or you can view all photos available in all albums by selecting Photo Library.
Just as with an iTunes playlist. A song cannot be in an iTunes playlist unless the song is in the main iTunes library. Placing a song in a playlist does not duplicate the song. Remove the main iTunes library or the songs from the main iTunes library that are in a playlist and the songs will no longer be in the playlist either. This way you can listen to the songs in the playlist only by selecting the playlist, or all songs in your entire iTunes library by selecting Music under Library in the iTunes source list.
The same with iPhoto on a Mac. A photo cannot be in an in iPhoto Event or Album unless the photo is in the main iPhoto library. Placing a photo in an Event or Album does not duplicate the photo. This way you can view the photos in an iPhoto Event or Album only by selecting the Event or Album, or all photos in all Events or Albums.

How to attach image files to an email message?

I use Mac Mail. When I attach an image file to an email message, the recipient gets it embedded in the message and not as a separate attachment. I'm assuming that the recipient uses a Windows computer, and I always send Windows-friendly attachments. What do I have to do to ensure that attachments are not embedded in an email message?

I added an image as a signature which works great if a compose a email, however, the image signature is not added when I reply to an email?

I've added a image as a signature when a set up my email account. This image is successfully added when I compose a new email. When I reply to an email, the image is not added and I have to copy it manually from a newly composed email. I assumed that there should be a way around this?

Goto Account Settings and look under the section Composition & Addressing. There are two tick boxes for including signatures in replies and forwards.

I am trying to put an avatar and signature on my email messages. The mail Help files tell me to go to Mail-preferences and click signatures. When I got to Mail- preferences I don't see any options for clicking signature-only account information, special preferences and advanced. Please advise. Thanks much.

When you are in Mail Preferences, from the menu, click on View, then select Show Toolbar. Then you will see the Signature panel.
