Adding attachments dialog box broken

In the last 2 weeks I have lost the ability to add an attachment according to date modified when it goes to the add attachment dialog box. I used to have the NAME tab on the left and the DATE MODIFIED on the right. Now it is just the NAME and it will only sort in ascending or descending order. I always use the DATE MODIFIED to make sure that I have the most recent file to send.
I have not added anything new, as in software or hardware. I have run the repair permissions, disk utility, and I even used fsck - not that I am a Unix person - but I figured it couldn't hurt. Nothing has gotten it back and now I am baffled and tired of sorting through the massive folders I have.

In the dialog's toolbar, do you have, from left to right, left and right arrows, then a two piece button that toggles the disply? Clicking on the right hand button will get the 'name only' disply you mentioned. Clicking on the left button will get the 'name and date modified' display.

File open dialog box broken in all apps! ( 10.5.6/7

Hi, I've got a very odd problem that Apple phone support seem to be unable to solve.
Basically, every file open dialog box system wide is broken, from file->open in textedit to the browse button on websites for uploading files.
When trying to display this finder panel, it beachballs for ten seconds then gives me a grey area where the usual finder browser usually resides and the open / cancel buttons at the bottom of the panel.
I've repaired permissions which had no effect.
The finder works perfectly other than it's little file open dialog which other applications use...
Updating to 10.5.7 did nothing to fix the issue.
Does anybody have any idea how to resolve this?

V.K. had you create another user to eliminate the possibility that it is a preference file causing the problem. It was reported the problem remained with another user, so the problem is system wide, not with a single user's preferences.
The Archive & Install is relatively painless. It only replaces the system and leaves everything else untouched. What is replaced is saved in a new folder it creates named Previous System, in case there is something there you might want to bring back (most often 3rd party files, but I have never needed anything from the Previous System folder).
The only hassle with the A & I is resetting preferences. If you check the option during the A & I to retain user settings, there is usually not very much that needs resetting.

ITunesEvent Interface - Added Files Dialog Box

I am using the COM SDK for Windows and I am using the iTunesEvent interface to receive the call iTunesEvents:nCOMCallsDisabledEvent. The problem I am having is the Server Busy Dialog pops up in my application when I use IUserPlaylist::AddFiles of 50 plus files. Because the Added Files Dialog pops up in iTunes doing this operation.

I have the exact same issue, except that I'm usually opening .aspx files. I waste so much time hand-clicking to select All Files (*.*) — would *love* to be able to change the default!

When I try to add an RSS or Atom feed, I get a dialog box with Open or Save instead of adding the feed to NewsFox like it used to do.

With Firefox 4.x, when I added a feed, it would open NewsFox in a new tab, and bring up a dialog box with info about that feed. I would click on "test this feed" and it would put all available items into NewsFox. Now, I get this dialog box with Open or Save. If I click on Open (declaring Firefox as the preferred app), then it opens the feed itself, it doesn't add it to NewsFox. I've tried going into Options and about:config but don't see anything to change that would fix this problem. I tried Search in Firefox Help but no relevant threads came up.

"Save as" dialog box doesn't come up, even though I have "Always ask me where to save files" selected (email attachments)

Recently, the "save as" dialog box quit appearing when I attempt to download email attachments. I have the "always ask me where to save files" box checked in the tools/options/general/downloads area. The box still appears when I use Chrome, but not when I use Firefox.

After spending three months building a twenty six page Book Project in iPhoto i added a page and later decided to delete the page. The whole project was gone, the undo menu was grayed out and there was nothing in the iPhoto trash about my Book.
Surly I can find this if I knew the path to find the project in a library on a back column I have of my hard drive.. Could anyone help me?

Sorry I'm having a hard time getting this.
If I go to my hard drive BIGMAC>Library>Application Support>iPhoto>the only thing in this folder is Themes.
However, when I "Get Info" it's 580MB for 24,421 items. iPhoto says I have 35,977 photos. I would think the database would be into the GB for this many photos.
If I go to BIGMAC>system>Library>I find nothing about iPhoto
Is the iPhoto file in the Application Support the one I need to replace with my backup?

Strangely enough even though I had gotten the " Install failed....Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer....The install could not copy the necessary support files" I had left it on the screen and left the room for awhile. I walked back into my computer room a few minutes ago and the window on the screen stated that the SL OS 10.6.4 had successfully installed. I am now very carefully checking things out to make sure the fonts are where they should be. With the exception of some updating it appears all may be well.
PS. Below is a note I was writing to Kurt (also assisting me) to try and detail what had happened. Added it in case it could be of any value to you

Thank you for response. following is series of events to my best recollection.
I would typically not have been this stupid/ignorant but was doing this in a hurry with someone asking me questions...wasn't paying attn. to what I was doing
• downloaded new fonts
• opened downloaded fonts, clicked font icons to open and install them.
• typed "fonts" in spotlight (with the intention of moving new fonts into font folder)The Spotlight results window revealed 5 or 6 font folders. I ignorantly started to try a clean up by installing all fonts into a single folder (not thinking about system fonts)
Sometimes when you are moving a folder the window you moved it from will jump around..well this occurred and I mistakenly released the folder on the desk top. This caused a copy to be made. After some investigation I realized it was a copy of the required system fonts that were still located in the original "spotlight results" window.
• I attempted to delete the copy..when I did an administrator password box appeared I entered the password and the result was both system font folders were deleted (the original & the desk top copy I erroneously made)
• Now windows open but are blank with sometimes faded mini sized icons. If I click one of the mini icons i get a new blank window. I am unable to give any instruction, have total blank menus, dialog boxes, etc.

I'm hesitant to answer your questions anymore because somebody always comes behind and shows everybody how much I don't know Anyway, I do not know of a way. I remember that there have been other developers discussing this and I think everybody just gave up. I have never seen an image in a dialog box, so that tends to indicate to me that no one has found a way.

Save Dialog Box

Apparently I am in the extreme minority, but I really do miss the save dialog box when saving attachments in Mail. Is there anyway to kill off the automatic saving to the Downloads folder? And no I am not interested in merely moving the default from automatically saving all attachments to Downloads to automatically saving to some other folder.
I maintain some 2000 plus clients and multiple projects for each client on my hard-drive. Each client and project is set up in hierarchical folders. I have been too busy recently to go through the Downloads folder and move the downloaded attachments to the proper client and project folders so my Downloads folder built up a sizable backlog. After spending more than two hours just moving files from Downloads to the folders where they are supposed to be I have finally reached my breaking point.
Prior to the creation of the Downloads folder Mail would offer you a save dialog box like most other programs and you could navigate to where you wanted particular files saved. Is this just impossible to do in the current incarnation?
I am almost positive this is not something that can be fixed through the standard preferences dialog box, but I am hopeful that it may be one of those things that can be edited in the plist file. Any ideas?

The Save dialog is available by pressing *and holding* the Save lozenge button next to the attachment(s) in the message header header, or right-clicking/save attachment on files visible in the message body.
(Having to click and hold the save button to get something useful is extremely bizarre, and IMO broken)
You can also drag and drop items from the message to a Finder window or whatever.

How do you create a menu item in diadem user dialog boxes?

I dont mean adding a menu to the diadem view through 'MenuItemAdd'. I need to add it to a user dialog box. Know an ActiveX control that can be used for this?

the reason for this "invalid file format" might be that I use a DIAdem version, which is different from you version.

Turn off save dialog box when the close command is executed

I would like to set the default value of the save dialog box to No when my users close my form, so they do not have to manual answer this question. Is it possible to do this or is there a commmand I can place in docClose to tell the form to close without saving?

Any way to see ICONS in Open and Close Dialog boxes?

Is there any way to see ICONS in Open and Close Dialog boxes, instead of just lists of items names?
I know you can preview one at a time, but I'd love to see all my artwork as picture icons, just as you can in a finder window.
Windows does this, but not OSX that I know of. Is there a third party app that enables you to see icon view in the Open and Close Dialogs?

Canon 1DX support was added to ACR in version 6.7, 7.1. An updated CS6 should be at level ACR 8.6. If your ACR is not at level 8.6 try using CS6 menu Help>Updates. If that does not install ACR 8.6 try downloading the ACR and DNG 8.6 converter and see if ACR 8.6 will install into your CS6.

I see no direct connection.. a printer and the computer setup for internet are not related.
But it sounds like the router in the wife's office is now in the wrong mode..
If you have an existing main router replace the second router for a switch .. that is the easy way.
Otherwise you need to bridge the router if it has that option.. most do not. Or use wan bypass.. where you turn off the dhcp server in the router and fix its ip to match the range of the main router.. this is the hassle of using router as a switch.
BUT I am making a huge number of assumptions.
What I need is the full network layout.. a quick picture would help.
I need main modem.. main router.. (maybe same box or different).. make model and current IP address and how dhcp is setup.
I need secondary router.. if that is what it is, IP and settings.
I want the printer type and model. How it is connected.
BTW I much prefer to see a network printer plugged into the network rather than usb.. it is only a matter of sorting the IP settings and driver pointing to the network rather than local.
Or you should think of it as a broken washing machine and call the technician.. who could fix the whole lot in an hour.
