Adding Application server guide ?
hello friends,
We are having SAP 4.7 x200 ,with MS SQL 2000 .
Our current production server is acting as both database server
and application , now due to performance issues we are planning
to add new application server along with older one ,keeping older as it
(we want to keep older server as database and application and newer one as only application).
I am looking for SAP notes in accordance with above landsacpe configuration .
thanks in advance
jase
Hi Jase,
In your case, you are installing a new Application server which is called Dialog Instance(DI) server. You better go through the original installation guides only, there it will be explained about Central Instance(CI) and DI installations.

Hari.

I couldn't find any resources on Google.... so please advise if possible :)
Given a farm with only one application server, I know that if that server goes down, Central Administration is not accessible. If I wanted to make that tier safer, would it be advised to join a second application server to the farm? If so, how would I make
it so that if the first application server went down, the second one can still have a CA instance?
Thank you so much :)Yes you can add a second application server to host the CA for high availiability. You have to start the Central Administration service on the second application server (and other services running on your first app server since you plan
for high availiability) and you might want to configure the alternate access mapping accordingly.

Which traps are sent by Sun One Application Server?
In the "Monitoring the Sun ONE Application Server" guide (http://docs.sun.com/source/817-1953/agmon.html#18289) there's no detailed information about which SNMP traps are really sent by the Sun One Application Server sub agent. The only thing said is that "The server subagent sends a message or trap to the NMS when a significant event has occurred".
Anyone who knows if there's a list anywhere of these events? Or if there's any further documentation on the subject?
Thanks! In that same document, look for "HTTP Server Monitorable Objects". You will get the the equivalent SNMP traps for those.

Oracle Application Server 10g Installation Guide for Windows
The link to Oracle Application Server 10g Installation Guide for Windows on the OTN Web Site don't work. Using search on site does not turn up any installation document for Oracle Application Server 10g.
How can I find the Installtion Guide or the Quick Installtion Guide for Oracle Application Server 10g for Windows?Hi,
The docs you seek are available through the OTN documentation pages at: http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/index.html.
Click on the link for "Oracle Application Server Release 10g (9.0.4)" and then on the "View Library" link for part B10468_04 - Oracle Application Server 10g Online Documentation 10g (9.0.4.0.0) for Microsoft Windows.
The Docs are located under the Documentation tab.
Alternatively, here is the direct link to the Documentation Tab interface of the Library:

Adding another application server.
Hi Experts,
My company is having 2 system landscape.
DEV & QAS in one and PRD in one server.
in recent years, my company is growing faster.
i.e increasing number of End users and database growth.
and now the task is to add 2 or more application servers.
my doubts about application server are as follows:-
1 *Deploying application server means is tht installation of sap central instance in
new server or installing an Dailog instance ?
2 *How to add new installed application server to the existing land scape ?
3 *how to group up the added application servers in to a group , so that the
user will get connected to sap by tht group of application server?
requesting you to give some inputs on adding new application server and
solution for database growth ?Hi graham,
You mean to say, if i install Dailog instance in new server and connected to lan with same ip class as PRD server. that will appear in SMLG.
so, there is no concept of selecting new server from PRD. i.e by STMS router or RFC .
and after adding the new application server i can create new group in SMLG
(by combining all the application servers, so tht user logons will be distributed.)
is that right.
if any RFC connection has to maintained from PRD to new application server.
please let me know that.
thanking you

Adding JBoss Application Server for Monitoring
How do you add a JBoss Application Server for monitoring? Is there a way to add it silently like silent install of the host target?
It is a manual process, you need to launch Jboss discover UI using Targets > Middlware page.
Also, please use JVMD for more detailed analysis.
You need to specify JARs based on the version of the JBoss -
Note - Please check the support site for exact certified versions of JBoss.
JBoss 4:
dom4j.jar jboss-management.jar jnp-client.jar
jbossall-client.jar jboss-client.jar
JBoss 5:
concurrent.jar jboss-javaee.jar jboss-serialization.jar
dom4j.jar jboss-jsr77-client.jar jbosssx-as-client.jar
jbossall-client.jar jboss-logging-spi.jar jbosssx-client.jar
jboss-client.jar jboss-management.jar jnp-client.jar
jboss-common-core.jar jboss-remoting.jar jboss-integration.jar jboss-security-spi.jar
JBoss 6:
concurrent.jar jboss-management.jar
dom4j.jar jboss-remoting.jar
jbossall-client.jar jboss-security-spi.jar
jboss-client.jar jboss-serialization.jar
jboss-common-core.jar jbosssx-as-client.jar
jboss-ejb-api_3.1_spec.jar jbosssx-client.jar
jboss-integration.jar jboss-transaction-api_1.1_spec.jar
jboss-jsr77-client.jar jnp-client.jar
jboss-logging.jar
If you plan to use JVMD then you should select Remote Agent for discovery/monitoring.
JNDI service should be configured and Naming Service port should be open.
Agent should be able to communicate with the host and JNDI port.
Above list of JARs to be copied on the agent machine (location provided as library path during discovery)
Could you please share customer details and usecases. -

Adding Oracle Application Server to JDeveloper
Hii,
I want to add Oracle Application Server 10.1.2g to my Application Server list in JDeveloper 10.1.3g.
I am stuck in the point where it asks for the "Remote Server's Oracle Home Directory".
Whenever I supply with the path e.g. "D:\OraHome_1", or "\\node1\OraHome_1", it says "Invalid Directory".
The Oracle Application Server is installed in a different computer in the network.
Actually, I would like to add it to my JDeveloper, so that, I can deploy my applications directly through JDeveloper, without having to use the Oracle application Server Enterprise Manager console.
Please help...Log into Oracle Application Server Enterprise Manager and get the correct path from the information of the instance you're intending deploying to (eg. home). You have write the directory path as it is displayed (even UPPER and lower case is important).

Possible bug in JEE Application Server Library MP?
The Beanspy Alert monitor reports alerts with missing data. See example below, specifically the {} returned parameters appear empty/incorrect.
Application server connection lost
Alert Description
Source:
Full Path Name:
Alert Monitor:
BeanSpy
Created:
The Health Service lost the connection to BeanSpy on port {2} to the machine {1} for the application server ID '{0}'.So the next step I took was taking a deep dive into the JBoss.Monitored.Configuration.Discovery scripts and I found that the script tries to find and/or create registry keys about its discovered Jboss instances.
The key being created is: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\3.0\Modules\{GUID}\.\Script\PersistedDiscovery
In that key, values are stored called HTTP and HTTPS.
The persistedDiscovery key is deleted and recreated when you stop the Microsoft Monitoring Agent service and/or flush the health state cache. Thus manually adding the values is no use.
The HTTP and HTTPS values in a Jboss7 instance running domain mode cannot be retrieved because the port configuration is done at the Jboss domain controller and 'streamed' to the Jboss domain hosts.
In JBoss 5 instance however I see HTTP and HTTPS values being inserted into the registry. In a few cases incorrect information about ports is found and added to the registry.
In the Jboss discovery vbs I found the pieces for Jboss5:
' Get the HTTP & HTTPS ports of the JBoss 5 installation that runs a specific configuration
' Do this by adding the offset for the port binding to the base ports found in the XML file
' bindings-jboss-beans.xml located in <configuration>\conf\bindingservice.beans\META-INF\
Apparantly what is written in this file does not actually reflect the running config.
For Jboss7 it appears quite a bit more complex (especially running domain mode):
Step1:
' Get the HTTP and HTTPS ports for a JBoss 7 or Wildfly installation that is running in domain mode
' In order to get the HTTP Ports we must first retrieve the group that the server belongs too, as well as the port offset for each server
' These values both resiode within the host.xml file
Step2:
' We then look within domain.xml to find the profile reference based on the group name that we retrieved from host.xml
' After the profile reference we then can find the socket-bindings for http and https ports
While the information is there, these values are not added to the registry.
Thus, so far the script is looking in the right place to find the used ports for that particular Jboss7 Service, yet the monitor for the BeanSpy is not using that port to contact the BeanSpy.
My investigation continues... -
Saving PDF file into application server
Dear all,
My requirement is retrieving a PDF file from application server and modifying the document and saving it back to the application server through BSP application.
I've retrieved the data from the application server and displayed it in the frame of BSP layout and modified the same (adding signature). We got stuck in saving back the signed document into the application server.
Can anyone guide me in saving back the modified document or how to get the modified file content through BSP.

Trouble creating new application server connection
Hi. I am trying to create a new application server connection in jdev 10.1.3.1.0. I am taking all of the default settings in the wizard, and I am specifiying user name, password and checking deploy password. When I click test connection on the last screen of the wizard I get:
Error while getting remote MBeanServer for url: ormi://localhost:23791/default:
Error reading application-client descriptor: Error communicating with server: Connection refused: connect; nested exception is:
javax.naming.CommunicationException: Connection refused: connect [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect]
Does anybody know how to correct this?
Thank you.Hello Anil,
The error that you are getting indicates that the user that you are using to install the dialog server does not have enough rights to connect to the SAPMNT share of the central instance.
Please do the following:
1.) Make sure that you are using a domain admin ID or a local admin ID that is on both systems with the same password.
2.) Verify that SAPMNT is shared on the central instance by using the "net share" command from a Windows command prompt.
3.) Make sure that the domain admin or local admin group is added to the file level permissions and share level permissions of SAPMNT with full rights.
Also the general install guides will also have instructions on how to install a dialog instance as well.
Hope this helps you,

Application server error (Part 2) - Please Help!
Hi there
Yesterday I made this thread, [Click Here|Application server error - Please Help!;
We installed a application server and it could not locate that host which was fixed by adding the app server name in the host file on the production box. We now have another issue.
I we remove/disable the app server the messages still fail, cause it's looking for the app server host. I checked in ZR10 but nothing there is pointing to the app server.
Is there some other parameter we can check to change the system not to point to the app server but the original production server?
Thanks,
Jan
