Adding Asset Tag information into the Bios from Windows 7

Hi
I am wondering whether there is a utility that will enable me to add Asset tag information into the bios from within windows 7 . We have various models mainly T410 / T420 ' but alos some X201 / X220's
Firstly is there such a utility ?
secondly is there one for all ?
If not is anyone able to suggest how this maybe done . Manual entry at the bios level on thousands of Laptops is just not possible. The end result is for the asset information to be picked up in SCCM and tracked

Change Asset Tag Information

I am trying to find a way to remove/change the asset tag information on a range of Lenovo's.
In my research so far, I have found

A lot of forums say this works in Windows and in Dos. Does anyone have a how to on using this program? I have tried in both Windows and Dos and neither one can I make it work.
Has anyone used this and know it works for what I want? Or does anyone know of a different way to edit the Asset Tag field in the BIOS?

I have seen prompt whether such information is to be updated in doing BIOS updates. Which have been to date via the Windows package. HOWEVER, I would tread VERY cautiously in doing so. Its not for the faint of heart. If a MD is swapped the tech usually applies the serial # too it and not reason to effect any changes since it tied to the warranty.
Have you tried the US support line. If you get through to the American support team you will likely get the info you need. Otherwise try again and again.

Write keyword tag information into your files

Hi!
I have just installed Photoshop Elements10 and a problem has occured!
When writing keyword tag information into files the letters Å, Å and Ö creates problems.
If you for example try to add the tag "Montören" the result is that the word is written two times in the file properties, including once with weird characters, Example: Montören; MontÃ¶ren;.I have tried with different tags that includes letters Å, Ä and Ö and I allways get the same result. I have a Swedish version of Photoshop Elements10.
Can someone advise me on what to?

How did you originally create your tag? For testing, I just created an Instant Keyword Tag containg the letters ÅÄ by copying and pasting pasting the characters from the Character Map, assigned it to a photo, wrote the tag to the file.
The letters do display correctly in the Organizer afterward. Same in IPTC info in IrfanView.

How do you get into the BIOS on a Satellite 320 CDS.

Hi my name is steve I was wondering how do you get into the BIOS on a satellite 320 CDS. As this is my first format on a lap top. Done plenty on desktop computers just never laptops. As some fool tried to do it before me and distroyed it. Now the only thing that happens is after the toshiba logo disappears this message comes up, INVALID SYSTEM DISK, REPLACE THE DISK AND THEN PRESS ANY KEY. It use to run Windows 98 and it worked great for how old it is. Was hoping to put XP on it but its only got a small hard drive (4099mb). So will have to put 98 back on it till I get a bigger hard drive.Only need it to teach my daughter how to respect a laptop. I mainly want to get into the BIOS for format. Any instruction on how to get into the BIOS would be great, as I'm good from there. Thank you in advance for your help.

I don't know the exact method for the Satellite 320 CDS.
But most of the Toshiba notebooks use one of the following methods.
If you see a message while booting "Press F2 to enter setup", do it and you get into BIOS.
Or you have to press ESC while booting, then press F1 when prompted to and you are in the BIOS.

Surface Pro 3 keeps rebooting itself into the BIOS

I have a Surface Pro 3 running 8.1 Ent with the latest firmware / updates. It is a machine that I intend to use for testing so right now there is nothing on it other than the base image (Office 2013 / Adobe Reader X / Trend AV).
Yesterday, while sitting at my desk, I noticed that it was suddenly at the BIOS screen. If I restarted from the BIOS screen, it would cycle, say Surface and then boot right back into the BIOS. Not wanting to spend a lot of time with it, I reimaged it and
figured that should be good.
Today, the machine did the same thing. If I power it completely down from the BIOS and then power it up again, I am able to get back into Windows, but it keeps shutting down and then booting into the BIOS at random intervals.
Being that this isn't my primary machine, I haven't caught it happening. I've taken a quick spin through the event logs and I can find the kernel power events but thus far I don't see anything real relevant right before those events occurred.
Frankly, I have too much to do to spend a lot of time troubleshooting one machine, but as we are looking to start deploying these in the future I figured I would reach out to see if anyone else had a similar experience or had any thoughts on what I could
look for.

I got the same problem today. Solved it by pressing 'VolumeUp + Power' buttons at the same time. Next time I rebooted, it booted normally to O/S instead of the BIOS.
This button sequence is one technique how to enable access the BIOS screen. I believe this button sequence acts as a "toggle" switch, instead of just a "momentary switch" or a once-only switch. I think what happened to me
is that I "toggled-on" this switch, and I kept rebooting to BIOS until I "toggled-off".
This is different behaviour than what I'm accustomed to on PC's, where I have to hit F2 (or F12 or DEL) every time, if I want to access BIOS screen.

Reloading archived data should be an exception rather than the general case, since data should be
archived only if it is not needed in the database anymore. When the archived data target is serving also as a
datamart to populate other data targets, Its recommend that you load the data to a copy of the original
(archived) data target, and combine the two resulting data targets with a MultiProvider.
In order to reload the data to a data target, you have to use the export DataSource of the archived data
target. Therefore, you create an update rule based on the respective InfoSource (technical name 8<data
target name>). You then trigger the upload either by using Update ODS data in data target or by
replicating the DataSources of the MYSELF source system and subsequently scheduling an InfoPackage
for the respective InfoSource
If you want to read the data for reporting or
control purposes, you have to write a report, which reads data from the archive files sequentially.
Alternatively, you can also use the Archiving Information System (AS). This tool enables you to define an
InfoStructure, and create reports based on these InfoStructures. The InfoStructures define an index for
the archive file data. At the moment, the archiving process in the BW system does not fill the
InfoStructures during the archiving session automatically. This has to be performed manually when
needed.
Another way of displaying data from the archive file is by using the Extractor checker (TCODE RSA3).
Enter the name of the export DataSource of the respective data target (name of the data target preceded
by 8), and choose the archive files that are to be read. The extractor checker reads the selected archive
files sequentially. Selection conditions can be entered for filtering but have to be entered in in internal
format
It will remain same in the change log table.

Sooo... How do I get into the bios setup?

Now before you get out the pitchforks and torches, I know I'm supposed to continually press or hold a certain Function key when I first power on a computer.
My cousin left me his old Pavilion a410e. I figured I'd set it up for when family or friends needed to use a computer. Well... when I got everything together and started it up, I got an error. "CPU Fan Failure". (Now you see why my cousin gave the computer to me.) I popped open the case and saw the fan spin up fine when powering the computer. The fan's power connecter and the heatsink/fan are all properly in place. I tried to google for a solution, and came across suggestions to turn off the fan check through bios. The computer came into my hands with the 3.06 bios, and while in that bios menu, the cpu fan options were greyed out (unchangeable). I thought maybe a bios update would change that, so I went ahead and downloaded/installed the 3.10 bios update from HP. It installed fine (I guess), but now I can't get into the bios menu, no matter which key I press. Windows boots up fine, so long as I bypass the CPU fan failure warning by pressing F2. I'd really like to kill that warning. How do I get into the bios menu now, guys?

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

To have our businesslogic manageable, we decided to make use of BPMObjects to more clearly define separation of concerns. However, we still need to be able to access information about the processInstance from the BPMObject. I am able to get information about the activity that invoked the bpmObject, and i am also able to get hold of the process id and name. But I havent been successful in getting the actual instanceId.
I tried Fuego.Lib.ProcessInstance.id.id, but that will only work from an activity, not a BPMObject.

Limitations of trial version 13? I cannot load pictures into the photomerge panorama window either from' browse' or 'add open files'.

On Adobe's web site it states the trial version has all functionality. FAQ, common questions & answers | Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 "These trial versions are fully functional, so every feature and aspect of the product is available for you to test-drive. Product trials can easily be converted for unrestricted use without the necessity to reinstall the software in most cases."
However, I cannot load pictures into the photomerge panorama window either from' browse' or 'add open files'. When I select either way nothing happens.This happens if I enter panorama from photo editor and/or organizer.
Can anybody enlighten me about this?

It seems your Samba is denying access to these files & dirs. My best guess would be that either the Samba user is not allowed to write (and read) those (in which case you'd have to modify the permissions accordingly) or Samba sets, when the share is mounted, the permissions such that your user is not allowed to read and write (you may in this case try to just set permissions for you to allow you what you want to do; or use "create mask" or "directory mask" or "writable" in your samba config. ).
Also, what do the logs say about this? According to your samba conf they are in /var/log/samba/%m.log where %m is the hostname or IP.

I cant log into the icloud from my laptop. Its running Vista 32bit, with service pack 2. The icloud is 2.1.3 for vista.
I enter the log in details and password, and then the 'daisy wheel' comes up, and that's as far as it goes!!
I know the log in details are all correct as I use itunes match on ipad and iphone. I can also share photos between iphone and ipad without an issue.
The Apple store weren't any help (Bath) as its not a Apple laptop!!

You may be to late to start - new android phones have the same protection and by June next year all of them will. Best of luck. If you really apple customer you can find your original receipt and or request a copy and use it as proof to unlock phone. If you didn't purchase from Apple, you still have option to attempt
to look through your icloud accounts and verify that neither one is the one that you need. And if it is not your account and you didn't purchase directly from Apple then you are the victim of Apple's attempt to render stolen/lost phones useless, to bring down theft. Question if you deserve it is besides the point, but at the very least you should have learned to manage your apple/icloud id by now being a loyal apple customer you are...
