Adding audio to still Photos

Is there a way to add audio to a photo and send it via MMS?

In a word, no.
If you receive an MMS that includes a small audio file, you can forward the audio file and copy/paste a photo to be sent with the audio file, but you can't add audio to a photo or combine an audio and JPEG file.

  • Adding music to still photos in iMovie, wont syncronize with rhythm markers.

I´m trying to simply add music to a series of still photos, and I want the photos to change according to the rhythm of the song (I´ve set rhythm markers). This just wont happen, allthough I´ve followed every instruction in the "Help"-menu. I´ve tried both locking the project to rhythm and unlocking it. Some of the photos change with the rhythm in the music, others just skip and are automatically set to last 0.1 seconds (why??)  Can anybody tip me on what might be the problem? Is there a bug in here? I usually get these kind of things, but this really bothers me - can´t seem to figure it out.

    Hi Matt.
Yes, I´ve tried this. It´s the same result - some of the pictures change with the beat markers, others just skip. For some reason suddenly two pictures lie between two beat markers (instead of one picture pr marker), though I never wanted this. Also; do I have to seperately make a project with only pictures and make sure this is exactly the order I want them to appear in, and then copy/paste them into a project with the music track and beat markers? It seems like everytime I try to change the order/delete pictures the beat markers (the few ones which are in the right place...) move and get out of sync, allthough I believed the "lock to beat/rhythm"-function would prevent this?

  • Adding still photos to qt7 movie

QuickTime Kirk addressed this issue a few years ago but I was hoping to reengage on this as I am not clear abt the process of opening the audio file. I am making a time lapse movie of a class reunion and want to add some stills to the effort. I understand the adding "time" to the photos but not the process of doing that. Where do I find an mp3 file???? And is this topic covered in the owners manual because I sure cannot find it if it is.
in the FYI department, I am using an mb pro and 10.9.
    thanks
    the

The reason I suggested an audio file is because they don't have "dimensions" and that makes adding an image file less confusing. Any audio track will do as is will be removed later in the process.
Be sure to scale your image file to the dimensions of the video before adding them. It just makes things easier, too.
Create a selection in your audio file to the duration you want the stills to last. Cut, copy paste into a new Player window, name the file and save it. Close the original audio file without saving changes.
Open the image file in QuickTime Player Pro, select all (Command, a) and Copy (Command, c). Open the new audio file, select all and "Add to Selection & Scale" from the Edit menu. The image will be added to the audio track.
Open the Movie Properties window and "Extract" (upper left of the window) the new video track. It will open in a new Player window. Close the audio and video track version without saving but name and save the extracted video track. Repeat these steps for each image.

  • When adding audio to my webpage do I have to add a photo as well?

    Hello,
I just set up my website using iweb and it was really fun and easy. I added an audio file to one of my pages and it required me to add a photo or it wouldn't add the song.
    Can this be changed?
    Thanks, Chad
    Powerbook G4 1.5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

A clip from the help file:
    To add audio:
In the site organizer, select the webpage you want to add the audio to.
    Do one of the following:
To add a single audio file, drag it to the image placeholder on a webpage or to the webpage canvas. If you drag the audio file to the image placeholder on a blog (the Blog or Podcast template), iWeb creates a podcast. (See the podcast topics below.)
To add more than one audio file, drag them to the webpage canvas. (Select more than one file at a time by Command-clicking.)
To add links to the songs in the iTunes Music Store (not the audio files themselves), drag a playlist (from the Media Browser or iTunes) or a song from the iTunes Music Store to the webpage canvas.
If you added audio files (not links), you can drag a graphics file to the placeholder above each song's audio controls. Or you can create a text box with a solid color fill to put over the placeholder. You can resize the graphic and the audio controls by dragging the handles.

  • Integrating still photos over video but keeping existing audio

I am currently trying to make a video that includes still photos. I have the video clips i want in my final project, as well as the photos. I am having a problem keeping the existing audio playing while my still photos are shown. I want to make it so you see photos while I am talking about them in the video clip, but then allows it to return to the video in the same duration...let me know what you think.

In iMovie/Preferences, make sure that Advanced Options are turned on.
Drag your photo from the Photo Browser and drop it on top of the video clip at the frame where you want it to start. A contextual menu will pop up. Choose "Cutaway".

  • Audio/still photos in an iMovie project

Hi, I am working on a project where I will videotape someone speaking. I hope to have some of the project be video of her speaking, as well as still photos and other video included. BUT I would like to have the person speaking the entire time. In other words, she will be sharing a story and at times I will show photos and/or video of what she is talking about. What is the easiest way to do this? Do I just videotape the whole thing and then extract audio and delete clips and put the still photos in where I've deleted clips? Will that work and keep the audio on track when I return to the person speaking? Thanks for your help!!!!

Yep you got it! You can leave the video, just use "paste over at playhead"

  • Adding still photo to video

I have a short video that I want to add a few still photos into, but I don't want to disrupt the flow of sound. What I mean is, the sound needs to keep lined up with the video even when the still is playing. I tried to crop the portion of video I wanted to eliminate and checking it's size and making the still the same size. Deleting the video and placing the still in it's place. I don't think this will work because the still can't be made the same size as the eliminated video. I hope I'm saying this correctly.

There is a function called Paste Over at Playhead, accessed from the Advanced menu, that is designed to handle this sort of thing.
So, if you want to insert a still into a video, and have the audio continue to play while the still is playing, you would first check the box in your iMovie general preferences to Extract Audio When Using "Paste Over at Playhead". Then you place your still in the timeline, Control-copy it, place your playhead in the spot in the video where you want to insert the still, and then select Paste Over at Playhead from the Advanced menu. The still will be inserted and the audio will continue to play while the still is being played.
If you do not want the audio to play while the still is playing, follow the same procedure as above, except first go to your iMovie general preferences and uncheck the box that says Extract Audio When Using "Past Over at Playhead".
Play around with it a little until you get what you want.

  • Still photos disappear from video

I am just learning Premiere Elements for a newspaper where I work and designed a 4-minute video in which I dropped into the Timeline in 2 different place a series of four still photos. When I re-opened the file this morning, all the photos were missing from the timeline (the rest of the video was fine). In adding the photos through the 'Get Media' tab should the program not have added them for good or are the photos as they show in the Premiere Elements Project pointing to files on my desktop? In that case, perhaps I moved the original photo file folder? Does that original folder need to remain in one place for the life of the project? I may have uploaded the stills from a file in my paper's Staging area that is purged the following day.
Thanks for any insights. I have since re-imported the photos adn re-done the timeline which was a hassle.
    Douglas

    Douglas,
I found that the FLV played fine on my cable-modem connection (via my wireless g to my laptop). Now, for faster Export, you might weigh the lower connection speeds vs the resulting quality. Personally, I err on the side of quality, until the Webmaster starts complaining that too many users are still on dial-up, but that's just me.
Now, I was listening on the laptop on the patio (not the most critical listening environment, or method), but found nothing objectionable. The overall Audio levels might be a bit low, but at least should not blow speakers, if users have the volume set to max - unlike some music videos. The lack of an external mic connection is a big drawback, even on some higher-end video cameras.
I also found the result quite good. My wife has the G-10, but has never used it as a video capture device - impressive in your use.
The subject and location were interesting, as well. It's been far too long since I hiked the New River and surrounding areas.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Hunt
PS - did you solve the disappearing stills issue?

  • How do you drop a still photo into a video?

how do you drop a still photo into a video -- while continuing the audio track unchanded?

by popular demand, Kelli Applies Lip Liner to Audrey's Lips has been completely re-mastered. (ok, it was just one person who asked, but she's a very intelligent and articulate observer of such matters.  she noted that the clip suggests "interesting possibilities", but that men probably would be unaware of that.  i explained that "men are pretty simple, so we don't see too many moves ahead."  she laughed.)
i believe that in an earlier post i indicated that in the re-mastered version i would delete the in-camera audio and dub in the audio from the Zoom H4n audio recorder.  this i did.
(syncing the video and audio continues to be a nightmare, though ).
besides signifcantly improving the sound quality, using a separately recorded audio source allowed me to drop (2) still photos into the video track, and still preserve the continuity of the recorded conversation.
dropping in the stills the correct way (unlike in the first re-mastered video) was easier than i thought it would be.  it's just a matter of dragging the Premiere Elements 7's red vertical timeline-cursor to the point on the timeline where you want the insert to begin, and then dragging and dropping the still photo alongside the red cursor.  the amount of time the still will appear can be shortened or lengthened by dragging with the mouse -- the same way any other file can be extended or contracted.
the video coming out from the still was now running behind the soundtrack.  but, the timeline shows the exact duration of the still, so the video coming out was shortened with the mouse by that same duration, and then the audio and video were back in sync.
to add the "sound effect" of the camera's shutter clicking (actually its mirror slapping) before each still appears, i found a point on the audio recording that had the click of my camera actually taking a still, and that had only a little audio from the models underneath it.  removing all the audio before and after the sound of the camera click was, again, just a matter of finding the start/stop points i wanted, moving the timeline's red cursor to those points, and using the mouse to drag the ends of the audio file alongside the cursor.
because i wanted the sound of the camera click to merge with the converation anyway, i just put the audio file of the click on its own audio track (which allowed me to separately control its volume).
however, when i tried to copy and paste the audio file of the camera click to the beginning of the second still photo, i was not able to copy and paste by the normal method of using the mouse to right-click-file/left-click-"copy"/left-click-"paste".  eventually, i tried doing so by clicking on "edit" on the menu bar at the upper left and then clicking on "copy" and "paste", and there was no problem.  (go figure.)
as with the other re-mastered video, i brightened, increased contrast, made the hue a bit warmer, and added a little sharpening.  (this has to be done individually for each separate video file that makes up the whole piece -- at least that's what i did.)
interestingly, the audio level can be tweaked directly on the timeline by using the mouse to drag up or down a horizontal yellow line running the length of the audio file.
i again rendered in Adobe Flash Video (.flv).  (annoyingly, in XP at least, there's a default download destination that has to be reset everytime you want to save in a different location).  from a drop-down menu i selected "NTSC Flash Video 700k" (just in case) and left the file name as "Untitled" (since no matter what i change it to, it saves as "untitled.flv", so i have to rename it anyway once it's saved).
i went into "Advanced..." and, to preserve the dimensions and the HD, i unchecked "Resize Video", chose "Same as source" for the frame rate, and checked 2 "Encoding Passes" (just in case).
for some reason, everytime i click the "save" button, it asks what i want to call these settings.  if i use the name i used for the same settings on the previous go-round, it says that that name is already used and (impliedly) can't be used again.  so, i add the new date, and yet another name for the same settings gets added to the drop-down menu (odd).
once the compressed .flv file was saved, it was an easy upload to youtube.
btw, it seems that the Elements 7's Audio Mix defaults to 0 dB, OR whatever the setting was in the prior saved version, unless i use the mouse to continuously "ride the slider pot".  that's ok for a 48-second video, but does anyone know of a way the dB can be set so that it just sits there, instead of moving back to where it previously was

  • Still photos in PRE 12 and output to HD DVD for TV

    Hi,
I was using Final Cut Express 4 HD on my old iMac but bought a new late 2013 iMac and learned that FCE will not run on Mavericks (and if you install it you will destroy your OS X plugin manager without any chance to repair it)!
Ok FC Pro X is far way to expensive for me right now, as I just use the app to build nicer photo slide shows. iMove has just a single track and therefore I'm already on the limits. Ok this is where PRE 12 comes into the game and so far I love what I see in the editor. But when it comes to exporting and sharing my work for Full HD TV I'm more than disappointed.
Here is what I use. I exported all my images with 1920x1080 pixels as JPG, max quality with 72dpi and they are looking great on my iMac.
When I import the stills into PRE they are OK when I see them in the editor. I switched off the still optimization feature and set the highest quality to render the preview.
When looking at the clip on my iMac in the editor is ok so far, but at full screen the images are unsharp, blurry and have ghosting and artefacts. Well I could live with that when it would only be the preview but exporting the video a DVD with Full HD the result is as the preview, images are unsharp, blurry showing artefacts and ghosting. And I can't make it better by manipulating the settiings in the DVD dialog. Maybe I'm doing it wrong!?
The only way to make my photos in the video looking tack sharp and brilliant as they are is when I use MPEG format with Full HD settings and look at the video with quick time.
Why don't I get the same result when burning the video on DVD? Any hints?
In regards to the DVD quality I had no problems with FCE 4 HD! And the images (still photos) are the same footage I used to compare the output!
Secondly I just use the PRE 12 trial version, hope that this is not the reason? The annoying "always on" banner saying that it is a trial version is already something I dislike, but what I experience and makes it even worse is that PRE 12 is crashing again and again on different steps I take, sometimes when I change a setting, sometimes when I scrub, sometimes when selecting a fade, sometimes when importing footage and other step....
With all this the disappointing quality on DVD's and the many crashes I can't find a lot of arguments right now to make the trial a full version?!
Cheers and many thanks for help!
    Happy New Year!

First, I want you to assure that you are not bothered by pile ups of preview files, conformed audio, and conformed video files. If these files are in the default location, please check wherever they may be in Premiere Elements 12 Mac (I am strictly an Elements Windows user)....
Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files Folder....preview files
Media Cache Folder (cfa and pek files)....conformed audio
    Media Cache (.mcdb files)....conformed video
Check Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks to assure that all the scratch disk categories are directed to a hard drive save location with adequate free space to accept them.
Now for the project itself...set the Premiere Elements 12 project preset manually, using
    File Menu/New/Project
    PAL
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p25
Before you close out of there, make sure that you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project". Then, when you enter the Premiere Elements workspace, import your source media into the project with Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets.
Render the Timeline and then decide if the image quality is impoved. You might explore applying a very small Sharpen effect to the images. Have the others taken you through the drill of evaluating your computer video card and its driver version?

  • How to create audio, video, and photo in a list view format

I'm creating a webstire entirely out of Flash using CS5 for a paranormal investigation group. In the past, using a Website Tonight template from GoDaddy had placed either an audio, video, or photograph with text above each item discusssing the content. Now, they would like this type of feature in the Flash website. I'm new to Flash, but seasoned in many other Adobe products ... not that this helps ... much!
Anyways, the website is looking great aside from this one set back, so I'm hoping someone out there can give me a helping hand. I'm willing to purchase a third-party template, but to incorporate that into our Flash file, seems daunting.
    AUDIO
We need to load an audio that can play, pause, rewind, loop, and stop at the very least.
Then have text describing the situation around the audio.
repeat ... and so forth ...
New audio will be added to this section every week or so, and all the components need to scroll as the screen fills up. When adding new audio, we would add the new audio and text to the top of the list, pushing the remaining audio files down.
    VIDEO
We need to load video footage with all the button features needed to play, stop, etc. I have found adding video quite easy, but to get the player to move with the text as the frame it is contained in scrolls down is another story. How do you do that?
Text describing the video contents will be above or next to the video player.
repeat ... and so forth ...
New video will be added to this section every week or so, and all the  components need to scroll as the screen fills up. When adding new video,  we would add the new video and text to the top of the list, pushing the  remaining video files down.
    PHOTOS
    ditto as others
    Thanks!!

As mentioned, building a custom application can be tricky, especially if you are not very familiar with Flash.
So you want a Web page with an audio player and selection list at the top (or where ever) and then a video player section, along with its playlist, and then at the bottom of the page you want a photo display area... Is that correct? and the scrolling you mentioned is because the page needs to be long enough to hold all 3 components? is that right?
Have you instead considered just using 3 different frames, one frame for each component and simple buttons to jump from audio to video to photos?
Or, skip the scrolling in Flash and let the html/css take care of the scrolling, just like any normal Web page. Just make the .swf as long as needed to display all your content.
Since you are new at this type of a project, I'd suggest you start small, take the project in steps... just build the audio player... then the video player... then your photo slide show..
Only after you have 3 working moduals would you but them together into one .fla
And yes, learn to use xml for ALL the data, audio, video, and photos.... very easy to update without having to re-publish any of the Flash.
Here is a good source for tutorials:
    http://www.gotoandlearn.com/index.php?currentpage=11
    Flash and xml
    http://www.gotoandlearn.com/index.php?currentpage=13
learn to use NetStream to play your videos, much more versatile and powerful than using the FLVPlayback component
But learning how to incorporate xml into your Flash project is very important in a project like this. And then broken down into 3 components, it's really not that tough to build a project like this.
    Best wishes,

  • Why can't I split a still photo clip?

    Hello...
I am working on a photo montage using imovie.  There are also video clips added into the project as well.
I can split a video clip.  No problem.
But when I go to split a still photo in the project that is from iphoto, instead of splitting the clip, it DUPLICATES the entire clip and adds it after the clip that I was trying to split.
It is necessary that I be able to split clips to the beat of the music.  And for some reason I can't split still photos.
    What am I doing wrong?

Have you considered using the Beat Marker feature? It is much faster.

  • Creating cross-dissolve from still photo to video

    Hello all ...
I'm try to create a simple cross-dissolve between a black-and-white photo (imported into FCE as an RGB Photoshop file) and a color (1440x1080) video clip. My problem is that FCE will only insert the dissolve on the right (video) side of the edit, the result being that the photo abruptly goes to black, followed by a gradual fading-in of the video. This is not the effect I want – I'm hoping to create a smoother transition between the two. I suspect that I haven't saved the still photo in the correct format, but I can't seem to find any help in my various FCE books.
So: How do I apply the transition to both sides of the edit? Is it even possible?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
    Alec

Tom, I figured it out. The audio for the video clip was overlapping the edit (i.e. it extended to the left, so that the video clip's audio ran under the still pic). When I got rid of the (easily replaced) audio, the regular cross-dissolve worked.
Now I just need to figure out how to make the transition last longer than 13 frames!
Thanks for your prompt responses ... I really appreciate it.
    Merry Christmas!

  • Can't adjust clip duration of still photos in iMovie '11

Anyone having the same problem? I inserted a still photo in one of my projects in iMovie which has a a clip duration of 5s when added. I clicked the cogwheel icon then chose the inspector to adjust the duration. I've managed to changed it to 3s but after I clicked "Done", the clip duration is still under 5s.
I didn't encountered this problem before in iMovie '10 and I've searched over at Google and found out that many iMovie '11 users have the same dilemma.
Any workaround you can suggest? Thanks!

"problems setting duration for still photos and transitions in iMovie '11"
A number of people have experienced the same problem and written about it on discussions. Lots of difference solutions as well. If you search using the title quoted above, you can read the solution I found. It's more complicated than it should be. I've never had to fiddle as much with duration times for transitions and still photos. Nevertheless, the steps I have described work for me. You will also find the steps another reader offered that may work for you if all of your transitions are set for the same durations and all of the still photos are as well.
