Adding captivate "slides" to presenter

I have a presentation created in captivate. I would like to add each of the slides from captivate to a corresponding slide in PowerPoint and publish. I want to do this because I like the sidebar and other features that presenter offers.
I first publish my captivate file, then I go into PowerPoint and use the swf insert function. I only see one file, with the first "slide".  how do I get a file that would correspond to each of the captivate slides?
the other way to do this if there was a way to have the same side bar features in captivate as their is with presenter, but I don't think there is.
Captivate V 5
Presenter V 7.

PowerPoint 2007
thanks

sbalk,
A Captivate project, by default, creates a consolidated SWF file; so taking  your question a bit further, in order to have separate SWFs on the same number  of slides in Presenter, you'd have to have the same number of independant SWF  files from Captivate to begin with.
However, there's actually a much bigger challenge here, and that has to do  with the integration of Captivate 5 files w/ Presenter.  Without getting  technical here, the bottom line is that inserting Cp5 files into the current  version of Adobe Presenter will not work or operate properly.  This has to do  with a "programming mismatch" between the two software applications.
My best recommendation is to link out to your Captivate content from a slide  in PowerPoint.  Paresh at Adobe put together a brief tutorial on this: https://admin.adobe.acrobat.com/_a295153/presenterhyperlinks/
So in order to have separate Captivate SWFs across a number of slides in  Presenter, you're probably looking at splitting up your Captivate project into a  number of smaller "units" and then linking to each unit from a slide in  PowerPoint.  Not ideal, I know, but until Presenter undergoes a  revision/release/upgrade, there's not much better news here.

  • Can you manually advance a Captivate slide presentation with a remote control and a projector.

I have published a large volument of PowerPoint presentations with Captivate 5.0 and intend to distribute the presentations to live instructors as a means to control content delivered live by instructors to the students.  The files are aggregrated into groups of lessons and published to PDF with a Table of Contents.
We need to avoid manually advancing the show from the laptop.
Having difficulty determining how to use remote control via laptop and projector to advance the next slide or presentation. Can't get it to work. Was able to do so previously with PowerPoint slides converted to PDF shows. Remotes/Laser pointers worked fine. But now that I have processed the shows through Captivate 5.0 can seem to find a remote that will work with the new PDF or SWF with our systems.
We use a laptop and projection system, so need to be able to advance the show to the next "slide" manually and are trying to figure out how to do it with a remote control.
Has anyone else experienced this challenge and did you find a solution?.

    Hi Carey,
if you can apply the letter "A" for "next" to your remote control?
Then you could add a shortcut to your buttons in the captivate file.
    In deapth:
Go to a PPT importet slide (using the "click mouse" option to continue".
Click somewhere in the screen (clickbox_xx will be selected).
Properties - Action - Shortcut. Click it and press "A".
    Click somewhere on the stage.
Now when you press your next button on the remote, Captivate will receive an "A" and continue to the next slide.
    Hope this helps

  • Link to RH topics from embedded Captivate slide?

    RH10, WebHelp, Captivate 6
    Hi,
I've been using RH for years, but I'm new at Captivate.
I want to have a rollover effect in a WebHelp topic, whereby the user can hover the mouse pointer over a graphic and a window will pop up. Inside the pop-up window will be hyperlinks to topics within the same WebHelp project.
My understanding so far is that I can insert a Captivate slide in WebHelp topic to achieve this. The Captivate slide would contain the background graphic, and a "rollover slidelet".
My question is, at what point do I create the hyperlinks to WebHelp topics  in the slidelet? Must I do this in Captivate, and if so how do I specify the target path of the link?
Or can I do this linking after I embed the Captivate slide and slidelet into the WebHelp project?

Hmmm, for some reason I keep forgetting they added that capability to Captivate 6.
Okay then, what you have to do is consider where the Captivate movie will be (as in what folder) at the time it is presented within the WebHelp. So if you are linking to topic XXX.htm and inside RoboHelp, that topic is inside a folder named FolderOne, it's going to depend on the folder the Captivate movie is in. Often, they are inserted at the project root. So if this turns out to be the case, you would insert the following into the field:
    FolderOne/XXX.htm
I'll give my theory a try and see if it works for me.
Keep in mind that the links will likely fail when you test locally unless you add the project location to the list of trusted locations for the Flash Player.
    Cheers... Rick

  • RTMP video repeating (playing twice) while Captivate Slide paused. Anyone else seen this ?

I have a project that is published as SCORM 1.2 with a bunch of RTMP videos served from CloudFront. I tend to set the Slide duration to 5 secs and the Buffer value to 3Secs and choose Auto-Play, Auto-Rewind Display for Rest of Slde, and select "Pause slide till end of video". These settings typically have worked fine but recently some of the videos are repeating (playing twice) while Captivate Slide paused. I've tried all sorts of combinations but it seems intermittent. I thought of not pausing the Slide and setting the slide duration to the video duration plus a little extra but am a little worried that if there is buffering that the Captivate presentation will go ahead before the video finishes. Could anyone shed any light ?

yes, they are SWF 8 files, and i see them separately after i
publish from captivate...is there a way to force them to embed (if
thats better)? it seems like it kind of randomly decides which it
    wants to do.
also, i do have the source files and i'll try that blank
frame and let you know if that fixes anything. thanks!

  • Is there a way that I can see more than just the next slide in Presentation mode (as an old version of PowerPoint used to do)?

Is there a way that I can see more than just the next slide in Presentation mode (as an old version of PowerPoint used to do)?

Sorry - should have been more specific. As far as I can see, Keynote will only allow me to see the current slide and the next slide on my laptop when I am presenting a slideshow through a projector. But an old version of PowerPoint allowed me to show the current slide....and (adjustable) many more slides ahead (say 10)....so I could simply jump ahead to a 'future' slide and skip several slides in between. Net result being that I was able to matcgh my slides to group discussions rather than stick to a fixed, predetermined slide show.
As much as it pains me, without this facility - PowerPoint (old verson, not current one) is more useful for me! :-((

  • CP8 - How to embed a pdf into a captivate slide (for LMS publication)?

    Hi,
How to embed a pdf into a captivate slide (for LMS publication)?
    WebObject doesn't work...
    Thanks

I accomplished this by publishing my PDF to a directory I called "PDFWebObjectEmbedFiles" on my webserver outside of where my published project lives.
For example...the PDF to embed lived at:
    http://mydomain.com/PDFWebObjectEmbedFiles/file_name_of_PDF_to_embed.pdf
Then I went inside of Captivate and inserted the Web Object widget.  I put the URL to my PDF inside the widget.  Then it loads perfectly with no problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • Bug in adding Question slides?

Firstly, thank to those who replied to my previous rant... restarting solved that problem.
Current rant: I think there's a bug in the Adding Question slides... but maybe it's me.
    Here's the scenario:
I have a Master slide that says "MCQ, T/F, FIB, Sequence" so I think it's the master for the T/F slide.
When I go to Question Slide…, and add 1 T/F slide, it produces a new slide with the correct look from the Master slide.
BUT if I to to Question Slide… and add 2 or more T/F slides, the slides it produces look pretty much like the Master slide (and it says the name of the master slide in the Properties panel), but it's got things wrong with it... the Question X of Y is in the wrong place (the opposite corner, actually), and the "Correct/Incorrect/You must answer" boxes are one below the other... totally different than what's on the Master slide.
I also have issues with the GIFT import... Tryiing to import 10 T/F questions, I swear that the file is UTF-8 perfect, but it's telling me it's the wrong syntax. Why is this so hard?
    Thank you for the assistance.
    Ben

Thanks for the good suggestion Tony. Luckily I only do a limited number of these and they involve maybe five graphics at a time. I reckon the time it would take to import, apply the motion then export from Motion into FCP would be uneconomic.
I have done more tests and it definately only happens in DV timelines when copying scale motion keyframes from one image to another.
One solution is to manually copy the keyframes which is admittedly a little tedious. The other is to lower the motion filtering to fast which, as far as I can tell doesn't affect the quality to a noticeable extent.
I would say it's a bug unless anyone else can tell me where I'm going wrong?

  • Changing text in a Captivate slide?

I thought I saw a demonstration in the past that
showed to the text within a Captivate slide could be modified. The
slide were imported from PowerPoint originally. Would I have to
delete the slide and recreate another one in PowerPoint and import
it? I hope there is an alternative to that. Anyone have any
    suggestions?
    Thanks, as always!
    Dean

    Salim --
While you didn't really address me with your query, I can
    comment on a relevant workflow.
In very large project teams, the individuals doing the
software screen captures are not necessarily the Instructional
Designers. I often come across situations where the Instructional
Designer has created the basic content for a lesson using
PowerPoint (because that's the tool of their choice) -- but that
content needs to be blended with Captivate content.
If it were possible to bring in the text from a PowerPoint
project, then I'd no longer have to retype many slides of text --
and in the process, risk introducing typographical errors.
Those kinds of options remove workflow constraints that
frustrate customers. Some don't want to be forced to use a screen
recording tool to organize their material -- and the Captivate
users don't want to rebuild supporting content that someone
    upstream already put together.

  • Swf on captivate slide too big

I created a flash animation that looks like movie credits --
text which scrolls from bottom to top. The flash animation is 590 x
    150. The published swf file looks fine. But when I put it on a
Captivate slide (with Insert>Animation) where the Captivate
    project is 630 x 425 , the animation object ignores its 590x150
size and plays full screen, moving over the top of other elements
on the slide. I've checked the animation properties--the size of
the object is set to 590 x 150.
How can I make it play at the size I intended?

Did you create the SWF in Flash and then embed it in
Captivate? If so, did you publish the Flash SWF for the same Flash
Player version as your Captivate movie. For example, if you are
publishing your Captivate movie for FP7, did you also publish your
Flash SWF for FP7 (or earlier)?
If your Flash SWF is for v8, and your Captivate movie is for
v7, then that MIGHT be the problem.

  • How to mimic a two-projector slide-show presentation?

This may not be the best place to post this question. Please let me know if there is an alternative forum.
I want to present a few hundred 1920 x 1080 visual "segments" (S1, S2 ...) that cross-fade into each other at the press of a button. No audio is involved except the presenter's voice. A presentation might run like this:
S1 - Still. (Press button to dissolve to next segment)
S2 - Still with preset zoom-in. (Press button to dissolve to next segment, even if zoom not finished)
S3 - Still with pan. (Press button to dissolve to next segment, even if pan not finished)
    S4 - Short video. (Press button…)
    S5 - Still. (Press button…)
The collection of segments would be generated by Premiere (or other program). However, I would prefer NOT to use a computer for the presentation, but rather, a BluRay player connected to a digital projector via a HDMI cable. The data does not have to be in BluRay format. It may, for example, be any type of file readable by the player, and stored on a CD, DVD, USB stick, or SDHX card. The idea is to insert the media with the relevant file on it (or files), press PLAY, and use one of the remote control buttons to move forward to the next segment.
In case you haven't got my drift: it's similar to an old fashioned two-projector slide-show presentation, but fully digital and some of the images move.
Very simple concept, but how can I achieve the desired result? Almost all image-editing programs could assemble the segments (even iPhoto, for example), but how do I achieve the smooth cross-fading and the move-to-next-segment functions? If I was writing a flowchart for what I want, it would be:
    1. Complete the segment currently showing, then freeze image and wait for press of NEXT SEGMENT button.
    2. If NEXT SEGMENT button is pressed before the end of segment, cross-fade to next segment.
    3. Loop to 1.
    Any suggestions most appreciated.

I would look into ProShow Producer. It is designed to do much of what you want.
Encore has a limited SlideShow feature, that does allow for manual advance, but the other aspects, like the Zoom will probably not be what you want. You might give it a try, just to test. One limitation is that one can only have 99 slides per SlideShow, but then can have 99 SlideShows, IIRC.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • URL-linked slides in presenter view?

I have created some Keynote slides that contain Web View insertions -- shots of live Web pages. I want to click on these in my Keynote presentation using a projector. But I have not figured out how to do this. The two-slide view I have as a presenter on my PowerBook allows me to scroll over each of those two slides, but I have to scroll to the projected slide on the big screen to get a live pointer that I can then click to engage my browser to open that Web site. But the screen is BEHIND ME during the presentation. What am I doing wrong? Why can't Keynote give me the ability to be able to click on slides in presenter view so I can open those live Web sites from there? Help ...
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Thanks, Gary. I also have ended up mirroring the display in order to have hyperlinks available. The problem with that, however, is that one forfeits the advantages of the many tools that are built into the presentation mode.
Most significantly, when mirroring displays I can not see the note secton. When lecturing, it would be very helpful to be able to refer to details that I want to use for embellishment, but that I do not want to include in the slides themselves. I would also like to use notes to remind me to put a particular question to the class.
Also significant is not being able to view the upcoming slide/bullet, nor the clock, which would make it much easier to keep things flowing smoothly and at the right pace.
I really hope Apple makes hyperlinks active in presenter view in the next update. It's hard to understand why it's not the case currently.

  • Editing a slide DURING presentation

    Hello,
I am wondering whether editing a slide while presenting it on the second monitor is possible.
This would be great for brainstorming ideas (eg. fill a table with ideas on several issues, according to the audience's feedback).
I tired several times, but it didn't work. Sure Live Quartz technology is powerful enough to do so... so is this feature available ? Is it planned ?

No, you can't edit a slide while it's being displayed, but there are applications that allow you to draw over the slide (those drawings can't be saved in any way other than a screenshot, though*). I think it can be done, but Keynote is more of a straightforward presentation tool than a brainstorming app, so I wouldn't imagine that this is on the list of "things to do".
But, you can always send feedback to Apple
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/keynote.html
*speaking of screenshot, if you change the format of the file being captured to PDF, would that separate the image into layers allowing you to see the foreground images OVER the background or is it all flattened into a bitmap?

  • Importing other Captivate Slides

When I import other captivate slides or objects into my
current project, if I try to save after that point, my system
becomes unstable and Captivate comes up "Not Responding" and will
not close by any means other than a system restart.
    Anyone else have this problem?
    Solutions??

I am having the same problem. When I import a slide, any
slide, and try to save the project with the imported slide, the
application goes, really, really, slow. My computer has 1GB of Ram.
When Windows XP is finished loading, I still have 500MB of RAM for
applications. I also checked to make sure this incident was not
isolated on my computer. So I installed Captivate 2 on another
computer with 1GB of RAM and it still had the same problem I
described above. The funny thing is, if I leave my computer on
overnight, the import finally works. But that is absurd, Captivate
2 users can't wait more than 5 min for a slide to import. Somebody
help me! Is their an upgrade I am not aware of?

  • Flash Slide Show Presentation Question

I have created a slide show presentation in Flash format. On
some of my slides, I have animations that run when the slide first
loads. However, as I do not want the animation to continue looping
preventing the viewer from reading the slide, I used actionscript
to place a stop action at the end of the slide animation.
The problem is that if the user uses the previous button in
the slide show to return to the slide the animation does not run.
It will only run again if the entire slide show is restarted. Is
there a simple way to fix this?
    Thanks

The steps are fairly simple. I create a listener ,a loader
and an empty movie clip to load the images into. I write a
    listener_mc.onLoadInit function then I use the loader_mc.loadClip
to load the images into the empty movieclip. When the loading is
complete the onLoadInit function gets called and you can resize and
    center your images.
