Adding color to labels

I want to add background color to a sheet of labels (using 'formatting pallete').  I have done this many times before with no problem.
This time, instead of the labels being filled, I am just getting a thin line of color at the top of the sheet.  What has happened?

  • Adding Color to Black & White Photo

I have PE 9 and I know how to change a photo from Color to Black and White.  I am having trouble adding color back to the photo...Could someone please help me selectively add color to my now black and white photo.
    Thanks in advance.

    That's the easiest.
    Open your full colour image.
Choose the Smart Brush tool I showed in my previous post.
On the Options bar for the tool,
    hit the dropdown arrow (1).
Hit the effects dropdown box and choose "Black and White" (2).
    Select "Grayscale" (3).
Set your brush to a small size.
Paint over the areas you want to be in Black & White.  The brush automatically selects entire areas as you paint.
If it goes too far, set the brush to "minus"
and paint over the excess area to return it to the original colour.
The automatic selection kind of "learns" what you want, so by going back and forth between "plus" and "minus", you'll ultimately get what you want.

  • Adding Color to Black & White Photos

Does CS6 have new tools &/or procedures for photo retouch particularly
adding color effects to B/W photos?

    The short answer is maybe!
There is no magic button you can press to add colour to a B&W image. You can however, remove all but selected colours from a colour image and achieve (for example) a B&W portrait of a lady holding a red rose. You can also have green leaves with just a couple of extra steps too.
If this is what you are looking for, let us know. I'm sure you'll get a heap on replies.

  • Adding color for path

    Hi,
I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS 5.
While doing a cutout using the Pen tool, I'm finding it difficult to follow the path, as the path line is too thin, does CS 5 gives any option of adding color to the path so that we can track as we use the Pen tool.
    Thanks

Whenever I have to manually trace vector paths on top of something using the pen tool I'll often work on a dummy image converted to grayscale and then to a duotone.
The idea behind this is making the blacks in the guide image not black at all. I'll make a grayscale scan of something like hand drawn letters or something else I sketched. I go to Image>Mode>Duotone. I'll choose "Custom" on the preset menu and "Monotone" for the number of inks. Just click on the ink color and choose some sort of medium, colored value. I like to trace paths over an earthy orange color. Name the ink color some kind of nonsense like "pookie" or whatever. It doesn't matter.
Your pen tool paths will show up very easily over this kind of artwork.
Duotone images typically must be saved in Photoshop format. If you want to work on the image elsewhere, you can simply convert it to RGB or CMYK by going to the Image>Mode flyout menu. Then you can save the dummy image as a TIFF or JPEG. Or you can even paste it as a layer to show/hide in your primary Photoshop layout. This recipe may sound a little complicated but it's really very easy.

  • HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer - label print issues

I'm getting great plain paper printing, however, my labels are coming out with sporadic patches of white where there should be color, especially along the edges.  Also, the black text is printing light "shadow" text in areas that should be white/unprinted.  Can anyone help?

    Hey,
I see you are having an issue with Air Print on your CP1525nw Color Laserjet Pro.  Have you tried a full network power cycle?
Unplug the router and printer while on
Power down the iOS device completely.  Check out the following link for how: http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonehowtos/qt/turn_off_iphone.htm
    Wait 30 seconds
Power the router up and wait for it to completely initialize before proceeding
Power the printer up and wait for it to completely initialize before proceeding
Power the iOS device back up
It sounds like the network most likely lost communication with the bonjour service of the printer.

  • CS4 - New layer won't show added color overlay, gradient, patterns?

I'm using CS4 Extended for a few years... its been working fine but all of a sudden my layers are blank? I've tried Google but can't find a solution. Started a new graphic for a label using a 300dpi resolution, 23.250" inches wide and 2.500" high. Filled it with Black, then attempted to create a new layer to create a semi-transparent pattern above the black. It shows up in the layers column but the actual new layer doesn't show up on the artwork workspace. I can add text in color as a new layer, but the pattern layer doesn't show. Went and tried using an existing file... old layers work fine, but try to add any new layer other than text and it doesn't show. I know this is something dumb that I somehow clicked on and I'll kick myself when somebody tells me to check.... whatever LOL.
Thanks in advance and don't laugh.

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

  • How do I set the "custom" in the color field labels?

    Hi
In Lr 4.1 I have just noticed that as well as red, green, yellow, blue & purple, there is a "Custom" feild too.
How can I configure this, and is there a shortcut I can assign (and also for purple; how do Adobe keep skipping over assigning a shortcut to Purple!!??)
    Thanks

Assign purple: anything at all that worked! e.g. Ctrl - 9 for example, it doesn't matter what the shortcut is, so long as there is one!!
Ado not understand your comment about "The colors are just UI elements for the "Label" metadata field and the set assigns which "Labels" are which colors"
I want to know if its possoble to assign the custom color label.

  • Adding color to an object in a black and white photo

Can someone please help? I just bought Aperture and I was wondering if it is possible to add color to an object in a black and white photo? or keep an object in color and turn the rest of the picture into black and white?
    Thanks

    Hi
I am 90% sure this cannot be specifically done in Aperture as it can in Photoshop.
I assume you mean adding spot colour to a B&W photograph.
You can choose an external editor such as Photoshop, if you have it, create the effect, and re-import the image back into Aperture.
There are some powerful colour controls for selectively improving colour in a photo within Aperture. Whereby you can make a particular colour stand out more by selectively adjusting the red, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow colour's. These are accessed via the colour controls in the adjustments inspector.
You can create B&W images with two tones (of your choice) by using the Monochrome mixer ( in the adjustments panel )
Or you can create colour monochrome effects by using the colour monochrome effects slider ( in the adjustments panel, where you see a + sign with a downward pointing arrow ) click the arrow and select "colour monochrome" from the menu, it will appear at the bottom of the adjustments panel.
Give some of these a go..... play around with it, you can get some stunning result's..........
    Hope this helps some.......

  • Since recent CC upgrade, Bridge doesn't show colors of labels. What gives?

    Hi All,
Just upgraded CC and all of a sudden all the thumbnalls in Bridge show white bars instead of labels on the thumbnails. When I go to the Filter I can select to view only those with green, red, or whatever, so the information on what the color is is there. Is this just my problem or is it a bug? This is the Mac version running Mountain Lion on a 13" retina display.
    Thanks,
    Ed Merrin

Thanks, Omke. You helped lead me to a trail that solved the problem, although how it came to be is not too clear. I thought it would be good for me to describe the specifics in case someone else encounters this.
Briefly, I have used the label colors for years, through multiple versions of Bridge, to help organize and sort through images. It has become second nature to me. I recently went traveling and came back and began sorting through and labeling my new images. Everything seemed fine, but in retrospect I was paying attention to the color of the label and not the name attached to each color.
Eventually the time came to do something with older files, and that's when the problem surfaced. All the labiels were white. When I looked at the filter panel, the thumbnails in the browser would be correctly identified by the text name of the color, but no colors would be displayed. For instance, if I selected the word red (but with a white circle next to it), only the "red" thmbnails would be in the browser, and the same for any other "color." So they could be identified, even thought here was no way to tell them apart visually by label, since they were all white. On the other hand, the newer files, although they had red or green etc under the thumbnail, were identified as something else. Specifically, red was "Selected," and other colors had other terms I can't remember. The transition was easy to find. All files labeled from October of this year to the present had the new monikers and showed colors, whereas everything before (back to 2006) were white.
So I went to the preferences, and lo and behold each color had a word next to it (as I mentioned above red was "Selected") instead of the name of the color, as it had been before.
It was much easier to change the newer files than thousands of old ones, obviously, so I changed the preference panel by typing the color names in to replace the other categorie names that some greater authority had apparently invented. Bingo, all the old files now had color labels and it was the new ones that were white! That was easily fixed by changing labels of the new files in the drop down menu to the appropriate color name  (the colors names were unavailable until I changed the preferences).
Apparently, around the end of September or early October my preferences were changed, probably after an update, and I never noticed. Previously, whenever I  updated Phtotshop/Bridge the preferences were carried over without any intervention from me.
    So go figure.

  • Setting color for labels

I've just been reading the look-and-feel guidelines, and they suggest using Primary 1 (#666699) for labels for components in the GUI. However, they don't suggest how to get this programatically. The examples use resource bundles to get strings (i.e. resources.getString(componentName.labelString) but they don't explain how to set up and best use a resource bundle.
What is the easiest way to set the color of a label to "Primary 1" for the current look-and-feel.
Our apps are currently not at all internationalised, so we don't have any existing resource bundles.
    Cheers,

  • Adding color to a picture frame

I am brand new to Macs, and I have been checking out iworks. I am working on a blank page layout. I have added text boxes, and a photo from my gallery. I want to frame the photo, and have figured out how, using the inspector. What I can't figure out how to do is how to add color to the frame. Can anyone help me out?

    Hi Farmer Matt
    Welcome to the forum.
fruhulda has shown how to change the color of simple strokes, however there are some frames you can not color change. Only "line" strokes can be changed, pdf files, jpegs, Photoshop and Pages' Picture Frames can not be changed.
Check whether the frame/stroke you have in your file is a graphic or not by selecting it:
    +Inspector > Metrics > File Info+

  • Adding color to clipart.

I have a clipart that a friend drew for me that is black and white. I scanned it, added to it and saved it as a .psd. I used a reduced size clipart to add some color. I than decided to add color to the full sized clipart using the bucket tool. The color picker will not alow me to choose any color other than blacks, grays, or white. It worked fine with the first clipart but nothing after. I tried in Elements 6 and just purchased Elements 12 hoping that would be the ticket. Any ideas?

Check under Image>Mode to verify your document is in the RGB Color mode and 8 bits/channel.
If 8 Bits / Channel is grayed out, then the document is already 8 bits/channel.
