Adding color to a picture frame

I am brand new to Macs, and I have been checking out iworks. I am working on a blank page layout. I have added text boxes, and a photo from my gallery. I want to frame the photo, and have figured out how, using the inspector. What I can't figure out how to do is how to add color to the frame. Can anyone help me out?

Hi Farmer Matt
Welcome to the forum.
fruhulda has shown how to change the color of simple strokes, however there are some frames you can not color change. Only "line" strokes can be changed, pdf files, jpegs, Photoshop and Pages' Picture Frames can not be changed.
Check whether the frame/stroke you have in your file is a graphic or not by selecting it:
+Inspector > Metrics > File Info+

  • Adding video to a picture frame ( jpg image ) masking question

    Hi guys,
I have an image of a picture frame, and I want to add some video inside the picture frame, but don't want the video to be seen outside the picture frame.
How would I go about getting the video into the frame ?
I have tried adding the "simple 3D " preset to my footage, and have put the video footage ON TOP of the picture frame later ( a simple jpg )
Is there a correct proceedure to doing this ? or am I on the right track here ?
I also notice one thing, - when I applied the Simple-3D preset, I can do a simple perspective on it.
I applied a 22 degree "swivel" on the video footage, which correctly aligns the TOP of the video with the picture frame, however, the bottom of the video is out of whack slightly.
On the bottom left, the video is perfect ( in the lower left corner of the picture frame ) however, on the right side ( bottom right ) the video is angled too much upward, and so there is a space there, and doesn't look correct.
    What do you suggest ?
In photoshop, I would simply cut out the real photo from the picture frame, and put another image UNDER the frame and apply a simple masking to it, and this way it would be perfect, however I don't think this is how we can do it in Premiere ( ? ) I'm fairly certain about this, but could be wrong.
If I am correct, then somehow I need to skew the video slightly ?
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Dave.

    Hi Jim,
I had the video under the picture frame, but parts of the video are still visible, ( in Photoshop I would simply mask out the area outside the frame, and that's it, it's done, but it seems in Premiere there is no such thing as this type of masking (perhaps ? )
    Hi Steven,
I don't understand what you wrote, if I crop either the picture frame or the video, it won't look right. However, if I tweek the video just a tad, it would fit pefectly, however, when I do this to the video, just a portion of it sticks out from the picture frame in one area ( in Photos hop a simple mask would hide this )
    Dave.

  • I started making a movie and all was well. I added a few more pictures and some sound and played it back. It plays so far and then the pictures break up into colors and then the screen turns green.  The sound continues.

I am making a movie from still pictures. I used no theme and then started adding pictues. When I played it back, all was well. Then I added a few more pictures and some sound. When I play iot back it plays just so far and then the sound continues, but the screen turns green or the pictures break up into colors.

Sorry, everyone.  I think I may have figured out what it was all down to...........
I had left the IDE ribbon cable plugged into my third HDD, with the power cable unplugged.  I did this so as not to endanger my years of work on the third drive, until Windows had setup.  I have in the past, accidentally chosen the wrong partiton to format, so this seemed a good way to avoid it from then on.
This was not a problem on my old system, but it seems this system doesn't like it.
I must have left the drive completely unplugged, the times Windows did setup.  Amazing really.  I couldn't see the woods for the trees.
Anyway, I'm sorry to have bothered everyone with my problem.
    Cheers
    Marcus
edit :   Sorry Syar2003, I didn't see your reply until I had posted mine.  Many thanks for taking the time to try and help me, it seems as though I may have sorted it now.  I am using IDE drives until I can afford SATA.  But many thanks for the heads-up on the NF4-SATA compliance, I'll be sure to bare that in mind.
I didn't actually check the NVRAID/IDE ROM version before updating the bios, so I have no idea if the revision was changed when Liveupdate flashed the Bios, I'm afraid.  I didn't know they would be updated at the same time.
    Again, cheers
    Marcus

  • In Photoshop Elements12 (with Windows 8.1) added titles to my pictures do not appear in Windows. Formerly, in PSE 6 (with Windows Vista) added tiltles also appeared in Windows.

Formerly using Photoshop Elements 6 with Windows Vista I could add (or change) titles to my pictures in the Organizer and find the same titles afterwards also in Windows. Nowadays using Photoshop Elements 12 with Windows 8.1 and adding titles to my pictures in the Organizer I do not find these titles in Windows any more. That makes me sad because I want to have the titles in Windows but adding the titles is much more comfortable in Photoshop Elements than in Windows. Please tell me: Is there a help for me?

I have a Dell U3014 as well as a couple of older Dells turned up sideways as "ears".
Other than supplying the desktop "theme" (if you can call a complete lack of style along with a fair bit of inconsistency a "theme"), the OS really shouldn't be causing you to have a washed-out desktop experience.  That's more a
matter of your display driver not really doing its job.  What video card do you have?
FYI, one of the reasons I like Aero Glass for Win 8.1 (a 3rd party package) is that it allows me to make the desktop more pleasant to use and helps set the client areas (i.e., where work gets done) apart from the window chrome.
From what I can see, the color-management logic in Windows 8.1 is essentially unchanged from what it was in Windows 7.  That there has been NO progress in this area is really a disappointment.  It's an area where Microsoft has again just stopped
    trying to make improvements.
If it's at all interesting to you, here's a screen grab of a REALLY cluttered up desktop.  I don't normally work this way; this was an exercise to see how much I could get running.  I finally gave up starting more stuff as I grew tired
and it just kept working fine...

  • Export to PDF, loss of shadows + picture frames

I like to use Pages features like shadows and picture frames on photos (using Inspector > Graphic). I then export my Pages document to PDF to send for professional printing, but when the PDF is opened on Windows machines at the printer, the shadows are gone, and the photo inside the picture frame is totally missing. Some of the picture frames will stay in the PDF without the photo, and some will completely disappear along with the photos. I have confirmed this when viewing on a friend's PC also.
I've tried both standard Pages exporting AND printing to PDF from the print dialog box, both fail.
I searched the forum high and low and was pretty surprised to find no one else discussing this issue. Any suggestions on how to work around this and preserve the shadows and picture frame treatments on PDFs viewed on Windows machines?
(Note: I have already tried converting the PDF to a JPG or TIFF file using Preview, and that essentially works, but there is enough loss of DPI to cause concern at the printer, and besides, its just not ideal to print professionally from those formats).
Also it would be amazing if there were a printing company out there who printed color & full bleed jobs directly from Pages files on their Mac- anyone know of one? That would solve the whole issue of having to fumble around preparing files for PC viewing. (Oh if it were only a Mac world)...

I agree with kirbot -- Apple includes nice templates that are obviously meant for professional printing in reasonably large quantities. Regardless, there's no good reason I can think of why Pages' PDFs are not truly WYSIWYG in their output. That shadows and other things are not exported as part of the PDF is a really dumb idea on Apple's part.
Just ran into this issue myself and had to ditch all the drop shadows in my brochure in order for the files to work with my online printer.

  • Picture frame gets moved/resized during preview with iPad

    Hi Guys:
This happens to a certain type of layout:
Add a gallery widget to a page
add only one image to the gallery widget
Draw a rectangle shape in the page
Select the rectangle, open the inspector, and add a picture frame decoration to the rectangle.
Make the rectangle "Not filled" with any color, therefore we get a picture frame
Put the picture frame on top of the gallery widget
The gallery widget looks like an ordinary photo, decorated with a picture frame
    The problem:
The aforementioned layout looks good in iBookAuthor, but when preivewing the book in iPad, the picture frame gets moved (or resizied), therefore it doesn't match the gallery widget.
after the preview, widgets in the iBookAuthor remains good.
    My question:
I think it is a bug of either the preview process, or the widgets. if this is the case. I'd deprecate this layout in my book and won't use it anymore.
    Further thoughts:
I noticed that some type of picture frames are not in high resolution, when previewing the book in iPad, tap to maximize an interactive image with picture frame decorated, it is kind of obverious that the picture frame doesn't have high resolution.
Any suggestion will be appreciated, thank you.
    Xing Yun

What happens if you export an .ibooks file, then move it to iTunes and sync to your iPad (delete all previews of that same book first)...?
Previews are just simplified PDFs and shouldn't be trusted to layout and work the same as a final book.

  • Images with Picture Frame stroke not printing?

Does anyone have a known solution to an issue in which an image with a stroke of "Picture Frame" applied will not print?
    More details...
    - Created pages document (originally in '08 version of Pages, then upgraded to Pages '09 to see if that fixed it -- it did not)
    - Printed document in both both Pages version. All assets within document printed correctly with exception of photos that have stroke of "Picture Frame" applied.
    - Printed to PDF. Opened and printed from Preview. Again, all assets within document printed correctly with exception of photos with stroke of "Picture Frame."
    - Tried modifying print settings to "fit in page" as well as color correction. Same symptoms applied.
    - One solution (that's not the desired behavior but should be acknowledged) -- removing stroke allows images to print.
    Other:
    - Problem is reproducible across both versions of pages.
    - Problem may be same as seen in other searches found here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3005994?start=0&tstart=0 & here: http://forums.cnet.com/7723-21571_102-378574/pages-09-printing-problem/ & here: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/images-graphic-design-digital-photography/23980 6-framed-pictures-wont-print-iwork-pages.html
    Set-up:
    - iMac running 10.7.3
    - Started with iWork '08, updated to Pages '09
    - HP LaserJet CP1025nw
    Any advice much appreciated!

Thanks for all your help, fruhulda.
    Tried:
    deleting plist
    uninstalling Pages
    trying a different account
    updating firmware
    trying a different printer
The only thing that works -- which also worked for you -- was something other than this printer. And even with a firmware update, it's not working.
I'd say this is an HP CP1025nw problem, which kind of hurts given it's a newer printer for us.
Suppose it's best to consider this closed and unsolved.

I added a blog to my page. On the entries page I changed pictures and selected for these pictures no frame at the information selection. Now at the summary of the blog I can see these pictures, but only with a frame. How can I change this frame on the summary blog page?

you need to know iweb widgets and some tricks to add picture frame in blog summary page:

  • Adding cloud to a picture

    Hi,
I am new to photo shop 9 elements and am getting on with it quite well. However I have some pictures of aircraft with a white sky back ground. I therefore would like to add cloud. I cannot seem to grasp how to do this.
    Can anyone please help?
    Pete

    Hi,
Thanks Bill will give it a try.
Just bean out on Salisbury Plain to-day taking action pictures of Apache helicopters in the live firing area. Will re having a break so will give what you suggested a try.
Again thank you for your help, I will let you know the results.

Subject: Adding cloud to a picture
Ah, thank you for the clarification.
Now, this is for Photoshop, and may, or may not work in PSElements (I just do not know the full capabilities and limitations of that program), so you may need to "read between the lines," and interpolate to PSElements.
    1. In PS (probably the same here in PSE), Open both your original Image, with the airplane, and "cloud" Image. Select an area around your "cloud" including some sky. I would probably use the Lasso for this Selection, and just do it roughly, and by eye. I would also set the Feather to about 3 - 5 pixels to soften the Selection. We will clean up later, and soften even more, so do not worry if the Selection around the cloud is rough. No since getting critical at this point. Copy (CtrlC on the PC), and then go to the "airplane" Image. Paste that cloud into it (CtrlV on the PC).
    2. Here is where my lack of knowledge of PSE will show, so you may need to do things a bit differently in that program. Now you have two Layers in the airplane Image, the Background and the "cloud" Layer, which wil be named Layer 1 (can be changed to "Cloud" or maybe "Cloud 1," if you will be adding more.
    3. You will probably need to adjust the size and placement of the cloud, so hit Ctrl+T to call up Free Transform, and you will get a Bounding Box with an Anchor Point, and also Handles on the Bounding Box.
    4. Clickdrag inside the Bounding Box to Move the Cloud, and clickdrag on those Handles to resize the cloud Layer. To constrain the porportions, hold down Shift, while click+dragging on one of the corner Handles.
    5. When you have the cloud Layer where you want it, and sized to suit, Dbl-click inside the Bounding Box to comit your changes.
    6. Go to Selection>Load Selection, and by default it should be Layer 1 (unless you have Renamed it) Transparency. That is what you want, and if not the default, use the drop-down list to choose that.
    7. This will load the Selection used to Copy the cloud, but if you resized and moved the cloud Layer about, will automatically make those changes to the Selection. Here, you get the "marching ants" of the Selection.
    8. With the ants visible, go back to Selection, and Choose Save Selection, and here, use the drop-down to get to Layer 1 (or the name of the cloud Layer) Layer Mask.
    9. In the Layers Palette, you will get a new Layer Mask icon in the cloud Layer.
    10. Click on that Layer Mask icon, to make it active. Note that the colors in the Toolbox will change to black and white. If they do not, then you are NOT working on the Layer Mask. To verify that you are, go to the Channels Palette and make sure that the Layer 1 (or Renamed Layer) Layer Mask is active in the Channels Palette.
    11. Use a soft-edged Brush and paint in, or out (black paints in, and white paints out) the Layer Mask to clean up things around your cloud. You can switch between the black and the white by hitting the X key. Work slowly, and do not hesitate to decrease the Brush Size to get in close to the cloud. If you make a mistake, and have gotten past the point, where Undo (Ctrl+Z on the PC) works, do not worry. You have NOT done anything to the pixels in the cloud Layer, but ONLY the Layer Mask. Just paint in, or paint out that work on the Layer Mask.
You might want to go to the Background Layer and work on the color of the sky area, to get it to match closely with any sky area in the cloud Layer. To do that, just Select the airplane, and Invert that Selection, so as to protect the airplane from any color, or density changes.
If you have more clouds to add, just repeat the process for each of those. Especially with more than one cloud, I would definitely Rename the cloud Layers, so you know which Layer and which Layer Mask you are working on.
If PSE does not have Layer Masks, or if their operations differ from the above, post to the PSE forum, and be sure to add my instructions, so a PSE user can instruct you where things differ in PSE.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How do I Add a Picture Frame Around a Flash Video?

I tried searching for this but "frame" has too many meanings. I have flv videos inserted in several web pages, but they look dull without some sort of fancy border or frame around them. Maybe a picture frame. Maybe the image of a flat screen TV surrounding the image. But how do I add the image "behind" the video so that the video sits perfectly inside the image, regardless of the monitor viewing the image.

Do a google search for the IE PNG Fix javascript.  Some work better than others.  The one you had didn't work at all for PNG backgrounds in pre-IE7.
Copy and Paste the following document into a new blank page and see how it looks in all the major browsers.  I changed your document type to XHTML transitional and replaced deprecated <div align> tags with inline CSS styles.  I also ran your Flash code through http://validifyer.com to make it XHTML compliant.

  • Make picture frame part of url for picture

I have added an image file to one of my web pages. I added a picture frame from the Graphics Inspector. I published the page. Now, when I view the page, I would like to copy the image address of the image and have the frame included. Any tips, please, for making the image and the frame all one?
    Thanks.
    Tom

    O-Tay, OT...
Screen Capture has never been in my (small) bag of tricks. I think I tried it, many years ago and the resulting lack of copied resolution made me discard it as something not useful to me.
Thanks for prompting me to revisit this scheme.
This worked like a charm and enabled me to use the whole header that I built for my bulletin board. I can see that, before I begin the capture, I will need to enlarge the screen so that I can be more precise about what is captured. I have some white area to the left and at the bottom that I did not want to include... I will try again. I am guessing that there is nothing intuitive about what Grab thinks I am trying to capture. (?)
    Thank you.
    Tom

  • Allow cropping boundaries to go outside the picture frame

Currently, the crop window is restricted to be inside the picture window. When the picture is rotated, the crop window shrinks to prevent it from extending outside the picture frame. This functionality is most often preferred.
However, for some situations, there should be an option to unlock this feature, allowing the crop to go outside the frame. Upon export, white space (or a color of selection) will be substituted for the are outside the picture. What I am asking for is the same functionality RawShooter has!!

I want the feature, but implemented better than in RawShooter. Some photos would look best cropped a certain way but need a little sky or whatever cloned into a corner.
A simple way for Lightroom to provide this is to have the crop box work just like it does now constrained to the images pixels, but by pressing and holding, say, the Alt/Opt key, the box would become unconstrained. Holding down the Ctrl/Cmd key could be used to rotate the crop box 90 degrees by clicking on one of the borders.
In response to the nay-sayers, for many people (see, I'm not just speaking for myself) the idea of workflow is the "flow" part, not the "work" part. For me (and the many people) getting images cropped right is part of the flow. Jumping to Photoshop is an interruption. (Of course, for others the flow is completing each image as they go, but when I do that I am way too slow.)
For the bloat-beware folks, the hard part is constraining the crop box to the pixels, not uncontraining it. BTW - Lightroom's handling of cropping and rotating is WAY better than RawShooter's.

  • Clip Art, Picture Frames, Borders, etc...

I was wondering if there is a place where you can get clip art, more picture frames and cool borders for Pages 08?
    Thanx
    Joe

I'm afraid you're looking completely in the wrong place. PS doesn't produce instant galleries, it is a full-blown professional image editing app. Hence there is no such thing as decorative borders, clip art and what have you. Of course al lof that can be added with PS in a million ways like patterns, shape brushes or by using text with dingbats, but it's not prefab stuff. And "easy" is very much a matter of perception and experience, but from what it sounds like, you wil lbe much happier with Photoshop Elements or similar products from otehr vendors...

  • Can the Picture Frame change rate slow down?

Twenty seconds is *way* too fast but appears to be the slowest it goes. Ideally something like twenty *minutes* is what I'm after.

Yes, I saw that slideshow feature in Photos so was disappointed to find that the Picture Frame feature is simply the very same thing! While I would agree with Apple that 20 sec is probably ok for a slideshow, where the user is concentrating on the screen and actively *watching* it, a picture frame is entirely different, it's just glanced at occassionally. A picture frame that flashes up a different shot every 20 secs is very distracting.
I suppose there is the solution of using lots of duplicates of each shot in an album to extend the time each is on screen, but even a 10 minute duration would need 30 copies of every image!
