Adding audio to slideshows using Elements 11 and itunes.

Running Windows 7
I am doing a slideshow and would like to add audio from my itunes library. When I click to add audio and browse my itunes library, nothing shows after I click on the album. In an older version, I would change the file to a WAV file and it would insert fine. The new itunes does not let me do that anymore onlyl to an AAC file (not sure what that is ) when I try that they say it is protected and can't change it. How can I add audio files to my slide show using itunes?

Once, iTunes did not have a way to get their music into programs, like PrE, at least not directly.
Back then, the workflow was to go to iTunes, create a Playlist for the necessary iTunes music, then burn THAT to an Audio CD. Once done, one would take that CD into a program, like the free Audacity, to rip the CDA format, then Save_As WAV, choosing PMC/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit. Those WAV files were then Imported into PrE.
At some point in time, they relaxed things a bit, and many had no issues with a direct Import from iTunes.
Now sure what they are doing now, but many like using music from other sources, rather than iTunes.
Neale has linked to a conversion application, however I have never used it. OTOH, if Neale recommends it, then it should work just fine.
Also, according to Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/supported-file-formats-premiere-elements.html, AAC is a supported Audio Format.
As I seldom use any music from other sources, beyond SmartSound, I have not stayed current on how iTunes works.

But that's what I don't want to do. I think I must have misunderstood what was possible with iTunes Match and the cloud. I had thought I would be able to play my music directly from the cloud using WiFi. I didn't think I would have to download it from the cloud to play it on my iPad. I store it in the cloud because I don't have enough storage space on my iPad -- I can't download all my music because I run out of storage space. If iTunes Match doesn't allow you to play the music FROM THE CLOUD, but instead only allows you to DOWNLOAD IT FROM THE CLOUD TO YOUR IPAD TO PLAY, then it's not serving the purpose I thought it would. What's the point of storing it in the cloud if you have to download it to play it?
The only way I could imagine it working for me is if it possible to only download particular albums or songs. Or does your whole library have to be downloaded?

I have mulitple copies appearing on my ipad after using icloud and itunes match, how do I get only 1 copy to appear?

I am new to the Ipad, I just got the Ipad with retina display in and only have a 16gb memory. I wanted to use Icloud for my music and other items, but when I started using Icloud and Itunes match, my Ipad has up to 3 of the same song listed on the song list. and will repeat when I am listening to my music. I was wondering how I can get those multiple copies go away to just 1.

Using iCloud and iTunes match, should I still wirelessly sync with my computer iTunes?

Using an iPhone 4 with the latest updates. I keep getting an error message syncing over my wireless network that says "Cannot sync phone. There are too many files open" from iTunes on my compter. Should I turn off the wireless syncing now that I'm using iCloud and iTunes Match?
There are 4 iPhones that are using this feature on our network, plus AppleTV 2.

Even though you have iTunes match and iCloud, there are several other types of media that aren't included in either of the services, such as movies, photos etc, if you aren't syncing any of these to your phones, then you may well be able to turn iTunes wifi sync off.
Personally, I would want to find the cause of the error message and use the iTunes sync for backup, I consider it far more reliable and convenient than iCloud for back up

Problem adding audio to slideshow

I created a slideshow in Elements 8 with no problem. I added several tracks of audio that fit well. I learned that I needed to have Elements Premier to publish it to a DVD. I downloaded the trials of Photoshop Elements 10 and Photoshop Elements Premier 10 and created the slide show again. However I can not get the audio correct. When I add the first song it takes up the entire slide show. I add three more songs and they are just added on past the slide show which is 16 minutes long. When I click to match the slides to the audio it tells me that the show is over 24 hours long. I have unchecked the option to repeat the sound track until the end and cannot figure out what I need to do. I know it is something probably simple but I can't seem to figure it out. The audio files are MP3. Can anyone tell me how to get the program to accept the song for its correct length?

There are actually a number of ways (at least 4) to create a slideshow in Premiere Elements, and without knowing which of those methods you're using it's hard to comment specifically.
But if you're building your slideshow on the Premiere Elements timeline, first make sure you're in Timeline mode. Then, when you add your audio track, hold down the Ctrl key. This will allow you to place the audio on a parallel track, below the video/slideshow. If you don't hold down the Ctrl key, the audio will be inserted -- which means that it will drop onto the timeline and push all of the video/slideshow to the right -- which is what sounds like is happening to you.
BTW, the trial of the program has a number of limitations, including limitations on its ability to render. In other words, you probably won't be able to output a video or DVD of the slideshow you create in the trial version of the program. Just a word of warning before you put too much time into it.
And I would also recommend you convert that MP3 into a WAV file using a program like Audacity (free). It will save you some headaches in the long run. Also, when you see red lines above the clips on your timeline, press Enter to render the timeline. (When rendered, the red lines will turn green.)

Using Elements and Pro together

A friend is helping me with a video project an already has Premiere Pro on a PC so has suggested that I get it also for my MAc. However I can't justify the cost and wonder if it is possible to work on video from Premiere Pro using Elements.
Obviously not to same level but even a basic functionality is OK. ?
Does anyone have any experience of working cross PC/Mac platforms and with Elements / Pro...?

Welcome to the forum.
As Ann says, there is not much X-platform functionality between PrE and PrPro.
Also, a PC PREL (PrE's Project file) is not X-platform compatible with Mac, even with the same version of PrE installed. I think that this would be a deal-breaker for the workflow that you outline.
Once, it was fairly easy to go from Premiere (not PrE, and before PrPro 1.0, to PrPro 2.0, both PC-only) Projects on a PC to a Mac and vice-versa. If going from Mac to PC, the Project file's extension needed to be added, but other than some Transitions and Effects, that might exist on one platform, but not the other, the files were easy to Open and edit.
For a period of time, a PREL (PrE's Project file) could be Opened in PrPro, so long as the versions of the two programs were somewhat contemporary, i.e. PrPro 2.0 could Open PrE 4.0 PREL files, so long as there were no Themes, Instant Movies, or some 3rd party Transitions/Effects, such as NewBlue FX's.
That does not seem to be the case with at least PrPro CC, but maybe those reporting on the incompatibilities did not have "plain vanilla" PREL's? Nowadays, I rather doubt that there IS much compatibility between PrE and PrPro, but am not on CC, so I cannot test that completely.
Good luck, but I do not see what has been proposed working well, if at all.

Controlling the sequence of an iPod slideshow using Elements

I'm trying to control the order in which photos are shown in an iPod slideshow (that I'm displaying on a TV screen)
I've been asking how to do this in some iPod forums, and someone suggested (without many specifics) that I could somehow set it up in Elements and then export it to the iPod.
If you know how to do this or can point me to a post, article, etc that gives an explanation, I would really appreciate it! Otherwise, it's all trial and error.

Audio authorization trouble when adding audio to slideshow

I recently started a slideshow on iDVD '08, which by the way is AMAZING, except when I try to drag and drop a purchased audio file from the media browser 2 the editing window, it asks me to authorize the file through iTunes. Thing is, I've authorized my entire music library already, so what gives? I authorize the song file, try to play it in the slideshow, but I get the same message asking me to authorize the song file, again! Help!

Seems to be a recent bug that is effecting many people. The short term work around until Apple fixes the issue is to put your purchased songs in a playlist, burn that playlist out to an Audio CD (a CD-RW might be good for this if you need to do it often), then re-import the song from the burned CD in any format you fish, although AIFF might be best for iDVD use.

Using ipod and itunes again

just recently i had to deleat every thing from my computer and restore it to how it was brand new, during this process of this my itunes was deleated and i had to re download it and now when i try to put music on my ipod it says i am only alowed to use one computer to get music from. What do i do?? thanks for any help

The message you are getting is that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc.
If your iTunes is empty or doesn't have all the songs that were originally on your iPod you just need to take care connecting back to your computer. Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Adding audio to slideshow in PSE8

I am new to Adobe . I am trying to make slideshows and when I try to add audio from anywhere I get the following message:
Ubable to add the audio file....... system does not have the required compresser/decompresser(codec) installed.
What does this mean and how do I fix it so I can add audio to my slideshow?

For starters, I suggest that you post the file type of this audio file and describe how you obtained this file.
This info may give a forum participant a clue to why you have a problem. For example, if it is a downloaded file with digital rights management, I don;t think that the PSE slideshow will allow its use.
An additional suggestion is to try to Import this audio file to the Organizer. Now you may get the same no codec error message as you did for the slideshow, but knowing what happens on the Import may help to isolate the slideshow problem.
Perhaps an analogy to describe a codec is that it is a "road map" that is used to interpret and processes (decode) a specific type of audio file. It is a finer differentiation that just the file type identified to Windows.

I can't get any audio when i use airplay and I'm on youtube

whenever i try to watch youtube on my tv using my laptop i get no audio from my speaker system it will play on my laptop speakers and only show the image on the tv. but my itunes is the oposite it will play on my speaker system but wont show my itunes on my tv

Video audio sync prob. using 9-and hd camera

K so here is my problem: Using E-9 with a JVC GY-HD 100 camera. after I import the audio is off. What the hell! The audio and Video are synced on the tape so it has to be the program. Do I have settings wrong someplace? Help. And TY in advance.

Sound dropping using AX and iTunes

Hi-
My connection between my laptop iTunes and my AX/home stereo connection drops the signal every 10 seconds or so. I know this problem has been discussed in earlier posts, but I haven't been able to locate the discussion thread. Does anyone have a link to it?

Have you had any more trouble? I just installed AE with no problems with no initial problems.I want to use it solely for streaming music. BUT with iTunes streaming a signal to the AE (about 10 feet away) the AE is causing the music to "stick" in itunes. The music pauses for a second or so. Also, it's an intermittant fault and varies depending on where i site the AE around the house.
With the the Itunes playing through my internal PC speakers there's no problem.
would appreciate your feedback.
