Adding audio to certain slides

Can you add a certain part of a song from iTunes to one or two slides? I have only been able to add a complete song to the entire Keynote presentation. I want to be able to pick a segment of a song and have it play on one particular slide during the presentation.
Thanks in advance.

Drag your song onto the slide you want it on. Then go to the Quicktime Tab of the Inspector and drag the start and stop sliders around until you only get what you want. Since these are not easy to get very exact, you may wish to use GarageBand to cut the song down to only what you want before adding it to Keynote.

I have followed the instructions but can't get the music to show up in the audio elements organizer..

    Hi James:
    Welcome to discussions.
You can get the songs you rip from your CD to export into iTunes by the following:
    1. iTunes - Pref - Advanced - Import. Change import using to MP3.
Now all new songs you rip from CD will export with iPhoto
To correct those songs already in iTunes so they will export, do the following:
    1. highlight song in iTunes Library
    2. Toolbar go to Advanced - Click Convert Selection to MP3
3.Now you will have a duplicate of that song in your library. The one just added that you converted, add MP3 to title
4.Use MP3 song in your slide show.
    5. Audio should export with photos.
Post back and let me know if this works for you. It does for me. You cannot change songs imported from iTunes this way; it will only work on songs from your CD. We will have to wait for updates for a permanent fix.
    Good luck-

  • Audio/Video skipping during certain slides

    Hi All,
I have been working on a screen simulation and until yesterday everything played back smoothly in the preview and also published.  Yesterday I made a couple of minor edits (replaced the audio on one slide (from Audacity), added a couple text captions, changed the font for several captions) and I started noticing skipping in the audio and video on a few slides (this happens in both preview and published). I have the filed saved in My Documents (not a network drive).  I have two versions (one with no skipping from 2 days ago (A) and one from yesterday with the skipping (B)), and have be playing with both trying to find the root cause.
On version A I tried to recreate the changes I made to B, pausing to watch after every change to find the cause.  It ended up being text captions I added to the bottom of half of the slides (simple text and says "Questions?  Contact ....").  Without this text the project plays fine.  Because verion B is more updated I figured if I just removed this text it would also get rid of the skipping.  However, this did not work. Has anyone else had any problems with audio and video skipping (almost like a scratched CD) throughout projects?  This project is not large (35 slides) and not overly advanced (software simulation) in Captivate 5 on Windows 7.  Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

This may not relate to your issue since you said it also skips occationally, but still worth looking at...

In general, before going back to tape or to an iDVD project, I always extract all the audio as my final step.

  • After adding audio to slide show, can we...

With the help of posts from this forum I got the audio up and running on a couple slide shows. I'd like refine a couple things, so has anybody done any of the following:
    1) Can the pictures in the slide show fade in and fade out for better picture to picture transitions?
    2) Can the play/pause button for the audio be changed? I'd like to add volume and maybe a percent indicator while the audio is loading.
    3) Could the slide show start AFTER the audio is loaded? By the time the audio starts the slide show is usually on the 2nd slide.
    4) Sometimes the audio will not loop. I think this depends on how the slide show window was closed. If the same page is reloaded again, the audio usually doesn't loop. Is there a way to re-initialize the slide show audio to guarantee it will loop each time.
    5) Will the audio work if the end-user doesn't have quicktime on the computer?
I've been using this section of the website for beta testing -

It can be done, but you are asking for entirely different slideshow

Yes, but you will have to do extra works with javascript. There is a transition variable in slideshow javascript, but there is no control over the slide duration (it's fixed and there is now way to change it). This can cause some strange effects.
    2) Can the play/pause button for the audio be
changed? I'd like to add volume and maybe a percent

Yes, change one of the arguments in QT_WriteOBJECT:
    QTWriteOBJECT('SF_Soundtrack1.mov', '34', '16', '',
    3) Could the slide show start AFTER the audio is
loaded? By the time the audio starts the slide show

You can put a delay time to call QT_WriteOBJECT function, once again javascripts.

QT is preloaded in a mac, but not so for pcs; so QT needs to be installed on a pc.

  • What happens to the closed captions when you delete a video or audio from a slide? (Captivate 7)

This might be a silly question but ...
I have a presentation with audio voiceover on every slide and videos on some. I have entered closed captioning for all of them. This is a pretty time consuming job.
What happens if I run into a problem with a video or audio clip and need to replace it? If I delete that audio or video from the slide, what happens to all the closed captioning that you added to it? I'm assuming it's deleted when you delete it from the slide.
If I export the captions before deleting the audio/video file, can I then reimport them when I replace the audio/video file with a fixed version?
    Thanks for any clarification.

    Hi there,
You can have CC with Slide audio and Multi Slide video in Captivate.
If you will delete the slide audio or Multi slide Video, then CC will get disabled on that slide, but same CC text will retain there as Slide notes.
Now, once you will re insert the audio or multi slide video you can mark that slide notes as CC again, or can have new CC.
So, even after deleting the audio and multi slide video, CC will not be deleted.
    check following section in Captivate:
    Thanks.

  • Problem adding audio to slideshow

I created a slideshow in Elements 8 with no problem.  I added several tracks of audio that fit well.  I learned that I needed to have Elements Premier to publish it to a DVD.  I downloaded the trials of Photoshop Elements 10 and Photoshop Elements Premier 10 and created the slide show again.  However I can not get the audio correct.  When I add the first song it takes up the entire slide show.  I add three more songs and they are just added on past the slide show which is 16 minutes long.  When I click to match the slides to the audio it tells me that the show is over 24 hours long.  I have unchecked the option to repeat the sound track until the end and cannot figure out what I need to do.  I know it is something probably simple but I can't seem to figure it out.  The audio files are MP3.  Can anyone tell me how to get the program to accept the song for its correct length?

There are actually a number of ways (at least 4) to create a slideshow in Premiere Elements, and without knowing which of those methods you're using it's hard to comment specifically.
But if you're building your slideshow on the Premiere Elements timeline, first make sure you're in Timeline mode. Then, when you add your audio track, hold down the Ctrl key. This will allow you to place the audio on a parallel track, below the video/slideshow. If you don't hold down the Ctrl key, the audio will be inserted -- which means that it will drop onto the timeline and push all of the video/slideshow to the right -- which is what sounds like is happening to you.
BTW, the trial of the program has a number of limitations, including limitations on its ability to render. In other words, you probably won't be able to output a video or DVD of the slideshow you create in the trial version of the program. Just a word of warning before you put too much time into it.
And I would also recommend you convert that MP3 into a WAV file using a program like Audacity (free). It will save you some headaches in the long run. Also, when you see red lines above the clips on your timeline, press Enter to render the timeline. (When rendered, the red lines will turn green.)
Lots more headache-saving tips like this in my books, if you're interested.

  • Adding audio to Video Demo: Captivate 7

Hello, i have several questions about working with audio in a video demo in Captivate 7.
I have a video demo that was captured without audio, then the intended script changed signifigantly so the timing is way off (sometimes the video doesn't hold on a screen long enough for the narrator to finish talking, sometimes it holds too long).
Any tutorials out there for adding audio after the video demo is recorded, when the timing is all off and I need to hold on some frames longer than the movie does? I'm doing still screen grabs and inserting them as images for the duration of the hold, but there's got to be a better way!
Is there any way to add text-to-speech in the Video Demo (other than adding it in slide notes, exporting the audio file and then importing it to the background of the video demo?)
When adding audio to a Captivate 7 video demo, is it better to add it to the video (Edit Video Demo > Audio > Import to > Background) or to add it to the slide in the regular timeline? Pros/Cons? Best practice?
    Thanks!

Are you un-checking "Edit Volume" before you play it?
    Sue
Hi Sue, Thanks for your help, I am new to the Mac, so forgive me if I am slow!
    I cannot find "Edit Voume".
I can find "Show clip volume" in the "View menu" is that the same thing?
    Thanks for your help. Chatch

  • Ducking doesn't work on added audio track

I have an iMovie 09 video clip of people dancing to music in the background.  I attached a separate audio clip of music to the video (it appears in green beneath the video).
At a certain point in the video, I want to fade the added music clip so you can hear what's going on in the video.  So I went to "Audio Adjustments" on the video clip and checked the Ducking box to that the music on the added audio clip would fade at that certain point.
But it doesn't fade at all.   How do I fix this?  Thanks.

You should be able to trim expanded audio in previous versions, also.  Then you do trim, the audio will only turn dark, not get physically shorter, when you Expand Audio Components.  When you Expand Audio, it will physically change the length of the audio section.  One thing to remember is that when you Expand Audio/Video, the whole clip is selected by default, click on the head or tail of the audio first.  If it is red, you can not expand it out, but can trim it in.
Tom is correct about ROLL edits, they only work in FCPX 10.1 and later.  Only works with clips in a Storyline.  Only work with audio that has enough Handles to accoedate the Roll edit.

  • Adding audio suddenly creating video gap

I'm working on a slide show and it was going really well until today. The video is finished, with transitions, effects, etc., and I've been adding audio over the past couple of days. Today, I added a couple of songs and they did fine, then I added another one and it caused a gap in the video. When I go to the video line and right-click the gap, the "Delete and Close Gap" is greyed out so I can't use it. The gap doesn't "match" the audio--it starts about halfway through the audio and then ends where the audio ends. This is really frustrating, as I can't see anything different about this section of the project from the rest of it. (same file types, etc.) Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can correct it? Thanks!

Steve--Thanks so much--of course that worked like a charm! :) I can always count on you to know right away what I'm doing wrong!! I do have one more question--why did the ripple feature only kick in towards the end? I had 1 hour and 6 minutes of audio tracks that didn't cause any of the ripples, then it seemed to happen out of nowhere. I don't *think* I was doing anything differently up to that point. I'm mystified! But also very, very thankful to know the cure--I'll be doing some last minute touch-ups and then I'll be ready to burn this one! Yahoooooo!!!!! :) Take care, Tina

  • Audio in PDF slide show doesn't play. What can I do ?

I created a PDF slide show with MP3 audio (from Elements Organizer version 10.0). The PDF doesn't play the audio. What can I do ?

    Hello Andaleeb,
thank you for getting back to me.
The slide show works fine, including sound, from within Organizer. It
also works fine when I export it as a video. Just PDF isn't working.
In the meantime, from various contributions in the forum, I gather that,
unfortunately, the Organizer (just like Lightroom) simply does not
support adding music to PDF slide shows. Apparently, there is a way to
do that using Acrobat Pro (only costs 640 Euros).
You may consider my question answered.

    Thomas

  • Adding audio to menu

Using Reflection White theme and having problems adding audio to opening menu. Been successful adding audio to submenus.
I would like to have audio when dvd is played and waiting for user to select submenus and also have same audio play when user returns to main menu (title)

    Thanks for the reply.
    Bit confused.
Where is the "audio well"? What does it look like?
When I select the music and click "apply" nothing
seems to happen. When I then click on 'Menu" the
duration is set to max - 3.31 and volume is set to
    mid way.
I usually drag and drop audio clips from the iTunes
    directory.
The audio well is that little rectangle that is just to the left of the 'Menu Volume' slider. Be sure you have iDVD back to your main menu screen. After you go to 'Media->Audio->iTunesLibrary and select the audio, click on 'Apply' You should begin to hear the music you selected. Go back to the 'Menu' tab and look at that audio well rectangle. You should now see a little icon of an audio file.
Is the any function that shows what is attached to a
submenu? I can see the movies and slideshows that I
    have dropped onto the menu/submenu.
Yes, just under the main screen there are three circular buttons. The left one is for activating the sound in the menus. It should be blue when it is on.
The middle button is a 'play' button that allows you to play your movie from the iDVD menu.
The third button is the Map button. Click on this one to see a diagram/outline of the structure of your menus showing what is within each submenu.

  • Pointer when adding audio to clip

When adding audio/music to a clip (not background) it sits below the clip with a small arrow/pointer pointing to the clip. What does that pointer indicate? Why does it move? Can someone point me to resourcs that explain that in detail?
    Thanks

I think you are right that the marker "stays". I don't have any special insight to how this was coded by Apple, but it appears to me that you initially attach the audio to a certain frame in a certain clip. Later you can drag the audio forward or backward, and it may remain attached to the initial frame, but be given an offset. For example, the audio is attached to frame five of clip three, but the audio actually begins at -30 or 30 frames to the left of the anchor frame.
I think if you experimented with it, you might find that if you delete the clip with the anchor frame, the audio is deleted, too, but I don't have time to test this right now.

  • Audio over multiple slides in Captivate 5

I am new to using Captivate 5 and i'm trying to record audio in Captivate that will play while 3 slides advance on their own.
I read something on a past thread that talked about clicking a "slide divider" - I can't find the "slide divider" and about a "distribution window" opening after I record the audio - that never appears.
Can anyone help me with this?  It seems like it should be easy to find.
    Thanks
    Emily

    Hi Emily,
You can record audio to 3 slides in different ways.
    Option1 :
You can record audio individually on all the three slides by invoking the Slide audio dialog for every slide.
    1. On every slide you wish to record audio invoke the slide audio dialog ( from Audio >> Record to >> Slide ) and record for the single slide. Saving the recorded audio will add it to the slide you recorded.
    2. You can follow step 1 for all the three slides you wish to record.
    Option 2:
You can record audio to all the three slides continuously in one go. You can do this in the SLIDES audio dialog
For ex if you want to record audio for slides 1,2 and 3, then select slide 1 and invoke the slides audio dialog from Audio >> Record to >> Slides
You get a "Record from Slide" dialog. Enter the Slide numbers for which you wish to record audio and click ok.
This will open the slides audio dialog.
Slides audio dialog shows up the slides selected in the "Record from slide" dialog. Enable "Continuous play" and "SWF Preview" and Click on the recording button. This will record audio over the three slides as you narrate. Audio will be added to all the three slides. You can see the Movie (SWF) preview or the Slide number mentioned in the top right of the preview pane to know the slide number you are recording to.
If some portions of the audio spills over the next slide then you can arrange the markers in the EDIT tab. Here you can play the audio and pause at the point where you want your next slide to start and click on the button highlighted by Lilybiri. Its called the "Start Next slide here" button.
After all the recording is done click on SAVE to add audio to all the three slides.
Try out these and let me know if it works.

  • Adding audio freezes footage

Morning. I recorded about 30 exercises yesterday on a Kodak Zi8, handy little camera, records to SD in .264codec. Just wanted to replace irritating background noise with some copyright free music before posting on line. Instead of FCP hassle and time, I thought this would be 'easy' with QT Pro. However, upon purchasing, everytime I add an audio track, the video freezes... but not only that but after constant searching on the internet last night, I could have added audio anyway without purchasing QT pro... so why do people buy QT pro??
Anyhow, hope someone is able to help. Happy holidays!
My QT is upto date (QT7 for my Tiger OS)

so why do people buy QT pro?
QT 7 Pro is many things to many people. For the experienced user, it is a "down and dirty" quick utility for the compositing, masking, application of certain filters, and the layering of audio, video, and other data, among other things. For the average user, it is more likely to be a means for quickly trimming, merging, and/or transcoding video content. For those who who don't want to spend the money, it is probably an unnecessary expense, since QT X, iTunes, GarageBand, and/or other free third-party applications like MPEG Streamclip or HandBrake may serve their needs.
Many buy it to simply express their individual creativity. Here is one example—a Christmas Card I made. To see many more examples of what you can do with it, check out QuickTimeKirk's site area.
