Adding audio to a keynote presentation

I'm creating a large keynote presentation with 100+ pictures. I use various songs to play along during the slide show. I know how to get one in but don't know how to change tunes after the song is done. I want to fade one song then play another song with the next slide. I know how to do this in powerpoint but can't seem to figure it out for keynote.
Help!!!!
thanks.

I just gave a soud/synchronised keynote presentation in Portand to a large audience.
I built the presentation in 4 sections, each section about 7-10 minutes long.
I used Roxio's Jam and Toast to create sound tracks then matched the slides and transitions to the soundtracks. A few good programs to consider in addition to Toast are MP3 Trimmer (to cut the delays between tracks) and Audacity for more control over the audio transitions.
Keynote is awesome in so many ways with the wealth of cool effects and transitions that I kept with it even though frustrating in so many other ways.
Gradually I am putting the 4 sections together to a main score built in Toast but it takes a lot of time and patience to make even minor changes, running the whole program through to get it down right. I hear the music over and over in my head at night which does suck...
One problem that is a major high-suckage, is that various machines have different audio codecs / chips depending on sound cards. I built my entire production on my new Mac Quad Quad with 8 gigs of Ram and when I tried playing it on my G4 Mac Powerbook the show was between 3-7 slides behind the music score. Bigtime suckage. I tried a Firewire 800 external dirve and still no soap. Then I tried in on my G5 2 Ghz machine with 8 gigs of Ram and still the same 3-5 slide lag compared to the audio score.
I eneded up shipping my Quad Quad out to Portland and playing the entire presentation (over 500 images) and about 45 minutes in total with the many sections. The Quad X4 performed flawlessly, and I had the sections que'd up ready to go and had a black screen on the second monitor (the DVI Projector) and it all worked great much to my surprise, as I toggled the sound up and down via the keyboard.
I hope Keynote will eventually include Time Base corrections because the transitions and fades are among the best in the biz. Soooo frustrating at times to work with, but boy howdy, with the right high priced gear and plenty of crazy time to work on the presentation it can be awesome - just unbelievably awesome.
Try Mp3 Trimmer, Toast (or Jam) and Audacity for buildiing your scores. I didn't like GarageBand but I guess it would work. i-Movie just didn't do the same effects that keynote does, for me, and was a bigger learning curve then how quickly Keynote let me get on board.
Best wishes - if you build it they will come...

  • Multiple audio files in Keynote presentations

While working within a Keynote presentation, I wanted to create a presentation that had background music. However, at one point in the presentation, I wanted to simultaneously end one audio file and begin the next audio file. I added the audio files as objects, and in Build Inspector, ordered all objects. I succeeded in building out the first audio file and building in the second audio file, however, instead of the second file beginning immediately, there is a 7-8 second delay even though I started the build immediately after the build before to end the first audio file. Is it possible to do what I am trying to do?

Try the following; it works for me.
First Audio clip: Build-in (Start Audio) will begin playback
Build-out (Stop Audio) will end playback.
Second Audio clip: Build-in (Start Audio) will begin playback
To have first clip end when second begins, create a Build-Out (Stop Audio) and have the Build-In (Start Audio) of the second clip occur simultaneously with the Build-Out of the first clip.
By the way, you can have these audio clips associated with a slide and still have an audio track running in the background as a Soundtrack. Be sure, however, that you record the various audio tracks at an appropriate level before you import them into Keynote because you cannot balance them while in Keynote.

  • Adding video to a Keynote presentation on iPad

Since the IOS 8 update I have not been able to find my videos to add to a presentation. Before the update all videos were in the 'media' section of Keynote app but now it just shows 'Photos'. The 'Video' file is synced in the same file as all the photos but all videos now go directly into the separate Video app under the 'Movies' category that can not be found by the Keynote app.
I am able to copy and paste any videos I have used on previous presentations but not all videos I want to use are available on past presentations but this is a workaround if a video has been used before.
Anyone that is kind enough to offer advise please bare in mind that this was not an issue before the update (just trying to save anyone taking the time to explain how it used to work before the update )
Many thanks in advance for any help

I've been following this discussion and have 2 questions and a suggestion.
Question 1:  I have not found any way to select a music or sound file of any kind when putting together a Keynote presention on my iPad.  Inserting a media object seens ti only allow videos and still images.  I don't have a Mac so going that route won't work for me.
Suggestion:  I have, however, found a way to insert audio clips. On my Windows machine I create a movie with the soundtrack of the audio clip that I want, and then load a still image into the video track, to play the same amount of time as the audio track. Save it as an MP4 movie file and transfer that (via a WiFi app) to the iPad. I can then select that "video" to play on a Keynote slide. This leads me to....
Question 2: Is there any way to have multipe videos on a single slide that you can play one at a time, in any order. it wseems when I try this, that when touch a playing video to stop it, another of the other videos stop, etc. Any way to pause a video an stay on the same slide?

  • The audio on my keynote presentations on iPad does not work

The audio on my keynote slides using my iPad now do not work. (I used the same presentation before with no problems--now no audio). No transitions have been changed, and all slides have been checked in Inspector. All audio is turned all the way up. All other iPad audio--music, videos, etc. work fine. Playing the slideshow on my Mac audio works just fine too. Help--why wont audio work on Keynote on my iPad?

I have the same issue exactly. I have followed the pairing instructions very carefully with no results, no volume control, I wish I could help you out but you were the only post I ran into in discussions here's hoping someone hears our cry for help!

  • Adding movie into a Keynote presentation

Please can someone help! I cannot get a movie when added into a frame to play and close so that it continues into the next frame. I have set the build in as 'start movie', build out as 'stop movie' but when I play the presentation it gets to the video frame, flashes up for a second or two then onto the next frame. I have tried everything, different time settings, transitions, auto setting and click and still no joy. I basically want a 3 frame presentation that then flows into a 4 minute video and then into two further bullet point frames.
*Can anyone help as its driving me mad!*

With respect to the slide that hosts your video...
Determine the desired length of video runtime.
Select the video, use the "Start Movie" build-in, set to occur automatically after the slide transition.
Add a shape to the slide with a build-in (type doesn't matter -- you'll be making the object transparent so it doesn't show) to occur automatically after the movie build-in; apply a 60-second delay (that's the maximum possible delay). Create a build-out for this shape, again to occur automatically after the build-in, and with another 60-second delay.
Add a second shape to the slide and give it the same treatment as the first shape -- you will now have created a four-minute delay while your movie is running. Since you're now within reach of the end of your movie, place your "Stop Movie" build-out to occur automatically after the last of your shape build-outs, with a delay that makes up the remaining movie runtime.
Finally, set the slide transition to occur automatically.
Select the two (or three) dummy shapes and set their opacity to "0" using the Graphic Inspector, and Bob's your uncle.

  • Computer crash at the end of a keynote presentation being recorded

    Hi there,
I attempt at recording my audio during a keynote presentation that lasts about 90 minutes. To this end I use the new slide show recording feature in keynote 4.
Twice now towards the very end of the presentation my Mac crashed. I am using all the latest software (keynote 4.0.3), latest system software update (10.5.2) on a MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I am using an external microphone hooked up to my Mac. I can tape my audio using e.g. Hijack Pro without crashes.
    Any trivial reasons, suggestions?
    Many thanks, Kay

maybe this is not the most elegant solution, but it has worked for me:
since you know how long the movie is, set the delay for the transition to the next slide to the length of the movie. you have have to play with this, as there might be time from the previous transition that has to be added to it.

  • Audio Sync to keynote

I am trying to add audio to my keynote presentation. I imported a song from iTunes. But I don't want the same song for all the slides. Is there a way to add only a segment of a song and then add another song from, say slide 10? Thanks.

Place the sound file directly on the slide.
Use the start and stop markers in Inspector > QuickTime
add the second sound file and use Builds to control the order of play

  • HT4640 Adding a video clip to a keynote presentation - do I have to keep the original video on the camera roll?

I have several keynote presentations that are missing their video clips.  Does the original video clip need to stay on the camera roll after you embed it in the presentation?  I thought not, because when you add a video, a message comes up saying "compressing video" before it gets added.  That made me think that a special compressed version of the original video is made and saved along with the presentation.  I've tried testing this by creating a new presentation, adding a video clip to it and then deleting the original video from the camera roll and the video clip in the presentation was not affected.  You'd think if the clip were linked to a presentation, that iOS would warn you before you delete it from the camera roll.  But I can't think of any other reason why the clips would suddenly be missing from all my keynote presentations.

You can do this with iMovie '06, but not with iMovie '08. You should have iMovie '06 still on your hard disk if you upgraded from iLife '06, or you can download it for free from Apple. Under Editing -> Video Effects, you will find the Fast/Slow/Reverse effect that will do this.

  • Keynote presentations when using wireless libratone zipp speaker there is a 2sec delay before any slide containing video/audio plays - tried connection through apple TV still the same. Any ideas?

Keynote presentations when using wireless libratone zipp speaker there is a 2sec delay before any slide containing video/audio plays - tried connection through apple TV still the same. Any ideas?

Thanks Gary, I think I should have mentioned that I have wired my other speakers and it works fine.
I just wanted to go wireless when presenting in front of class, simply to avoid trailing wires from the macbook which I position in front of me on a desk next to the projector and the speakers are behind me next to the screen.
I have struggled to find a solution, and reading through other discussions it is a problem that perhaps only Apple can solve.
I hope the new 'Yosemite' will resolve the problem.
Thank you once again for your reply.

  • Issue / problem adding audio in Presenter 7 (PowerPoint 2010)

Since I got a new PC (Windows 7), I'm having an issue / problem adding audio in Presenter 7 (PowerPoint 2010).
It doesn’t happen every time, but randomly with many presentations...
In PowerPoint, right after I import audio (through Presenter) and click “ok”, I get the following errors:
Then, I can't get into the "import/sync/edit" mode, from the Presenter tab...
Already tried reinstalling Presenter, resaving new presentations, deleting the .ppcx/audio folders, importing the audio locally (vs from my network drive), etc.
Then sometimes, randomly, it will let me get back in and edit the audio, after numerous attempts…?!? I can't figure out what the pattern is, which is causing this new problem (never had this problem before, w/ my old PC - Win XP / PowerPoint 2003 / Presenter 6 & 7)
Anybody have an idea what the issue could be?
    Thanks,
    Mike P.

Open the pp presentation in Keynote +(right click and under Open with, select Keynote)+. Then you can drag the Thumbnails from one to the other.

  • Any text to speech app for keynote presentation?

Hello all, i am searching for any text to speech app or add-on to Keynote presentation. I have downloaded iSpeech but not sure if it can be added on to Keystone. Thank you.

If you want a comic effect then see below, if you want a serious engaging voice over, record a human voice.
creating a sound file from text:
Select a group of text you want to transform into a spoken audio file
Right click on the block of text and select “Add to iTunes as Spoken Track”
The audio track will then open up in iTunes

  • How can I embed a song into a keynote presentation?

how can I embed a song into a keynote presentation?

    (From Keynote Help)
Adding Sound to an Individual Slide
Sound added to an individual slide plays only on the slide to which it’s been added.
Here are ways to add sound to a slide:
Drag a sound file from the Finder anywhere onto the slide canvas or to a media placeholder.
Click Media in the toolbar, choose iTunes in the Audio pane of the Media Browser, select a playlist, and then drag a file or playlist anywhere onto the slide canvas (including to a media placeholder).
The sound file is represented on the slide canvas by a speaker icon, but this icon doesn’t appear when you play the slideshow.
You can start and stop sound playback at any time while the slide is showing. When you advance to the next slide, the sound playback automatically stops. To control when the music starts and stops, select the sound file icon, and then set playback options and use the Start Audio and Stop Audio effects in the Build Inspector. For more information, see Adjusting Media Playback Settings and Creating Movie Builds.
When you add media files to your slideshow, make sure that they will be available if you transfer your document to another computer. When saving your document, make sure to select “Copy audio and movies into document” in the Save window after you choose Save or Save As. (If you don’t see the option, click the disclosure triangle next to the field, and then click Advanced Options.)
Also note that some media files are protected under copyright law. Some downloaded music may be played only on the computer where the download occurred. Make sure the computer you’re using has permission to play all the media files included in your slideshow.

  • Moving Keynote Presentation to a Video Podcast

I have a Keynote presentation that I would like to record with narration, manually advance slides in sync with the narration, then move the combined narrated Keynote to a video podcast where viewer can see the slides and hear the narration.
Have tried moving it to GarageBand but it seems to throw up on the audio, won't take it in either the 'copy audio' or 'mix audio' options.
iMovie seems a logical choice but text on the slides (which look great in Keynote) all look out of focus in iMovie, either the new one or iMovieHD. Some fonts help this situation but none look anywhere as clear as the original Keynote. Went to One on Ones and no help there.
This does not seem like an off the wall application of Keynote to me but a logical extension for 'distance learning'. Has anyone done this successfully with text /photo slides with narration? how about slides with video clips as well?
