Adding angles in multicam

In the manual I found instructions on adding an angle to an existing multicam clip. I was able to add it in the angle edtior, but it's not showing in the angle viewer. Any suggestions?

It seems to be working now...either closing and opening the angle viewer fixed it, or "set monitoring angle" in the new track in angle editor.

  • Adding angle to multicam clip

    Hi
I have searched the internet and this message bord, but haven't found a good way to solve my problem.
I have shot a wedding ceremony with two cameras and one external audio recorder.
I have tried creating a multicam clip using these three angles, syncing them all with the audio angle. The first angle syncs fine, the second angle is not syncing at all, instead it adds all the smaller clips in weird order (not even according to the created time, even though they were all shot with the same camera).
I have a different part of the same wedding using the same angles that works fine. I think the main problem is that the first camera next to the altar and the audio recorder is close to eachother. The second camera was handheld among all the guests and therefore pics up a lot of background noise and whispering. But the sound of the priest and all the speeches are clearly audible.
    So, the questions:
    1. Is there a way to improve the sound so they can sync automatically?
    2. If not, can I somehow sync angle 1 and the audio and then add the second angle and sync it manually to the audio? Problem here is if I add all the clips, they get inserted in one row instead of with gaps according to created time.
    3. I tried adding "first markers" to the first clip of every angle and syncing them, but the second camera still is completely off.
Any ideas how to do this or do I have to add every single clip and manually sync it?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Multicam editing - angles in multicam don't show video

Hi, I have FCX 10.0.8 and when I create multicam event and make sure the clips are syncronized and angles underneath each other. The angles viewer set to 2 or more angles doesn't show the video as I play it or scroll through it at all!
I used that before for multicam editing no problem. I created new apple library files, reinstaled the system and uninstaled and instal new final cut x again in order to fix it, no joy..
Thinking if any plugin could cause it or previous magic lantern issues.. anyone can HELP PLEEEEASE??

I thought of posting it, well hoping someone know what to erase, reinstal or do, as I nearly tried everythink, sure it will be a some weird small thing in the end..:(  here is the screenshot with opened video in angle viewer, cursor
set to see both angles. only black windows..
here is the second screenshot with cursor in the same place with angles editor closed.
any ideas why is it still showing black windows in viewer?

  • Audio pops/clicks when changing angles in multicam clips

I am having problems with audio pops/clicks when working with angle switching in multicam clips. it always occurs when i utilize any of the "audio enhancements" features, such as the loudness or background noise removal features. Switching angles results in audible audio pops. The only way to get rid of them is to disable the audio enhancements. This occurs regardless of the audio source. Is this a known bug that is being addressed? I rely heavily on the audio editing features in my work and am hoping this will be resolved in an update soon. Thanks for any help-

Hi Brad, thanks for the reply!
That sounds like a good workaround. What I have been doing in the meantime is create a new compound clip after I finish all of my cuts, and then apply the audio edits to the new contiguous audio clip in the compound clip.
What is really strange and frustrating is that all of my new audio bugginess really began when I could no longer detach audio from my multicam clips in 10.0.9... After doing many searches here, it seems that in this most recent update of FCPX this is no longer a 'feature'... I don't know why they changed this, but in older updates of FCPX you could detach audio from original clips, compound clips, or multicam clips with no problems. I would routinely create and edit all of the angle cuts in my multicam clips in the timeline, and then if I wanted to, be able to detach the audio and do more edits if needed. Thankfully I can still apply edits to compound audio clips, but it would sure be nice if I could just correct/enhance audio without ugly-sounding artifacts in multicam edits. Thanks again-

  • How can I use the specific camera's audios in Multicam?

Hello, I am fairly new to PremPro and I am trying to put together a multicam piece.
The piece is me and my friend playing a game, he recorded his screen and game audio and I did the same.
    Camera1 - My Angle & Audio
    Camera2 - My friends Angle & Audio
The main issue im having is that I cant get the audio for the specific angle to play ONLY when that angle is up.
I tried a few ways but I couldn't get it.
EG. This is without changing any settings, just making the multicam sequence then switching angles in multicam window.
My angle is up and I hear my audio, when I switch to my friends angle, I can only here my audio and not his.
EG. This is enabling the sound on both videos before adding to new sequence.
When any angle is up I hear both audios.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Any Ideas anyone?
    please...

  • Multicam Clip Audio Channel config greyed out

I shot an interview with two cameras.  One of those cameras had the audio (lav on left, boom on right).  That audio was imported as a stereo track on import, the angles where multicamed, and the edit happened.
Now I have a timeline with all my audio playing in stereo (lav on left boom on right).  I want to change from stereo to dual mono so I can audio mix properly, but when I select the multicam clip in the timeline, the channel configuation in the inspector lists it as stereo and the dual mono option is greyed out. (don't know why they won't let me change here)
I can go back to the event and select the multicam clip there and change it to dual mono and it will also change in the timeline.  So that seems like a work around, but I can't select MULTIPLE multicam clips in the event and batch change the channel config to dual mono.  Says "selected clips are from different multicam clips."
Am I going to have to select every single multicam clip individually in the event browswer and change the channel configuration on each one?

As far as I understand it, you cannot switch a "container" clip like the multicam to dual mono since it contains a clip which is stereo inside it. This makes sense, as per se it is not the multicam that is stereo or not.
You should make the change from stereo to dual mono in the actual AUDIO clip - either before creating the multicam, or after - in this case, after :-)
Open the multicam clip in Angle Editor (control-click the clip in the timeline and choose "Open in Angle Editor").
Now select the clip that contains the audio and make the change. Note that this WILL affect the relevant clip even outside the multicam.

  • Is there a way to show two angles at the same time in the final edit rather than switch between them with Multicam?

Can I show two angles at the same time in the final edit rather than alternate with Multicam?

Stack two clips on top of each other and reduce the sizes. I think that's what you want.

  • How to keep just the selected angles in a multicamera sequence??

    Hello,
Is there any way to "uncollapse" ala Final Cut for lack of another word, the multi camera clips??
I just want to keep in the sequence the selected angles and not be in a multi camera nested environment type thing.
If I disable the mutlicamera what stays is completely different to what I selected.
    Thanks a lot

Greg, check this article about multicam. This is the same thing I was saying.

And no way to commit or collapse those multicam edits
One other thing that is missing from Premiere Pro CS6’s multicam editing is a way to commit multicam edits (as Avid Media Composer calls it) or collapse multiclips (as Final Cut Pro 7 calls it) when you’re done with an edit. This function basically replaces all group clips (as Avid calls them) or multiclips (as FCP7 calls them) with a normal, single clip in the timeline. This can be very important if you’re sending out AAFs or XMLs to another finishing system as multicam-type clips might cause some problems on conform.
It looks like PPro CS6 has something similar because if you right+click on a multicam clip and look at the Multi-Camera submenu there’s an option to Enable:
When you toggle that Enable check mark and disable the multicam clip it doesn’t “commit” that clip to the timeline but rather it seems to default to whatever clip is on the top most video layer in the Multi-Camera Source Sequence timeline. That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me but I think that’s a holdover from the older PPro versions when you had to edit a sequence into a sequence and then enable Multi-Camera to make it work. If Adobe wants to make Premiere Pro play nice with conform and finishing applications (and I think they do) then some way to collapse/commit multi-camera edits to a timeline with one swift click will help.

  • How do I share all angles of a multicam project versus a single stream

I have a project in which I am trying to demonstrate the impact of diferent filters/settings across 4 cameras.  I have captured and syncronized all four cameras using an audio track.  So far no problem.  I however cannot determine how to export/share the the final project so that all four cameras are seen in a 2x2 setting, very similar to what is seen during the multicam editing process.  I only see how to produce a single stream which allows me to switch/cut between the various angles (if I were so inclined to do so..)
Thank you in advance for the help.

    Hello Tom;
Thank you very much, and yes, I am using Multicam to sync the stream.  Your reply definitly moved the ball down the field.  However, while in the red zone, I have one final problem.
With 4 streams overlayed in a multicam clip, when I attempt to crop or otherwise resize one of the 4 streams, I am not seeing the next stream below.  I suspect this is because I produced the stream as a multicam versus Compound Clip.  Here is a picture of what I am seeing:
Assuming my hunch is correct, I am left with a dilema:  I need to have all four clips syncornized.  Multicam addressed this.  However, I now need to be able to transform/crop the individual clips into 4 concurrent views which I believe can only be accomplished via compound clip.
Any thoughts on how I can achieve my goals?
Also always, think you in advance for the support.

  • CS6 Multicam Edit - Is there a way to turn off some camera angles when the system gets strained?

I'm doing a multicam edit in cs6 and the 5 camera angles I have are straining my system.  I have two main angles and three kind of back up go pro angles that I don't need most of the time.  But I don't want to get rid of them either.  Is there a way to turn off monitoring some of the angles at times so that video will playback smoother?  Then when I need the other angles, switch them back on when I want?  The video is so choppy with all 5 angles monitoring at once that multicam editing is basically impossible.  I'm editing on what's supposed to be a very fast system at work but it's not fast enough...Thanks!

I'm not aware of any way to do this. You might want to invest in a battery case if this is a problem for you; our users here all have them.
Please submit your feature request to Apple at this link: http://www.apple.com/feedback; I agree it's a good idea.

  • Multicam - viewing all angles in the sequence

OK, I am a novice when it comes to multicam on FCP.
I can't seem to figure this small thing out...Can you NOT see all the angles of a multiclip while the footage is in the SEQUENCE? I know that you can see all the angles in the VIEWER, but I want to drop the whole 2 hours onto the timeline, and trim and swap angles there. But I can't see all the angles while watching in the CANVAS I have a Convocation, with a line cut and three ISOs, and I just want to cut away to the other angles when, well, I want another angle.
Not possible? How should I approach this?
    Thanks,
    Shane

    OOoooo...thanks Michael! Perfect!
Only...I am stuck with a problem. They shot two nights, and the first night all the cameras matched...so that works great. BUT, they want me to use the SECOND night, and what did they do? They used a DIFFERENT CAMERA that shot a DIFFERENT FORMAT. So I can't multiclip. This is a two hour show.
I might transcode the different camera...I think the time taken to do that would make up for me trying to do it via stacking. Ugh...things can never be easy, huh?
    Thanks!
    Shane

  • Trimming a Multicam sequence (not just switching angles)

I've just started using Premiere 5.5 and I'm trying to see if there's a simpler way to achieve what I need with MultiCam editing. Here's my setup:
I have 3 clips, shot simultaneously from 3 different angles, each lasting about 20 minutes. I want to cut between the different angles AND edit out the dead air/blown lines/etc. The final clip will probably be around 5 minutes.
If I was editing a single clip, I would simply pull it up in the Source Monitor, use Mark In/Mark Out to "grab" the good pieces, and then Insert/Overwrite that footage into the Timeline. Simple no-nonsense way to edit 20 minutes down to 5. But with MultiCam editing, the entire 20-min original footage is already nested in the sequence, and the editing is simply choosing camera angles. If I want to trim the footage in addition to choosing camera angles, it appears I have to go into the TimeLine itself and do all my trimming and dragging from there.
Is there a way to preview the MultiCam footage in the Source Monitor and simply Insert the pieces you want into a brand new sequence? (In addition to choosing the different angles for each piece?) For me, that seems MUCH simpler than having the entire sequence on the Timeline itself and chopping out 75% of it after the fact.
I might be missing something obvious, so please let me know! I've checked out several different Video Tutorials from Adobe but they all focus on a Multicam edit of choosing different angles with no real cuts within the footage itself.
    Thanks,
    Rich

Not exactly. But there is a workflow that accomplishes what you want in a slightly different way.
What I typically do is to nest the multi-cam edit sequence into what I call a "target" sequence. Then I do my timeline editing on this target sequence. Why? So if I screw it up I don't have to start over from scratch and redo my camera angle choices all over again. I can just delete my target sequence, then create a new one, nest my multi-cam edit sequence in this new one, and start over. Repeat as needed until I get what I want. Typically I'll have three or four of these targets, pulling different bits and pieces out of the results of the multi-cam edit, for web videos, teasers, or to isolate a single topic.
Easy enough to do. When you get done picking camera angles, go to the Program Manager window and click on the "new item" icon on the bottom edge of the window. Select "sequence" from the pop up menu, and name it something you can identify like "target". Then click on the multi-cam edit sequence icon in the Project Manager window, and drag that down to your new timeline. Edit at will -- nothing you do in this new sequence will harm or change anything you did in your multi-cam edit sequence. But, if you change things in your multi-cam edit sequence, this changes will trickle down to your target sequence. So you can still adjust your timing on camera angle switches and these changes will show up in your target sequence.

  • Possible to export video of the multicam preview window that shows all of my angles on one screen?

    hello,
i have created a multicam sequence successfully and want to send my client a video showing them all 7 angles playing back in sync.  basically i want to send them exactly what i see on the left half of the screen when i enable multicam view in the program window.  is there a way to do this without having to go back to my original sequence and use the position and scale settings to show all 7 camera angles at once?
i know using the position and scale is not difficult just hoping there is a faster way since the application is already doing exactly what i need when it generates the multicam view in the program monitor.
    thanks in advance

    Hi all
I'm just speculating here, but I am aware that not all .AVI
files are created equally. As I understand it, there are a plethora
of different CODECs (COmpressor/DECompressor) types used to create
them. So I would think it would be entirely possible that the .AVI
in question wasn't created using a CODEC that Captivate is
    understanding.
I'm wondering if you were to try converting the .AVI to a
.SWF using a different utility if you might see better results.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Multicam not adding media

I am trying to create a simple multicam clip using two angles however once I create the clip, I get no video or audio - just a black thumbnail. In the inspector, I get  an option to review a single channel of audio and only have one angle option. Not sure if I need to change a setting or change the way I create the clip. Has anyone experienced this before?
    FCP X 10.1.2
iMac i5 with 32 gigs of ram

Sorry if I am pointing out the obvious, but: did you select two or more clips, control-click and choose New Multicam Clip?
Assuming you did, then your second post is likely on target.
Double-click the multicam clip in the browser to open the Angle Editor.
You are likely to find your clips all in the same angle, one after the other, rather than in two angles.
The way to solve is to give clips distinct Angle names. Select the original clips, and in the Inspector click on Info tab, choose the "Extended View" and enter appropriate names in "Camera Angle" (see the picture below).
