Adding attachments to PDF within ISR and possibly link to BDS in ESS

I have a requirement where the user needs to attach documentation to a request (ISR) for approval. From my research on this forum I see that currently SAP does not support attachments in a PDF within ISR as only a small subset of the xml data to render the form is actually saved as part of the request. A person has the ability to add attachments to the form in the process but once the form is recalled from the work list and displayed the attachements are missing.

Hello Guys,
We are using Adobe forms with ISR framework and facing problems attaching the files from within the PDF ; using the paper clip icon.
Once the files are attached to the PDF form and the form is submitted, attachment disappears from the Form . Instead we have to use a "Attachment Manager" on UWL to attach the files. It is quite Confusing to have a "Paper Clip" button inside the form and also a attachment manager on UWL.
If anyone faced similiar issue and has solution to fix this, please let me know.
We are on ECC6 with component SAP_BASIS - 701- 006- SAPKB70106.

Trying to paste pdf into mail and keep links active

I've created a pdf in iWork with active links. When I copy and paste it into Mail the links stop working. Anyone know how to keep the links active?

You attach pdfs to email. I have never met a pdf reader that works inside a mail client.
Links, inactive or not, are a separate problem. Under what circumstances do they not work for you?

Adding attachments to PDF form

I tried everything and looked everywhere and can't find the best solution to this problem. I just need a way for the user to attach documents to a PDF form in Adobe Reader. I have access to LiveCycle and Acrobat so is there way once the extended features are enabled for a user to add attachments to the form in Reader. I have LiveCycle ES 8.2.1. I guess the only possible way is when the user emails the form they can add the attachments then but I just want to see if it can be done by attaching to the actual form.

I can't test now, but I've had Paul's example working on a Mac before in Acrobat.
If you are using Reader on the Mac (or Windows), then the form would need to be Reader Enabled using LC Reader Extensions ES on the server.
If you have Reader Enabled the form in Acrobat, then the ability to attach files is not available to users with Reader.

I can't use the scroll feature built into my touchpad on my laptop, it works with everything else, including a pdf within firefox and the old 3.6 version of firefox but not in the new one. Does anyone know how to fix this?

The touchpad has a built in feature where when i move my finger over the far right, it scrolls instead of using the mouse. It has been faultless with everything before now, but doesnt work on webpages in Firefox 4, but does in pdfs open within firefox. I can only assume therefore it is the browsers problem not mine. The touchpad is a synaptics pointing device. If this is a browser problem then looks like firefox 4 wont be for me :(

Apparently it's related to the Firefox plug in.
This isn't exactly a solution but more of a way to avoid opening PDFs with Firefox's plug in.
1. Highlight "Tools" from the Menu Bar in the top left of the screen (or click "Options" if using the Firefox Compact Menu)
2. Select to "Options
3. Select "Applications"
4. Look for "Adobe Acrobat Document" under Content Type and to the right under Action select "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the using Adobe Acrobat in Firefox
5. Open a test PDF. It should open in it's own window now.
Again, not a complete solution but something that'll at least let you scroll with PDFs open.

I ve created a dynamic interactive form using WD Java and Adobe Livecycle designer. My requiremnt is to attach files to the pdf document.To enable dynamic pdf, i have set IWDInteractiveForm instance to dynamic in my wdModifyView method. In this case, the create attachment option in my Adobe Reader 7.0 toolbar is not available. But when i remove the code from wdModifyView method, the create attachment option is available. I need to solve this issue.. Your suggestions are welcome.

Attachments in pdf are damaged and can't be opened, however they open on an Ipad

Tried to open with several programs: Adobe reader 11.07 , PDF architect , all gave a "damaged" error.
OS is Windows 8.1
Imap e-mail protocol
Forwarding message to another PC was no solution, only the IPad opened the file(s)

the prefs.js file which the config editor edits has not changed much in a decade. Only preferences that are set are even saved in thee. Defaults are not saved at all. If the preference is missing add it.
The big difference is the menu, and pressing F10 will bring it back. Or use Alt + T to get started.

Adding Tags in PDF for Tables and Figures

You can add tags to a PDF Document. If the PDF is untagged you can use the advanced, accessabilty, add tags to the document. If the PDF is already tagged or after you have run the add tags you can use the "touch up reading order" menu and then make the item you want to be a table a table etc....

Converting Word Doc to PDF on Mac and *retaining links* (Acrobat XI & Word 2011)

Whether I do it through Adobe > Create PDF or on Word from Save As > PDF, the hyperlinks in the Word doc no longer work in the PDF. I am on a Mac.
I've read a few work arounds (that require other tools to complete), but none have worked all that well, often messing up the formatting.
Would love to see Adobe fix this problem!

I agree with John that the version level may be the issue. Typically the first release of each version is buggy. Often the problem seems to be with the fonts - maybe the source of your problem. It might be that the "P" characters were part of the original as flags to change a font style and did not get removed.
You might also try printing to the Adobe PDF printer to see if that gives the same result (I suspect it will). If it does, an update would be appropriate and should at least be tried on one machine.

If you haven't made it at this point, this is indeed done via the Home Page Framework via the backend on the following IMG PATH:
> Cross-Application Components
> Homepage Framework
1. You make a resource available via the Role (via PCD)
2. You customize every other part as a cascade:
Define Area group / Headers
-> Define Areas / Assign Area to Area Group
-> Define Subareas / Assign subarea to Area
-> Define Services / Assign Services to Subarea.

ISR/Adobe: Getting the PDF binary within ABAP and upload PDF

Dear Forum,
I feel there have been some questions like this before on this matter, but not explicitly enough. My question applies only to Adobe together with ISR (not webdynpro/Adobe).
Using ISR/Adobe, the PDF is just used as a dynamic form. However, there are moments in the requests lifetime that it could be fixed. F.i. for sending e-mails with the PDF as attachment, or after approval for electronic archiving.
These both are hot topics on the project I am currently working on, but the way how to implement is not that clear.
The first thing I can think of is to use an FP* function modules based ABAP program to recreate the PDF. This is possible, since QISRSCENARIO also implements a forms interface. However, there are a few cons on this, as well on functionality (FP interface vs. webdynpro handling of ISR data) as from a maintenance point of view: you have to program an interface twice!
Second best but at least far more complex is to recreate the PDF binary by calling the ADS directly with an XFT and dynamically created XFD file. Much more work, but offers more functionality (longtexts!)
How nice would it be, if the ISR webdynpro's could offer the binary to the ABAP ISR* function modules, so they could be used anywhere where needed exactly identical to the original rendered form. But I am not aware of such possibility.
Has anyone made some progress on this field? And, asking to Markus, is SAP planning to make such possible in coming releases?
And while I am questioning this, Markus, are there any plans to incorporate the off-line webdynpro adobe possibility into ISR?

You can use the print form directly. I mean the same way as you would use the WD/ online form. Provide the form name, the data source and stuff and the form should work. If that would be an interactive one, you would not be able to change any values if the form is based on DDIC dictionary, but since you want to use the printform, this is not your concern.

HELP: I need to link a PDF within PDF and be able to open and return to original PDF

I have a master PDF and have attached 7 supplemental PDF documents. I created "click here" icons and used the steps below so that the linked document would open. The problem is, once I open the supplemental PDF, it closes the original master. I would like to close the linked document and return to the master view. Is there a way to do this?
Or is there a way to do this from InDesign? I created master file in InDesign and exported as an Interactive PDF. I created the buttons and linked them to external files. This works great as long as the master PDF and the links are all in one file, but that is a pain to send to a viewer. Ideally, I want to be able to send the master PDF to a viewer and not have to send a links folder. Is there a way to embed the supplemental PDFs into the master so that they are all combined into one file AND have the ability to use buttons to call up one of the attachments, close, and return to the original?

I want to do the same thing that the original poster of this question wants to do. I haven't worked extensively with Acrobat so am finding by trial and error the several ways PDFs within PDFs can be accomplished. I'm using a trial version of Acrobat Pro X and have experimented with three options.
1 - I've created a Portfolio and am impressed with what that can do, though I think it may be "overkill" for the current size of my project.
2 - I've also tried creating this project as an index but discovered that the links I'd created in the original docs didn't work when I moved the index and its contents (keeping the file structure the same). I presume this means the links are absolute? I also don't understand how it is that users search a .pdx file, or how to present what I want to be the original opening PDF of indexed docs.
3 - I've also thought to create one PDF with attached PDFs, so I'd like to have you expand on your comment about creating a master document and attaching documents to it.
The specifics of my project are these: I have created a master directory that contains approximately 120 links. Most of the links are repeated three times (users can find in the directory the item they need in three different ways: alphabetically, by application, or by module; hence each item listed once in each of three categories). I want to make that directory the "master" PDF that users open first, and then locate within that PDF the 5-8 PDF documents that contain all of the places to which the directory links. I want the "master" directory to be self-contained and completely "portable" as far as all of the documents and links are concerned so that when I make the PDF available from our website users can open the master from there or copy it and have all of the docs they need with all of the links intact. I think I prefer that all docs open in new windows, since returning to the original doesn't seem very user friendly in Acrobat (I like the tabs feature in FoxIt when multiple PDFs are open...).
I'd like an opinion about the best way to accomplish what I need to do, and am also wondering whether there are other options I am unaware of. BTW, the reason we've decided to document this whole project in PDFs rather than HTML is because this project contains a big number of tables, which do not look consistent across various browsers (i.e., most of our tables look fine in IE and Firefox, but awful in Google Chrome...). In researching my issue on the Acrobat Windows forum I see that rendering tables in Acrobat is also an issue that seems to be unresolved.

Download and then open PDFs with Preview instead of viewing PDFs within Safari

hello, I am running Safari 6.0.2 and since this update PDF files are automatically opened within Safari. This seems to be a new feature. In my older version of Safari whenever I clicked a pdf it was downloaded to my "Downloads" folder and then automatically opened with Preview. The option open "safe" files after downloading in Safari -> Preferences -> General is ticked. So as soon as a download a PDF file it should automatically be opened with Preview. However, I cannot figure out how to download a PDF file from a google link. I googled and people suggested to use alt + mouse click on the google search result link to download the PDF. However, whenever I tried this instead of downlading the PDF file it downloads a .html file which is then apparently not opened. Also using the option "download linked file" or "download linked file as" only downloads a url.html file and not the PDF. I searched and searched for any possible solutions but cannot find any. I am really suprised that no one has yet really complained about that. Any ideas of how to fix that problem?

I had a similar probem after updating to the newest Safari -- and I posted that question on the forum this morning. Like you, I didn't have any adobe plug-ins. then I read another post that made sense:
find a pdf document that you know opens in Preview. Do a command-I on that document's icon. Then you'll see 1/2 way down an item that says "open with Preview" - click on the arrow beside that, then beside it you'll see "use this application to open all documents like this one" Under that, you'll see "change all" -- and it will change all pdfs to automatically open with Preview instead of Adobe.From then on Safari worked perfectly
Then I wondered why I didn't have the Adobe plug-in that people were telling me to disable - so I downloaded Adobe Reader again - looked in the library and sure enough there was the plug-in - so I went ahead and disabled the Adobe pdf plug-in (by dumping it in the trash).
so far so good -- first time that Safari 6.02 has worked for me since I installed it.

In adobe pro XI, how do you convert a file of emails AND their attachments to pdf?

Unfortunately, that did not work either. I am thinking this may not be possible (at least with 10.1.3.4). What I was hoping for was that I could audit the presentation catalog groups and users. I want to be able to get a list of all the users and the groups they are listed in. Again, this would be helpful so we do not need to keep an external record. If we are removing access to a user or updating the group, we want to make sure we remove them from all applicable groups (Settings>Administration>Manage Presentation Catalog Groups and Users)

You can import the pdf as an image but it is not editable.
If you are after the text, open it in Preview and copy the text and paste it wherever you want, or open it in Adobe Acrobat Pro and convert it into a Word .doc.
