Adding cloud servers to my network

Dear All,
I've set up an Amazon cloud server instance and can communicate with it
successfully using the secure shell as well as exchange files using sftp.
Although I can communicate with the server it is not really part of my network.
I want my applications that have networking features to start recognising it as
if it were a device attached to my computer so I can distribute rendering jobs
between my mac and this server.
How do I do that?
Regards
El

Do not, by any means, totally remove the key/password.   Doing so removes all security from your wireless network (allowing others to see what you are doing) and also would allow anyone within range to connect to and use your wireless network.
Instead, try change the protocol being used for the security key by logging into the router.   If you have WPA2 available, use that.  If not, WPA, followed by WEP 128-bit.
Post your results and if necessary, we'll try something else.

  • Are hp eprint cloud servers down?

I have a M451dn that the president our our company uses to print to. I have a random email address set up using HP ePrint so he forwards emails from his iphone and they print in the office. This has been working well until today, when nothing he sends to that address prints. HPeprint account online says the printer is offline. I can print over the network directly to the printer with no problems, and we are not having internet connectivity issues.
I deleted the printer from my eprint account online and I'm trying to re-add it.
When I try to print a new "info" sheet, either from the web UI or the printer, it sits at "downloading from web" and then says "connection issues".
Based on my troubleshooting, it's HP's cloud servers that aren't working. Is this possible, and is anyone else experiencing the same?

Hi bxm. Servers do in fact get updated. Some times rebooting your device or printing the web services info page. If there is  (probably from the EWS of the printer in the web services section) will select a new active server. For real time server status call HP Cloud Services toll free @1-855-785-2777.

Using the personal hotspot feature on the iPhone 5, I am able to connect to the internet.  We also use Juniper NCP client to access our local system from a remote location.  A VPN connection is created, but I am unable to access servers in our network.  This same functionality works using my colleagues iPhone 4.
Both phones are running iOS 6.1.3.  I tried to reset network settings, but still unable to ping servers in our network.  This is a feature that our sales team relies heavily on when out of the office.  Hoping someone has some suggestions on what is different between the 2 phones.

    Hi,
Generally, this issue should be related with something called split tunneling, since you’re using a F5 vpn client, you need to look for something related to split tunneling in the F5 VPN client's documentations.
Here is an example, share it with you as a reference.

Subject: Adding cloud to a picture
Ah, thank you for the clarification.
Now, this is for Photoshop, and may, or may not work in PSElements (I just do not know the full capabilities and limitations of that program), so you may need to "read between the lines," and interpolate to PSElements.
    1. In PS (probably the same here in PSE), Open both your original Image, with the airplane, and "cloud" Image. Select an area around your "cloud" including some sky. I would probably use the Lasso for this Selection, and just do it roughly, and by eye. I would also set the Feather to about 3 - 5 pixels to soften the Selection. We will clean up later, and soften even more, so do not worry if the Selection around the cloud is rough. No since getting critical at this point. Copy (CtrlC on the PC), and then go to the "airplane" Image. Paste that cloud into it (CtrlV on the PC).
    2. Here is where my lack of knowledge of PSE will show, so you may need to do things a bit differently in that program. Now you have two Layers in the airplane Image, the Background and the "cloud" Layer, which wil be named Layer 1 (can be changed to "Cloud" or maybe "Cloud 1," if you will be adding more.
    3. You will probably need to adjust the size and placement of the cloud, so hit Ctrl+T to call up Free Transform, and you will get a Bounding Box with an Anchor Point, and also Handles on the Bounding Box.
    4. Clickdrag inside the Bounding Box to Move the Cloud, and clickdrag on those Handles to resize the cloud Layer. To constrain the porportions, hold down Shift, while click+dragging on one of the corner Handles.
    5. When you have the cloud Layer where you want it, and sized to suit, Dbl-click inside the Bounding Box to comit your changes.
    6. Go to Selection>Load Selection, and by default it should be Layer 1 (unless you have Renamed it) Transparency. That is what you want, and if not the default, use the drop-down list to choose that.
    7. This will load the Selection used to Copy the cloud, but if you resized and moved the cloud Layer about, will automatically make those changes to the Selection. Here, you get the "marching ants" of the Selection.
    8. With the ants visible, go back to Selection, and Choose Save Selection, and here, use the drop-down to get to Layer 1 (or the name of the cloud Layer) Layer Mask.
    9. In the Layers Palette, you will get a new Layer Mask icon in the cloud Layer.
    10. Click on that Layer Mask icon, to make it active. Note that the colors in the Toolbox will change to black and white. If they do not, then you are NOT working on the Layer Mask. To verify that you are, go to the Channels Palette and make sure that the Layer 1 (or Renamed Layer) Layer Mask is active in the Channels Palette.
    11. Use a soft-edged Brush and paint in, or out (black paints in, and white paints out) the Layer Mask to clean up things around your cloud. You can switch between the black and the white by hitting the X key. Work slowly, and do not hesitate to decrease the Brush Size to get in close to the cloud. If you make a mistake, and have gotten past the point, where Undo (Ctrl+Z on the PC) works, do not worry. You have NOT done anything to the pixels in the cloud Layer, but ONLY the Layer Mask. Just paint in, or paint out that work on the Layer Mask.
You might want to go to the Background Layer and work on the color of the sky area, to get it to match closely with any sky area in the cloud Layer. To do that, just Select the airplane, and Invert that Selection, so as to protect the airplane from any color, or density changes.
If you have more clouds to add, just repeat the process for each of those. Especially with more than one cloud, I would definitely Rename the cloud Layers, so you know which Layer and which Layer Mask you are working on.
If PSE does not have Layer Masks, or if their operations differ from the above, post to the PSE forum, and be sure to add my instructions, so a PSE user can instruct you where things differ in PSE.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Automatic migration of servers in a networked application

Does anybody have any ideas about how to automatically migrate servers in a networked
application? The tmadmin utility has commands to suspend/resume and migrate servers,
which you can invoke manually when a node fails. But how can we automate this
    process?

    Peter
We expect to be using a cluster, so I guess I will use the cluster infrastructure
    to fire off scripts.
    Thanks

    Peter Holditch <[email protected]> wrote:
    Tom,
You can write code with the MIB to migate servers. This code could also
    poll
    the MIB to detect failures.
Beware, however, that a temporary network failure could look like a machine
failure, in which case automatic migration could cause more problems
    than it
solves. That's why Tuxedo doesn't attempt automatic migration.
For very HA solutions, a hardware HA system such as HP's MCServiceGuard,
Veritas, etc. would fire scripts to migrate the Tux servers when a failure
    was
    (reliably) detected.

  • Why can't I see all servers on my network with Lion?

Why can't I see all servers on my network with Lion, but I can with Snow Leopard? Am I missing a setting somewhere? This is really frustrating and I'll have to go back to snow leopard if it can't be fixed. I can see other macs fine, but network servers and PC servers are missing. Sometimes they do appear in 'Shared All' and I can connect OK, but then they disappear again. Is this a bug with Lion, or am I missing something really simple? I can't work properly at the moment, so Lion has been a disaster for me. Any help really appreciated. Thanks

  • Can anyone encourage Rackspace Cloud Servers to include Mac OS X Servers?

Rackspace Cloud Servers is a very good choice for unmanaged hosting and one thing that captured my mind was it only supported Windows Servers 2003 & 2008. I don't like paying for Server Security which in fact Macs don't require you to pay for annual subscriptions like Anti-viruses and Firewall Support. Does anyone want to chip in and contact Rackspace Cloud Sales? I would be glad to if I could use Mac OS X Server in Rackspace Cloud.

P.S. If anyone can help me with this problem, I would be gladly appreciated.

    How big are you talking?
The Mini can handle most medium-sized websites easily, and even some larger sites could be run on the Mini, with a bit more management.
Are you concerned about extreme loads? MacMiniColo offers load balancing, which should allow you to host even the biggest sites, short of requiring an Akamai-type solution. High-availability sites are almost trivial to maintain on a "mini-cluster" behind the load balancer, since you can take one machine out of the cluster, upgrade it, and then force replication to the rest of the cluster once the upgrade proves stable.
For the cost of a single, well-outfitted XServe, you can buy four to five Mini servers. With those machines, even drive failure is minimized, since 500GB is plenty for most midrange websites, and you use the other drive as a mirror of the primary.
Take a good, hard look at what you're intending to stand up in a colocation site. If shelf space is not an issue, there's very little a cluster of Mini Servers cannot handle, with higher redundancy than even the mighty XServe.

  • Adding AAA servers to ACS to use Proxy RADIUS distribution Table

    Hello,
I've added two non ACS radius servers (Radiator) to the AAA servers on Network Config, in order to use them on a proxy distribution table.
I had problems authenticating users through those servers and I did a sniffer trace on the outside interface of the ACS.
What I saw is that ACS sends packets to the AAA server configured as RADIUS on port 1645, not 1812, the expected standard, and port to which the others servers are listening to. How can I change this behaviour?
    Thanks
    Gustavo

ACS by default will listen on both ports 1645 and 1812, the two "standard" Radius ports. However, when talking to a proxy server it will only send them on 1645, by default. To change this you have to go into the registry and change it as follows:
Under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cisco\CiscoAAAv3.x\Hosts\\RADIUS] (where is the server you want to send the 1812 reuests to, and note that you may have to add the RADIUS key if it isn't there already), you can add the following:
    "authPort"=dword:0000066e <<---- 1645
    "acctPort"=dword:0000066d <<---- 1646
    "timeout"=dword:00000001
    "single connection"=dword:00000000
    "strip users"=dword:00000000
You don't need all of them, you can just change the authPort to 1812 (714 in hex) and acctPort to 1813 (0x715) and you should be good to go. Make sure you reboot the server after making the registry changes. Keys are case-sensitive too so make sure you type them in EXACTLY as I've shown above.

    Hi,
    Let’s try the following resolution:
Exchange 2007 server>EMC>server configuration>Hub Transport>Receive connector>properties>Network> add your new company server IP address in the tab “receive mail from remote servers that have these IP addresses”.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:

  • Cloud DP for SCCM - Network Architecture Question

We currently have a full VPN tunnel back to our corporate data center. All of our remote clients are routed back to corporate and make a hairpin turn back to the internet if they attempt to access anything outside of our network.  In other words, we
do not have any sort of split tunnel configuration.
With that said, we have multiple remote locations that only have client workstations and no servers, NAS devices, or anything that can be used for a distrib point we SCCM.  We have been using workstations as distrib points for SCCM, but they are leased
and with so many locations it becomes a management night mare to keep track of when these distribution points come off of lease. With that said, is there any way that we could utilize cloud distribution points without a split tunnel network? Is it not possible
to allow exclusive tunnel to the a cloud DP based on an IP range without having a totally split tunnel network?
For those who may have faced a similar situation or have knowledge in this area -- any help is appreciated.
We are a bit concerned our network would be very congested if we didn't look at routing at least the DP traffic through a split tunnel.

I'm not a networking guy so take my answer with a grain of salt.  If you cannot enable split tunneling for those clients to access the internet WITHOUT going back to corp I don't see the benefit of a cloud DP.  Also, as Peter mentioned, there are
    limitations with a cloud DP.
When I have discussed potential cloud DPs with my customers, we determined that the DP would only be used for Applications.  You can't image from a cloud DP and software updates have the option to go to the internet if your DP doesn't have the package,
which would save you money, so in the end, only apps on the cloud DP.
Without knowing how many clients and the number of remote locations, if placing remote DPs is out of the question, I would leverage BranchCache and have the devices reach back to corp for content.

  • Added second laptop to home network and first laptop connection GONE

Help! I have a WRT54G2 v1.5 wireless-G broadban router set up on my hard-wired computer (XP) and had my new Sony Vaio laptop (Windows 7) connected wirelessly. Everything worked great! Then, yesterday, I added a Dell laptop to the network and my Sony got kicked off the network. I have tried to "add a device" but when I click on the link to do that from Network Magic, I get an error page on the Internet. I saw that someone else had a connection problem so I read the answer posted to their question and clicked on the link and again, get an Internet error. I am connected to the Internet: I checked! What is going on? I need the Dell laptop on the network as it is my new laptop for my job. Help!

Let mw know the model number of router …also tell me the Operating system on laptop.

  • Can't delete Library and Servers alias from Network

    Hi there,
I did a dumb thing and now I can't cope with it's results.
From time to time I do check whether there are wlan networks near the place I live. I just do it out of curiosity and not with the intention of any ill doings. I myself have cable broadband.
Usually all those wlan connections are password protected but recently one wasn't. I checked if I can connect and browse the internet - and I could. Well, after a short while I cut the connection as my own internet access is way faster.
But now the network entry in my finder is mounted and there are aliases for "Library" and "Servers". I think these are the aliases pointing to the computer/server I did connect to before. No problem I thought, but then realized that this is an issue.
I can't delete them anymore or dismount the network folder. Whenever I want to delete those two aliases it says I can't bc I don't have the rights to do it. How I can get rid of those aliases? I guess the original host was a windows PC.
Well, that will teach me not to hassle with other peoples wlan connection
    thanks

  • Permissions in a folder are not applied to new files added by users over shared network

New files added to a shared folder do not inherit the permissions of the folder but rather retain the permissions of the user. Because the purpose of the folder on the network is to allow multiple users access to all the files (read and write), these new files cannot be accessed and editd by others. Is there a way to have the new files automatically inherit the folder permissons? I am aware of the "Apply to enclosed items " drop-down in the Get Info window but this is not practical given the number of new files that are produced and filed.
    THanks,
    JD

If it's the folder is on the boot drive then the only way to accomplish this is with a combination of groups and ACL's as far as I know. There may be other ways but this is the one I know.
You say the folder is on the network but is on the boot disk, how are you setting this up and are the users accessing this all from Mac's? And they all have accounts on this Mac?
In a nutshell you would setup a group that all the users needing to access the folder belong to and then setup the ACL on the fodder so that all member's of that group will have full permission to whatever is in the folder.
So first in Users&Groups create a group for this and add all the users who need access.
The do to the folder and change its group to the group you created and change its mode to 775 (or 770 if you don't want anyone else having even read access on the folder)
    Then enter this
    sudo chmod -R +a "GroupNameCreated  allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,\
    add_subdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directory_inherit"  folderToChange
Now the weird thing is if you look at files in the folder they will appear to have the normal Unix mode of 644 but anyone in the group will have read, write and delete permission on the items in the folder.
I suggest you play with this on a test folder and seeing if it meets your needs before changing the working folder.
Also this will not change anything already in the folder it only applies to newly created files/folders
