Adding animations to iweb

I'm building a site with iweb and I want to add some images that have animation (gif). each time I add it I get the "player" window so I have to hit play to get the animation to work. Is there a better way to add animation or is there a way to have the animation play automatically and loop?

If you just drop the animation and publish the site, it should be published properly as a .gif and loop properly.
Look at the keyboard in the upper left on this page.

  • Adding pages to iWeb

when adding page to iweb, how do i move the name of the new page off of the top of the home page?  looking to have it on the bottom of the page..  thanks!

Are you referring to the navbar at the top which are links to each page in the site?  If so then you'll have to deactivate (not include)  the navbar on each of the pages in the Inspector/Page/Page pane:
and create your own Text Based Navbar which you can position anywhere.  However, there is a drawback to having the navbar at the bottom:  if the page is longer than the browser's window a visitor would have to scroll down the page to get to the navbar in order to go to a new page. That's not good web page design.
However, if the pages are long then having a navbar at the top and bottom is wise.

  • Video quality of Flash animation in iWeb

I'm inserting a flash movie (html snippet) into my iweb 08 site, but the resolution of the video is not as high as the original .swf file. This is my workflow:
-Go to LiveType and create a scrolling banner.
-Export the movie, then open it in Compressor and encode it with a different format. I do this because I've noticed that some of my LiveType animations don't play in my website if I don't encode them properly. I don't have to do this for any of my regular video files.
-Once I have the video file created, I use Visual Hub to create the .swf (flash) file.
-When I open the .swf file, the quality of the video animation is perfect.
-Then I create the html snippet in iweb 08 by copying and pasting the necessary code to make Flash work.
When I upload my site I can see some degradation in the quality of the video animation. Is not much but it is there... Has anyone seen this before? Is there a workaround for this?

I don't know that much about PC's, but you need to open the browser and click on the preferences, I think in the same way as you would do with a Mac and click on select javascript.
Rather than Firefox, get them to download a copy of Safari for PC from the Apple site.
Other than this I am not really sure of a solution, other than telling them to buy a Mac instead!!

  • Adding widgets to iWeb

    Hi there,
Another question....i have added widgets to my page via the html snippet option on iWeb. What I would like to do is take it a step further and customize the look of the widget. Is this possible??

You would need to alter the html code that you have placed in the html snippet, unless it is custom code, from another site, in which case no.
If you want other designs, go to where you got the widget in the first place and copy and paste the code for a different design.

  • Adding Photos to iWeb

Is it possible to add more than one photo page to a blog in iWeb? I can't seem to do it. I export from iPhoto and it comes up as the generic Apple supplied photo page. Then I try to add images from the media browser and they all come in as text boxes.
Also I've had trouble adding individual images to my blog entries, I drag the photo from the media browser to the entry but it doesn't accept it.
    Help, thanks.

    You have some other options:
    1. You can drag and drop the image from iPhoto into iWeb
    2. Use, from the toolbar: Insert > Choose.. and then select your file, if you know where it is!
    3. Take a look here to see how to export images from iPhoto to a folder/location.

  • Adding code to iWeb

Is it possible to add code to iWeb templates? Using iWeb version 1.1.2.
    Thanks in advance.
    Roy

I then put it back into the folder on my iDisk.
I don't understand what you mean by that. If you open something on your idisk, edit, and save, there is nothing to "put back". It never went anywhere.
Did you do this on the local copy of your idisk? In that case it might not have synched with the real one on .Mac.
I then opened it in my browser (Firefox), and it looked exactly the same as before. I selected view page source to see if it had been erased and the added .html was still there.
If you added html and open the page with your browser and there was no change, there could be two reasons: the html you added was not correct in terms of making the change you wanted, or your browser was looking at the old version of the page from its cache. The latter is very common with Safari and can be fixed by doing Safari > Empty Cache.
If you want to provide the url of the page you have changed with some info about what is not showing up, I'd be happy to have a look.

  • Importing Flash Animations Into iWeb...

I noticed that in the few days I have had the privilege of using iWeb, I have noticed that Flash animations that I have created only show up as links on the page, and not actual Flash animations (meaning, when wanting to show the Flash animations on a website, they only show up as a small link, and don't automatically run on the website....
So, my question is this: Does iWeb support Flash animations? If so, how do you import them into iWeb without them simply showing up as links? Thanks in advance for your swift response....

Just any theme download from a site is not enough. The 3rd party themes must be designed specifically for iWeb and, as such, should have an installer included.
Otherwise, start with either the white, black, or formal themes and use graphic files from those themes to create a custom design.

  • Adding animation as a background for a website

I created my website on photoshop and added the animation on photoshop. I saved it as JPEG and opened it on dreamweaver and when I previewed the webpage the animation was not working.
I want the background to animate from different pictures instead of staying with one picture.
How can I make my background change from different pictures?

    @hyadav and krystyswi:
An animated .gif for a background image is an extremely bad plan. Animated .gifs that size would be enormous and slow down the viewer's browser pretty much no matter what.
    @krystyswi
It sounds to me like you don't need an "animation" per se, but an image rotation script that you place behind your main content? Are you only planning to change from one image to the next, or do you have movement of multiple elements within the animation?
If you are just switching between images, jQuery Cycle 2 would be a good option: http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle2/

  • Adding hyperlinks to iweb

i have a basic iweb site with multiple photo pages. now i'm adding a blog and a movie page. so, the nav bar has each photo page listed (lots) and i'd rather have one link that says "photos" that goes to a separate photo site, then people could navigate to each page.
remember in home page how there's a menu page? is there an equivalent in iweb? (now the address goes straight to the most recent photo page as opposed to giving a menu of all the photo pages.
i also want to add a link to my old homepage site, and going to insert hyperlink isn't working...
    thanks!

    Amy:
Yes you can do that. Create a Photo page, use the blank layout if you'd like, and add text links to the various other photo pages you want to link to. In those other photo pages select the Inspector option to not include that page in the nav bar. I'd done that with my Waassup! page in my Toad Hall site. Just click on the Waassup! button.

  • What is best format for simple text animation in iWeb?

I want to use a simple text animation "movie" in my site using iWeb.  I don't want the controller visible -- and I want the animation to play automatically.  I went to Inspector and checked for it to start automatically, but no effect.  I still have to manually click on it.  The mov file plays fine, but not automatically.
Second question:  is mov the best file format for what I'm tryin to do?  I admit to getting lost with all these formats/codecs.
    Thanks.

Its not so much the movie format that matters as the way in which you decide to play it on your page.
Dragging a movie file onto the iWeb page requires that the visitor has the QuickTime plugin - which a lot of people don't. Flash is not the answer anymore due the fact that iOS devices don't support it unless you provide fallback to HTML5.

  • Adding animated html 5 und js from flash into an existing muse site

    Hi Guys,
i have a problem adding an animated flash content to a muse site.
I have done an animation in flash und published it as a html 5 and a js file. fine!
The next step i do is placing/or importing the html in muse.
but how to put the js within a script tag, and the image i used in flash into my muse site?
    1. issue: when i combine both scripts (html and js in one script) it does not work/the animation does not work.
    2. issue: when i add the js into the page properties html head section it also doesnt work..
so where is the problem? or how can i insert the js correctly? should i also upload the image file? where to upload the image file?
I need this for an ongoing project!
    Thanks

This is a reply to my own message. A work around that will allow our team to move forward is to make a screen capture of a screen capture. We have content experts who are equipped with Camtasia. These folks will make their narrated movies. I'll then capture their movies with Captivate's screen capture by following: Insert > Recording Slide. Google Chrome of course has the Flash player installed by default so I open the mp4 (M4V) or FLV movie via Chrome and use Captivate's Recording Slide, choose Video Demo option. This gets me a Camtasia screen capture into Captivate. Import audio on its own and it matches up with my test of a movie 1 minute long (longer videos might slip out of sync - will test this).
However, the movie does not have the convenient playbar attached, so video navigation/control can be gained via a Captivate playbar for the slide itself. This offers a double set of navigation options b/c I also created my own set of navigation controls with Flash, but with a simple set of instructions users will know to use bottom playbar for video control and my flash buttons for slide navigation. Its a bit clunky, but this is what I have for now until the engineers have time to target the following:

PS I'm sure a simple javascript code could fix this, but for me javascript isn't so easy;)

  • Adding Animation While Waiting

Have a number of CF form pages, which users fill out (formpage.cfm).  These call the actionpage.cfm, which displays the report.
Would like to add animation while the user is waiting for their reports.  Not exactly sure how best to do this with CF9.  Don't use/implement Ajax, but could learn.  If there are other ways, such as java-script, etc., just need to know the best placement for the script (does it go in the formpage or the actionpage .CFM file?, etc.).
Just need to see a few examples of how others have implemented this in the past.  If anyone has some pointers, or sample code to share, that would be most appreciated.  Thank you.
    Gary

Dan, you're still writing CF code?  Good for you.  Thanks for the tip.  We recently cut-over to CF9 from CF7, and wasn't aware of this tag.  It's not the easiet tag to implement.  I tried it, without success.  Followed all the instructions in Adobe's CF9 Reference Guide.   Am trying to use it in a "formpage" to "actionpage" scenario.  I have not used Ajax code before, and that could be my problem.
I have a normal CFFORM template where users make their selections, then click SUBMIT.  That template (mypgm_formpage.cfm) calls (mypgm_actionpage.cfm) which invokes the CFC to run the query, and displays the output.
Per instructions, put all the scripts in the right places, changed my application.cfm file to show "sessionmanagement = yes" (don't have an application.cfc as the instructions indicate).  On my formpage, I added onClick=startProgress() to the end of this line, so it looks like this <INPUT type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit" onClick=startProgress()>.  Then added the <CFPROGRESSBAR tag, per instructions, below that.
However, when I display the formpage, everything below the SUBMIT button disappears from the page, including all my instructions, notes, etc.
I created a CFC to hold the the GETSTATUS function.  The instructions didn't say whether to INVOKE the CFC in the application page, as i normally do with CFCs.  So I tried both WITH and WITHOUT invoking the GETSTATUS CFC.  No difference.
In any case, I tried clicking the SUBMIT button, and got the little yellow "java script error" message.  The program ran, and my report was displayed.  But there was no progress bar.  I must be doing something wrong, or perhaps there is some other AJAX code that is required, not mentioned in Adobe's CFPROGRESBAR instructions.
If any thoughts, I would greatly appreciate it.  In mean time, will take a few AJAX tutorials, and see what I can learn.  Thanks again,
    Gary

  • Adding animated gif to a still image, how do I do this?

I used to know how to do it, but I've forgotten.
Example:  The person who told me how to do it had taken an animated gif (butterfly) and placed it on her breast in a still photo of herself.  I know that she used Image Ready and as I recall, she created the same number of frames of the still image as the animated butterfly and then she somehow merged the two together.  Can someone help, is there a tutorial somewhere?  I'm using 7.0 by the way.
    Thanks,
    Ray
P.S.  I also remember that it had something to do with linking the layers so that you just needed to place the first frame in the sequence and link all the other layers to it, but I'm totally lost now!

I don't believe that PS 7.0 supports animation, 'least I don't know how to use this function if it does.  That is why I remember using Image Ready to do it.  In Image Ready you can use any animated gif file to do what I want, I just can't remember how I did it.  I do remember that I had to take my background image and duplicate it to get the same number of frames as the animated gif file, but I don't remember how I merged the two together.  It had something to do with placing the first frame of the animated gif where I wanted it on my background and then using the link tool in the layer box to link them together, that way I didn't have to place each individual frame of the animation on to the background and avoid an alignment nightmare.  I sure wish I would've taken notes!
    Thank you for your suggestions.
    Ray

  • Adding animation to iBook Author

I hope someone can help me.
I am creating a children's picture book in iBook Author.  I want to add animation which I created in Hype 2.5.1 and converted it into a widget.  I can add the widget OK and the animation works but the background is white so my page layout does not show.
    1.  Is there anyway to make the background transparent?
    2.  Do I have to create the entire page in Hype and import the whole thing into iBooks Author as a widget?
    3.  Is there a way I can add the animation as an animated .gif.
This animation part is new to me and I am having difficulty sorting it out.  I know it can be done because I've purchased some other books to see how other people are handling it and their animation works without the white background.  I just don't know how to do it.
    Please - any suggestions???

Widgets are displayed in their own view so transparency is not possible (to the best of my experiential knowledge). I suspect what you thought was transparency was a screenshot of that page used as the widget's background image. (Painful to update, sure, but it works!) Alternatively, a "page" could be simulated by the HTML widget. A recent title I was reading skinned the widget to look like the book so the widget's simulation felt like it was inline.
Many folks have successfully used Hype to create HTML widgets for iBooks Author titles, so I don't see why you couldn't use Hype for what you need.
Finally, recommended image types are JPEG and PNG. I don't know why GIF wouldn't work, but a simple experiment would tell you whether it would work for you.

  • Adding animated cartoon characters in Captivate 5

Does anyone know if it is possible add animated cartoon characters into Captivate 5.0?  I've done some investigation and believe this can be done using a character builder (detailed on www.mediasemantics.com).  I'm fairly new to Captivate so would appreciate any advice on how to add this type of animation and any problems anyone has encountered do this.
    Thanks

We've also used a product called Toon Boom on a project about a year ago to create animated cartoon characters and add them to a Captivate project.
    http://www.toonboom.com/products/animate/
Though in theory it's also AS2 output, it worked fine in Captivate AS3 content.  Don't know why.
